These are some really cool graphics! The game overall is entertaining, but the graphics are fantastic. Really cool stuff, Great Job!

casa-ocho 2021-10-05 00:22

Amazing concept! Thought both tasks were related to food, so the rover one definitely surprised me! I wasn't able to beat the second task though, I don't know if it was a bug or what, but I was only able to see 1 page in the book, I never found out what the purple light was.

yogurtthehorse 2021-10-05 00:35

@casa-ocho. We forgot to illustrate it and scary to make changes after deadline, it is stated in the description :)

13x666 2021-10-05 00:38

@casa-ocho press W! It was supposed to wipe the sand off the solar panel after the sandstorm. But the effect is both invisible and undocumented. Oops.

And thanks!

mfauzan 2021-10-05 07:50

awesome graphics! and the game is also fun even though I had a hard time at first

publicidadeba 2021-10-05 11:51

08:51 AM and 05/10/2021, at the the current time this is the BEST visuals in whole LD49. Gameplay could be a bit more inviting, a bit too hard for me.

yogurtthehorse 2021-10-05 12:32

@publicidadeba glad to hear you liked our style! We wanted to make first level a simple tutorial, but development is so UNSTABLE so everything went out of control :( I guess you'd like to hear @13x666 made me remove salt mechanic from on-screen left button to keyboard's Q to make it easier

rafael-garcez 2021-10-05 12:39

beatiful art and cool music!

bastienre4 2021-10-05 12:39

It's a bit hard at the beginning but wow, it's georgeous. Congrats.

tyler-hahn 2021-10-05 12:42

Fantastic illustrations and overall fun gameplay. Took a sec to figure out how to play but after I got it, it was entertaining. Nice work!

spawnie 2021-10-05 12:54

Really nice graphics. Fun idea. I couldnt complete task n°2 at all on a azerty keyboard.

yogurtthehorse 2021-10-05 12:57

@spawnie there is a bug we will fix soon with purple LED. If it's blinking press W, that should help

sir-onionknight 2021-10-05 13:06

lol this is a very frustrating game but I enjoyed it regardless. I loved the pixel art graphics and how it didn't take itself too seriously while at the same time being very detailed. Having the sound effects and visual cues to tell the player what needed to be done was wonderful (with the exception of your purple light not being in the protocol issue lol)

spawnie 2021-10-05 13:11

It's no a problem with the purple led (I lose before that), it's juste that I don't know where all those keys are on a qwerty keyboard. even if i switch to qwerty it's really hard to perform.

angm-diemoon 2021-10-05 13:11

i realy liked it

marc-grabow 2021-10-05 13:22

Amazing art, flawless victor in that area! I wouldn't be surprised if you win in that category! :)

As for gameplay, that is a bit punishing and hard to remember all the keys to press, the learning curve is quite steep. As an idea, if a task would initially only require one button so one can get the hang of it. After successfully completing the task it could progress to that task level 2 which then requires 2 buttons and so on.

Also like the "juicy" feedback when pressing buttons etc, feels really good!

lawrence 2021-10-05 13:27

It was a bit hard to start, I read the book, then the lights started coming up and I totally forgot what means what. 😅 But managed to boil some nice spaghetti from the seconds try. Are the rules for keeping the right temperature and mixing actually the way you should cook pasta in real life? I just drop it into boiling water and forget about it for 10 minute or so. 😅

yogurtthehorse 2021-10-05 13:36

@Lawrence you don't do divine spaghetti usually. That's the difference!

louiejams 2021-10-05 13:38

Beautiful artwork! Unfortunately I wasn't able to figure out how to get past task 2, but will try again soon! :D

yogurtthehorse 2021-10-05 13:38

@marc-grabow we wanted to make a tutorial level and pasta level supposed to be that level, but, as I said, development is quite UNSTABLE and everything went out of control

shmador 2021-10-05 14:05

Super nice game, impressive art style and very fun self-improving gameplay. I believe there is a bug in task 2 where u lose hp without anything broken or no storm even when there isn't purple light. other than that very fun and beautiful game!

litos 2021-10-05 15:03

Loved the graphics and the first task. I think the unstable food is a great take on the theme, the rover was a bit of a letdown, but its also fun and fits on the Divine Intervention, Inc. narrative that is also pretty funny.

vlandemart 2021-10-05 15:25

State of art graphics, really amazing job.

Music perfectly fits gameplay really and sounds lovely.

Gameplay-wise this project is very interesting, for final player it is structured as follows: - Read manual - Try - Read manual again - Try - Learn manual by heart - Finish task

Buttons on the screen, the ones you called "fidget toys" are amazingly fitting in this style of in-world-UI. First thing I did (right after reading manual, of course) was clicking on all these buttons to get satisfying animations and sounds. Kinda sad not all of them were interactive, but this is just a note for future you.

Overall: Amazing, I've had my fun with this game

yogurtthehorse 2021-10-05 16:14

@vlandemart thanks for a review, nice to hear that! We have A GIANT BUNCH of sounds we didn't have time to add and that's really sad :(

erlioniel 2021-10-05 21:02

Okay, you did it, I thought that our game is about playing on piano, but this one is for sure a level up in keyboard-is-piano concept  A special respect for a quite cute pixelart, wish I can draw like this!

yogurtthehorse 2021-10-05 21:07

@erlionie I still want to add level where you have to hold Q and M while pressing F, but people say I am crazy. They think I don't know...

Thanks for a review, pray God to connect with us and add your piano to our game, we will be looking forward to it!

------------------------- /me looked into your portfolio

Ой, мы с Юрой весь день обсуждаем какой там у вас крутой концепт. Прямо ух!! Хотим релиз игры

13x666 2021-10-05 21:10

@erlioniel We had a literal piano level idea in our Trello for this game :D

Also, I can confirm: we're both deeply in love with your entry, it's incredible

yogurtthehorse 2021-10-05 21:22

@spawnie @casa-ocho we published a bug fix for the second task, maybe now it will work

deborah-messaoudene 2021-10-05 22:33

The art style is really impressive and very neat, I love it. The game play is also super cool and I really like how you imagine this game with the theme unstable. I found the beginning lacked a little bit of guidance but once you know what to do it is super fun !

drsmey 2021-10-05 22:35

Fantastic game! Great visuals and I like how simple the gameplay seems but is actually quite hard to remember all the steps at first. This could be a super cool minigame collection with more tasks overall. :D

frozenfire92 2021-10-06 01:48

Good entry! I really liked the art style. Each minigame felt unique and hectic which added to the fun. Keep making games

emaigualmc2-art 2021-10-06 04:48

Oh that bass in music I like a lot !! nice art also, great work!! xD

cabjhegas 2021-10-06 05:01

I loved how the game looks. The sound fit very well too. Good job

brainloaf-studio 2021-10-06 05:23

Really fun idea! I love the frantic gameplay of trying to juggle 3-4 tasks at a time, and memorizing the keys that corresponded with everything. Having the entire game be functionally located on a tiny in-game monitor is also a fun touch, and I really like the entire aesthetic. Very well done!

thunderkerrigan 2021-10-06 10:29

Wow,that's impressive. Really digging the mood and the graphics. well polished, it's almost unbelievable that it was done over a week end.

goddoesplaydice 2021-10-06 12:23

The best visual on this jam! You need to be very focused to complete the tasks! This game is worthy of a full release :)

gdman 2021-10-06 13:02

Fantastic art and music. Gameplay was fun, albeit I would prefer to keep manual opened while playing.

However, there is need to rethink controls. For example, I was able to beat rover mission just holding all 7 keys

yogurtthehorse 2021-10-06 13:44

@thunderkerrigan actually we started on Sunday bcs of my university :)

thunderkerrigan 2021-10-06 13:57

@yogurtthehorse Oh come on man... I already felt ashamed but now that's just adding insult to injury ... congrats again

yogurtthehorse 2021-10-06 13:58

@gdman actually we had more tasks in that level but timeeeeee Снимок экрана 2021-10-06 в 16.57.21.png

gdman 2021-10-06 14:11

@yogurtthehorse what I mean, when you hold A for example, SDFG should be disabled, etc.

ruofusun 2021-10-06 16:17

Really enjoy this game, one of my favorite so far! I can see it holds a lot potential for co-op mode that you can play locally with your friend. I also really like the design of the screen, it is very cohesive. Great work!

yamzho 2021-10-06 16:19

Ooooh ! I loved that one ! Well done !

13x666 2021-10-06 17:42

@ruofusun Thanks, nice to hear that! The co-op idea is pretty curious. We actually did bring up games like Space Team during brainstorm, and this setting could be a nice driver for a concept like that. We'll explore it for sure :)

lucdeligne 2021-10-07 03:50

This game's art is so gorgeous! I spent entire minutes just fiddling with the buttons.

Of course the gameplay is very cool too. I love these games where you're just a guy behind a screen or a desk.

muros 2021-10-07 12:17

Good game. Very nice graphics, beautiful and neat pixel art with good animation. I liked the gameplay. But unfortunately I had a bad time keeping track of so many parameters :(

kmor 2021-10-07 14:51

It was very interesting! Music sets a dynamic pace, and graphics complement it. It's great that there are several tasks and they are so different. The buttons around are the best. Definitely a good experience :) Thanks!

yogurtthehorse 2021-10-07 19:35

@muros divine protocol wasn't made by a human being to be easy, it was made to practice it as a holy truth, so it's pretty normal

firequake 2021-10-07 21:00

I absolutely love the concept and the idea of a Junior level divine intervention agent :D. The art is some of the best I've seen for this jam.the gameplay felt like the right level of challenging, although the second task definitely seems less complete than the first. My biggest complaint would be the keybindings on the second task, I ended up using both hands for the asdfg tasks and it felt a little awkward.

13x666 2021-10-07 22:42

@firequake You're absolutely right, the second task isn't even 50% of what we originally intended it to be: we started adding it several hours before the deadline, and it's a miracle it exists at all :D I agree, FG keys should probably be moved to something like KL so the level may be played comfortably with two hands. Once we get back to improving the game, that'll be part of it.

Thanks a lot for playing!

jon-nova 2021-10-08 08:54

I loved this game! it's so polished and has a good use of the theme. Would be cool to see a expanded version of this game.

kyrell 2021-10-08 14:07

Beautiful art and graphics!

sploky 2021-10-08 14:26

Really fun and polished game.

redsti 2021-10-08 17:40

really nice and fun game!

npr0nn 2021-10-08 19:39

I loved the art style and how well the gameplay flows, such an great game, I took a while to adjust to the controls but when I learned it was just fun making everything stable, I had an wonderful time playing it

montazhnikus 2021-10-08 19:48

What awesome graphics! Something reminded of the old game "The Neverhood". And all these buttons ... they can be used as anti-stress)

13x666 2021-10-08 21:17

@montazhnikus The art style came out like that because it started off as a rough sketch of “some device with a screen”, and then I refined it without messing with the shape too much, so it got this “clay-ish” quality, and I ran with it. When it started to look like The Neverhood, I even considered finding a Neverhood-like music to go with it, but didn't find anything fitting :D Neverhood is legendary!

Thanks a lot!

chairshot-games 2021-10-09 05:36

Cool game! Really liked the graphics and the music was relaxing. I found the puzzles fun but a little challenging, and I was able to eventually complete them (most of the challenge was just hitting all the keys in the mars rover level as they are very close by each other). I thought the theme was very funny and creative. Overall really unique and fun game. Great job!

purrseus 2021-10-09 12:12

Whoa! I NEED MORE OF THIS; WHY IS THERE ONLY 2 TASKS??

Seriously, this is exactly my kind of game. It's a bit like a simpler single player Keep Talking And Nobody Explodes. The whole presentation, nah, the whole game is perfect!

If you actually decide to add to it I will come back for sure!

13x666 2021-10-09 16:25

@purrseus Hahah, thank you so much! We really wanted to make more tasks, we had about 6 distinct ideas just out of initial brainstorm, and the concept itself seems endless. But we were lucky to manage at least two levels in the end (the rover level is actually very incomplete, it's a miracle it works at all, we started implementing it a couple of hours before the deadline!)

We're planning to expand the game, yup!

sakura-magika 2021-10-09 22:48

hi hi!

how funny that we made nearly identical games! i loved ye oldey timey computer aesthetic, and the tangible integration of the menu items / controls into the visuals.

i liked that for the pasta, you had to open the lid to stir / add salt. creating dependence between the temperature and these two other parts meant that i had to more closely manage the temperature, so that i had a buffer space for when i needed salt/stirring. the first time, i lost because temperature went to low when i needed to open up to stir.

critiques of your implementation:

the most important thing i found missing from your game was audio feedback, and more strong visual feedback, for pressing the various buttons. i often couldn't tell if i was pressing the right button, or what was happening when i pressed any button. i think getting this right is critical, otherwise i can't build up an intuition for the controls; how what i'm doing is effecting the game.

i think the learning curve could use work too, you throw a bunch of rules for what button to press under what circumstance all at once at me, and it was pretty difficult to get going. i think going step by step to gain mastery would let you make the latter levels more difficult, because the player has already learned the basics.

possible bug: i beat the first two tasks, but the third task never unlocked.

Screenshot 2021-10-09 153955.png

Screenshot 2021-10-09 154226.png

yogurtthehorse 2021-10-09 22:56

@sakura-magika thanks for feedback. The situation with our games are really fun, yeah.

About feedback: we had a whole bunch of sounds to add, our audio-designer was very kind to give all of them to us. BUT the problem is with time. We started developing only on Sunday and the second level we added in last like SECONDS before the deadline. And only half of it, bcs timmeeeeeeee. But we are going to polish game and publish it I guess, so the feedback sounds are only the matter of, again, time!

The learning curve... The thing is.. Pasta level supposed to be a tutorial level with like one or two tasks to manage, because you are a junior afterlife worker, right? But Ludum driven development (LDD) is very UNSTABLE and by the time we finished with engine of game we thought we have time only for a single level. The second one was added in the last hour or two. So we had to make something more than simply tutorial and here we are

Again, thank you for your feedback!

japayne 2021-10-09 23:02

Great original game! The art is amazing. It was easy to cheat on the second task by holding down all the buttons. Perhaps each button should have drained a power source, leading to failure if buttons are held too long.

yogurtthehorse 2021-10-09 23:03

@japayne yeah, you could read about situation with the second level the comment before your... TLDR: it's half-finished due time limitations. Thank you for your feedback!

simon-rahnasto 2021-10-09 23:12

Thank you so much for submitting this gem to the stream. I had a ton of fun playing it (though it wasn't easy when trying to concentrate on so many things and multitasking haha)

Very happy that I managed in the end!

Where does one even begin with a game like this? Well for a starter, the graphics are absolutely stunning! I love the idea and the execution is super good, it feels so polished. One of my favorite things was the fidget switch, the sound effect and visuals made it such a satisfying little detail!

I did not feel like the game was too short, this is a game jam entry. I would much rather play a short fantastic entry like this, than a much longer and less awesome game.

I would love to see you guys run with this idea and make more levels and add more features. Someone suggested making it co-op, like "Keep talking and nobody dies", that would be awesome. Either way, please let me know if you decide to continue development!

yogurtthehorse 2021-10-09 23:15

@simon-rahnasto thank you for your kind words!

You can follow up me on itch.io Ihttp://yogurtthehorse.itch.io) or @13x666 on twitter (http://twitter.com/13x666) and check for news. I guess we will have several updates :)

simon-rahnasto 2021-10-09 23:30

@yogurtthehorse Followed on itch and twitter, thank you!

rextgun 2021-10-09 23:53

theme graphics humor and mood are all 10/10. though the gameplay just didnt resonate with me, it certainly was satisfying getting the hang of wrangling that fucking spaghetti but. after that i was just to exhausted to continue, this might just not be my kind of game though so wont give you a low score for that. congrats on submitting and thanks for sending your game!

alanxoc3 2021-10-09 23:57

The graphics were amazing and the game play for the 2 tasks (I think there are only 2) are pretty fun. I liked the protocol book too. The only feedback I have is that it's pretty obvious the game is unfinished.

zachary-barbanell 2021-10-10 00:45

Amazing visual style, and great gameplay to boot. My only complaint would be that there's no reason not to leave the light on the whole time in task 2 - the first one felt much more fleshed out with taking the lid off affecting the temperature. If you were looking to further expand this, I'd suggest adding more 'familiar' tasks ala job simulator - it's funny that making pasta is hard because I know what making pasta is like, but it's not that funny that running a mars rover is hard because I don't have experience running a mars rover.

salohcin894 2021-10-10 00:48

Super cool vibe. I especially liked the art style and the music! It was super cozy and it compliments the "stressful" parts perfectly and keeps them in check.

jessefreeman 2021-10-10 01:00

Really great art style. Would love to see more tasks if you keep adding to it.

strega 2021-10-10 01:27

Really cool concept! The art and audio are really well done. It look me a few attempts to memorize the actions. I liked how each level had a different control scheme. I do wish there was a timer to show how much time was remaining.

13x666 2021-10-10 01:38

Thanks for all the kind words, guys! @jessefreeman @salohcin894 @alanxoc3 @rextgun @simon-rahnasto

@strega There actually is a timer in the form of the progress bar at the bottom of the screen, but it's a bit bugged and not working in Task 1, oops. Working fine in Task 2 though :)

@zachary-barbanell What's worse than just light, you can just hold E-A-S-D-F-G simultaneously and almost auto-win, but that's a secret! Good point about familiar tasks: pasta level was supposed to be an easy tutorial followed my more similar “everyday” tutorials before tackling mars rovers and geopolitics and mental health and other things the player is probably not used to controlling :D But time was really tight!

lucasvb 2021-10-10 02:10

Totally excellent art and sound/music design! The gameplay is simple but quite challenging and clever. Pretty polished overall too, I couldn't find anything that was particularly glitchy or poorly implemented.

I second everyone who would like to see a few more tasks implemented!

jpatchz 2021-10-10 08:32

This is a very good game, I like it very mutch. I personally into that type of game where you have to think and retry over and over until you realize the correct sequence of steps. I would sugest that the interactive elements on the screen were a little more highlighted, because sometimes I couldn't tell what were clickable or not.I hope you guys do continue the development of Divine Intervention.

coleslaughter 2021-10-11 00:11

[Thanks for submitting your game to stream!](https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1172137556?t=01h11m10s)

The personality on this one is top-notch. :ok_hand: Would love to see what y'all had in store for future tasks!

13x666 2021-10-11 01:49

@coleslaughter Hey, I'm glad you linked the recording! @yogurtthehorse was there with you on the stream, but I (the second dev) couldn't be there at the time. Seeing people play your game is always so much fun, had an awesome time watching you. Thanks for playing, and thanks for the feedback! :)

xpoho 2021-10-11 06:32

Оказывается, варить лапшу и управлять марсоходом - это почти одно и то же... Непонятно только, варить лапшу так же сложно, как и управлять марсоходом или управлять марсоходом так же легко, как и варить лапшу?

yogurtthehorse 2021-10-11 07:56

@xpoho марсоходом конечно же сложнее, ведь для этого нужно получить много разрешений и пройти кучу тренировок, а лапшу любой дурак делает. Логично же?

ardorugus 2021-10-11 10:47

Very nice design, but most buttons seem to not work and maybe the controls could be less complicated (and no recipe book to check with).

yogurtthehorse 2021-10-11 11:37

@ardorugus the book is like literally on the table. Check it out!

ardorugus 2021-10-11 14:20

I mean, loose the book and introduce the controls and narrative without it.

ardorugus 2021-10-11 14:22

@xpoho you're quite inventive in your feedback).

yogurtthehorse 2021-10-11 14:57

@ardorugus that would be another game, I guess :)

bluishgreenpro 2021-10-11 20:03

Fantastic art! The game-play is a little overwhelming at first, I'd love to see this broken up into more Wario-Ware-esque stages of difficulty so the player gradually learns all the controls over time.

tetrapteryx 2021-10-13 19:15

The art and music are both excellent, but I'm in love with the handwritten text! It fits in with the art style so well and takes the visual experience to a whole other level.

The gameplay is a little unforgiving to beginners, and maybe could have benefitted from a slower introduction of the multitasking elements so there's time to get comfy with each task individually before having to combine them, especially for the Mars rover where I struggled to memorize all the key mappings. But it felt SO rewarding when I finally succeeded at making pasta for the first time! I'd love to see this expanded with more tasks.

kiwi663 2021-10-16 15:27

Very funy game, I like concept and art

wyatt 2021-10-20 04:37

Really great graphics & audio - I love the sound and animation of the lever switch

llaumegui 2021-10-21 11:13

Congratulations, i love EVERY SINGLE PART of this game, it felt so polished and really well made, i wish there was more levels ! I'll definitely look forward for more content from you guys :)

13x666 2021-10-21 11:16

@llaumegui Thank you so much!

rjmarzec 2021-10-21 11:24

I absolutely loved the art style of the game! It reminds me of all the point-and-click games I would play growing up as a kid. Amazing job!

tayteus 2021-10-21 12:25

Oh ! We had the very same idea ! So fun ! 😂 Great job guys and very nice art. Come on play our god experience. 😉

13x666 2021-10-21 12:40

@tayteus Thanks! We absolutely will check out your take on the idea! :)
