I really enjoyed this game! The 8 BIT sounds and music fit the ascetic perfectly!

I really enjoyed this game! The 8 BIT sounds and music fit the ascetic perfectly!
I enjoyed the interpretation of the theme.
I like your take on the jam theme! The controls were a little bit finnicky but a unique take nonetheless, thanks for sharing!
Very neat interpretation of the theme. I love the aging mechanic, it's really unique. Music and visuals are spot on. Controls are a bit janky, especially the walljumping. Overall awesome work!
Nice entry: music and graphics look nice! I was able to find only 7 roses and was stuck.. all boxes seem to be not on the ground floor so not sure how to process . Well done again!

@mahjoub You have to let yourself fall
i really enjoyed the game, i liked the different stages having new challenges. although i hit a wall when i tried to get past the spikes. the art style is really nice and the theme is met perfectly regarding the age. although i didnt see a way to "delay" the invetiable in fact i seemed to only speed it up. this was a fun game to play though
Really great game - the only thing what was a bit confusing is one place where you need to be a baby to collect the rose but then you are on a dead end and need to restart.
But overall i really enjoyed the game and mechanics and i like that you need to think a bit logically how this could work hehe.
nice take with the ability to rewind the time and revisit places in different ages to perform actions. well done :). the music got a bit annoying after a while.
@plixel @rxbbie Thanks for the feedback on the controls, it was the first time I tried to make a 2D platform, so it's probably something I can improve the next time I make one.
@leviathon the theme served more as an inspiration for the idea of the game, where you have to delay your own death, but also use your age. Although the clocks are a mechanic to delay your death.
@smiley I'm glad you liked the game. Maybe I should've added a mute button
This was really nice ! I really liked the music, and the idea was really clever, dying of old age was really funny the first time x) You're an old person and POUF a grave, just like that
Cool graphics. Interesting approach to the theme. Great job!
I didn't think I was going to get very far until I discovered the age-reversing mechanic at just the right time. That was a nice touch! Also the art style and music are not only good in their own right but complementary to each other.
I found the wall-jumping a little bit difficult to use effectively. I thought that holding down the R key to reset was a good idea to prevent hitting it accidentally, although I think you could get away with having half the time and still avoid that.
Overall, very good work.
Really great game! I loved how you implementedt the theme! The controls felt really responsive, and it was overall a really amazing experience!
Visuals and audio were very great. Sadly i couldnt pass the spikes
Really nice game! The mechanics is quite original and well thought. I only managed to get 5 roses though.
I had a very hard time understending how the multiple jump works and I have not figured out.
Love how the music speed up when you press the key to grow old, and how there is a different music for each stage.
Great Entry!
@kromeboy the kid is able to wall jump, while the adult is able to double jump. I hope this helps.
Such a great game that reminds us the inevitability of the death. I especially loved the usage of the music, how its speed changes.
Great platformer with unique twist. Surprisingly well made puzzles as well. I would love to see any% speedrun of this, because if you press 100 per second space (made easy by JoyToKey) you can do pretty cool wall jumps :D
Very good game! My only complaint would be the respawn sound having a very shrill and unpleasant click to the end of it.
@emberushi I'm glad you liked the game. That weird click annoys me too and oddly enough it's only in the web build of the game. I tried some compression settings, but I was not able to get rid of it.
Great game! I like aesthetics so much. Good job!
Great idea for game mechanics! Art style is really nice. The restart button is super satisfying to hit XD
Right on theme, good job. Bittersweet reminder of life's inescapable advance, but with plenty of roses along the way :rose: The time advance option works well.
What a masterpiece! eyecandy graphics, engaging gameplay with mechanics that works like a clock :) I've managed to collect 10 :rose: glad you added checkpoint system its a must have in a game you try 'n restart One of my ld50 favorites so far, huge congrats!
A fun, creative and very well-made platformer

Very solid game. Love the respawn mechanic and how I learned to use it to traverse the level. I did not experience any "clicking", however, FYI- the web game did crash at the point in the photo. Win 11, firefox. Fabulous little platformer. Great use of the theme. Thanks for the game!
@joemid Hey, thanks for the nice comnent! I'm sorry you experienced a crash. Do you have any console logs maybe? I'll try to investigate it tomorrow, but sadly I'm still on Win10.
Well, this one put a smile on my face. The art and music was perfect, and you nailed the theme. I would play it again, just for the satisfying restart mechanic. Well done!
Solid entry. I really appreciate that you don't need to go back too far away each time you reset, that would have been very frustrating.
Really unique central mechanic! I had a lot of fun :)
Very good idea and nice entry!
I really like how you implemented the mechanic where you sometimes acutally want to restart the game to progress. Fits theme really well.
Btw found the small hidden among us dude, reminded me of /r/place and had a nice laugh! :D
Aside from the clicking sound I enjoyed this, nice take on the theme!
That was nice. I like the different abilities for each age, and the level design is good. I've found the wall jump a little bit difficult to master, but I managed to use it anyway. I stopped at 10 roses because Unity WebGL crashed... May I suggest to shorten a little the hold-R-to-restart delay? Or even, remove the delay when you're dead ;-)
Really nice entry! Had a blast playing it and finding out how to overcome obstacles, really nice designed level. The part where you jump down as a baby and have to dodge the traps - well played my friend
Really cool mechanic and take on the theme! I appreciated having a checkpoint system, it would have been frustrating to have to restart the game each death. Overall the level design was really good and balanced to include each age's mechanic, but there were a few places where the spikes were placed a bit unfairly off the screen which led to a few frustrating deaths. Overall I really enjoyed this!
I recorded myself playing, message me on the Jam’s discord @ Dark Peace and I’ll send it to you. It was nice, I finished it. You should cut the section when you fall and there's random spikes that you can't see, it's not platforming, it's not puzzle, it's not fun. I like that the roses were used for multiple things, it gives a kind of unity.
By far the most innovative game I have played this season of Ludum Dare! I think the concept is great, the graphics and music is very well done and the whole experience feels solid from begin to end. I genuinely do not have any points that could have been done diffrently.
Also, the respawn mechanic is very satisfying
@vrerabek Congrats for finding one, I think you are the first one to notice ^^ But there are multiple ones hidden.
@sodaro Yeah the sound clicking is kind of annoying and was not intentional.
@clement-sparrow I'm sorry it crashed. I probably should've halved the restart delay.
@waffleworksgames @bottled-up-dark-peace I can see that the traps were maybe frustrating, but I felt like it's fair, because the player has a checkpoint right in front of it and will probably only need 3-4 attempts to get through that part.
Thanks for all the feedback so far!
@jorbits that's not the point. The checkpoint placement is irrelevant. Blind trapped jumps have nothing to do with the game. It does not involve any age mech and if you think "it's ok because there's a checkpoint", it's because you know it's unfair.
Funny take on the theme. Kinda has some Benjamin Button vibes... I didn't like the platforming very much but I thought the graphics and sfx was cool and I liked the idea.
This reminds me of something I've played or seen before, but I forget what.
There were a lot of things I liked about this!
Standouts: - Levels were designed really well - Age/time mechanic was awesome - Graphics were nice and cohesive
A few things that I would maybe improve: - Lots have said already, but the "blind jumps" were pretty rough at times, even with the respawn mechanic. Just doesn't feel good! - Platforming in general feels like, off...I think it could use some tweaking with the physics/movement - Music wasn't really my favorite (could just be me)
This was a great entry overall, nice work :)
The gameplay was fun, the levels were well made and I like the time reversal idea. That opens it up to a lot more puzzles.
If there's one thing I'd criticize is that it's hard to tell exactly what each stage does without trying it out and going through a couple of resets. I think maybe indicating what ability each stage gives you could help with this.
Solid entry, good jbo!
Not too shabby! A good little LD entry with simple yet effective level design and "puzzles". I was impressed that aging while in a short corridor as a baby caused a death -- I guess in hindsight that isn't an uncommon case to check for, but in my mind many gamejam games would simply have the player clip into the ceiling and get stuck at that point...
My two wishlist items if I had to suggest something:
- The difference between the second stage and third stage jumping abilities is immediately obvious -- I think this is partially because the walljumping lacks some sort of separate "wall cling" animation/state. - In terms of platforming design, IMHO it's usually poor practice to feature a scrolling camera where you can't see most of the room that you're in. This leads to "leap of faith" situations where the player isn't sure whether there is ground or spikes below. In the future, you might want to consider either a more zoomed out view / smaller level grid, or using a more fixed "per-room" camera, though of course this depends heavily on the project.
Congrats on your game!
