I like Carmageddon so this is cool. Great sound! On the other hand It's too easy and doesn't have much to do with the theme.

Sorry about the link without http, the site was so slow last night I wasn't able to check it properly. A warning would have been nice :)
Since afterporting is allowed I added the web player.
@rawbits: throwing cans works for me.. Make sure you're clicking at the target or near it, not near the boy. If you do that they'll only land near if you hit the boy or the tv.
Nice gameplay, great level design and funny sounds. The graphics could use some more work, but it's still a great game. The last box is kinda buggy because sometimes you get killed when respawning.
Could use some polish but it's fun. Gets repetitive after a while (got to 254 here).
Nice graphics but other than that it's not very fun or aloneish.
Doesn't work properly on FF, only Chrome.
Very nice ending music.
The mechanics are a bit strange, for example when you send a bullet back it won't kill you nor the enemies. Bullets going thru everything is a bit strange as well. There's a bug - if you break the ground on the boss you can fall off the level and won't die or be able to play.
Very fun, nice mechanics and cool graphic style! The only thing I didn't like was the sound.
I'd love to play an iOS game. Can't you make one of those jailbroken .ipa's that can be transferred with iTunes?
I got a very strong flickering on the borders here :/
It flickers between the white border and the black one really fast:

I'm on Windows 7 x64.
Love galaga, even more if it's as funny as hell! The down side: the background dust is very distracting and the difficulty curve is a bit jumpy.
Nice idea, graphics and easter egg. Unfortunately interaction is buggy enough to take away most of the fun.
Not very fun but has nice characters and great background graphics. Stating the objective would've been nice, it took me a few tries to figure you have to make the other guy suicide.
I love the levels and the graphics (except the character). Controls are awkward and the burn sound doesn't fit.
The gameplay strays too much from the theme IMHO but it was fun to play.
Great idea! Gameplay could be more elaborated but overall this kicks ass as far as theme ideas go!
Great thing! Could use some generated sounds as well.
Very similar to my game, o.ô.
Nice idea, decent graphics. Way too boring to wait for daylight to come back, there should be something to do at night..
Nice idea, reminds me of an old LD game of mine (Soundscape). The music starts to get very annoying after a while, a way to turn it off would be nice. A level counter would be nice to keep your progress, I had to skip level 9 but I'd probably try harder if I knew it was level 9 ;)
Congratulations on having the guts to do this! My first 5 on theme 0 on fun so far.
Great in every aspect! The only issue I found is with the try again and next wave screens. There's something odd about the way they respond, not sure exactly what.
Still might be the best I've played up to now :)
Doesn't run in FF, only in Chrome. I like the basic idea and know this is supposed to be a parody but why would funding education or reducing corruption decrease support? IMHO it should be more realistic (politicians would still be the villains)
This could have been fun if collision detection and throwing worked in a predictable manner... right now it's just pixel porn (great pixel porn BTW)!
I like the concept and love the graphics but in the end the music annoys as much as it annoys the goat :( Couldn't finish it.
This has great graphics and music but the gameplay is far too slow for me. The movement mechanic seems right in theory but TBH it isn't fun. If it wasn't for the description I would've missed the connection to the theme.
I really like this one! Fun to play, good variety of stuff. Nice graphics, funny animations. Good music. IMHO all negative aspects are related to text: the dialog shouldn't stop the game, there are lots of mistakes (that's of course forgivable) and some guys show up with girl's names (random generator?).
Yeah, I didn't enjoy this at all. But I have to admit it's very well done... in a very fucked up way!
I found the green guy's graphics hilarious but that's about it.
It's an interesting concept. It should consider a very small amount of drag as a shot, that'd make it a lot more fun! The "lace" would also be nicer if it was somewhat smarter. Graphics and sounds are in the right direction but the lack of variety makes you stop playing very quickly.
Controls are *very* awkward and I don't mean just numpad - I'd suggest going with mouse clicks instead of the whole "press a button to attack, position a crosshair and press another button" thing. TBH I found the idea very nice but couldn't figure out how to play properly (only managed to possess once and had a hard time telling who was winning combat).
Played more after reading Regus' guide and I must say this game is as addictive and fun as it is counterintuitive ;)
You should really add a readme with a guide, including:
-What Regus said
-How to attack (press a, target with numpad, press space)
-That you can move to all 8 directions
-That you should cast possess on the enemy before killing it
I appreciate hard games but at the very least you should be able to save when you reach the stair to a lower floor. I think I'll download Python and try to add this just for myself before I play more.
Sometimes a strong monster locks on you as soon as they get on screen - you might as well close the game because there's nothing you can do.
Also sometimes the "red hoods" and "golems" will spawn on the first floor, which means you're screwed.
Oh, so that's what it's for, thanks! Will have to play again!
BTW I managed to change the source to accept arrow keys (so I can play on the notebook) but I don't know what exactly I should pickle to save the game state. I tried pickling thw ehole thing but it complains Surfaces cannot be pickled. Would really appreciate any help!
@Eniko: thanks for answering anyways. I ended up running it on a Windows XP VM and using snapshots to save, LOL o.ô Managed to get to the balrog and possess it but the game keeps generating floors. It does get a lot easier after you get fireball from the sorceress but those liches can still kill you with two hits right until the end. I only asaved once before going down each floor, with the exception of the first and second floors (where I saved once for each possession). I don't think it's possible for enyone to finish this without saving unless they can spend an year trying (i really think saving should be a regular feature, even if it only saves at stairs) ;)
Anyways it's a very fine game and I've had a lot of fun with it. Thanks and looking forward to the post compo version.
Yeah, I'm sort of compulsive with that stuff.. if I start to play I game and enjoy it I *need* to finish it XD
If you really don't want to add saving your best bets for decreasing difficulty are:
a) making sure monsters won't lock on you as soon as you see them - I think this happens when they move to a non-boarder-of-the-screen tile as soon as they enter your screen.
b) fine tuning spellcaster's damage to avoid 2 hit kills.
Congratulations on getting to floor 9 without saving, that's very impressive!
Not sure if it's running correctly here, there seems to be no interaction between the hero and my dropper creatures.
Thanks to everyone for the kind comments, I *really* appreciate it. Didn't expect this much great feedback :)
@bwdevel: let me know if you get it running (or if you have any issues)!
@dansludumdare:
LOLing very hard at the way he says squiggly!
@Christina:
1-Very true, the S is the real villain! To be honest with you the AI isn't nearly as smart as you think it is - it just tests 40 different moves for the current piece, simulates the resulting boards and applies ranking to features such as total height, holes at the bottom and lines cleared. Indeed it misses a lot of vertical holes and I'm not sure why it does that. I tried a couple of algorithms to avoid it but in the end they all played worse than the one on the video :/
2-That'd be cool! Extending your idea might be the best way to go: programming a list of high level behaviours that simulates the way humans play.
Thanks a lot for the ratings and the feedback!
@Faust: Thanks! Porting to run on other Arduinos should be easy, all I have to do is get memory usage under 2KB. I'll do that if anyone wants! Can't even attempt to port to other MCU's because the only one I have is the Arduino. Porting to the PC doesn't make much sense anymore because both chas and Deltafire have made similar web versions.
The idea of tower defense with monsters is quite cool but the "status" screens get in the way and there's not enough time to set up the dungeons properly before the hero comes. Battle sounds and animation would make this a lot cooler. The music is great!
Nice game, good difficulty level. Finished it on my fourth try with about 1s to go :P
I like the idea but the gameplay feels too random to me..
It's funny but gets boring quickly. IMHO not very themeish. Sound's great!
I like the humor and the narration but the gameplay is waaay too much on the grinding side. 300 milk for the vaporizer?!?
Love the slime graphics and the title screen. Sounds are OK. Gameplay is very buggy and unstable but I managed to finish it.
Cool mechanics, reminds me of Trine. I'd certainly play a more complete version with the bugs ironed out. Bugs: tile borders showing up everywhere, when you die the previsouly spawned fireballs are still there.
Best story ever! Nice graphics, fantastic moody music, great gameplay!
Goat spawning feels strange and enemies shouldn't be something traditionally evil (slimes).. maybe vampire hunters, priests or something like that.
I'll write a lot because this is my favorite game so far.
The good:
-LOVE the graphic style
-Great sounds and music
-Great levels
-Love wiping cities out
The bad:
-Got *very* laggy towards the end and my computer isn't a weakling
-Line weapon was very hard to aim, would b better if you could actually draw a line
-Once I levelled every building and the alien still told me I could do better... go figure
-Some clipping/out of map glitches but that's fine
The ugly:
-With such a good entry you guys didn't need the gratuitous vote begging, seriously!
Still the best entry so far!
Nice mechanics, best audio so far (music and effects), great humor. Could use more variety of enemies/spawn directions. There's a bug causing the dragon not to die.
I'd give you a 5 on graphics if I could identify what the needed parts represent. City looks nice as well and the intro is cool.
Great idea, had never played anything like this before! Sometimes you can't tell what's a tile and what's not, specially on the easter island one. Doesn't run in FF 17.0.1, had to use Chrome (argh). Great game overall!
Graphics look good but are very glitchy. Music is great but feels more like Metroid than LOTR. Battle sounds are great! Not sure how it fits the theme. Controls are very awkward on the web version.
Froze twice and gave victory to nature while I still had 3 soldiers, then I gave up.. It's got nice graphics and could become a nice game after the bugs are crushed (pun intended) ;)
Love the graphics but I just circled the map 3 times and didn't find where to place the bomb. Could really use ASD, mouse control doesn't work very well.
I like this kind of game but the music didn't play (only gun shots) and it crashed as soon as I returned $454 to the van. Found no goat... Had a real hard time differentiating walls from floor and finding out that I was supposed to dodge the actual red lines and not the guard's FoV (that makes little sense). Random movement makes the game hard but that's kinda nice.
Better graphics and an evil Christmas song would bring this into the top 5 easily. It's fun and hard, I might not have been able to finish the first list if I hadn't found a relatively unprotected house and camped there.
Can I have a Flux Capacitor for Christmas? Please?!?!?
I like your take on inverted tetris, two players always works better than an AI! I'd prefer it without automatic side switching, it's sort of confusing. Found a bug - selecting the next piece with WASD/arrows doesn't work when your selected piece is surrounded by used up pieces.
