LD38 — A Small World

For The Love Of Money by KunoNoOni 2017-05-04T01:46:56Z

Well, the game is really simple, just a normal platformer, really fun to play but with nothing really new to add on, it lacks personality. Of course, that doesn't mean it can't be enjoyed because, like I said before, it was a really good retro style platformer, but after all it's just that and nothing more. Also, I didn't really see the relation with LD theme. So to sum up, I think the game is a really solid effort but next time you should think of doing something a little more innovative, because that's what gives games that special quality to attract people to go and play it.

Flight Club by dj_pale 2017-05-04T22:56:21Z

After playing it what I can tell you is that it is definitely a really cool and original concept, the music was great, however about the gameplay it would have been better if you had like a really small visual tutorial at the beginning to help people understand better how the controls work in the game. Also, if you would have made much clearer when storms where approaching and also made the game a little easier at the beginning to let people adapt to the flow it would have made the game a little more exciting and attractive. Still, despise all that, what you ended up having was a very solid product and I do congratulate you with that. Keep more games coming!

Expand Your World by Ovidios 2017-05-05T01:02:23Z

What can I say? I loved this game so much! The concept itself which is so simple yet so innovative, loved the level design, the mechanics and puzzle-solvineg, the graphics look excellent and the sound fx was really good too, even though it was just one it fit so well with the whole game. My only complaints would be:

1) If this had any music it would have been perfect! But I do understand that since this was a compo entry you either didn't have much time to do that or simply didn't know too much of how to produce music.

2) If it had been a bit longer, maybe at least 5+ more puzzles it would have made it even more addictive and with a lot more of replay value.

But that said, I still think this has been so far the best game I've played for this LD. Congrats and keep coming with more games mate!

Neuroso by gamechoy 2017-05-04T23:22:06Z

After playing it all I can say is that I enjoyed playing it, it's got some really nice visuals, terrific music which fits just perfectly with the game, the concept is also really interesting and really elaborated, which is a surprise because of the short amount of time you have to finish the game. I found the gameplay also good, although it would have helped to put the end text button in another place cos it was kinda uncomfortable for me, but that maybe just me. Also, I had the same problem as @coleslaughter, after a couple of deaths, having to skip the dialogues got really frustrating so a skip dialog button or function would have also improved the gameplay a lot. But yeah, overall I thought the game was a really strong product, maybe improving some gameplay aspects would have made it a way better game that what it already is and I also wanna congratulate you guys for all the effort put into this, keep more games coming!!!

Pluto is a Planet by TolMera 2017-05-04T01:08:08Z

It's really funny that the background story of both of our games and the idea that gave birth to all that was really simillar, yet the games theirselves are really different. Now, about your game, the gameplay it's kinda tricky (even after you have read the instructions), so maybe if you would have made a little more clear the buttons and the options you could use for the game it could have been way better. Also, you should have allowed the option to control your planet to make the game more exciting and don't make it feel as slow as it ended up being. The fighting parts were really challenging and the most entertaining thing about the game. Overall, I wouldn't say I was that entertained playing but I definitely thought it was interesting, so next time you should maybe do something a little more simple but that works and flows way better, keep up the work!. (Also I had the same error the first comment mentions happening to me, so you should be careful next time about that too!)

What Remains. by Fiote 2017-05-04T00:22:47Z

That was a very elaborate game, all I have to say is congrats on your final result, good job! (Next time though try to find some music too!)

Nuclear Treehouse by batmanasb 2017-05-03T01:53:32Z

Well after playing a while through the game I can say that I noticed that it's the first game you've made (at least for the Ludum Dare, I think) and so what I have to tell you is that I found the gameplay completely fine and I loved the way the camera worked when you move but, the problem I had with the game is that it lacks a bit of personality and "soul", it feels like emotionless because it starts with no background story, description of the characters nor anything that gets you to immerse into the world of the game (plus the lack of music also doesn't help with this).

So my humble opinion is that I suggest you that next time you should try something a little bit easier to work on but that it has it's own thing that makes it super special. That said, I do congratulate you for participating and encourage you to keep getting better at game development, hope my opinion is of some help for you!

The World At Your Feet by Geared Games 2017-05-04T02:02:32Z

All I have to say is simply wow, you just made a game so incredibly simple, yet so fun to play, to the point that it gets really addictive. Gameplay is just fine, graphics are neat, the mechanics are flawless, maybe a lil back story and less repitive and interesting music would have made the game even better than what the actual game ended up being, but still I really congratulate for this effort and clever concept, and keep doing more!

Qwer CiTy by Le Slo 2017-05-04T00:40:51Z

Wow, this really was a fun game, even though I'm terribly bad at it because I'm too nervous, but it's really innovative and different yet so simple. I really liked the tools you could use and how everything worked in the game. Really, all I have to say is congrats to all of you and keep going!

The Little World by JayTord 2017-05-03T02:09:17Z

Really nice and simple game and concept, a job well done! The only things that lacks are music and a score system, like the comment above me says.

Antnator by sachos345 2017-05-02T22:59:07Z

I found the game great in terms of the gameplay, very simple to play and that's a plus, but I didn't really like that much the level design, it kind of got repetitive, nothing to do with it being hard (although it could at least have been a bit easier in the beggining in order to understand better the mechanics and get used to the dynamic of the game), still for a game made by a single person in just 48 hours though it does end up as a very solid product. Congrats on the game!

A Walk To The Finish Line by jk5000 2017-12-27T23:06:54Z

Really nice little puzzle and interesting concept. I really had a lot of fun playing it and the fact that it's a compo game makes it even better. Congrats on your effort, keep doing more!

More Money More Problems by cxsquared 2017-12-27T02:43:03Z

It was really fun playing this entry! The music really set the mood and SFX were also really funny. The only thing was that I didn't really understand what did those guardians did to you when they touched you since I never got to die really. Also some minor bugs like for example when I was trying to get through a room with a safe box lock and the guardians didn't even let me solve the combination before attacking me and even getting through the lock. Still I think it was a really fun entry and that I enjoyed quite a lot playing it, good job!

Pirate Cargo by nysten 2017-12-27T00:34:42Z

Nicely done compo entry. The CPUs have some bugs that make them sometimes crash with the island and sink but other than that the game handles well the controls and the concept is clear. The sound FX and graphics were really ok too. Good job!

Ingredients of Insanity by zirconcode 2017-12-27T02:30:40Z

This is a nicely done 2P game! Really fun having a lot of curses on yourself while still trying to control your tank and evading your enemy's shots. The art and the music are good too. The only thing I wish was handled better was motivating the players to go and take more "Ingredients" (or curses) not just doing for the sake of testing the game. Still I can only congratulate you for your job on your game, great job and keep them coming!

Jazzy Beats by Moski 2017-12-27T02:15:59Z

A really well done game, it deserves all the attention it's gettin! The art, design, music and FX mix in perfect harmony and style with the concept of the game. The only thing I felt was that some actions don't really do much against the one in which you play the instrument (R) but still was challenging while not being particularly too difficult. A job well done guys, congrats!

Defense 2160 BC by TheMonsterFromTheDeep 2017-12-27T01:40:34Z

At first it's kinda tricky to get the hang of the flow and how the game exactly works, but after you get through that the game becomes much fun. Still I'm pretty bad at it but I won't blame you for that haha (I just suck really bad at strategy games). The art was actually really nice for a compo entry and the music also went along pretty well with the thematic of the game. Overall a pretty good job, congrats!

CalligraTree by Roaring Cat Games 2017-12-27T00:12:02Z

This game has the sweetest concept I've ever played from a LD entry! It's really simple but it's still so refreshing and the replay value is so high. Congratulations for real guys, you made an outstanding job without having to make much effort (I might be wrong about that tho).

I Just Hate My Fans! by Avocadosan 2017-12-12T02:16:55Z

@gomango999 we'll be checking that out

I Just Hate My Fans! by Avocadosan 2017-12-12T02:32:44Z

@gomango999 try again please with the new download link which says "Windows Fix" and let us know if it works! With that fix we set the game to run in a window instead of the standard full screen mode.

I Just Hate My Fans! by Avocadosan 2017-12-27T13:22:04Z

@themonsterfromthedeep that's really odd, when you clear the fans you should be able to jump more. We know it's difficult making the first jump with the fans on, with just one you should still be able to make it (pushing to the limit). But yeah, since we wanted people to understand how the game worked we had to make that long jump at the beginning. The rest of the pits shouldn't give you any problem tho. Also, try going backwards when a fan jumps on you so you can evade him.

Adventure of temple by Querk 2017-12-28T02:08:32Z

Nice little Compo entry, was a bit difficult at first but kinda got the hang of it after a few tries, still tricky as hell. The graphics were really nice too. Congrats on your effort!

Broken Allies by shemoKam 2017-12-27T22:32:25Z

The game was really hard on my first three tries but once you get the hang of it it starts being much simpler and easier (BUILD MORE ALLIES!). The graphics were ok too. Very nice little compo entry. Congrats on your entry! And thanks for helping me out with mine too!

Sunken by Tay 2017-12-28T00:10:04Z

Really fun little game you've got here! The graphics and sound fit the mood well. The only concern I had was that I didn't really understand why did you have to press the directional key two times to move. That said the only thing I can tell you it's congrats on your game!

ħ/2 by colozz 2017-12-28T01:56:47Z

This was a very fun and challenging game! Greatly executed and it's also really cool to know that you programmed it on a home made engine. The graphics were also really good, I liked a lot the detail you gave when you enter in a house. The only thing that's misssing is the music, maybe next time. Congrats on your effort!

Survival Christmas Madness by Eugene Myach 2017-12-27T01:13:40Z

Very nice game indeed! It was a fun little experience à la Oregon Trail. Maybe at the end it got kinda repetitive, because most of the situations kept repeating, but at the end it still was intuitive and super funny in most situations and ocurrencies. The art was also really well done, plus the Christmas song went very well with the game. Overall all I can say is good job guys!

Virus Detected by NotSpaghettiGames 2017-12-12T02:13:15Z

Very nice and well done game!!! The concept was clever and greatly executed and the game got harder with the time but it still was a lot of fun! The art was ok but the music really set the mood in a great way for me. Overall nice job!

Do You Mind If My Buddy Joins the Band? by Brandon Anderson 2017-12-12T01:35:18Z

The concept itself was very good but I'm not really sure if the pattern to choose the next guitarist is an entirely well coded random, since most of the time I would get the same 2-3 guitarists to play. Graphics were good for the kind of entry plus the guitar riffs are neat. In general, a very nice entry for the Compo!

Inky Pinky Square by Psychedelia 2017-12-28T01:46:53Z

Really like the concept you got for the game and it's executed greatly and in harmony with the theme of LD. The only thing I wish you would have done is to make some kind of tool or power to make one of the clones disappear. The game was super fun and well done so congrats on you effort!!!

TO HOT TO DOG by Lonzago_Art 2017-12-12T01:04:23Z

Very nice simple concept, the execution was ok but it would've been nice if you added other extra feats, like having people getting angry at you when you didn't get the right order, or gaining more stress for that to make it a bit more difficult. The art was also very good and detailed even if it has a non-moving background and very basic animations. The BGM was ok too. Nice job in general!

Human Rises by Tinis Games 2017-12-12T01:52:22Z

The game was really complex, but it's still a really interesting concept that makes you think a lot on what to do next. However I have to note that sometimes when I wanted to trade with other markets the game would not let me do so for some reason. Hope next time you get to have to have some actual graphics and sound going. Still good job!

LD40 - SirPumpy by SirPumpy 2017-12-27T01:58:17Z

Wow, this is such a greatly done game. The original entry is a bit more difficult to handle but it's still really fun to play. The upgrades you made to the final version specially in the pace made the game 10x better and making it way more playable and entertaining. The music even though being really short and simple (still it's a killer track considering it's a Compo entry), and the art also added an special extra value to the the game. Overall an outstanding job!

Finally done :D by Tomas.2D 2017-12-27T22:57:12Z

So this was really nicely done for a first timer (and also considering it's a compo game!), the passion and dedication you had it's clearly evident. That said, you still need more practice with the programming, the jump was the main bug. I would suggest you to change to another coding program. Overall however I can only congratulate you for your effort!

Armed Descent by Acr515 2017-12-27T23:16:45Z

Wow, so nice and fun playing this game. I kinda suck at it tho but I think it's nicely done. The music was killer! The art was also fine too it works pretty well with the game. For a single person to make this for a Jam entry is really something, congratulations on your effort I truly enjoyed playing it!
