Locking the attacks to cardinal directions was a smart move - it added an extra dimension to the gameplay and turned the game into something much more fun. I got lost in the levels sometimes, and the exit was a bit frustrating to find at times (maybe an arrow that points to the exit at the end of a level?)
Couldn't play it, since I don't own a VR set, but seems a funny game to play. Seems very immersive and the mentos part got some giggles out of me! The concept was really good too, though the graphics could use some work ♥
Big fan of puzzle games, and this was a good one. Footstep sound was a bit loud on headphones but the background music hit that sweetspot of calmingly repetitive. Got stuck a couple levels after the lil green sister turned up, but tempted to come back regardless!
Lots of screen tearing (I think? Glitchy graphics anyway) on Windows 10 with a 1060.
Oh man, this makes me wish I had listened closer when we were doing logic gates in school. Not being able to click on a splash screen to dismiss it was a bit confusing at first, but not a deal-breaker. No sound might actually have been smart... I switched on some relaxing ambient music and tossed an hour into this. Nice one.
Perfect length and level of difficulty. I really enjoyed the progression and extra little details in the environemnt. Music was a bit bland but not intrusive. Extra points for an adorable victory screen!
I am all about the squash-and-stretch animation tricks! Music is fabulous.
That swing meter makes for a great "rub your stomach and pat your head" gameplay as you manage purchases. Graphics were on the weaker side and it's a shame there wasn't audio (or maybe GameMaker decided to break audio again? It happens). I didn't find out what "null" did in the menu though?
Awesome use of the theme, very clever and put a big smile on my face! Reminded me a lot of that foot from Monty Python too which is always a bonus.
I don't understand - why have you submitted this for multiple jams? Is this a long term project? If so, you really should make that clear in the game description.
Love the vector-style orthogonal lineart. Was a bit confused about the mechanics at first but soon warmed up. Took a bit too long to get more purple circles, I think; having more obstacles makes it way more fun. Good job overall!
Super fun. Combines all the parts of RTS and twin-stick shooter that I like and makes it into a cohesive whole. Had a couple goes at a high score too which is rare for a jam game. Good job!
Loved the combination of hand-drawn images and close-up photos, it made each character feel very personal. You taught me a new word as well ("petrichor") so bonus points for that!
Kept misclicking and accidentally quiting out of the game though :(
It's a real shame the bugs get in the way of a great idea. Hopefully a post-jam version will fix some of the bigger problems?
Best experienced with "Folsom Prison Blues" playing in the background.
Extra points for using beepbox! The variations here make it worthwhile to keep coming back and, for what it's worth, I didn't mind the squeaky sound effects. The subtext of creating horrifying mutant creatures and then having them die minutes later is weirdly macabre, and I enjoyed the black humour of it.
The art on this one is so nice! The clouds could do with a little more work, but everything else is really cute and moody. The game is really fun and the controls are tight! The idea and concept is very refreshing too, keep up the good work ♥
Excellent! Looks and plays wonderfully. Not too easy, not too hard, challenges scales up well etc etc. My favourite thus far.
I liked the music and the premise (controls setup is a bit odd though movement felt good) but the gameplay was kinda shallow. It would have been good to see some variation, power-ups and different enemies etc.
The visuals weirdly reminded me of N The Ninja with the smooth, anti-aliased graphics and laser drones. Sounds effects were very meaty and satisfying, good job there. I couldn't get very far unfortunately (never been good at this kind of game) so thanks for posting a play-through so I don't have to miss out on the later bits ^_^
I had to alt-tab to get out of the game, not a big deal but a bit odd. I really liked the simplicity of the graphics and the soft shadows were lovely. Were the level files actually being pulled down from a server? If so, that's super impressive for such a short development cycle.
Oh, and was the audio procedural? Reminded me of a grid-based music composition tool/toy whose name I have sadly forgotten...
@kroltan Otomata, that's the name! That was bugging me all day...
Suits the theme well, and the power-ups were fun (bouncy balls OP!) but the overall game felt quite plain and unpolished. It's a shame - the actual graphical quality was fine and the audio was serviceable but little details weren't there.
Definitely an impressive game from a graphical perspective, though it suffers from the Grim Fandango control scheme problems unfortunately. Some of the camera angles were really weird and the game probably could have benefitted from some more time to iterate on world design. There's something fun here at its core and I hope you do something more with the idea.
Thanks for putting in a "calm" mode. This was a lovely experience, and I enjoyed the kinda Hawkeye-like robot, that was totally unexpected.
Big fan of this kind of game. Played a couple times to get the best setup ^_^
This was very fun to play, it has a lot to improve on, but for a first game and a first jam game it is very fun to play! Keep up the good work and hope to see more of you.
Love the aesthetic with all my heart, very well executed. The proximity effects with the little blackholes, the fuzziness of the ambience - wonderful. The wordless nature of the game is very reminiscent of Hyper Light Drifter.
But yeah, not much gameplay and that's ok. Just come back to it and finish it soon, yeah?
The writing in this is top notch. Excellent work all round.
Not usually a fan of tower defence games but this one is more fun than usual. Plain graphics are a bit of a turn-off, but the level of randomisation of your solar system makes up for it. Shields seemed a bit underpowered, but I enjoyed the rocket launchers a lot :)
The audio is good, but the graphics definitely need some work, as the player teleports to move and the background is too uniform, sometimes you can't even tell you moved. It doesn't seem finished, but it's a good base and start, keep going :)
This is definitely the kind of game I'd play on my tablet in bed. I love the writing; everything feels as though I'm peering through the mists of some kind of opium-fuelled dream. It's marvellous.
The transitions add to the feeling of mysticism with imagery that is wonderfully ambiguous, communicating both motion and state in intelligent ways: the direction of travel for each transition feels natural, an extension of the scene that's being conveyed. It took me a while to notice that the background changes colour too (and it appears to be a different colour for each aspect?) which is a lovely piece of polish that I'm glad you had time for.
This is a sort of labyrinthe, isn't it? That the game lets you explore first and then starts guiding you to goals is intelligent, though I do feel the opening phases go on a bit too long. Working out a way to get two companions at the same time took a lot of trial and error... perhaps there's some feedback missing there that'd help the process along.
This is the type of cloud-watching game I enjoy. No time pressure, just some words and a lot of imagination. Thanks for sharing.
Reminds me a lot of GBC platformers. Loved the music with the jaunty off-beat, suited the aesthetic really well. Block pushing physics seemed a bit odd in places but not a deal-breaker by any stretch. Unfortunately, I did get stuck on a level so I didn't get to see all the content you put in, but that you kept adding new features for each level is impressive for such a short dev cycle! Good work.
Very pretty indeed, and congratulations on getting soft shadow mapping working smoothly! Controls are problematic, but that's nothing new at this point ;)
Love the art style. Sound design got a bit crowded but it worked. Ending reminded me of Men In Black...
Great fun! Low poly style's been used to great effect here. Love the music too. I would have been nice if each ship had some variation, but I won't get picky. Good job - one of my favourite entries.
We **need** to work on a game together.
Starts off so, so well - cracking music and decent sound meshed with some trad. 80s graphics. Unfortunately, the gameplay isn't quite there. I want to love it so much, but unfortunately the shooting reduces down to kiting enemies and leaves me wanting more.
The graphics are so well done on this one! I don't think the perspective particularly helps, because I got confuse sometimes under which key I was under... The idea is very nice and unique, and the transparency was really well thought too.
Difficulty curve is a liiittle bit gentle, but the rad music makes the time fly by. Lovely aesthetic too, and graphically well executed. Though the idea of a singular omnipotent moral executor is ethically troubling...
Game is pretty cute, it's a little short though! The idea is very fun, but controls are a bit wonky, would be nice to see a longer version of this one, keep up the good work ♥
