LD47 — Stuck in a loop

oddpum by dietzribi 2020-10-06T10:00:15Z

This is super impressive for a game jam game, it looks lovely and the character designs are really charming. The gameplay took me a little while to understand at first but once I saw the loop happen it was like a little lightbulb went off in my head. Really damn good!

QLOOP by PapyKent 2020-10-06T10:07:17Z

I love the aesthetic you went for but I think the game would benefit from being turn based since it'd allow for more time to think about your next move and wouldn't remove the heavy punishment for one tiny mistake aspect

Stuck in a Froot Loop by Boaz 2020-10-06T09:55:04Z

Really bizzare idea but it got a good laugh out of me

LD49 — Unstable

Unstable Concoction by Blueberry_Mauro 2021-10-05T22:03:37Z

This is really cool! I love the humour, the pixel art aesthetic is great, the frantic rush to shove everything in the couldren before the time runs out and while things are flying around the screen feels really fun and just the sort of quick and fun gameplay you really are looking for out of an LDJam project! If I had to suggest something it would of been to make maybe a little sign with the ingredients on in order to make the objective a little clearer as I missed the text in the corner at first and just wasn't sure what I needed to be doing. But that really is just a nitpick, I'm obsessed with the idea of a potion that is 5 rocks and some water!

Really fantastic job here!

The Yellow Wallpaper by WhenYouCantFindAFriend 2021-10-05T21:52:32Z

Really facinating project based on a really important piece of feminist literature. I really love how oppressive the visuals feel and the willingness to tackle a heavy subject especially in such a short amount of time. You can really feel the effort put in here for something you care about. Really well done

【night trade】 by jonah 2021-10-05T22:23:56Z

Visually beautiful and a melancholic mood, I do agree with other people saying having a simple tutorial to teach you would be great but honestly once I understood it I found the gameplay to be super satisfying once it all came into place.

Decommissioned by T90. 2021-10-05T21:40:07Z

Really cute and a super interesting take on the theme! I really liked your UI design especially, it really felt natural like I was actually playing with a machine rather than just a "game interface"

LD50 — Delay the inevitable

Aito Deliverance by Joror 2022-04-14T10:27:42Z

Damn this is my kind of game. The dreary atmosphere and the opressive music sets the tone for what kind of experience this will be, the way you made use of the screen worked so well and the amount of content is insanely impressive. Fantastic work! If I had to nitpick I'd say the UI and overall readability coul use some work, perhaps an outline when you're hovering over something interactable? It would be nice if the text was a little bigger too but these really are just nitpicks. Absolutely brilliant!

My happy weedy farm by Marin0104 2022-04-14T10:00:54Z

Really unique way of looking at the theme and even the "farming sim" genre in general as usually they feel a lot more relaxed while here I felt more frantic trying to stop the weeds. Can absolutely see myself playing something like this on the bus on my way to work. Lovely little experience

Xermatt Redux by kiririn51 2022-04-07T00:09:57Z

Insanely impressive to see something like this come from a game jam, full of an intense atmosphere that even Yuki's musing couldn't quite clear the anxiety I felt hoping that I wouldn't have to see what she was so frightened of. The artwork and the music helped sell that emotion. Really fantastic job!!

Stone Sabbath by Caladrius 2022-04-21T09:27:24Z

@potkirland thank you very much! I watched your stream and your reaction to the Knockers made me and the rest of the team crack up a lot :) They're "old man imps" from Cornish mythology and if you give them food they knock on the mines to warn you of cave ins!

A Dank Cave by ssh.randy 2022-04-14T10:43:47Z

The ascii art somehow helped sell this better than I think actual sprites would have, felt to me very similar to one of those games that I would need a wiki open on my other monitor to understand what was going on (like Dwarf Fortress?). I'm not sure if you just didn't have music or it wasn't playing for me but I left the audio rating blank just to be fair :)

Jacob Cassidy in: Case Crimson Midnight by parkuhrmd 2022-04-14T10:35:33Z

Lovely mood and tone going on here! Love little touches such as the revolving cylinder on the gun when you reload and the little tutorial was nicely done. I will admit I did actually laugh when I got the first magic spell as the thought of a hard boiled detective finding black magic and being like "yeah this is fine!" really tickled me. I think some variation in the enemy noises would of helped to sell it a little bit more but considering this was a 72 hour job what you do have is really impressive!

IBYH!? by Trabasura 2022-04-07T00:27:49Z

I looooove the mood of this! I feel as though I would of benefitted from just a tiny bit more inspiration from WarioWare with the fact that the game shows you in big text what you have to do giving you a few seconds to process before you then attempt I think maybe having some of the sprites a little bigger would also help with the readability of the microgames! Your characters were just overflowing with charm and once I actually did understand what was going on the microgames felt great! I also love the choosing a character to protray a "life". I think you have the prototype for something really awesome here! I'd love to see what you do with it!

Boxed In by FatiguedFox 2022-04-07T11:29:53Z

Ahh this is the sort of game I tell myself "just one more go" before spending an hour trying to beat my high score, really sweet and simple, very clear what I had to do, the graphics did their job perfectly; if it was anymore simple then i might not have understood what was going on and if it was any more complicated then I may have gotten distaracted from the aim. Wonderful!

Not sure if you're aware or not but once I finished the "Your score" screen didn't have anything on at all (I got 33 btw ;))

Dawn of the Karen by BougieBirdie 2022-04-14T10:15:51Z

Nice addictive gameplay loop and the annoucer had me smiling the entire time! Great job!

Rest In Pieces by Eson97 2022-04-07T00:18:06Z

Very interesting idea for a game! Your character art and music are great! I as a bit confused at first what to do so maybe something similar to a tutorial? I thought at first I was trapped into a very small room and it wasn't untill I thought I'd try running at the walls to see if I could find a door did I realise I could leave however that could be because I'm an idiot hee hee. Good job lads!

LD51 — Every 10 seconds

Dubious Arcade by ocwal 2022-10-20T18:47:32Z

Ahhh! We also did a microgame collection, great minds think alike!

I thought this entry had such a wonderful aesthetic, everything was really unusual (warioware-esque I suppose you could say?) and I wish, since I was playing single player, there was the option to allow me to see the screen a little bit bigger, I found myself leaning in really close to get a clearer look at the doll that needed to be pinned (seriously that looked great, like really impressive stuff especially for a jam). I really like that you totally grasped that like...two seconds of confusion and panic when the microgame first starts and you're like "oh god, what do I? What button presses what??"

Honestly very sad this hasn't gotten as much attention as I feel it deserves. Really charming and a solid idea and you clearly understood the weird vibes that make games like Warioware so memerable in the first place

minigames! by thyoi 2022-10-20T19:04:00Z

Jeez this is crazy, the effort you put into your work is staggering and everything was just so lovely, I had a huge smile on my face from start to finish and I liked how, even though for some games there was a clear "goal" it didn't really matter if we won or not since it felt like the goal was just...to have a nice chill time. Very very lovely and maybe my favourite from the Compo

LD54 — Limited Space

CrystalLine by graebor 2023-10-08T22:17:08Z

Very unique idea, feels like the kind of game you'd say "I'm only gonna play for one more hour" then end up spending the next five obsessive playing. If you wanted to take this further I think special items or uniquely shaped gameplay screesn would be really cool!

Bucket Buffet by Don Fouts 2023-10-08T18:56:19Z

Extremely polished ESPECIALLY for a game jam submission, I can tell that whoever was drawing the food was really enjoying themselves too since like look fantastic, a very unqiue and fun idea that you pulled off excellently

Introvertigo by Scott Steffes 2023-10-08T18:20:27Z

I really loved this, every little detail pushed how uncomfortable and oppressive atmosphere is when you're trapped in a conversation with a stranger. I loved the unusual skin tones and how the screen felt like it was closing in on you, the only think I could even think to improve on this would be slightly more intense music the closer they got to you but I genuinely really loved this! Thanks for posting :)

Burn Beetle by Pious 2023-10-08T22:03:47Z

Very cute premise and, while it is small in scope, I think that was sensible since the amount of polish is really impressive. The vfx, the audio and the art help the gamplay feel satisfying! and the ladybug controls perfectly. Lovely!

Picky Plants by chybby 2023-10-09T13:05:02Z

Nice and soothing game, scratches that smae itch as something like solitaire or organising a messy drawer. I think the pixel art is lovely and the music helps out with the already relaxing mood

宇宙列車 -SPACE EXPRESS- by Viwka 2023-10-08T22:30:32Z

I'm really into danmaku titles so seeing "inspired by touhou" really got me excited and I'm so glad I tried, your UI is absolutely crazy and I love it so much! The music is genuinely weird but fits in so well with the overal vibe of the game, if I was to offer feedback I would probably say that something like a sound effect or a visual indication you're actually hitting the target would go a long way to add into that satisfying gameplay loop, like for example in some of the touhou games the character sprites do that little minor flash? JUst a suggestion and I really loved it anyway

InvenStory by pro4 2023-10-08T21:48:45Z

I've seen a few inventory management games this time around but man the polish here is lovely, I know it's a minor detail but the sop background in particular is such a feast for the eyes, I think some sound effects when you place something down could help with the gameplay feeling responsive? But that may as well be my only complaint, I adored the writing, the difficulity, and especially the art

Before The Trip by Nilan 2023-10-08T18:29:45Z

Lovely little entry, something I could see myself playing on the way to work on my phone! The art is charming and works so well for what it is, my only little request would be maybe it could tell you what the item is specifically when you highlight over it? I was looking for certain kinds of makeup completely puzzled to which ones were right or not and having to try tossing them in to see if it would flag, I think it could be cute to not only have different types of holiday but maybe different lugagge types if you continued forward and made this a full title :) thanks for uploading

Caveat Exemplum Optimus by Jason Shapiro 2023-10-08T18:48:13Z

You have made a really intense and frightening atmosphere here, the constant need to eat and consume is a always overshadowing you and you have some really easy to read writing, nothing too wordy or obtuse that it's difficult to read in one sitting. I liked what I personally took away to be the overall message too, that those who feed off of human suffering and exploit those under them with greed will never truly be satisfied and they comparable to monsters.

I am also really happy to see someone else who created a whole narrative experience, I do genuinely love games like this and it's really sad that sometimes the feedback we get aren't really helpful for the kinds of games we create such as "too many words" or "where are the graphics" or, my absolute least favourite "TLDR" it just plain sucks, game jams at platforms for improvement and... those things are just not that. Please keep on doing this kind of thing, it makes ludum dare a much more interesting and diverse place!

River City Transit by vivid-hallucination 2023-10-08T22:07:20Z

When I saw the Joker on the bus I literally lost it, fun idea and the face mask on the player character exclusively just really sells it. We've all been there

Beach Time! by CYT 2023-10-08T22:24:28Z

Extremely charming graphics, I found the logic behind the weapons to be a little bizzare but that honestly just added to the charm
