LD16 — Exploration (11)

Echolon by mklee

I really like the bullet bouncing sound effect for some reason.

Fuck Oregon let's go find El Dorado by crackerblocks

Awesome game. Getting stuck between two hills and having to back up can be annoying though.

Lost in Exploration by dertom

Very rough and unpolished, but the 3D graphics have an odd charm to them. The camera angle changes were cool, though the angle for the spikes was a bit awkward.

Deep Field by Gilvado

There are some neat concepts here, fun to play around with and try out different strategies even if there's not much depth to it at this point.

Ruins by angrywaffle

I like how quick and responsive the machete attack feels. Cutting through vines was a nice addition too, it doesn't add much to the gameplay but it's just cool cutting through them to reach hidden doors and stuff. Pretty fun game overall.

Jimmy's Adventure by Wiering

The graphics were nice, especially the lighting effect. I don't remember having trouble with any of the jumps.

Missing by 10Print

Loved the ending.

islomania by hazman

I liked the design of the islands a lot. Each one feels like it has its own implicit story.

Soulspark by SonnyBone

I really liked the graphics, especially the vaguely wiring-schematic-like patterns on the ground. It's too bad there wasn't much to do in this version but an expansion with a less linear structure could be good.

Bees n Flowers by recursor

I liked the title screen music and the smooth controls of the bee. Collecting pollen got boring pretty fast though.

the light at the end of the tunnel by ippa

I liked the design of the rooms, it felt very natural compared to the grid-based levels you see in games a lot.

LD15 — Caverns (26)

Cavern Tycoon LD48 by Kato

I couldn't place units, even after quitting and restarting. I liked the sounds enough to rate the non-gameplay related categories though.

Byte Vs. GNOME by Henry McLaughlin

It's really fast, I don't know if that's intentional or if something got messed up when porting to Windows but the speed combined with the fact that you can only shoot in the direction you're moving makes it difficult to fight things without getting hit. Could be a fun game with some more development.

Cave without Story by Noyb

Pretty fun. I wish the difficulty increased faster though, level 1 is pretty easy and going through it again each time you die gets boring. It could use a button for focused movement too as almost all of my deaths came from crashing into walls while trying to get the gems near them.

In the Shadows by jph

Really good atmosphere for a game with such simple graphics. Not much to the gameplay, but it's a nice prototype.

Caverns of Light by NiallM

The concept is good, but the awkward collisions and unforgiving life system made me quit pretty quickly. I think you could build an interesting game out of this without any enemies/hazards at all and just focus on reflector placement puzzles.

Into the Pit: The Endless Caverns by mklee

I love the game mechanics, but I wish there was a button for dashing because double tapping isn't as instantly responsive as I'd like it to be. Still, herding the bats into a big group and hitting them all for massive amounts of points is addictive.

F = ma by Draknek

The movement controls are really awkward. It's a lot less trouble to ignore them and just shoot everything around you. Once I realized that the game became really easy; I only played for a bit but I didn't notice the enemies appearing more often or acting more aggressively as time went on.

Knight of the Cave Dragon by Jonny D

The hit detection and player physics feel a bit off but overall it's fun. I died to the dragon though and didn't want to play through the whole thing again.

A Matter Of Life Or Death At The Caverns Of Deep And Dark by ragnor

I didn't have any issues with the game running too fast, but I don't understand how the gun reloading works (it seems usually after I shot I couldn't shoot again for a long and totally arbitrary length of time, but then sometimes it'd let me shoot two or three bullets in a row) and I couldn't find anything to do other than slowly wander around shooting things.

Jello Cavern by shanecelis

Not much gameplay, but drawing boxes everywhere is fun for a bit.

DiggR by drZool

As others said, managing the level and flow of the water to avoid drowning is a really interesting mechanic. Great stuff.

Cavernous Shooter! by Morre

Nice graphics, and simple (but fun) gameplay. The last level was tricky.

Lex Bendover: The Dig by nilsf

Pretty funny, I like the graphics and the cheesy Duke Nukem-esque one-liners from the character. The actual platforming is a bit slow and clunky but overall I enjoyed it.

Moons Of Subterrane by stuckie

Fun game. The mechanics are pretty interesting, I didn't even realize you could drop researchers off at other stations than the main one. I didn't mind the physics but maybe enemies shouldn't knock you around so much.

Mineral Miner by GBGames

This seems like an interesting basis for a game. The main difficulty here was just figuring out how the game works but theoretical later levels could have more involved puzzles once the player knows the rules.

Cavern Escape by psnake

Really clever game, luring the spiders is a great mechanic. I wish there were checkpoints or something though because I got sick of going back to the beginning and doing everything again when I died on longer levels (specifically, I gave up on A Long Walk). The collisions seem a bit off, sometimes I'd get hit by spiders that weren't touching me and other times they'd go straight through me.

LoneStranger's Caverns by LoneStranger

I really liked this, though it needs a restart button because I wasted all my whips the first time before realizing I needed them to progress. I was disappointed that there was only one level, maybe I should check out Kroz sometime.

7 hours mini game by Codexus

Nice engine, though the way double jumping works is a bit weird. Good work for 7 hours.

Cave Explorer by adam_smasher

I really like the way the sound effects are done, they seem almost musical.

Polluted Caverns by astrofra

The graphics are great, and it ran well on my computer. Too bad you couldn't get more gameplay stuff done.

Crystal Cave by BenHem

I really love the style of the graphics, it's a simple effect but it looks nice. I didn't have much trouble telling where the walls were but it was hard to tell how close I was to gems/enemies.

A CAVE FOR MY BIKINI BABES by bburbank

Fun game. I wish there were more levels because the last one was by far the most fun to play, and the first two were rather boring due to not having many traps to place.

Cave Flyer (blue) by localcoder

Agreeing that the ship is too fast and really hard to control. I found it strangely compelling for such a simple game though.

Heart of Gold by L

Fun game with a cool and unique setting. It's really difficult to fit through small spaces though.

Beacon by ChevyRay

The graphics and the atmosphere are great. The beacon's slow movement makes the early areas a bit dull but it gets a lot more interesting later on. I liked the ending too.

mine by zacaj

Crashes for me, using Windows Vista 64-bit. Debug number is 17. Music is nice though.
