Really cool idea, and for such a simple seeming concept it gets quite difficult.

Really cool idea, and for such a simple seeming concept it gets quite difficult.
Nice look into the past, very addictive and enjoyable
The music was good but the game was very generic and basic, I'd flesh it out a little
Strange concept but it had nice art
SO SORRY ABOUT THE MUSIC, SORRY
@kndx123 Great to hear you enjoyed it, I had some music but it wasn't public domain and had to rush that...mess together rather quickly XD
@DiegoCTorguet Thanks for the advice, I was a little unhappy with the levels but they used to be a lot worse :)
@lekiy Do you have the res folder in the same folder as the jar?
@lekiy Yeah, the library I used has some little quirks like that :)
@pixzleone Yeah, a twist would be fun but I felt I didn't have time
+rudinskiz Haha, neither did I
@rudinskiz Haha, neither did I (Sorry for messing up the reply there)
@Vaiaphraim Firstly, I was aware the lack of balance of the game and I did indeed shrink the player from 32x32 to 28x28, alas that wasn't enough.
The music is probably my proudest moment was indeed the music....aside from all other things :)
I will be sticking around for the next one, I loved the experience and the responses of the game, I'll try not rushing next time as well.
@rjhelms The idea came from my fear as such of how unstable and massive the Unix command line and it's undiscovered nature.
I do indeed agree completely with the fact the game needs more polish, it's my first LD I didn't have any real concept of the amount of time I really had.
I will be sticking around for the next compo.
@sn0uk thanks
@lordvorath Yeah, I did say in the decription that the doors where hard to find XD
Also yes, the music was terrible, yes.
And I hate this sort of advertising but I'm developing an open-source 2D game engine and posting updates of my game on my twitter (as well as some other crap) if you'd like to pop over
@yotam180 Yeah, I focused mainly on the gameplay and story, I used like 4 sprites through the entire game and the music was thrown together like 4 minutes before the deadline :)
@epb9000 Glad to hear you enjoyed it. Yeah the doors are the worst asset in the game :)
The game looks and plays nice, very solid entry
Very good at messing around with our expectations of what the game was, and the core gameplay was fun too
Bit buggy yes, but that is to be expected, we only has 2 days but the music and art was really nice, you should think about expanding it after
Fits the theme very well, I lack experience with Unix bash but minGW filled in the gaps
Very addictive and very difficult
It's a bit off theme but it's a fun game nonetheless
@lekiy Sorry about that, the crypt thing slipped my mind when writing that, sorry
Very hard to get into, the game decided to stop letting me conquer territory, but the parts of the game that worked where pretty fun
Nice throwback to text adventures, nice game, also loved the story about C and directX
I managed to get to level 2 :) loved the game, simple but complex.
Would never have thought of this, poor Charlie.
Love the programmer art, the game in general is great
Fun game, the health of the enemies are a bit too high but mostly fun.
Haha, the story is great, also the game is truly perfect, well done
Art
Fun game, certainly enjoyed watching other's faces as I destroyed their cannons, I don't see how it ties in with the theme though.
Really addictive, reminded me of an arcade game. My only gripe is that X is a weird button for shoot, other than that extremely fun.
The game will be up, just wait a few mins
Quite a fun game, the idea of being nearly powerless until you recharge added some real strategy elements, the one thing that really got me though was the camera.
Nice, 8-bit game, font was a little hard to read but I got the gist and very quickly found myself choosing between whether to sacrifice the helicopter or the robot, good game but it got a bit repetitive.
Avast was certain it was a virus and kept deleting it, so I eventually just killed the task. Loved the storyline, and although my headphone's left ear is broken I still managed to, to be frank, shit myself. You really pulled of the atmosphere part anyway. I know you didn't ask for comments like "It’s cool. I like it." but honestly I can't fault it, everything added to the setting. If I really have to nitpick I'd say the "power" bit of text has a very bland font for the game, but that's all I could really find.
5 all round, hope you come back for the next LD.
Really brought me back to asteroids, at first I was wasting all my energy on the stars and before I knew I was at a score of $500,000.
I'm not all that good at strategy games but I found myself just protecting 2 buildings and maxing them out, at that point I could just leave everything else.
Loved that one background song, the sound effects were also top notch. It carried the good old platformer trait of making you want to throw your pc out the window everytime you die. Also, I'm afraid Frump may have fired that scientist, he only got his job the day before.
Gunna' be honest, very meh, I can get over the programmer art as I to suffer from that same problem. But if the game could've been a bit larger, possibly 16:9 or even 1000x500 it would've been a lot more fun. Also sometimes the, what appears to be, random level generator makes the levels impossible.
