LD30 — Connected Worlds

Portal 3D by Bendix 2014-08-25T15:26:00

Well this had a good premise at the beginning but I kind of got confused with the intention of the game.

I liked the way the guy was shooting and that he ducks and jumps -- standard platformer stuff that worked well. However, I wasn't sure why ducking didn't help me nor even jumping when I am being shot at. It is either you kill faster or get killed.

That said, I wasn't sure either what is the spraying pepper for? I couldn't for example jump on top of the spray on level 3 or 4.

All in all there is fun to be had in there but I kind of lost it with the weird things that happen sometimes.
Good work though, I am sure there is something in there that I don't get :)

Connected Sphere by mess110 2014-08-25T11:46:00

Hahaha, that is definitely one of the most hilarious games I have tried in this LD.

Definitely gives an air of Portal here with the narration -- it was excellent and the poems are really cool. I liked them very much.

The concept was really easy to grasp on and the clues were spot on. Except at the jumping point I believe you are meant to fail? Not sure but haven't figured out anything else.

Definitely would be cool to see this as a complete game outside of LD. :D

Well done!

Sideline by Vandash 2014-08-25T09:28:00

At first I wasn't sure about the game. I am really bad when rules get too complex all of a sudden and not ease me into the game.

Yet, this game did a pretty good job of explaining through the gameplay (and the instructions) I went in knowing exactly what I should do and how (albeit it was a bit vague that upgrading is done overtime over how long you press down).

While I don' have a score that would award me a gold medal (highest is about 86 I think), it made me feel good as it got better with time (as mentioned you'd need about 15 minutes to get used to the controls. I started with a score of 7 then went to 86 finally).

All in all, great game. I liked the music and definitely liked the sound effects.
Very well done.

Connected To Hell by mutuware 2014-08-25T13:55:00

That was really fun XD. I liked the titles of the levels and I liked how the bullets spray and create dust when hitting walls.

I didn't expect the dogs at all. They were really hard to beat.

The music was really cool and the rhythm increasing as you descend further was a cool feature. I liked the upgrades and I was glad that I could "skip levels" by just jumping into the holes for when I died.

All in all, very good game and well done (the gun looked cool too) XD

Protoplanetary Disk by ianh 2014-08-25T11:55:00

That is a very interesting idea and I liked the gameplay although it was really hard to keep the planets around the sun.

The music was really cool and it was fun trying to make these planets not escape.

Well done :D

devoid by Jake Coxon 2014-08-25T13:30:00

Well this is a really fun game. I loved the graphics, they are really cool if even taking a minimalist.

I liked how fluid it is to play the game and how it required strategy not just clicking around.
The sounds were OK, didn't resonate with me, but it is a matter of taste.

The gameplay was really innovative in the way of how the worlds connect and the theme was really easy to get out of it.

Very good game all in all.
Well done! :D

Asteroid fighters by xandy 2014-08-26T19:36:00

That is a VERY interesting game. I liked the concept very much. It was really fun playing it.

The only problem that I was lagging (or others were) and I couldn't really play for long. But the few minutes of play were worth it. Well done job and I like the minimalistic art :D.

disconnected_worlds by cardboard 2014-08-25T10:50:00

That was really some nice art in there. I liked the general feel of the game and the music too was really cool.

The controls were simple so nothing complicated and it was easy to figure most of the puzzles out.

I would have loved more of the game though :) know more about the characters and the octopus I am flying (but I understand the 48 hours restraint).

Well done!

Tropical Transit by Moist 2014-08-26T21:07:00

Was really an interesting take on the concept and I liked the action in the game. Although it gets crowded quite fast and starts to get quite hard to do anything.

I liked the over all feeling of the game though and the art wasn't bad at all. :) Good work!

Connected Worlds by YopSolo 2014-08-25T13:13:00

I really liked the game's feel and the music. It gave a good atmosphere to what you are trying to achieve.

The rope mechanics is just beautiful. I only encountered one bug with the rope just before the heart where it was entangled in a weird way.

It was hard to determine the direction I should be going to when rolling from one hook point to the other. Would have been nice to have some kind of hint so as not to restart long sections.

Overall, it was a really interesting game and a really good idea. Although I kind of missed the connection to theme.

Good work though :D

Drop of Light by Snuux 2014-08-25T08:18:00

Drop of light is about this ball of light that falls from the sky and you have to protect it using your mouse's trail. The trail extends as you move around and the ball follow normal physics rules.

There are obstacles such as fire stuff and missiles that try to "kill" that orb of light but you can protect it with hovering your trail around it (or go into the other world, I think).

I started out the game and I saw the text "In a far far galaxy..." I was smiling, I liked the jokes that the game made in the tutorial it definitely made the instructions stick.
My problem was that the instructions were a bit vague. For example right click sends me into another dimension/world does that mean that I become invincible there? Is there something happening there?

I kept on playing trying to get the ball to stick in the middle of the screen but failed miserably a lot of times :D. It is challenging, if you create a slope with your trail, the ball speeds up ahead and goes out of the screen (right side). If you make a flat plane, it lingers behind and dies. I decided to create random patterns and lasted about 1.5 as long as the previous two methods.

The instructions mentioned that I should

It was really fun playing it, but I wish the instructions were clearer. The sound effects for when a missile is fired is really loud (but you can always turn down the master volume of your device). The colors were OK and I liked the concept.

Very well done game overall.

ACID WORLD by Aske 2014-08-26T20:09:00

Well that is a weird take on the theme but interesting nonetheless. I liked how the game abilities worked like magic/skills in MMOs with cooldowns and what not.

I didn't like that you get thrown right on top of enemies so you practically dead unless you've played before to notice that.

All in all though great job (and you CAN and SHOULD tell people not take drugs, but you CAN'T force them in either way :P)

SPIRITS! by Hackingroelz 2014-08-25T11:05:00

The game idea looked really nice and since I love stealth game I liked it.

It is a bit too difficult where the mobs detect you sometimes when they are giving you their backs. They sometimes find you in dark areas too. Wasn't really sure what to do some of the time. But I had fun with some of the levels and the interactions.

All in all, I liked the game's idea and how I interact with things in the spirit world.
Good work :)

Ferryman by ashdnazg 2014-08-25T13:17:00

Since I tried it before the voting was on, I thought it was only fitting that I cast my vote. It is an incredibly fun game and I really liked the idea of ferrying people around.

I liked the random events they were really both funny and good to break the monotony of the game. Although I'd loved to have more dead uncles (well, in a good sense... err... you know what I mean).

I liked also the feedback from the world that you had up there (I am guessing they are true events) so they mixed well with what was happening with the game (when the battle ensued, more soldiers and the numbers increased).

All in all, it was a really lovely game and incredibly fun (I built a fleet that almost drowned the sea :P).

Last Call For Magrathea by nintendoeats 2014-08-27T00:06:00

Wow, that is a nice game. There were elements that confused me like how do I get the ship to target a specific planet?

Or perhaps how can I speed production of something (other prioritize it).

Wasn't sure of my controls and how much I can affect things around me.

However it was fun sending ships all over and packing them up. It is a bit of a hard game but it was interesting.

I loved the voice acting in the game and the music was spot on too.

All in all, well done and good work! I like it :)

Mind over Matter by kneeko 2014-08-25T11:15:00

Well that is definitely a unique idea and it messes with your head in a good way XD.

Maximum score was 18 (nothing impressive) but dear GOD some of those problems just don't work out with drawing makes it feel so hard (yet they are so simple in truth).

I liked the sounds and the music as well as the graphics, everything seemed really cool and easy to understand.

Well done! :)

World 255 by jimmymcmillan 2014-08-26T18:57:00

Nice game. I liked the whole premise of the game going through worlds and discovering them. Although I didn't like doing the shady stuff and was trying to see if there was a choice.

It was funny though at times. Though I didn't really get the ending with flashing text that disappeared quickly.

I think with polish this could turn into something really cool XD.

H.O.C.M.A. by Techblogogy 2014-08-25T14:34:00

Well this is definitely an odd concept. It isn't bad, but definitely unique and stands out. I am guessing the interpretation of the worlds connecting is the elements connecting together.

I liked the idea of transforming atoms into molecules and the latter to organisms but I wished that my links would create a different molecule or organism instead of the same one. I understand of course the limitations of the 48 hours so I am guessing that might be your intention.

That said, the wait wasn't something I liked at all. When I reached the organism and the 20 seconds wait I couldn't take more than collecting 4 energies then I had to let go.

Perhaps if the wait time was reduced it would work better or at least we'd have something to do within the wait time. Again, that might be something related to the competition's tight schedule.

It took me a while but I figured out how to easily pass the levels which added to the bad sense of waiting.

All in all, the concept was interesting and I liked how it worked out and how it played. The only down side is that you had to wait A LOT of time. The sounds are OK but I am guessing they are all randomly generated with some polish they can add a lot of atmosphere to the game. :)

Good work ^_^

Flipping World by TheBoat 2014-08-26T19:56:00

The art was definitely reminiscent of the old Atari games. I liked the cake joke reference :).

It needed some music and definitely could use more to it.:)

Good job though. :D

Heaven with Hell by Kyle Mac 2014-08-25T20:27:00

Probably not the best score but 2700. That was actually a nice fun game. I loved the art. It looked really cool and the music was almost right. I liked the tone but it felt it needed more work just to get right.

But it was good enough for the entry (understandable of course the limit of time).

Good work and good luck :)

Darkness by kevinAlbs 2014-08-26T13:00:00

Haha, now I loved that ending and I liked the look of the game. The game definitely fit the theme well in that regard.

While the graphics were simple I liked them a lot and I liked how you play the game in general. It was a hard game but I liked the idea.

Could use some sounds and music though but probably that is a byproduct of the time limitation.

Well done :D

Molyneux God by Capitals 2014-08-26T22:06:00

Well I tried the game out. It is definitely interesting and I liked the idea of having two worlds to do whatever I wanted in :D.

I liked the powers, shame they weren't all implemented though I'd love to see how the population actually acts on the map to give it more a live feeling rather than land/weather effects only (but I understand the time limitations).

It is fun but it is lacking the objectives you've mentioned. Perhaps if iterated on it would be more interesting :D.

Well done!

Odyssey by voidqk 2014-08-26T17:12:00

That is a really fun game.

I really liked the hook part and I liked the ways you introduced new mechanics to the hook mechanic. Really cool game.

The music was nice. If a bit monotonous after a while (but I guess that is a limitation of time). I liked the idea.

Good work! :D

Interstellar, Inc. by JavadocMD 2014-08-26T23:04:00

Well I liked the game really. This had potential as a time management game. While the sim part was really cool.
I liked the game mechanics although I thought it might have wanted a bit of danger/lose condition (not sure what was that condition).
It is also really easy to pick up (was confused at the beginning at what is CR and the other stuff but with time I learned what each one meant).

Good work and good game.

Four Worlds by MrJavaFrank 2014-08-26T17:32:00

Well that is definitely an interesting concept having 4 worlds and all of them working at the same time. It became harder as I progress and I honestly couldn't keep track of the worlds.

I thought I could multi-task but it seems I have a limit with that XD. Pretty cool game and nicely done.

The music was cool too.

Good job! :D

H.L.3t (Homeless Zet) by Monochrome Bears 2014-08-26T15:36:00

I am not the owner of the game but for whoever tried to play and doesn't know the controls. Use your mouse to build turrets (100$ sprite on the top right of screen) and place it at the bottom of the screen.

I have to say it took me some time to understand what am I supposed to do. The instructions in the How to play aren't clear.

Anyway the first time I tried the game. I clicked a lot on random areas around the screen and nothing happened -- no tutorial no controls, nothing. So I wasn't sure what to do until the game almost lagged my entire PC (it seems you throw sprites down from the top screen and you don't destroy them so they pile up and lag the game).

I closed the game and ran it again and then noticed the tiny two icons on the top right. Turns out they are used to build stuff. The turret is the 100$ one and the other thing which I don't know what it is is for 20$. I played twice and both time died while not sure why I am dead.
There is no health bar or anything that indicates my death.

It is definitely an awkward game.

Nonomnia by robodylan 2014-08-26T15:26:00

Altogether it seems strange. I just kept jumping around and I liked the odd high jump. Though it wasn't clear how to repeat it.

That said... looks like you have some solid ground to build on whenever you want to make a platformer.

Drempt by WetDesertRock 2014-08-26T20:51:00

Well this is definitely a very interesting take on the theme. I really liked the idea of the game.
I loved the music very much and the art was good.
The gameplay was nice but as I played for longer time I felt it was getting boring as it was the same exact thing. I think around dream 3 I felt almost invincible with my upgrades so I decided to kill myself to see how the game ends.

Generally it was a very good game and I liked. It felt that there might be some morale or some end story to it. Some kind of finale but turned to be just a score game. That may not be bad in of itself but felt kind of like disappointed as I was waiting for something like that (specially when the deep description gave me that feel).

Well done game :D

Connected Pylons by Pat AfterMoon 2014-08-25T12:47:00

That is a really cool concept and game. I liked the idea very much. You had me there playing for a long time trying to figure out things.

I am amazed that it had so many levels too. Its simplicity perhaps is contributing majorly to its fun :).

I like how the enemies have predictable paths so you always know where they are going and can plan properly (except the orange ones sometimes have random paths).

Well done and very good take on the theme.

Jessie and Jack by rnlf 2014-08-26T17:22:00

I tried the game out twice and I have to say it has an interesting gameplay. I liked the idea of sending keys and the gun from one world to the other.
However it was really annoying that I have to pick 1 item at the item and I have to drop 1 item at the time. While I liked the exchange of guns, I would have preferred each to have at least a basic gun so I don't have to keep switching.

That said, I liked how you implemented the screen shake effect it wasn't over board and the bullet stuff. But when I got my first upgrade with extra bullets if I kept holding Ctrl for long to shoot, it became laggier so I had to stop.

Another annoying thing were the roaches, they were extremely small and the fast movement made it hard to actually move in an accurate way.

All in all though I liked how you combined platformer and action mechanics with theme. It was a fun game despite the minor things.
Job well done :)

Inverted | Endless Runner by oranebeast 2014-08-24T06:50:00

Played the game and I can report the same bug as Alx101 and the random death thing you mentioned in the Readme.

I like the music although I think it is a tad loud.

Good work, if it weren't for the random death bug I wouldn't have stopped playing for some time :D

Black Box Bandit by BillToWin 2014-08-25T12:07:00

Very fun game and I liked the concept and the turn based movement. Was really nice. I liked also that the difference in types of "enemies".

Although some levels (think after 4 or 6) were really hard and I started dying a lot as the red boxes started literally to stalk me. That said, the reset to an easier level is a genius idea. I liked it.

Very well done.

Salvation by 43iscoding 2014-08-25T14:10:00

That is a really cool game there. I liked the strategy element and I liked how the bridges worked along with the element of danger.

That said, it was really cool to see those planets engulfed by that wave and they change texture to match.

The sounds were cool, the music could use a little more polish but all in all, it was quite a lovely game with cool mechanics XD.
Oh, and you totally should do that post mortem.

[ Awake ] by Jupitron 2014-08-26T23:34:00

Well I had to hunt the game down from TIGSource but definitely a good game. I was a bit confused as to the grand meaning at one point but I believe I might have gotten it in the end.

I must say the graphics were really cute and I liked the sound effects and animations. Very well done job to be honest.
The mood is quite excellent as well one of the best mood games here.

Battle of Khe Sanh by SuperChihuahua 2014-08-25T09:42:00

The first time I read the description I was like "Wow! This game is going to be really cool". The concept was fresh and seemed quite original.

As I started the game things changed. While the concept seemed really easy to grasp and the controls were easy to understand as well (although I wished you added the controls to this post too), I wasn't sure what am I supposed to do.

I didn't know what the rules are. Yes, I knew I should order stuff but I was under attack and I didn't know how to stop that or perhaps even do something that would lead to that. I saw soldiers running around some random direction but wasn't sure if I can influence that.

Also there is no enemy on site except for the explosions so I wasn't sure if I can affect that. I started ordering things but wasn't sure what I am ordering them for or how I was to lose so I could win.

Also the pickups or the planes come and go at random times not sure how to speed them up or even if that is possible.
Sometimes a message shows up "no delivery because of artillery shellings" but not sure how I can prevent that in the first place.

All in all, I feel the game had a good potential (still do I think) but perhaps if things are clearer and easier to identify with, one could easily have fun with it.

Good work though :D

Affix It by SaxonRah 2014-08-25T21:48:00

Well the game looked really cool and the cubes kind of reminded me of portal's cube a bit (with the obvious differences of course).

I liked the idea that you can continue alone or with a cube and the puzzles progress each level.

However I had a few bugs, where sometimes when I pick and item and look up suddenly I fly into the ceiling and I can't get down (even with dropping the item).

Also the mouse seems to leave the game window and starts clicking on my desktop.

Another thing was that picking up an item the item sometimes floats mid air behind me or next to me (with a huge distance between it an me).
Despite the game was fun and the puzzles weren't hard to figure out.

I liked the music and it felt fitting to the game's overall idea.

Seriously, good work and very well done! :D

Between Heaven & Hell by IgIzzy 2014-08-25T08:43:00

I liked the concept a lot. I had fun playing the game. My highscore was 18 I think (which shows how much I suck at the game more than anything).
Throughout the multiple tries, the game was really fluid and nothing came out wrong or bugged. It worked flawlessly.

That said, it was hard having corruption increase automatically even though you didn't touch the orbs (although it has been explained), it just felt it add more difficulty. Though I liked the mechanic where the corruption decreases when you are in "heaven" and increases over time when you are in "hell" it was a good mechanic (albeit made the game more difficult).

The click to switch, I am guessing was designed perhaps for mobile in mind later on? Not sure. But I'd preferred to have more control on the square than just click and hope my trajectory would make me miss the orbs and get the souls.

Another thing that surprised me that every soul/corruption is in hell. I don't mind having no corruption in heaven (it is supposed to be like that) but I am sure there are some good souls in the world to warrant their existence in heaven. It felt that there is no point in going to heaven except to dodge what you find in hell.

There was no audio aside from sound effects, but I liked the sound effect that was playing. Wished there were more, but I am guessing timing limits.

All in all, I liked the concept and I definitely liked the gameplay, I wished I had more agency on my movement but still it worked out OK in the end.

Good work :)

Escape the Dream by bazld 2014-08-25T10:04:00

First time I looked at the graphics I thought they were amazing for the theme. They fit right in and were perfect to that kind of atmosphere.

The whole game gave a good vibe for its theme and idea and I liked how it played. The narrative was interesting and the hints were really well done (albeit the [SPOILERS----------] glowing took a bit to figure out).

I liked the sounds but I wished for music. I understand from your postmortem what you chose that. Still music could have added quite a bit with the right tone as you mentioned.

Great work and I really liked the concept very well. :)

Alterned Realities by Norfinel 2014-08-26T18:50:00

Fun little game but I found it hard to be able to switch to dimensions at the same time when there are 3 colors coming at me at the same time. Had to die multiple times due to that.

But the concept was nice. At one point though the game lagged to 15 FPS when I alternated QWE fast (to try and get the shapes). So I had to stop it and run it again.

All in all, good game and well done! :D

Oathkeeper by MrCakehat 2014-08-24T17:43:00

That is a really nice game. I liked how the game plays and the idea itself.

The mobs seem not to die but the idea was really cool and had me going there for a long time. I had to stop to work on my game :P otherwise I may not have stopped :)

Protect Both Worlds by Perjoka 2014-08-24T19:56:00

Great fun. It got me going for quite sometime. It needed some time to get used to the two screens and the dividing of your attention among the two areas but I figured a strategy out and it seems working.

Well done :D
(10,300 score :P)

Protect Both Worlds by Perjoka 2014-08-25T10:16:00

This comment to rate since I played before pre-voting.

Pocket Planets by ChezPain 2014-08-26T23:22:00

LMAO!!! [SPOILER - Gunpoint and this game]

It reminded me of Gunpoint when I punched the first guy multiple times XD this game is hilariously funny from the names of the planets to the ending!

I liked the idea of battling planets and for the first time I didn't HATE the turn based combat of the old JRPGs. That was very nice there, even though I didn't understand the RNG parts.

Rosewood Crag by Mophs 2014-08-26T22:42:00

Well definitely this takes an A in mood and definitely looks quite interesting. Although I wasn't sure how it fit the theme.

I liked the gameplay and I liked the red hue (although it was a bit straining to the eye). I also found the enemies to be creepy and fitting the mood.

There was a bug though where the jelly like enemies would stick to my position (the first I tried it I climbed above right away and then descended to find that all the jelly gathered below me). They'd follow me where ever I go so if I press left, they move below me left. I couldn't get rid of me since we move at the same speed.

Happened at the end with one of the taller guys which killed me (since it seems he damages me on touch).

Interesting game all in all and even though it needed some direction :). Good work!

Intergalactic: Multidimensional Planetary World Defenders by polyboxgames 2014-08-25T19:48:00

Woha! That was incredibly fun and cool to look at :D.

OK, the game is very fun I had fun playing. The shoot was really good and the movement felt nice (although I didn't like the inertia too much it made it hard to pickup boosts).

That said the graphics were awesome particularly the explosions. I lost a whole round just standing there admiring the colors (yes, yes, childish but whatever XD).

I liked also the difficulty. It is hard but it is kind of fair. The only thing I won't call fair is how it is also extremely hard to pinpoint your location on the screen with so much explosions. I died MANY times because I couldn't find my ship on the screen in the heat of battle.

The music was OK, I felt it needed a bit more upbeat tone but the one there fit the bill. The sound effects were cool too (although a bit loud).

All in all, it is a very interesting take on the concept and I liked the gameplay, was really fun. :)

Good luck and good work!

Color Bleed by ranseur 2014-08-25T11:24:00

Well this is definitely a great idea and I loved the interpretation very much. Not sure if I got the interpretation correctly or not.
The way I understand it, you are in war with some kind of other nation and you start killing them until you realize you were just killing civilians all along and made a genocide? That was really an interesting thought to come across.

I guess the only win situation is to stop and not kill others.

I loved the music it fit the idea (if I understood it correctly above) very well and I liked the gameplay too. Really simple and effective.

Good work all in all :)

Connected We Run by Sandcrawler 2014-08-25T13:05:00

Glad to see another C2 user! The game really looks nice it got me there paying attention to get through the levels and time my jumps.

I noticed a few things though. One of them that even though your path is sometimes blocked by a platform you can just walk through it. Sometimes the platforms move and not stationary and the level scrolling is a bit slow (but for my mad skeels in dying I was glad it was slow).

Overall it was interesting and fun. Well done!

MS. PORTAL MAN by nickculbertson 2014-08-25T21:21:00

That game was fun and I really loved the art. Great job with the portals too.
I liked the concept.

I didn't feel the music matched the "whimsical" feel of the game but it was an OK loop nonetheless. :)

Space Adventures and Stuff by simileinchen 2014-08-25T14:02:00

That was really a cool game. I found the art really lovely, I particularly loved its feel and the animation.

That said, the puzzles were nice.
The conversation in my browser trailed off screen (bottom ones) so I couldn't read all of it but at least I understood the jest of it.

It was a fun game indeed. Good game and well done ^_^

The Maze Of Worlds by rd127p77 2014-08-26T22:28:00

Well I tried the game. It is an interesting game. I liked how different characters used different gravity (or at least jump height) it was really cool in that regard.

However the collision detection in the game was really awkward I died multiple times because of weird things with collision. Specially when there are many areas in the game that are really so small that it barely fits the character.

All in all it looked like a very interesting cool game and it did actually feel fun. Congratulations on both first game with Game Maker and first LD release :D

Alter Axis by TheBigG 2014-08-26T19:23:00

This is a really nice and interesting game. It was fun playing through it. It gets harder as you progress and the difficulty curve scales nicely.

I liked the music as well although the sound effect of the turrets was higher than expected.

All in all a very interesting and good game :) well done!

Stranded in Space by Hoothoot 2014-08-25T10:26:00

Definitely an interesting concept and different from a lot of the games I have played so far.

I liked the idea of moving the planet to move the ship although as mentioned before by others, requires a lot of patience.

That said, it was really challenging until I noticed I can destroy yellow and red planets with the blue planet if I don't have the ship on it (not sure that is intentional or a glitch). At that point the game became really easy.

Over all the game is fun and I wished there was a background music to go with it.
Well done :)

Connect the Bridges by GameDevExtreme 2014-08-25T09:09:00

It is really an interesting concept creating bridges between the world. It sounded really fun.

I started the game and it was quite easy to pickup. It wasn't hard at all.

The things that were confusing is the lose scenario. I had to run out of money, I don't know if you ever can in the game. I played for 6 days and 40 hours (6 minutes?) not a single time I came close to losing. Since I can't build a bridge that I can't afford, I never reach zero and it seems if you upgrade a bridge once, it would be safe from destruction.

There was also no clear indication how bridge would cost so it was all guess work and random clicks. Not sure also how money can be generated faster but I guessed it is by connecting as much "Earths" as possible.

What I dreaded the most was the sound that played when I had no money to build/upgrade a bridge, that piece of sound was extremely annoying.
But I guess with the random generation things, one can only get what they can find.

All in all, the game was fun in the beginning and I liked the idea of the game. The game's charm wore off a little after a while, where I just let it active and did something else and returned to build a bridge here or upgrade another there.
I can see the game working out perfectly on phones where you can play in your breaks or something and with some more features to it (which I believe it is the fault of time constraints).

Good work ^_^

Death Facility by Yanthir 2014-08-25T19:19:00

The game looks fun. I have played through a few times but always gets swarmed and die.

I loved the graphics of the game. The tiles looked really cool as well as the long body ghosts. The background was really nice.

My problem was that the powerups were REALLY tiny and I can barely make out what is that there. Even when you had the list in the description checking the icons on a tiny circle isn't really good for your health when you are chased by 10-15 ghosts.

The only thing I found a bit annoying is the walking speed I was really slow and I had loads of lamps/green stuff to light and I am being chased by ghosts that some of which shoot a constant stream of bullets. So it wasn't quite a nice feeling there.

All in all though it was fun and I liked it.

Good work and well done :D

Space Mail by jab 2014-08-25T15:04:00

At first I wasn't sure about the concept or how this plays. But once I played it, it was fun figuring out a strategy and not messing up.

It was hard to get things right and took me a few times until I was able to figure out the ins and outs of the belts. I earned a few credits but I wasn't sure how I can get more belts.

At first I didn't see the sign saying "Buy More belts" I was more fixated on the other parts of the screen (and the grey button on top of grey wall wasn't quite visible).

Once I found the button the game turned to be much easier than I expected.

Cool concept and take on the theme. Nicely done :D

ET Invasion, Random Game by Anshzinc 2014-08-25T15:57:00

Well first congratulations that you released the first Ludum Dare game. It definitely is quite good for a first game. I liked the idea.

I liked also the movement although it wasn't the standard movement in shooters, it had potential to be something different and fun.

All in all the game is interesting definitely and looks good too :)

Woha, feedback now that is something I didn't expect :O

First thank you very much!

Now, let's see...

@Mutuware -- part ways thanks to another LD contestant that helped me out with a hint. :D Thank you very much.

@simileinchen -- Thank you very much. Sorry about the art, I am a bad artist.

@42IsCoding -- Haha, yes, Mr. Nomo is definitely a deer. Sorry for my mad art skeels. Thank you very much. :)

@Bazld -- Thank you very much. Yes, the game ends when you sleep there were big plans but as you read, I couldn't meet them all. Sorry for being cryptic with the ending.

@Techblogogy -- I'll take that as a compliment? Thank you very much. Hope you enjoyed it :)

@Zoomyzoom -- Thank you very much. Yes, it was something different completely but I had to work on it to reduce it to what it is now. I am sorry for the art but definitely worth thinking about polishing it.

@jab -- I am sorry about the text, I honestly ran out of "quick to achieve" ideas so I just went by changing font colors. I hope it didn't force you to strain your eyes and squint. I am truly sorry.

@Bendix -- I hope that is a good oh boy? :O

Alma by Vallar 2014-08-25T19:39:00

Thank you very much for the boost of confidence! Glad it didn't irritate you :D

Alma by Vallar 2014-08-25T21:17:00

@SaxonRah Sorry about the text really. I didn't know what to do to make it better with little time available. Thank you for sticking around and playing nonetheless.

As for the ending, yes. It wasn't supposed to end like that, but that is kind of like mid game in the grand scheme of my design (which I had to scrap a lot of). :)

Alma by Vallar 2014-08-26T12:53:00

@KevinAlbs I am glad you liked the game. Thank you very much, sir!

@BillToWin, thank you very much for the link. Definitely will check it out. I definitely want to try and get better at this -- it is fun.
As for you being stuck with the rat/cheese. After you get the cheese get as close as possible to the rat and talk to him :). If you are stuck there, let me know and I can explain more.

Alma by Vallar 2014-08-26T21:55:00

@WetDesertRock -- I am sorry at both problems. I have fixed both and they should now wait till you click again for the text to change. The rat and cheese should be solveable now as well (not sure why you got stuck when others didn't but I made another version for anyone that might have gotten stuck). Again, I am sorry for the frustrations caused.

@Fanttum -- Sorry about any frustration caused. Is there a part in particular that you found hard?

Alma by Vallar 2014-08-26T23:43:00

@rd127p77 -- Well I am glad you enjoyed the game and had a laugh from it. :)

Alma by Vallar 2014-08-28T08:32:00

@Rahazan -- Thank you very much for playing. I am sorry for the buggy state of the game. I didn't have time to fix everything and now that I go back to the "code" I finally discovered that this is about the worst engine to use for something like this.
To fix the bugs I'll have to redo the entire "back end" which is out of the competition's rules.
Though it is strange with the music. In that case, I guess the game wasn't fully loaded by the time you tried to play multiple times. Since I have experienced that a few times when trying to play from the website rather than test the game. The only solution is to wait (since the music file is 7 megs).

@nintendoets -- I am terribly sorry about that. It is a bug done completely as I overlooked the fact to "pause" the game in conversations. Again, I apologize for the weirdness.
The skeleton was actually imported correctly, that is my bad drawing skills though.

Thank you for trying the game out and I am sorry for any inconvenience.

Cranesym by Gametery 2014-08-26T16:59:00

Nice game. It was quite nice to walk around and trying to eat and survive. I haven't felt any particular danger throughout my playthrough and felt that the player character is moving slowly but it was a nice game.

I liked the graphics and the premise of the game. Though I don't know why two sea creatures would be separated between worlds? :)

All in all though a nice game and perhaps if there was no time limit this would have been a better game :D

Robot Attack! by DarkCart 2014-08-26T22:32:00

Well I tried the game. I am not quite sure of the interpretation of the theme in all honesty. But it looked quite interesting so I tried it.

At first I didn't understand why I don't move fluidly then I read your comment. After that I started spamming movement and suddenly I jumped to the bottom of the screen right from its top. So I stopped spamming directions and started pressing 1 per second.

I noticed then a bug, if you stand where you are and just spam space it kills the robots automatically you don't to move even.

PhotoWorlds by bobrocks 2014-08-25T20:04:00

Same as others, the concept looks like an interesting and cool take on the theme. That said... it crashed once I hit "R".
Sorry :(

Mispool by veryfinestlions 2014-08-26T19:45:00

Well that was an interesting concept and definitely a fun game. I found that it was weird that after the others descend they come back up and I have to redo all my hard work again.

The sounds were OK but I felt it needed music. All in all, it was a really fun game and a job well done :)

WCOM by ShadowTzu 2014-08-25T20:56:00

Interesting game. I liked the part where you collect artifacts to advance. Although they weren't easily found but it was fun collecting them.

As mentioned it got a bit repetitive after the third mission. Also something else I found another thing where the text trails off to the right of the game window and I can't see what is written.

Overall it was a nice premise and I felt if you had time to polish it, could have gone to be something better.

Good work :)

6 Dimensions by Fanttum 2014-08-26T22:18:00

Played the game and it is quite fun. Interesting take on the theme too. Was much more playable and manageable than some of the games that had the same concept on LD.

I liked the levels and they progressed well and the difficulty curve was very good. Albeit I encountered a bug that stopped in the level where there were boxes going up and down on the left side while there are fire orbs around the entire level (on the right side there was a long platform with 3-4 orbs beneath it the follow it going up and down).

Every time I jump on the platform on the right side for some reason I slip through and fall from that moving up and down platform.

All in all it was really a cool game and I enjoyed it. Could have used some art, but definitely that might be the time limit. That said, congratulations on your first LD :D

ColouredWorlds by sai_aya 2014-08-25T12:31:00

I really liked the concept of the game and somehow it made me feel like I am playing with Alice in Wonderland with each world and effect of itself.

It was fun and I liked the puzzles. Although some of them didn't quite feel obvious but generally got to it but I didn't beat level 9 I think (forgot which).

All in all it was really a good game.

Good work :)

Multiverse Siege by chartinboy 2014-08-25T10:37:00

The game really looked intriguing and I liked the idea of shooting stuff from multiple periods.

I really liked the multiple ammo types with different cool downs. Although I felt using the explosion shot meant a sure win (or the buckshot for that matter).

It was a bit confusing seeing the alien ships shooting up that high and I lose health but I understand it is the 48 hours thing :D.

All in all, it was fun shooting stuff and having them break down like that and the multiple types of weapons kept the effect fresh. The way you added the story was hilarious enough to have some humor into it too XD

Well done :D

Rocks by Zoomyzoom 2014-08-25T14:54:00

Wow this game surprised me. I wasn't sure what to expect from the description and it quickly put a smile on my face while playing.

I like the simple concept and the way things work. The game is quite interesting and is really fun to play. You had me going there for quite sometime too.

I liked the writing it was humorous enough and the little "Ed" (I am guessing it is though) thing was a nice touch.

The overall sounds are OK, I'd love to see some music as it would give some extra atmosphere to the game.

I particularly loved the black and white worlds they looked cool XD.

One thing though, I'd love some explanation as to what each rock does, I had to guess a few of them but wasn't sure my guess was correct or not.

Well done game and great work! :D

Race to Colonisation by matthewj234 2014-08-25T08:32:00

The game was really interesting and I really liked the description. It was cool to travel between planets and buy them as well as get the goods.

The problems I managed to encounter are that first, the view is way zoomed in. I'd preferred this to be an extremely zoom out camera so I could see more landscape of that universe and at least know when I am going when I go in a direction.

The number of planets are small compared to the size of the area. Sometimes I had to keep going in empty space with nothing on the screen until I find a planet (which a zoom out camera would help in).

Eventually I had to move around a certain "area" that connected my planets. The area was big mind you, but I hated how I moved extremely fast then inertia would send me a few screens away from my final destination and have to track back.

After 10 minutes or so, I wasn't paying attention as everything pretty much was going on "auto-pilot" except me going around picking up money every few minutes to buy yet another planet.

Could have used sounds definitely and a background music might have added extra atmosphere.

All in all, very good job creating the game and the concept. I haven't encountered any bugs and the game is fun. Though the initial "rush of fun" starts to wear off when you are doing the same thing for long. I am guessing however, if this had more time, it could have evolved in a solid space trading Sim :)

Good work :)
