LD35 — Shapeshift

Shape Struggle by csanyk 2016-04-19T22:02:00

I think the most entertaining part of the game was getting the power up that increased how many projectiles you shot at once. The graphics were simple but were still clean. The controls were responsive but I think the rotation speed could increase a little but. And maybe zoom the camera out a bit. But the game was pretty fun!

gay vampire from outer space by Bendix 2016-04-19T13:14:00

10/10 I really felt like the game spoke to me. It resonated with my soul. The story was well written and the graphics were absolutely stunning and captivating. The game was incredibly well put together and the controls were smooth and responsive. The online community is great and the servers are always running well. The only criticism I have is that the options doesn't really give the player a lot of freedom. I would love to be able to turn off some of the heavier effects so it could run a bit better on my computer. But I'm sure there will be a update for that. I can't wait for the DLC.

Go Shape Yourself by Elemental Zeal Games Studios 2016-04-18T17:12:00

Nice and innovative mechanic, simple and good controls. It was kind of hard to see the projectiles but that may have been part of the challenge. I would maybe make the different shape/colors shoot in a different way or different projectile just to add some variation but still a great game!

Nightshift by Aurel Bílý 2016-04-20T17:40:00

Super cute and high quality art. Extremely well polished feels more than complete. Good controls, a lot of cute little animations and I love that the cat gets stuck on yarn balls, so cute! The music was adorable and the sounds were great quality. I had a lot of fun, but I think it was a little difficult with the walls.

Species by JaviCepa 2016-04-19T12:53:00

Really beautiful, didn't run too well for me but man the graphics were great!

Shapeshipster by Inateno 2016-04-19T17:23:00

The game is really pretty and the audio is pretty well done. The game is fun but it got too laggy for me when things got hard, so I didn't get to experience and challenge. Also, the shape shifting didn't work, I could press space to shoot but I couldn't press x, y, or b to shape shift.

Shapeshifter by disease 2016-04-21T09:04:00

I'm sorry you ran out of time, although for me that's the funnest part. The fact that you still submitted what you have shows that you have the motivation despite being able to accomplish your initial goals. I respect that! I hope you have enough time to do everything you want in your next game!

"Web" didin't work for me D:

PowerShift: The People's Republic of United Democristan by nintendoeats 2016-04-18T16:05:00

The music was catchy, and it presented it's self well at the beginning. But then I was immediately overwhelmed when the game started. I had no clue what I was doing, I think a tutorial would have been nice (unless I missed it). But it looked promising; it seemed very complex and well thought out.

49 was my high score. The game was relaxing but very engaging at the same time. There's so many things I enjoyed about this game. One, the aesthetic was very pretty and simple. Minimalism well pulled off, I love how the shapes morphed smoothly into each other. The notes played when you got a key right was very satisfying and really drew me into the game. It was almost therapeutic. Great fun, great visuals, sounded great. And one thing that really got to me was how you informed the player what each key did. Minimal interface - nothing but arrows. They disappeared as I pressed them and taught me what shape each arrow makes. I loved that part haha. Really good game!

Bortman by Rscar 2016-04-18T15:22:00

Wow that was really good, you're clearly a very good and experienced artist! The art was really cute and pretty, the animation was clean, and the parallax was of high quality! The gameplay is just as good as the art! The arrows felt a little underpowered but their trajectory curved beautifully and satisfactorily stuck onto walls and opponents. The bird glided down gracefully and flew like the flappy bird we all know and love. the shape shifting worked exceptionally! I spent a good 10 = 15 minutes having a blast!

SLAHP by FistBumpGames 2016-04-22T20:45:00

The music is amazeballs and the art is incredible. Love the parallax, animations are nice. But I think the game pace was a little sluggish for having a perma-death. I really wanted to progress but restarting completely over was kinda... meh. The jumping was a little weird, I could only jump while moving. And the game was not very good at making sure the player knows the controls. So the game is really good but just needs polish!

Also, was the one thing in the beginning a reference to Gaster from Undertale?

CHORUS by Pantelis Petsopoulos 2016-04-19T22:44:00

Great music, pretty nice overall. Maybe the graphic could be polished a little. But I like it nonetheless.

Boyd, P.I. by TTFTCUTS 2016-04-19T21:55:00

Wow great art and animation! Story and voice acting!? That's some really good team work to be able to pull all that off and maintain quality and performance.

Grim crash by umb16 2016-04-19T07:24:00

Wow I really like the coffin launching mechanic thingy! It was really nice and satisfying. It's different and it's pretty fun, I wish there was more though.

Morph Space by LukeZaz 2016-04-20T21:46:00

I ship felt really good when I was controlling it. It was fun to let it glide and spin around. But I think the game just needed more of an objective and the shooting wasn't working for me. Some of the enemies just flew out of the screen instead of chasing me. But its good work, you gotta start somewhere!

Shapes Outdoor by leffe108 2016-04-19T21:43:00

That's a cool idea, unfortunately, I doubt anyone will actually do it though. I didn't because I'm too lazy and I live in a desert and I live 40 floors up. Props to anyone who did though!

Under and Above by Xinelu 2016-04-21T07:15:00

Pretty good visuals, could use a little polish, good music.

Shapeless Escape! by A333 2016-04-22T20:53:00

Great animation and art! The audio kinda got annoying but it wasn't a problem ^ . ^

The main issue was the lack of variety in what you could shape shift, but I'm sure time had something to do with that because the game looks really well made other wise. Some of the platforming could be fixed like getting stuck on walls and being able to stay on one. But the puzzling was good and you did a good job of pacing and keeping the puzzle innovative! Great game!

Attached by roban101 2016-04-18T17:19:00

Really good art, and I really like the "tiny planet" feel.

Casual Shapeshifting by M2tias 2016-04-19T07:47:00

I was confused for a minute but once I understood what was going on I had a pretty swell time. It was actually pretty challenging, I didn't beat it though because I spent a good 5 minutes trying. I think using the key board would better because sometimes I couldn't click the organ to stop it but maybe thats because I'm using the touch pad right now haha. But the game was really fun!

Project - O by Blister 2016-04-18T15:36:00

For one, I LOVE THE MUSIC. The art was wonderful, but I couldn't quite figure out how to progress. I got the door opening chest, and then that ball one. Then there was a hole before the next chest, I couldn't jump i don't know if that a bug for me or if you're supposed to get a chest to do that. I tried to go through the hole but I still couldn't figure it out. So I'm just gonna leave fun as N/A because I feel that didn't really get to play the game, but it looked promising.

Weaponshift by The Vall 2016-04-19T07:17:00

Pretty innovative but I think the jumping could be redone and the enemies could have more of an attack. Right now you just kind of run into them and lose health, but they don't attack or anything, but still, great game!

Polymorphic Menagerie by Soron 2016-04-18T12:31:00

It was interesting at first, but it kinda lost it's point after a while. But good job nonetheless. Maybe add something that can hurt you. Give the player an incentive to continue playing and grow, as that's what seemed to be the objective.

VHS WARS by goodbadokay 2016-04-19T22:49:00

That was really fun! The controls were well done and the effects were very polished. Good layering in the enemy spawning. The difficulty was a little high but it was a good challenge. The audio was good and the music was very energetic and fitting. It all went well together, great game!

Drift Shift by Bailman03 2016-04-19T07:55:00

For one I had to overlap my hands to play because my laptop didn't have a num-pad. But it was still playable. Pretty nice graphics, nice idea, very casual and nice. But i think there could be more content and more challenge.

Shapescape by AlexLamarche 2016-04-20T16:44:00

simple and pretty fun, but I think it could be a little more polished and maybe add a few more challenges.

Star Shift Journey by Asturk 2016-04-18T12:37:00

I like the idea you had going. But I think the execution could be better. The spawning should have more form to it. Like maybe waves so you can kind of know what to expect. Maybe the enemies could move in a more predictable manner that makes way for a challenge as gives more time for the player to interact with them. Right now they just kind of fly-by and there seem to be now punishment for it. Maybe add variation to the projectiles shot by different colors. But I like the look of the game, and the audio was good. It wasn't bad, pretty good game.

FLESH TO STONE by tjmolinski 2016-04-19T20:47:00

I played this game an thought it was a jam. The way the enemies came at you was really well put together. The difficulty didn't start out too slow or ramp up too quickly. The controls are snappy and responsive. The game ran well. The audio was good and the art was crisp, clean, and colorful. The key game mechanic (turning into stone) was implement well in relation to the challenges the game threw at me. And lastly, the game is very well polished, from the camera shake to all the little animations and the "noooo" slo motion you get when you lose after getting to 1000 points. One of best submissions so far for me!

Little Island Champs by Team>Nice 2016-04-21T07:10:00

Cute little game, objective needs to more clear and maybe needs some polishing but i think its aight.

Shifter by Blobby101 2016-05-02T13:32:00

The controls didn't feel precise/responsive enough for the how much precision was needed. Good use of pretty shaders and effects but it could still use some polish. And for mac users control combined with arrows made weird things happen. But of course I wouldn't count that because if you use a PC how would you know? (I'm tired of this mac btw). The idea was good and it was fun but if the controls and graphics were a bit more polished up that would make a huge difference. But still, great submission!

Phat Fishes by tentacode 2016-04-20T14:54:00

The art is so cute and its very well polished! amount keys in the instructions was confusing but I basically just use wasd and arrow keys just fine for two players. The controls are weird and confusing at first, but actually work suprisingly well.

The Tortoise and the Hare and the Snake by Charzendat 2016-04-21T05:37:00

Wow cute art and really well balanced. Pretty innovative and very fun. It was nice a casual but still challenging and engaging.

Geomorpher by teamross 2016-04-21T04:43:00

840! That was really fun, everything felt really nice, the shapes weren't boring, and the glow added a nice touch. Great audio, the games was really well polished and the difficulty ramped up smoothly. Great game!

Robotic Egg Garden by rossborchers 2016-04-19T17:07:00

That was really well polished! The game looked really good and the gameplay was fun and interesting and quite difficult but still enjoyable. It ran pretty well for how much was going on. But it did get laggy from time to time.

Dr. Deckenstein: An Adventure in Severed Parts by quill18 2016-04-18T13:05:00

Wow that was a lot of fun! Fun enough to make me procrastinate on important things like homework. The gameplay was smooth, and it was easy to grasp the game for how complex it was. The moment I started playing I knew what I was doing and I enjoyed it. Really great game!

Shape Surfer by haveric 2016-05-02T13:35:00

Pretty unique game! And it was pulled off pretty well! I like the amount of options you had for difficulty, the game was good about progressing with shape shifting, and it was pretty fun!

Project Catslevania by Marc F. 2016-04-19T12:37:00

The game ran really slow for me, I think you need to optimize some things. Maybe some of your models have too many polygons. Maybe there too many objects being rendered at once. There is something that needs to be done. If my computer is the problem then you need to make the game that can run on most computers. My computer is really slow or anything, so I would imagine not many people are running your game smoothly if any. I didn't really get to play the gam, but I would say that the character moves too slow. But I would love to see what you could make that runs :D.

Exhuman by Arvydas 2016-04-21T06:55:00

Great modeling and effects. The sounds were ok and the I like the concept. But I think it was kind of hard to make progress, but I think its because I suck and I only spent about 10 minutes. It seems like a game you should spend a lot of time on. But I think its pretty well polished and the music is pretty good too!

Blink by samlo 2016-04-20T11:24:00

Immediately the game gets me pumped up with the music and polished appearance. Once I start playing I am amazed by the particle effects. The art is great but the particles just make the game amazing, especially the when playing in the white form; the color and triangles. It's just so pretty. And the game plays really well and feels nice. It's fast paced, challenging, but still gives you breathing space. It's well balanced in difficulty, a good combo of tactics and skillful reaction. I really enjoyed the game!

Blink by samlo 2016-04-20T15:42:00

May I ask how you made the effect that occurs when taking damage?

Hard to know by kyuni 2016-04-20T11:32:00

Hmm, it was interesting. Very different from the others. I noticed that there was a dynamic property to the people living on the planet, but in the bigger picture of the scene, nothing really progressed. The earthquake and seaquake always exterminated the "beings" in my play throughs. But I think the writing was well done and had a interesting mood set. Probably one of the only submissions so far that does a good job at setting the mood so far for me. But for people who don't enjoy reading, I don't think there's much. But me personally, I enjoyed the writing.

Georena by sbeif 2016-04-18T15:45:00

At first it was kind of hard, but once you understand the objective, how to achieve it, and the controls pretty well, its a fun and fair challenge. I the tutorial in the beginning was very clear and well made. But maybe I would add that space = dodge/attack because you use it more to attack that dodge really. I didn't get very far but the enemies never really attacked, but the game was really fun! Great game!

Block Shift by Templar3lf 2016-04-16T18:03:00

Nice! That's really creative, and the game looks clean and pretty well polished!

Square Off - 1v1 Multiplayer by TeamScripta 2016-04-19T17:18:00

That's pretty awesome! An 1v1 multiplayer game in 72 hours!? The game was really fun too, a very innovative take on air hockey. Reaction, strategy, tactics, it ran well too! Great game! And it was well polished.

Squircle by Wan 2016-04-19T12:47:00

Ohh my gosh that was sooo cute! The intro actually made me laugh and this is the first game with a story so far. And its a good one (for a game made in 48 hours)! At first some of the platforming was kinda "eh", but once I got the hang of it and was introduced to the other mechanics, I was impressed. The story was really creative and SUPER cute. Your humor is really good you must be a pretty good writer or something. I had a fun, one of the best submissions so far IMO. And even though you used simple shapes, you polished everything up really well, the animated background, the boxes that floated when you were the square. The puzzles were nice and easy to progress the story but hard enough and had form that I had to think a lil' for a few of em' I would love to see what else you can do!

Quad Flingers by BestNickname 2016-04-21T07:02:00

Wow that's a really cool idea, like really, that idea is cool damn thats a cool idea like that idea is really cool. Pretty good visuals and its really fun. If the game was a bit more polished up, it would be amazing! But still very innovate and pretty well made!

Portalshift by Rakowu 2016-04-21T08:59:00

The game is good overall but I think some polishing could be done with the graphics and level design. Often I would find myself thoughtlessly finishing the level without interacting with all of the elements that make the level. I don't know if it was supposed to be one of those things were there are multiple ways to win, if it was it didn't feel that way. But the shape shifting element was pretty creative, and the portals were well done. The controls and platforming was good for the most part. tl;dr - good game, needs polish

ColorShift by Corinator 2016-04-19T20:38:00

it looks great and promising but unfortunately it lagged too much to be played for me. But the music was nice and the art was good as well.

Heavenly Hell by luckyy 2016-05-01T16:21:00

The art was very well done, and I think the idea was very creative. However, I feel that the switching between world's mechanic could have been done differently or improved. There should have been some information about both worlds at all times, or something that could have been more predictable so then when I switched worlds, I wouldn't just run of a cliff or something. The jumping felt slightly somewhat off or in-responsive, but the worlds were well made as was the art. Great polishing as well.

Do-od by omlette.du.fromage 2016-04-19T23:04:00

Wow really interesting game mechanic, I can't even begin to understand how one would make that possible. The art is really cute and so is the music and audio. The puzzles felt a little repetitive and it was easy to just force your character around with the walls until enemies appeared. But >30 levels?!? That's just some good hard work and good team collaboration!

Squarcle by bagface 2016-04-19T08:05:00

Love the mechanic, very innovative and the game was really fun. But it could be wayyy better if the shifting was more responsive and the physics and controls were cleaned and polished up a bit. Graphics could be polished up a bit too, but I had a lot of fun.

Chromeshift by diesel 2016-04-20T21:57:00

I got a high score of 41. It's pretty fun! But I think you should make it to where the main object sets a target rotation instead of just rotating it 90 degrees in a span of time when I hit left or right. if you make a variable for a target and then have the input change the target, then the square will always rotate to it in Update() and then if you need to rotate it 180 super quickly, you can hit right or left arrow two times really quickly and it will rotate accordingly. Also maybe zoom the camera out a bit and make the square rotate quicker, or use Mathf.Lerp. But still its a good game, it just needs some tweaks.

NeoTrap by omarhuseynov011 2016-04-21T06:35:00

Music is amazing, espescially TRNDSETTER. I love the visuals, clean but really pretty. I like the pace being changed by the music, sometimes it kinda got outta hand. The controls felt nice and responsive, but the jumping was pretty useless and often the gap through two spikes was almost impossible with all the camera movements. Really great game but I would maybe add more variation in the obstacles and give the spawning for layers and form.

RoboRob by RoboRob 2016-04-19T07:37:00

I like the idea but the execution was poor. It wasn't really challenging enough. There were hard parts but it was because it was testing my reaction. The 3D modeling was good though, but the UI could probably be redone. But I think if you just polish the game up it would be really good!

Ereptile Dysfunction by sexypudding69 2016-05-06T14:14:00

I think the game needed a little more content and maybe some polish because the character often go "stuck" on the ground and the jumping - specifically the landing felt very "sticky." I think the idea was funny and a lot of time must have been spent on the animation from human to reptile. So I think the art has some good effort put into it. And the title? It made me laugh. Pretty funny, it's good to see humor!

Omnixis by Auroratide 2016-04-19T13:04:00

Incredibly innovative! Super creative, I love it! It played well, difficult, but in a good way of course. I think maybe the graphics could use some work but it was still fitting. I had a lot of fun. I played with it for about 15 mins. I didn't care much about the score, even when I lost there was value in the art you end up with!
