| Aug 14 01:14:52 | Stack Master | ♥ 2 | Pretty great take on the Tetris formula ! The gameplay is intuitive, and the situations are varied enough to keep the game fun. However, to me, it almost feels like the hardcore mode is the intended way to play the game, being so much fun and all ! The graphics are nicely detailed, with some great shadows on the ceiling. The audio, too, is a nice addition. Overall, great work ! I would love to play extended modes of this, like hardcore mode variations, with maybe a longer jump and some stacking madness. | |
| Aug 14 01:34:06 | 19m 14s | Halcyon Woods | ♥ 1 | Great looks and great mood for quite a relaxing game. Sadly, there is no surprise to keep the whole thing fresh, and carrying the logs makes you slow to the point of boredom. To me, you should make it easier for the player to walk around your beatifully crafted game world, because despite it being made from Unity assets, you definitely nailed the feels and looks of a late-summer forest. |
| Aug 14 01:45:23 | 11m 17s | LectureRush | ♥ 4 | A lot of really great things to say about that one ! While the gameplay would benefit a lot from being introduced to the player step by step, it is definitely enthralling once the class is set in motion, with a good balance between reflexes and thoughtful chalk-em-up action ! I also really enjoyed the details of the faces of the students, and the humor hits home more than once. If anything, and as said earlier, the gameplay starts off being a little obscure, and the life of the teacher seems to behave according to some kind of black magic. But all in all, great job, guys ! |
| Aug 14 01:51:10 | 5m 47s | Cat Lady Simulator | ♥ 2 | Great game idea, and great minimalistic execution too ! The control scheme went a little over my head at first, but once I was used to it, I spent some excellent minutes trying to feed all these cats ! What impressed me the most was how to manage to organise their behavior on a console such as PICO-8... That's no small feat ! On the improvements side, I would try to vary the formula a little faster, as it tires out quite fast. Is the "choose level" button supposed to be usable someday ? If that's the case, do not hesistate to get in touch ! Great work ! |
| Aug 14 02:56:40 | 1h 05m | Spar! | ♥ 0 | Neat game ! My favorite part was that we were able to find out the sword's abilities (stronger when used closer, ...) by ourselves, thanks to the variety of situations. It's also visualy clean, without anything fancy but with an emphasis on readable action. I would have loved some special cubes as well as some soundtrack, but I guess space is not the only thing we were running out of during the jam... |
| Aug 14 03:09:36 | 12m 56s | Champion Chowdown | ♥ 3 | One of the funniest LD games I've played in a while ! The main thing I love about this one is the balance : ther's enough action to make you feel unsafe, but you're never really threatened and can actually finish the game ! The remarks of the ennemies very also really enjoyable ! My only suggestion would be to add more different interaction with the ennemies/type of ennemies, but at the same time it could make you lose the simplicity of the experience. Great work ! |
| Aug 14 03:17:01 | 7m 25s | Running Out of Space | ♥ 1 | Fun game, with an original take on the theme to boot ! The first tries are a bit awkward, as readability is sometimes an issue, but it gets a lot funnier when you start to understand what to do ! The HighScores windows is a nice touch. From a technical standpoint, I would not be angry with a standalone executable instead of an HTML only version, but that's a quirk of mine. Great job guys ! |
| Aug 14 03:26:11 | 9m 10s | Monkey Beat | ♥ 2 | Man, that's some great beats and flow you got there ! Aside from the great music part, I love the really polished graphics, as well as the immediately enjoyable gameplay. When I started playing the game, I did so on your old (and difficult) build, but the new one is already better. A little more visual feedback (sound/light) would help a lot I think. All in all, great job ! |
| Aug 14 03:33:04 | 6m 53s | An Ode to Space | ♥ 2 | Great take on the theme ! The graphics are serviceable, the gameplay was crystal clear, and the audio...man, I love that kind of move. On a personal note, I'm more on the "speedy" side of platformers, so I would be curious of what your idea would result in if the player had to make quick decisions instead of being able to rewind. Great job ! |
| Aug 14 03:42:32 | 9m 28s | Electric Fence - Micro B | ♥ 2 | "Simply moving is fun" Yes indeed ! The robotic noise helps a lot, that's for sure. As for the shooting, the feeling of the weapons was very satisfying, and it is a joy to (more or less) start to master both the movements and the aim. I would suggest to be less harsh on structural integrity losses due to walls in the first rooms, it makes the beginning of the game a little hectic. |
| Aug 14 03:50:48 | 8m 16s | You Wanna Pizza Me? | ♥ 1 | Great execution of a simple concept, although a little more polish would significantly better the game. On the other hand though, the controls are rock-solid, the music is top-notch, and the action is readable. Better feedback to help with the collision with the ennemies would help a lot, as death sometimes felt a little random. |
| Aug 14 03:58:31 | 7m 43s | Will Survive | ♥ 3 | The awesome intro cut-scene is not only one of the best grabs I've seen in a while, but along with the music, it helps setting a mood and an atmosphere the complements the limited but largely fun and serviceable gameplay. Great job ! |
| Aug 14 04:04:47 | 6m 16s | MoonSpell | ♥ 1 | Really pure and arcad-y experience ! I love the simple control scheme, and how you manage to create fair difficulity at the start of the game. This game also excells in making epic "end-of-stage" situations, where everything can be decided very fast. My only gripe would be that some sound feedback when you grab a shape would have been nice. Other than that, congrats ! |
| Aug 15 21:23:08 | 41h 18m | Space Inc | ♥ 1 | Nice little runner, the controls are clear and the whole thing plays quite well. The graphics are serviceable and the obstacles well placed, so that the game is never boring. On the technical side, the hole hitbox is a little larger than its sprite, and its arrow encourages to player to jump inside. Good job overall though. |
| Aug 15 21:33:58 | 10m 50s | A hero's journey | ♥ 0 | Had fun during my whole playthrough ! You should emphasize the importance of focus, as it is nigh-impossible to finish the game without it. However, once you find out about it, all the other special moves become almost useless, so that I forgot about them until when they were actually needed, against the boss... Sound and impact feedback would have brought the whole thing to another level. The music during the boss fight was a nice touch though. The graphics were serviceable, and the action was readable. All in all, good job ! |
| Aug 15 21:41:00 | 7m 02s | Into the Void! | ♥ 0 | I was pleasantly surprised by the fact that touching an asteroid only makes you lose time. I made for a very fun game that I could not leave without running out of space ! The starfield, while minimal, looks really good, and so does the cable holding back the astronaut. To me, some random background music, as well as a way to go faster (while increasing the number/speed of asteroids) would bring a lot to the experience. Nice job ! |
| Aug 15 21:52:00 | 11m 00s | It's All Falling Apart Like ... | ♥ 1 | Great game. Since I died instantly on my first try, the first feature I encountered was the player name generation, which is a nice touch. As for the game itself, the mechanic is clever and well executed. The ennemies acting independently were a great addition to the gameplay. Tweaking the controls might make the game more dynamic and allow for fast jumps and takedowns. All in all, great work ! |
| Aug 15 22:02:06 | 10m 06s | The Swarm | ♥ 1 | The game has some of the best weapon feel I've encountered during this LD ; blasting these little aliens is a joy ! The graphics are really neat, and make for a blurry/distant aesthetic that adds a lot to the mood of the game. The audio was great too. Changing the placement of the life/ammo indicators would make the whoole thing a lot clearer and easier, it's not always easy to keep an eye on your health while shooting your way to a new highscore. |
| Aug 15 22:11:57 | 9m 51s | COLLAPSE | ♥ 0 | Nice little game, with a proper implementation of the theme ! While the idea and level design were good, I had some issues with the controls (spacebar does not always make you jump, huge lateral acceleration, collision with the platforms) that made it quite difficult for me to clim the whole thing. Some advice for your graphics : I actually tend to do things the same way, with big pixels and all ; but using a palette like those given by websites like paletton and coolors would help you improve your visuals without having to become a spriting genius. All in all, nice work ! |
| Aug 15 22:18:48 | 6m 51s | Escape Alienation | ♥ 1 | Nice game ! Like others said, the wall are getting close to you a bit too fast. Being able to shoot in other directions independantly of your orientation would make the game a lot easier and enjoyable, especially with so many ennemies. However, killing them was really satisfying, with nice visual and audio feedback. Good job ! |
| Aug 15 22:32:17 | 13m 29s | Descension | ♥ 2 | One of my favorite entries ! The puzzles were well designed, with a nice porgression curve. I also loved the ending twist ! The graphics were really nice, that Hotline Miami vibe is amazing, and the whole style is remarkably coherent. The audio fits well the puzzle solving mood. Great game ! |
| Aug 15 22:53:57 | 21m 40s | Maze Crusher | ♥ 1 | I really enjoyed the game. The graphics are nice, with the dragon stealing the show. The background music made for quite satisfying burn'em all experience. Regarding the gameplay, the first few waves were satisfying, with the controls being intuitive and the fire fun to pull off. By chance, was the link to the theme the fact that you could easily end up stuck ? I did not really had the problem, seeing that one can fly anytime at the moment. |
| Aug 15 23:10:49 | 16m 52s | Black Friday | ♥ 1 | Great idea, and cool take on the theme ! I though that the client swarm mechanic was quite well implemented, and that the various powerups/actions were nice. Reducing both the whistle and gun cooldown would make crowd control a little easier. |
| Aug 15 23:16:37 | 5m 48s | Footprints | ♥ 1 | I really loved the way you arranged simple form in order to build a minimalist but gorgeous game. Props to the sound design too, as it greatly contributes to the creepy atmosphere of the game. On the gameplay side, the shooting works well. It's though, but not unenjoyable, due to the said atmosphere and to the fact that ballons are such a joy to pop. Great work ! |
| Aug 15 23:25:01 | 8m 24s | Three Men in a spaceship (To Say Nothing of the AI) | ♥ 2 | Great concept, totally thematically adequate. Aside from some buggy text around the notifications screen, the UI was great. Changing the faces depending on the contentement level was an awesome idea. The difficulty curve was a bit steep, with you drive filling up really fast. For example, some "emergency" action, allowing you to clean up the hard drive at the cost of the stability, would be a nice addition. On the art side, the game is quite beautiful, and the audio is a nice addition. Propos to the character design ! |
| Aug 15 23:31:43 | 6m 42s | Void Era | ♥ 0 | Fun clicker, and a cool take on the theme. Limiting the range of the gun/staff is a great idea, as it forces you to move around even without the ennemies shooting at the player. I only wish the game became harder faster, as I would make the start of the game a little more exciting. The art, end especially the sound, were a great addition to the game. All in all, a solid entry ; good job ! |
| Aug 15 23:38:58 | 7m 15s | Armageddon | ♥ 2 | Great game ! While it is a little too hard to be thoroughly enjoyed, I loved the idea and the first few seconds of each playthrough, as the game is so fun when the fire is still manageable ! I am really fond of your use of trixels as well as the background music. Really, all your game needs is some balance, and you've got yourself a little gem. Great work ! |
| Aug 15 23:47:25 | 8m 27s | Space Collapse | ♥ 0 | My first contact with the game wasn't too good ; but once you understand how the controls work (the ship always pointing towards the sun is a little disorientating at first), it gets way better. I love your take on the shoot'em up genre, as well as the twist on the theme. The text is also a great addition to the game. All in all, great work ! |
| Aug 15 23:54:00 | 6m 35s | HUBOTS | ♥ 1 | Nice little game ! I really liked the graphics and the way the bots and the boxes behave. A little more visual feedback to indicate which box is taken would be helpful. The sound design was quite refined too. In the end, I only wish there was some kind of tutorial at the start, to help you understand better how to do well through the game (split your bots, anticipate the boxes, ...) |
| Aug 16 00:02:37 | 8m 37s | A Way Out | ♥ 1 | Nice little game ! I love how you made the game look and sound nice with clever use of minimalistic assets. There is also some nice visual feedback when you hit the wall or get hit by an enemy, and that makes for a game that is really readable and fun to play. Regarding the gameplay, it is thematically adequate and never boring. Some other bullet types or ennemies whould have been a great addition, but I understand that your time was limited. All in all, great job ! |
| Aug 16 00:08:11 | 5m 34s | Edge of Abyss | ♥ 0 | Nice little game ! You kept the art simple, and that is for the best, as your game is really readable. Your take on the theme is clever, and makes for a fun challenge. However, the double click bug ruined many playthroughs in a really furstrating way ; once you solve it, you'll have a pretty great game on your hands ! |
| Aug 16 00:16:40 | 8m 29s | Rainbow Rave | ♥ 1 | I really loved your take on the theme, as well as the idea of unicorns partying hard ! Pros : - Controls are clear and functional (that is, until the unicorn has had too much of that unicorn-brewed stuff) - Fun gameplay loop - Extremely beautiful and colorful visuals - Great music - Funny context and presentation Cons : - Puking is a fun mechanic, but it would be even better to be able to anticipate it - The camera is a little far from the action All in all, great work ! |
| Aug 16 00:21:58 | 5m 18s | High Tide [html5] | ♥ 2 | Pretty great game ! The fact that you essentially built it from scratch makes it even better ! Pros : - Clear controls - Nice tide and height mechanic - The music and the graphics are adequate and give a great retro vibe Cons : - I encountered some problems with the laser (does not it at close range) - Being able to move continuously would have been nice All in all, good job ! |
| Aug 16 00:29:29 | 7m 31s | Clot! | ♥ 3 | Nice take on both the theme and match-3 genre ! Pros : - Minimal but cute artstyle makes for readable action - Nice audio and sound feedback - Clever gameplay loop - Placement and frequency of ennemies is well balanced - Controls are displayed in-game Cons : - Pushing blocks together is hard, much harder than the normal dash - Instant death is a little frustrating in this case All in all, great job ! |
| Aug 16 00:35:29 | 6m 00s | Constellations | ♥ 1 | I really enjoyed the relaxing mood of the game ! Great work ! Pros : - Crystal-clear controls and gameplay - The music, and the way it articulates with the stars' sound, is absolutely amazing - Clean graphics - Relaxing gameplay makes for a fun and puzzle-like experience Cons : - Having to move the camera is a little annoying at times |
| Aug 16 00:46:40 | 11m 11s | The Curse | ♥ 1 | Nice game ! The mood and the visual details really drew me in. Pros : - The graphics : beautiful, detailed, and really contribute to tour game's identity - The moody sound - The idea of mixing a "runner" with point-and-click-like riddles is a great one - The riddles themselves are great Cons : - Choppy framerate in some places - Tenuous link to the theme Additional remarks : - I only found one relic, when three were advertised, before the game told me to restart : did I miss something ? - Using Q & D as default move keys is not the most practical for non-AZERTY users ;) |
| Aug 16 00:51:37 | 4m 57s | In Roll The Waves | ♥ 1 | A superb take on both the theme and the snake genre ! Pros : - Well designed puzzles, and crystal-clear controls - Soothing pixel-art visuals and audio - Great difficulty curve (the way all the mechanics are presented through successive puzzles is amazing) Cons : - Wish there was more ! - Sometimes the wall do not seem to get close in a linear way |
| Aug 16 01:01:07 | 9m 30s | Data Runner (LD42-Jammer Edition) | ♥ 1 | Nice game ! The graphics were quite spectacular, and the scoring mechanic is nice Pros : - Wonderful graphics - Moody audio that greatly contributes to the atmosphere - Score through no-collision is great Cons : - Wonky controls - Tenuous link to the theme - Framerate problems when doing freelook All in all, great job ! |
| Aug 16 01:05:44 | 4m 37s | RGBot | ♥ 1 | Fun platformer, thematically adequate and full of clever riddles ! Pros : - Clever energy and color-switching mechanics - Tight controls and clever riddles - Great link to the theme - Several audio tracks - Functional graphics for readable action Cons : - (Subjective) Would work better with shorter levels, with one/two riddle at a time - A little difficult at times All in all, great work ! |
| Aug 16 01:12:19 | 6m 35s | Dear Leader's Diet Plan | ♥ 1 | Hilarious game, what a take on the theme ! Pros : - Great mechanic and idea - The music is top-notch - Serviceable graphics make for readable action Cons : - Controls start off being a little wonky (although it gets beeter once we're used to them) - A clear (numbered) indicator of when we're thin enough would help Great job ! |
| Aug 16 01:20:36 | 8m 17s | Feed Us | ♥ 1 | Really polished entry ! Wish there was a little more context/tutorial at the start... Pros : - Breathtaking pixel art - Great sound - There is some kind of interesting backplot with these ever-angry animals - Nice UI/drag and drop mechanic - That game over screen... Cons : - Steep difficulty curve - Meals appear randomly in your fridge : unless I missed something, it is frustrating to lose because the right meal did not show up at the good time All in all, good job ! |
| Aug 17 01:30:00 | 24h 09m | Malthusian Cathouse | ♥ 1 | Okay, that's one of my favourite LD42 entries so far. Pretty minimal, sure, but the humor, the dialogue, the mechanic are absolutely on point. Pros : - The roommate and its timing thoughout the game, comedic genius - Simple but readable graphics and action - Good sound design makes for easy interaction with the cats - The layout of the room and the cats'behavior help build an okay difficulty curve - Great implementation of the theme Cons : - Some background music would help - The cats'hitbox is not that clear ; it would help to get some visual feedback to better show which cat is selected. Awesome work ! |
| Aug 17 01:38:26 | 8m 26s | ChromeStuck | ♥ 1 | Nice little game ! The concept makes for a fun implementation of the theme. Pros : - Strong concept, and great link to the theme - Clean graphics and sound effects : the action is readable - Great UI, with the life displayed on the player and on the enemy. Cons : - Confusing control scheme : I would advise to put the rotation on the right joystick while allowing the player to choose between a much more limited set of colors To be honest, I am really curious of what you will make of your idea ! Here's hoping for a post-jam version ;) |
| Aug 17 01:50:25 | 11m 59s | Spiritship | ♥ 1 | I really, **really** want you to do "something nice with this one day". The mood, the art, the music, and even the way you designed your unfinished game to be enjoyable say a lot about your respective talents. Pros : - Incredible graphics and amazing audio make for the most successful melancholic atomsphere I encountered during the jam - Strong concept, nice take on the theme - The experience itself is funny, I legit roamed through the whole place to look for more messages Cons : - Bugs (at my first playthrough, my sprite got really small and was thrown into space) - I want more ! All in all, great work, and I look forward to your future entries ! |
| Aug 17 02:00:22 | 9m 57s | Cell Trapper | ♥ 1 | Fun little game ! I loved your mechanic and your take on the theme. Pros : - Strong concept, with a deep connection to the theme - The "R" mechanic is a great risk/reward mechanic - Well-balanced difficulty curve - Simple graphics and good audio feddback wake for readable action Cons : - Wall control scheme is a little wonky at times (when you are close to the borders of the room for example) - Some background music would be serviceable All in all, great job ! |
| Aug 17 02:12:13 | 11m 51s | Floating Island | ♥ 0 | A gorgeous game, with a strong mechanic that makes for a nice implementation of the theme. Pros : - Beautiful graphics, and really readable game. I also loved the water effects. - Clever and addictive scoring mechanic - Controls are minimal, but totally functional Cons : - The UI is okay per se, but an improved UX (in-game tutorial, visual feedback, ...) would help a lot - Some more audio would improve the mood a lot All in all, great game ! |
| Aug 17 02:19:49 | 7m 36s | doof | ♥ 0 | Beautiful hand-crafted game with a nice twist ! Pros : - Beautiful hand-drawn graphics - Relaxing soundtrack - Some great gameplay challenges as soon as the first levels, made possible by the good controls - Lots of content Cons : - The physics of the player are good, if a little fast - Erratic behavior of some platforms Overall, nice work ! |

Pros : - Fun concept, and great take on the theme - Visual identity on point - Catchy chiptune background track - Excellent level design - Limited number of jumps gives a puzzle vibe to the game Cons : - Floaty controls make for a steep difficulty curve Overall, great job ! |

Pros : - Great concept, and innovative take on the theme - Addictive score system and bug-free (???) implementation - Polished graphics and audio give plenty of feedback to the player - Hilarious voice over - Balanced difficulty curve Cons : - By definition, harder for non-qwerty users - Restarting a game takes a little too long All in all, excellent work ! |

Pros : - Beautiful graphics - Crystal clear objective and rules - The music builds the mood very well Cons : - Controls (especially rotations) are a bit wonky - The first person view makes it difficult to anticipate ifyou are going to skim the obstacle or just lose the game. |
| Aug 17 03:10:32 | 7m 39s | Ouch! | ♥ 1 | Great game, with a simple but really polished mechanic that entirely fits the theme Pros : - Delightful retro aesthetic, with that nice "weird RGB colors" shader - Crystal-clear goal and controls - Discovering the powerups is a joy - Nice audio feedback Cons : - Steep difficulty curve because of the movement physics and the accurate hitboxes - Having the current best score displayed would be nice All in all, excellent work ! |
| Aug 17 03:30:23 | 19m 51s | XORN: The Fallen God | ♥ 3 | Awesome game, with a great level of polish ! Pros : - Beautiful graphics and effects - Awesome background music - AZERTY support, and controls in general are crystal-clear - Nice implementation of the theme - Addictive thanks to the card system Cons : - Lack of audio feedback when hitting an enemy - Waves are a little long - After a while, ennemies spend most of their time falling in the holes All in all, great game, definitely a favourite. |
| Aug 17 03:44:05 | 13m 42s | Follow Line | ♥ 1 | Great game ! Platformers are usually so reliant on hand-crafted game design, making a good procedural one is an achievement. Pros : - Great concept, thematically adequate - Controls are responsive, and the character's physics are great - Readable graphics, good sound feedback, and excellent character animation - Procedural design produces a large number of situations Cons : - Some difficulty spikes linked to the procedural generation - No score meter to track your progress All in all, great work ! |
| Aug 18 11:32:34 | 31h 48m | Mindlapse | ♥ 3 | Great game ! I immediately fell in love with your distinctive art style, as well as with the general mood of your work. Pros : - Unique, beautifully crafted graphics - Great background music make the mood even better - Easy-to-get-in gameplay loop, with an intuitive control scheme Cons : - Difficulty curve a little too flat (maybe kill the player when he has no brick and gets hit) - Hitboxes are not always consistent All in all, great job ! |
| Aug 18 11:40:57 | 8m 23s | FoxyPops | ♥ 0 | Pretty nice game with a cutesy touch and some nice multifoxing action ! Pros : - Nice gameplay loop, with fun and addictive swiping gameplay - Great difficulty curve, the addition of a second fox is a brilliant idea - Cute graphics and audio (love the audio feedback of balloons popping) Cons : - A really short in-game tutorial would be a great addition - The hitbox to grab the foxes is a little small sometimes All in all, great job ! |
| Aug 18 11:48:39 | 7m 42s | Hell's Highway | ♥ 0 | Great finger-bending game with a nice take on the theme. Pros : - The premise, the gameplay, the behavior of the other cars are on point - The graphics and the audio are neat and make for a nice arcad-y Friday afternoon on the road - Addictive scoring system makes one want to try again and again Cons : - The behavior/controls of the player car is rage-inducing (slow sterring, strange acceleration, high boost cooldown, ...) |
| Aug 18 11:59:23 | 10m 44s | Iceberg Fall | ♥ 1 | Great game ! I loved the take on the theme and the way you polished your island, both on the "mechanic" and the visual side. Pros : - Nice breakup of the iceberg, coupled together with great water behavior - Gameplay and controls are intuitive - Snowballs are midly punishing, especially early, which makes for a balanced difficulty curve - Fun "stressful" music that manages to set a mood Cons : - Some kind of powerup usable to get back on track when your platform is already a little deep would be nice All in all, great work ! I managed to reach 90.4 |
| Aug 18 12:12:38 | 13m 15s | Phase Shift | ♥ 2 | Great platformer/shooter, with a clever space mechanic and an aesthetic reminiscent of Jet Set Radio ! Pros : - You definitely hit that Jet Set Radio fiber - Great audio, nice graphics and animation - Clever ideas : the matter gun is brilliant Cons : - Steep difficulty curve : the matter gun is really hard to master, and the ennemies are unforgiving - When next to the edge of a platform, the character animation glitches, which is a little confusing when trying to aim with the matter shot All in all, nice work ! |
| Aug 18 12:23:57 | 11m 19s | Airlock Gridlock | ♥ 2 | Woaw, super polished entry ! There were a ton of varied and fun challenges hidden in this gem of yours ! Pros : - Easy to learn, hard to master : the tutorial gives you all you need to start, and the game further builds on these concepts to build something quite complex and unique - Crisp pixel art and great sound design make for a great space merchant mood - Clean UI (the transit zones are great), controls and balanced difficulty curve Cons : - It would be nice to teach the player of to manage disasters as soon as the tutorial All in all, great work ! |
| Aug 18 12:32:48 | 8m 51s | VoidStalkers | ♥ 1 | Great old-school-feeling game ! The game feels very energetic from the first seconds of gameplay, and that is something that's pleasant to see. Pros : - Great animations, old-school pixelart and shooting feel - Clever mechanic and take on the theme - Controls work well, and there was no problem whatsoever with the ever senstive hitboxes Cons : - Tough as hell : maybe reset the wall position when the spider is beaten ? - Your great pixel art would come out better without antialiasing Overall, nice work ! |
| Aug 18 12:54:17 | 21m 29s | Pre Alpha Build | ♥ 1 | Awesome puzzle/tower-defense ! Your take on the theme might be one of my favourite concepts of the LD. Congrats for putting all that together in a mere 72 hours ! Pros : - Strong concept, almost flawlessly executed and thematically adequate - Nothing gives me more joy than mixel art that crisp - Great soundtrack makes for a great "end of the world" mood - In my opinion, balanced difficulty curve - "Help ? Nope." Cons : - Some form of in-game tutorial would be very helpful Anyway, that's an awesome entry, that could totally be polished into a releasable game. |
| Aug 18 13:02:34 | 8m 17s | Sinking | ♥ 1 | Nice platformer. I loved the fact that there was an in-game tutorial, it helped a lot for the (really tough) beginning of the game. Pros : - Various interactions aside from jumping, well-explained by an in-game tutorial - Nice graphics and visual effects - Great take on the theme Cons : - Difficulty curve a little to steep All in all, good job ! |
| Aug 18 13:08:03 | 5m 29s | TrackBlasters | ♥ 1 | Great racing/survival game. Congrats for you imaginative take on the theme ! I found the difficulty curve to be quite hard, but the overall polish of your game is so great, I could not stop playing and managed to do some progress. Your crisp pixel art is glorious, and the background music is excellent. All in all, congrats for the great entry ! |
| Aug 18 20:34:35 | 7h 26m | Sthog | ♥ 2 | Fun entry ! I had trouble getting what to do with this tea at the start, but in the end I enjoyed my playthrough while it lasted. Pros : - Pretty graphics, there was a lot of surprising things to see, especially when the improbabilities kick in - Great audio, that makes for some kind of urgency mood - The mechanic is clever, and could result in something great if polished - Intuitive controls Cons : - The lack of some in-game tutorial makes the end goal difficult to grasp - The important elements are not that visible, and in a weird order (it would be more intuitive to stumble on the generator first, then the pot, then the big pot - Collision problems on ladders All in all, nice work ! I'm eager to see what you'll do next with such a team. |
| Aug 18 21:03:05 | 28m 30s | Mini Micro | ♥ 1 | Great entry ! I am really fond of the way each mechanic is introduced, and while the complexity of the tracks escalates quicky, the difficulty curve remains manageable, thanks to the fact that data entering the wrong spots is not too punishing. Controlling everything with the mouse is a joy, and make for a very intuitive and relaxing control scheme. Regarding the visuals, they are minimal, sure, but there is plenty of visual and audio feedback to provide information, and minimalism makes the whole thing much more readable, which is fully needed, seeing the intricacies of the levels. The background music also make for a slightly sinister, but brainy mood. As for the game design itself, there is not much to complain about. Each level feels carefully crafted, and while they might seem really undecipherable at first, they soon appear to be manageable, and satisfyingly so. My only gripe would be that, when your action plan is set, it is impossible to accelerate the whole thing. A way to solve that would be to add some fast-forward mode, or to punish more missed data while rewarding successful data more generously, thus speeding the level while adding tension. I also stumbled on levels that ended at 90%, allowing me to go to the next levels without any punishement. Was this initially intended ? Is the additional time spent due the fact that I did not reach the 100% my "punishement" ? In the end, I had a lot of fun, and this was certainly one of my favorite puzzlers entries this LD, and one of my favorite takes on the theme. By the way, I came here after seeing your in-depth review of Sthog, and loved your honest and uncompromising take on the game. Would you mind having a look at mine, with the same tone ? (Not necessarily in the same *expansive* way though, I do not mind quantity ;) ). |
| Aug 18 21:17:34 | 14m 29s | Outta Space | ♥ 1 | Excellent work ! I loved the aesthetics and the level of polish above all, but even the gameplay loop was fun and addictive ! Pros : - Beautiful visuals, with pixel art so crisp it brought me true joy - Great music, with several tracks depending on the situation - Great polish overall : I did not encountered a single collision bug, and the ship handles perfectly - The humor and the easter eggs are on point Cons : - The loop gets a little shallow after a while, since I did not encountered any additional challenge - Are upgrades available ? Did I miss something ? Overall, great job ! Keep it up ;) |
| Aug 18 21:32:11 | 14m 37s | Changing spaces | ♥ 1 | Great entry ! I love the concept, and I found the gameplay loop to be quite addictive. Pros : - Intuitive controls scheme and clever "no-walls" mechanic - Easy to do some crowd-control with the ennemies - Minimal graphics make for readable action - The special mode is genius - To me, the difficulty curve is balanced ; I managed to reach 143, and I'm not even good. Cons : - Audio feedback/music would be very welcome - Some enemy spawns are unfair - A short in-game tutorial would help a lot All in all, nice work ! I would love to see a post-jam version of this one. |
| Aug 18 21:52:55 | 20m 44s | Running from ⭐⭐Space⭐⭐ | ♥ 3 | Nice entry ! I particularly enjoyed the grappling hook mechanic (and, as others, I feel that it would have been sufficient to obtain an awesome game). Pros : - The grappling hook : easy to use, hard not to f*** up. Lovely ! - The graphics : asteroïds at their best, all in my browser - The background music is always a welcome addition - Minimal UI, maximum readability Cons : - The gun had potential, but is overshadowed by the hook - If would be nice to see in advance if we are close enough to hook (colored reticle, for exemple) All in all, great job ! |
