I wish I could give score for a promising concept, but that would be unfair. It would be fun to see it finished. The "jump on the kitten to kill it" is a nice touch and I can imagine some interesting puzzles around the idea (I love puzzle platformers). But yeah, I can't really give you any points for it. :(
Oh. And please give some hilarious animations when throwing the kittens (and make them really cute) so my pixelsadistic side can give you rep++.
A standard space shooter. I've never been a big fan of those so I don't have so much to say. The graphics was decent, not horrible but not fantastic either. The sound effects fits with the theme. It would've been nice with some music. It may be in space, but some heavy metal in the sound system is a must for every spacetraveler! (cat or not)
I liked it overall. It was fun and had a decent use of the theme. Nice tune. The graphics was kinda horrible with a odd choice of colours, but the animations was okay.
I really didn't like the level design though. I used a touchpad and had to move like a ubermensch just to stop them from dying so I could look for a solution. It may be a good idea to lower the quantity for higher quality levels, it may just be me though.
But good job overall, I had fun (with some amount of frustration) with it, and thats the most important.
Same thing happened to me. Just keep trying and rise from the ashes next time!
Don't get disencouraged by the harsh comments. I liked the concept and would have loved a more polished version. Points for actually basing the game around the theme.
Other have commented on it but it can't really be said to many times. Have a smaller hitbox than the main body. A player get's mad if he thinks he will make the jump but doesn't while he thinks he's lucky if he thought he wouldn't make it but does.
Oh, and nice job on the help menu.
GJ for a first game, I hope we'll see more of you next time!
Yeah. The jumping and gameplay sucked. I did like the text though (you should have someone to proofread next time).
The music was thrilling and gave a mood the game really shouldn't have considering the rest of it. Good job!
And then it's the graphics. I really wanna give you points for it, since I'm a sucker for the style. But I just can't objectively. :(
Didn't like the exit to desktop on death and the fact that I couldn't hit enemies without getting hit myself. Correct me if I've missed something. I have nothing against hard games, but dieing to more or less the first enemy because you can't avoid them isn't the right kind of hardness. It's a pity since I see great potential in it. Please make a full game of it. :)
I liked it. Funny, great exploration and unique. The music made it strangely moody, but the screen windows was giganormous for me, so it was half unplayable, will save for later and play some more. :)
Simple and fun, although not terribly original. Could use some more variation in the map. Nice graphics and looks polished.
Cute story and graphics, nice progression but waaay to easy. Would like some sound, the jump felt a little to weak.
Funny, Looks semi-nice but incosistent. I loved the animation of the people running away, but that may have been the weakest punch a giant have ever done. :D
Finished the story, fun and original. I could almost se religious undertones in the story and mythbuilding among the fishes. The sounds may have been a little to similiar for us with no musical ear.
Promising idea, but it lacks much, wich makes it hard to rate. It fits the theme decently. Please add audio next time, sound effects adds so much to the game. :)
Great work on the visuals!
I thought the game was fun, but a bit too easy when fully upgraded.
Kinda funny, kinda cute. The sprites and background are a bit inconsistent though. Would have prefered a bit of variation, but hey it's only 48 hours.
+ for music and soundeffects. :D
Great job!
Oh yeah I forgot to tell. Please name the zip-folder after your game and not after the event. I have to many LD23 and Tiny World-folders right now.
Kinda strange, it's too unpolished to give a fair rating, the physics really sucked. Would've need a double jump at least and less power in the jump, the title screen didn't look that nice, the text with white background gave an ugly contrast to the rest of the screen. The game would probably have been a lot better if you had a day more to work out the problems, it does have potential, just needs more polish.
Wow. Just wow. I loved it. Nice audio-visuals (Really nice style). It fit the theme perfectly. It's polished (I had a bug though, when i threw the earth past the exit on level 2 or 3. The introscreen was cool. The only complaint is lack of intresting puzzles. But you can't get it all in in 48 hours. :)
Cute and polished, would like some more content and variation.
It looks really nice and polished, the music doesn't really fit. The controls and mechanics feels good, I would like to be able to shoot in the air. Kinda abrupt ending.
Good job. :)
I didn't find it that hard or frustrating contrary to the rest of the commenters, but I'm a sucker for punishing games so I guess you have to take that in to calculation.
The soundeffects for the shooting was really annoying and I would like some response from the enemies when you hit them (soundeffect/flashing).
Kinda fun overall, could use some variation.
Nice looking titlescreen. Nice twist on the shoot'em'up. I liked how you stoped the player from spamming the shoot button by adding friendlies in the mix and how there are two health bars (ships + host). It lacked content, balancing and polish though and audio ofc.
There was a camera bug that only showed up when I uploaded and played through a browser, I did a quick and dirty fix by embeding it in HTML, I'm not sure if the fix was right before or right after the time limit. Just check the SWF directly to se it non fixed. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/24442039/LudumDare/LD23/Nobody/Nobody.swf
Oh, and the fix worked for Chrome and Firefox. But I just noticed it didn't work on Comodo Dragon (wich is strange since it's based on Chromium). It's too late to fix it now, just wanted to give you a heads up.
Pretty fun. I would recommend you to not have a Wall of text as instructions though.
Doesn't work for me. I get like 1 FPS on titlescreen (Windows 7 java 7).
Hi. Please note that I haven't read all the comments or tested the Post compo version.
First of all: The music is really nice.
The intro (and text) is REALLY slow, and the text doesn't contrast much to the background.
I like the mood.
The style's pretty cool but the crazy walking animation is a little too crazy.
You should probably have tried to polish the platforming physics before doing cutscenes and leveldesign, it's really akward.
The level design isn't the best, with backtracking that didn't give any satisfaction.
Is that shooting space bears? AWESUM!
I think this game may have been a little too ambitious. But that's okay. I don't like when people play it safe.
God job.
Cheers and hugs. <3
Great mood.
Suprisingly fun. Would've benefited a lot from audio.
Didn't really find it so hard. But lost interest after level 6, so it may have been harder after that. Nice execution.
I liked that you absorbed the colour and not only the mass.
Hey, screens and description looks nice. But it crashes on Start for me too. I've tried both Comodo Dragon and FireFox.
Cheers <3
Please don't spawn enemies right on top of you. :(
Nice game anywayz.
bushmango: "For Jam games, you are free to use whatever artwork or content you like" - will rate soon.
OK. I liked the concept, good take on the theme. It looks good. Could've been harder.
I loved it. Nice mood.
The lovely music got me pumped, the crazy animation made me smile. Nice visuals. Not much content though.
A little to slow paced for my taste.
Would've rated higher if it weren't for the unresponsive jumping. Kinda funny though.
Hi. I'm not sure if you are joking.
But you are aware that this is a game that shows middle age-values and then evolves them to more modern ones?
Or do you mean my anti religion-message? Well then. No I don't need to talk to someone, I stand firmly by them, but I'm open to debate.
And you are right. It IS okay to be gay, thank you for pointing it out Captain Obvious :). Sadly, most of the world don't agree :/.
Hi. No I didn't really have time to include any real critique against religion, I wouldn't even call it as offensive as I would've liked since I'm not attacking faith.
But the point was (or was going to be) the inevitably of cultural evolution. It doesn't matter how hard you fight it, you may only delay it, not stop it. In this case gay marriage. But the item and dialogue-system took so long time to implement that I couldn't do the stop the gay-marriage part.
And yes. The time may have been short. But I didn't have any playtesters to balance it out. The game was going to be about consequences and I didn't have so much content done. So I had to make the time limit short so the player wouldn't lose interest too quick.
Haha. So many things to complain at and you chose the language? :D
I rechecked the dialogue-file. And there's srsly less profanties than on a schoolground. 5% of the possible dialogue contains profanities and half of that is just more or less lines used by a rather well known church.
But well, I guess you are prude about language and that's okay, that's why I put a warning text in the description. Or are you the type of guy/gal who buys a porno and then complain about it containing nudity?
Besides. You shouldn't care about profanities, it's a beautiful way to express feelings. A sentence containing "bad words" is just as hateful as a sentence with the same meaning but no "bad words". There's however a big chance of it being less elegant and making the user look less intelligent.
Cheers and hugs bro. <3
My thought process:
Oh nice little game. It can't be so hard...
...Yes, yes sneeze on that bastard, now enter that door.
ten minutes later:
ENTER THE FUCKING DOOR DAMN YOU.
And yes I finished it. Nice game. I've seen disease-spreading games before but never like this. Some soundeffects would've been fantastic though.
Decent atmosphere, but the controls felt slow and wonky. I don't know if it's just my computer though so I'll try again tomorrow. The white page contrasted too much, so I had to change it to black to not kill my eyes.
The graphic looked good but a little incoherent. Nice music.
The bossfight was... wierd.
Hi nice style, but it's a little sore on my eyes.
The game concept is kinda cool, but I sadly lost interest pretty fast since there wasn't really anything to keep me playing. I think it would be better if it was played faster.
No first person possession? No can do dude 0/10.
...
Really nice game there. Could've used some more variety, but the lovely music (made me SID-nostalgic) made up for it.
There's one very big problem though. It doesn't work like it should.
Google Chrome/Komodo Dragon freezes after a while and Firefox is just too slow like stated. Haven't tried any other browsers.
I should mention that my computer kinda sucks though.
Hi. I loved the art style and animation, nice audio too.
The difficulty curve was all kinds of wrong though. The only level i had problems with was level 9, and I didn't even think about my block placement, just placed them. The game could have used a bit more varity too.
Oh and I found a bug (I guess it's a bug) and could reproduce it. I first found it on this:
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/24442039/LudumDare/screens/PrincessKeeperBug.png the block getting trashed didn't get destroyed, it was invincible. I experimented a bit and found out that this was foolproof too: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/24442039/LudumDare/screens/PKBug3.png. None of the little block got destroyed, no matter how much punishment they took.
Good job.
