I had so much fun with this game! It was so intense! I typically love typing games, so I may be biased but I thought you did a wonderful job. ♥

I had so much fun with this game! It was so intense! I typically love typing games, so I may be biased but I thought you did a wonderful job. ♥
I had fun playing this! It got intense real quick and made me realise I can't type as well as I thought. I liked the use of a multiple word phrase, I had not seen that done in any typing games I had played. Good submission!
great game but i can't type fast enough
Wow, really polished and well made. Liked the random words that flew horizontally, great idea to disrupt focus ontyping the basic comets.
I really enjoyed this one, well done!
Man typing is hard. Great twist on the quick type game!
The art is great! And in general it looks really polished
Also:
Why not learn more about
"Sky"
(Btw I get an error when landing on the webpage "TypeError: Cannot set properties of null (setting 'onclick')", the game still played though.)
Thank you everyone for the feedback until now - I will definitely add difficulty settings on the 'full version'. It is very much needed. The error that appears is there because I removed part of the HTML generated by Unity. This was very bad decision :D.
Holy moly thats a stressful game. But so FUN! I really was just trying to milk every last second out of staying alive for longer, so I think you did great with the theme there. The learning at the endis a cute little idea too. Overall really cool game!
this was really fun! I really liked the UFO wave-clear mechanic.
I think the game could benefit from a little more feedback when you make a mistake - I would get into a weird cycle where i'd make a mistake, not realize for a couple characters, and then struggle to get re-started on the word.
really fun and polished though!
Thank you, I was thinking how to add feedback for mistyping but did not have any idea. Do you think that adding a sound and small visual clue like minor screenshake or something when the key does not match ANY of the meteors on the screen would work? @badcop
hmm - I didn't think about the fact that there are multiple meteors on the screen together; that does complicate it a bit
I think maybe you could still have a sound cue when you make a mistake in the middle of a word? a screen shake might be distracting for a game where you have to read words. Maybe it could flash the word red or something briefly?
@badcop great idea! Thanks, I will think about it :)
Really enjoyed this one, love typing games so this one is right up my street. :) nice work
This was a lot of fun. As an astronomy nerd I learned a few words I didn't know before.
Echo @badcop that it could do with a bit more feedback when you mess up a letter, visual and/or audio.
Nice one!
Typing games are not really my cup of tea but this is very well executed. Really nice gamefeel and visuals. The game is simple but feels finished. Cute theming as well, love the game over screen.
I love typing games. Nicely done.
Graphics and music fit really well together. It feels like a coherent game.
The only thing that stands out a bit is the generated audio effects, because they clash a bit with the clean graphics, but other than using soundgens the only option would be to create the sounds yourself, which might have sounded a bit weird as well.
I really loved the UFO idea, it's a very easy word to type and saves you from a tight spot so you anticipate the next UFO's arrival. If only the rockets fired immediately... :D
A few technical thoughts:
* I think it would have been nice to have blanks and dashes optional which is pretty standard in typing games * Continuing the game after a loss does not seem to reset the word difficulty. My first playthrough had short words in the beginning, my second one started right with two-word concepts. After reloading the page, the first playthrough was easier again. * The rockets do not always hit, likely because one rocket can hit an asteroid that is in the way of its intended target and then the other rocket has no target anymore and shoots off. A solution would be to assign each asteroid its own "private" rocket and don't measure collision with any asteroid but only with the one the rocket was intended for. Or, maybe this was a design choice and the rockets are not meant to guarantee hitting their marks.
Overall very nice entry, I had a lot of fun and encountered words I never heard before.

Thank you so much for your encouraging comments! It is really motivating, I think after the rating period finishes I will fix some issues you mention!
@cerno-b , thank you so much for detailed feedback - on the first point, I realized that late in the evening that it would be much nicer experience to have the whitespaces and - optional but unfortunately I already was running out of time :(
When it comes to the difficulty level, you may be right, probably I have missed it when setting up reseting! Thanks for spotting it, I will fix it!
Regarding third point, the rockets are instant but are fired from wrong locations (any random point located 'on earth' which is not optimal), also their react only to the 'target meteor' - so they do not affect other ones even if they collide with them buuuuuut, I probably have done a sily mistake somewhere in code - I noticed it during play testing but as as with the spaces & dashes - the time wasn't too kind to me haha.
Regarding the sounds - I wanted to make everything myself for the jam, but this will definitely be first thing I will replace after the rating period ends :).
This game is so polished I love it! First time playing a typind game and I was not disapointed! good job
Fun gameplay. Super graphics. Great work!
A nice and simple typing game! I really enjoyed it a lot! Great work!
Simply amazing! Incredibly polished and easy to pick up. I loved the small details like light from the meteors lighting the earth when they were in close proximity. Very cohesive and fun to play! Screenshot 2022-04-04 192534.png
Good game and nice art style! Nice work!
Great game, really nice art, very well done.

This was a super fun game! Man, the music, the art style, the gameplay, all connected to each other very well.
I really don't have much critique to give you. I liked almost all of it.
The one thing I will say that bugged me is that, when you finish one word, if the last letter is the same as the first letter of another word, it will count that letter already typed on new words. This is counterproductive imo and distracting because normally, you see a word (lets say Exoplanetary) and you type the whole thing, then you are looking at another word as you finish (lets say, Yellow) and so you immediately go to type "Y" to begin Yellow. But since "Y" has already counted, you type "Y" and it gives you the error and makes you restart the word.
I like to think I type fairly fast, so I type the whole word really fast, and it totally messed me up a few times because I knew i typed "Yellow" (example) correctly, but the word didn't go away because it started with the "Y" filled out from a totally different word.
Anyways. Overall this is a really great game. Fantastic work!
Solid stuff. Reminded me how bad I am at typing, but other than that, no complaints.
Thank you everyone for your fantastic comments. It is so encouraging and motivating. You are all amazing <3.
@william-corrin, thank you so much for your detailed feedback - I added the issue you mention to the list of items to be fixed after the rating period is over :). Thank you so much! I knew something was 'off' but couldn't really grasp the idea of what it was! :)
I guess im a slow typer or do make lots of typing errors ;D Took me some tries to figure out that on the formatted ones i have to use space instead of enter. Really nice looking graphics. Ufos were also very satisfying to type out when it occured! As @william-corrin mentioned that if you finished a word and another one had the same chars at the start was sometimes confusing. Nevertheless a fun and good looking typing game. Cool entry!

@rhewid thank you so much! Your score is not bad at all! I am very happy you enjoyed the game :)
Great game, I had a lot of fun! We went with a similar concept and it's fun to compare. The difficulty ramped fairly slowly for me but it's hard to balance around everyone's different typing speeds.
@earlybard, in the 'full version' I plan to add difficulty levels to make the game fun for everyone :)
very fun game. I like it.
Love it! Fits the theme well and super juicy gameplay. I really like the art style with the thicker outlines (kinda give me blackthorn vibes). It started off semi relaxing for about 30 seconds, then you get overwhelmed by crazy space words ;) Nicely done
The artstyle is top-notch, and the visual and feedback from the typing is really good! Great job!
This is exactly what a Ludum Dare game should be. One mechanic done really really well. Great game!
Very fun and polished game! Big fan of typing of the dead and it was a great combo for this defense type of game. Visually very pretty and the music fit the game well, though the destroy-sound effect hurt my ears and I had to turn down the volume on my headphones. GJ Overall!
Very polished. The sound is a little loud, but other than that the game is great. The menu is nice, the music is good, the graphics are grabbing and pleasant to look at. Love it!
Very fun game. I dont normally enjoy typing games but the mood and visuals kept me enjoying it the whole time. Great work!
Great twist on the theme
Solid gameplay (very stressful sometimes hah), nice art design, well polished overall. The sound effects were a little loud imo, but otherwise great job!
Gotta get those words typin, otherwise we packin'!
Pros:
- Good take on the theme - Clean graphics, I like the miniworld designed Earth and lighly purpleish space. The background reminds me the same colors I put in my space game on my first LD Jam :) - Simple, yet effective gameplay - Music is a plus - Demanding difficulty - Trivia about space is also a plus ( I love r/space )
Cons:
- No possibility to lower volume in music / effects, which makes my ears go kaboom with every hit on asteroid - WebGL indeed has a problem with multiwords (Lost a damn century to it!) - Not quite sure whether you're able to target asteroids in any shape or form, but it looks like that's not the case. I think I understand the mechanic behind finding an object that fits the name. I just can't pinpoint this small issue I have with loosing the context of the asteroid I want to shot down. Or you can Ignore me on that one
Overall, a very well scoped and polished entry with just small caveats. But we all know, that COMPO is inevitably brutal (haha, I'll see myself off..)
The very nice final product. It's like a blast from the past. Haven't played that kind of game in a long time :P
Nicely polished game! I love the little UFO mechanic.
Really polished game and great how you added the word it teaches at the end! Great art and worked so well! The ufo is a great little touch!
I love the art and animation of the game. I wish I could type faster!
Yay, even more positive feedback! Thank you so much! I am really happy you enjoy my entry. @mikoziq, thanks for detailed feedback.
When it comes to the cons: - Regarding volume, switch on/off sound/music - it has been planned but it turned out to be literally the first thing to be descoped. I just didn't manage to add those features, even though their implementation would be pretty simple. - I have no bloody idea what is happening there regarding the multiword phrazes, it's one of the first things I am going to fix after the rating period is over. - You are not able to target specific meteors, I screwed a little bit design and basically double typing an initial letter is treated as an error. This makes it confusing from time to time - also one of the first things to fix :)
Try typing with both hands
There need to be more typing games! Heck yeah!! I sucked at it though!
Very nice game I need too play it more to get my typing skills up to par.
nice game with an interesting approach to the theme of this jam! great job
This one is awesome ! I love typing games and that was a very nice take on the theme with great ideas, such as the google search for astronomy words, good stuff. Very clean execution as well. Great entry, great job !
A very tight typing game, super enjoyable! Absolutely loved the UFO feature. The sfx could be a little less loud, had to turn the volume to almost 0 to save my ears :D Overall, a great entry, kudos!
really nice game!! i had a lot of fun and frustration in the same time. I'm not that good with blind typing so i would love to select an easy mode in order to be like an exercise. Overall cool game and idea Xiris.
Now i'm off to find typing exercises because i feel inadequate :P
Excellent entry. Also helps that I'm a fast typer, so it made me feel incredibly competent. Good job (and thank you).
Great entry, really well made and perfect for the theme! even though I'm terrible at typing games ToT. great submission!
That's a very neat idea!
Explosion sound was a bit too loud, to be sure, but still... very nice and elegant overall.
Annotation 2022-04-06 183851.png well done! Pretty enjoyable for a typing game! I don't normally have to think about where the keys are but when you put it in a game I suddenly cannot remember where to place my fingers! Really brings me back to my "Mavis Beacon teaches typing" days!
The typing input ability is very tight and challenging. But, as time goes by, there are too many letters and meteors! If the doom should come, I guess we should just let it go. :joy_cat:
The game is reaaaally polished, it definitely show your experience. Gameplay is thight and everything flows together.
But to be frank, the result doesn't feels original and the connection to the theme is "meh" at best ...
Anyway, congratz on the submission !
@olivier-millochau , thank you for the honest feedback! :)
Nice game ! Liked the gameplay, becoming more and more stressful. But the music is kinda violent sometimes. Good job anyway !
Cool art style. It's one of the most polished games I've seen so far this jam
I love typing game ! just i would like to see what we type.
It's a great idea and very well executed, I think the art and the atmosphere that make it excellent. It really was very difficult for me to write so fast jaja! The extra kite that passes faster is a great detail, well done! it was fun! xD
scrshot.png
I enjoyed your game a lot! The graphics and audio was great.
Some small suggestions to make it even better would be having different sound effects for when asteroids are hitting the planet and when you manage to blow them up, maybe a different font (hyphens were sometimes hard to see and D/R looked quite similar when it was going quick, e.g. DAY/RAY) and it would be nice if starting a new word didn't erase the first letter if you pressed the same letter again - specially if the last word ended in the same letter the next word begins with.
But that's really only nitpicky things, overall it was a great game and I played it for way longer than I thought I would. Perfect mix of stress and fun and it didn't feel like losing was the games fault, it was your fault for typing wrong/too slow. I also enjoyed how the asteroids had different speeds which made some strategy from the players side, aside from only typing the words as quickly as possible!
Thank you everyone for fantastic feedback!
@korfi , wow! That is amazing result! Congratulations! I am very happy you enjoyed the game. Thank you for mentioning the font - this is very good feedback that nobody yet provided! I will definitely adjust it once the rating period is over :)
Great art style.
Nicely polished and has a good overall look/feel. I'm surprised, honestly, to see so much love for typing games in the comments. I can't say I find the gameplay very fun.. But maybe that's just because I'm bad at it. I do think it's cute how the game offers astronomy concepts to learn about. That's a nice touch.
Really nice artwork and effects you got here! The typing genre isn't my thing (probably cause I'm not very fast, lol) but I see the appeal!
Great game! Good visuals and feels very polished for a compo game. The difficulty seems to ramp quite fast, though. Couldn't quite keep up. Not seeing the spaces you had to type visually threw me off and escalated my doom.
Good job!
Making a typing game for the Compo is really impressive. I loved the graphical style and the effects were punchy.
Super fun. Very polished. Educational. This was an exceptional experience that both my child and I enjoyed together. This is really neat. Well done!
Creative typing game! Really liked the provided link on game over to give the player something interesting to learn about! Could see this game actually be used in educational contexts!
Very fun and simple! The sound of the meteor exploding after you finish typing is especially satisfying. One little bug I found though was that the words don't change color for meteors with two lines when I type, so i thought it wasn't working. But overall great work!
@ycb21 , they do buuuuut... It's a poor design from my side - you need to press space. This was terrible idea and will be fixed as soon as the rating period is over :)
I enjoyed the game. I like the pixel art style. The simple game mechanics by typing words or keystrokes to destroy on coming asteroid or meteors bring back old times of Atari games. Good job
Funny and effective game! The effects are simple but it works really well :) The video with you dev journey was really cool. Well done!
