Rude Bear Raid by Alex Rose 2015-04-21T04:16:00
Looks great runs smooth and well paced. Took me a minute to encounter another person but when we did it was cool.

Super floaty controls made that one section with all the turrets tough to get through. I like the idea of being able to cut down the projectiles. Makes the character seem powerful.
Really like the systems in place. A logistics sim could be a whole lot of fun. Probably a bit ambitious for the Jam but the seed of a great idea is there. Also shame about the theme.
He is throwing positive words. Its a text bubble that says YAY!
One of my favourites so far. I would maybe like a little more feedback to know that my attacks are working. Pig launching gun was incredible; it gets top marks for theme. Some of the sounds could be reworked. Great core concept.
I was able to post up to the side and just lean on a button to get them all. Some kinda of differentiation in either the gun or the enemy type would have made that better I think. Also some sounds. I did like that the hotdogs trajectory was a bit random. Like it was a home made improvised weapon of sorts.
I think just a little more variety in the platforming and delivery types. Burrito gun gets some great theme points from me.
Great work on the art. This could be the rest of the game that the kid is playing at the beginning of the movie big. Also one of the first entries I let my daughter play through given its inspiring message. Great job.
The bugs made it so I couldn't advance past the first enemy. However the cat with a laser pointer as a weapon is a good idea. I could see a lot of game play out of that (knocking things over to make bridges, reflecting the laser off mirrors etc.)
It felt like a machinarium / wall-e kinda game.It had some really great, satisfying little puzzles. One nice to have is a hover state on interactive items.
good use of contextual controls. I would have loved some mechanic to buy bigger watering cans.Hold more feed. etc. Just some way so I could start balancing multiple states for the crops. Also would have liked to see some easing in the transitions between the steps. One really great mechanic is that the dead plants yield seeds which means you have to decide how much of your crop to use for replanting.
Forgive the pun but this entry has the seeds of a great idea.
The ecosystem management is a good idea. finding eggs was very hard and I feel like you have to do that before any of the planting happens. Good motivation to get the dragon. All the elements balance well. Maybe start off with a single goat egg?
What if the controls were both thrusters and using both drove you forward but using one turned you around. Very much so like Solar 2 or maybe even katamari damacy.
The music was great. I really liked the character design. it seemed like it was an organic ship that had evolved to travel through space.
Some things to add would be an indicator for how far away the things are that the arrows point to. I travelled very far chasing one and never caught up to it.
The controls took a minute for me to figure out. At least for the web version I tried right click for the bottom punch and it brought up a context menu.
A bit repetitive. the music reminded me of the genesis shadowrun game which was great. Sometimes the gaps show up without time to plant a seed and I found that frustrating. Good main character.
Didn't notice the petal thing until I read the comments. The trajectory of the rockets could be a little more standard I had one rocket get fired at a weird angle and it lingered on screen for a real long time making it unavoidable. I did like the flower protagonist.
Looks amazing. Good challenge. maybe a little more leniency in the presses. grade them as weak - strong bonds.
Love the little super meat boy and minecraft creeper in there.
Very simple but very moving surprisingly.
Good little game I like the way the plants grow in it.
I love smooth animations over low fi art. That being said its a little thin on mechanics.
Scroll wheel and pan around is what is needed to find the viking village. Most of the action happened off screen for me.
I feel like as a player I lacked any agency in what was happening. I lost two trees to vikings before my squirrels confronted them.
It would be nice if there was some mechanic to bring the squirrels over.
just needs alot more for the player to do.
The graphics had a neat commodore 64 / atari vibe about the, and I dig that.
Great control scheme. Good use of the theme. I would like to be able to feather the buttons to get them moving and turning a bit. had some had some hard times when I collected the scrap and then went to collect what I thought was a power up and it turned out to be a bomb.
Solid entry reminds me of desert golfing. I will say on some of the higher par courses the ball gets a bit difficult to see. Also some indicator of when I can again begin my swing would be helpful. near full marks for mood from me as it really made me feel like I was golfing.
This was an ok entry. Until the snowball broke apart and made a multi ball thing. This made it an awesome entry. I know you were bound by the two button controls but taking control of the individual balls would have been cool. Still such a smooth transition from title screen to gameplay.
Had a hard time with this one. Coulndt get people to grow.
Solid entry. The movement needs a little bit of course correction / fine tuning but when I was able to fling my elephant to the top of the tree it was very satisfying. Loved the hand drawn sprites.
Combat was very rough for me and the pathfinding for my character was a little wonky But the art looked awesome and the boss character was especially great.
The music had me bobbing my head. difficulty curve could have been a little less steep on those levels and maybe some sort of purple phase mode would have smoothed out some of the more annoying switches. Good concept made me feel tension at the levels.
Quite charming.
If I had the ability to turn and move elements already in place I could imagine myself playing this game everyday on my morning commute.
Got it running locally.
Very political. Truthfully I like the little dudes and they animate well. Just not a whole lot to do.
Good puzzle concept. Sometimes it was too slow but then the double speed was too fast.
Fighting in the powered up form would have been awesome. I got the little heart stomp thing just took me a second to figure it out.
Good little mechanic
good look. Professional transitions. really solid. Some more animations would make this look very professional.
Controls were rough but it looked spectacular
Looked awesome. Good teaching per level of the various mechanics.
Challenging but good checkpointing. I didn't want to give up! Simple and fun. You can make a full game based on this!
When I got stuck in a whirlpool it nearly blew my ear drums out. That being said if I switched to the shark I could rocket out of the whirlpool. I liked being the dolphin with the rainbow marking my path. Also a great way to show I was jumping.
Really enjoyed it I felt like the mechanics were really solid
Needed some music but loved the aesthetic.
This is the best entry I have played so far. I was very engaged.
After the first run through I was wondering if my sword grew when I killed a novice. Is that true? I think more feedback on the players current state may be needed.
Great art style and level design!
Good concept, it can really grow from here. Add some sound effects and maybe some keyboard only controls. For your app, make the purple more discernible from the white for any colour blind ppl out there.
Super Cute splash screen. I lacked a second player so it was over too soon.
Needs that fail state. The undulating character was a bit confusing
I liked it. If I could point my character in a direction and they stayed in that direction it would be a good addition.
Always been interested in doing a pico-8 project myself. Good tension in each room. I had some problems knowing how many times I could attack before my weapon broke. Also couldnt tell the difference between the sword and the pick axe. Some more contrasting colors might make it easier to see what is in the room.
