Apr 21 14:00:48 The Lightwielder - Ludum Dare 46 ♥ 1 I love the look and atmosphere of the game. Getting the runes and having dozens of deer following me felt pretty good. I saw that something shot out when I pressed x but I wasn't sure if it was doing anything. I couldn't seem to defeat the creatures near the bottom, they would pretty much drain all the darkness. so I liked everything about the game just I couldn't figure out how to beat it. haha
Apr 21 17:05:14 3h 04m Woodpunk ♥ 3 Wow I was like I'll play this game during my lunch break. But the game is actually pretty big for a game jam game so I didn't get to finish the game, but I got the idea and wow the music, art, and sfx really shine together. There was one song by a castle that kind of reminded me of stranger things theme song and it was awesome. I almost got stuck at first until I realized there was a hole in a fence haha. Being able to craft the different ammo is pretty nice too. The one thing I'm not totally sure of with the theme is what were you trying to keep alive. I assume the main character, but I wasn't sure if there was something I missed in the interpretation of the theme
Apr 21 18:04:14 59m 00s The Sapling Sage ♥ 1 it would be helpful to give some descriptions of the controls on the page here and what the different towers do. Like I didn't realize what the first tower you have when you press 2 actually does? it had some kind of energy coming out of it. also the teleport option is very necearry b/c in the beginning I went exploring and couldn't remember how to get to the tree and my tree died lol. But once I got the teleport with f it was so much better. also this is just a personal preference, but I always find games where you can only see a little bit b/c of the darkness to be somewhat difficult. But I understand it's night time so that made sense thematically. overall pretty cool take on tower defense. I love hybrid tower defense games. I'm making one myself so this really caught my interest. funny enough my team made a game about a mage protecting a tree as well but it's an action platformer.
Apr 21 18:18:11 13m 57s Keeping SNES Alive! ♥ 2 lol haha I love the concept, keeping the SNES alive. the game is pretty fun even if I stink at it. I was actually surprised when I failed b/c I didn't line up the cartridge haha. I was like well that makes sense I probably broke the cartridge. One thing that was a little hard is trying to figure out which one is the lowest. might of been helpful to have something to indicate the lowest one, or possible when any gets below 40% they are red or something like that. but for 10 hours this is a pretty solid game.
Apr 21 18:43:07 24m 56s Tiny Fragments ♥ 1 I can see why this is one of the popular games. The concept is clear and concise as well as the execution. You definitely get that satisfying AHAH moments in some of the levels which is the best feeling for a puzzle style game. I can understand why you only did 10 levels, but wow I wanted to play more.
Apr 22 04:05:05 9h 21m Milk for A Dead Man (Web and Downloads Available) ♥ 1 this game was funny and I had to use my brain. the only struggle was the darkness made it somewhat difficult to see what I could interact with. The highlight helped out but sometimes I didn't realize a wall was there. I also have no idea how I finally passed the second to last level haha. But the game had a lot of charm and I am glad I actually got to the end. I wasn't going to give up haha.
Apr 22 07:06:31 3h 01m Careful Defense ♥ 2 wow this is a really cool idea for tower defense. It adds a totally different kind of strategy. sometimes you wanna sell towers to stop them from damaging so you can get money but not loose health. I love tower defense games. This was a solid game. for sure
Apr 22 07:14:53 8m 22s Slime Mama ♥ 2 I love the art style , the cuteness. I love the slime effects. the controls felt really fun just to move and jump. Also I love food so naturally I love this game haha. But I am not that great haha. I couldn't save slime mama and I was so sad.
Apr 22 16:01:22 8h 46m The Big Man of Purgatory ♥ 1 just wanted to let you know that I loved the voice of the monster you were feeding the minions haha. I kept laughing. Cool concept, however once they start moving around it starts getting difficult really quick, but having good progression/difficulty is hard in a game jam b/c you usually are just finishing up all the other stuff before you can nail that down. or maybe I just suck haha. But I had fun. I also wanted to note that your itch page doesn't have the link to view the submission. I think you had to tag it with Ludum dare 46 or something to get that to work.
Apr 22 18:49:24 2h 48m Prince of Al Harrah ♥ 2 that was fun. I think a lot more could be done with this concept. The last level took me a while to figure out but when I did it felt great. would be cool if there special blocks/items that allowed you to flame jump from one to the other, of course only a one time usage. then you could have things where you jump gaps or jump over previously scorched areas.
Apr 23 00:11:29 5h 22m Eggcelerate ♥ 1 so I wanna say , gamepad is the way to go. The game feels so much better with a gamepad, but maybe that's just me. I like racing games playing with a gamepad versus keyboard. I loved the sound effects they were funny and cute. and one really simple feature that made the game really cool was that your last checkpoint is represented by your broken egg so I could easily tell if I made it farther than last time. I thought this was such a great visual feedback for the player. Over all I never got to 2 laps but it's mostly b/c I'm not patient
Apr 23 00:40:31 29m 02s Birb Island ♥ 1 I really enjoyed the exploration part of this game and collecting things. I wasn't sure what the use of the stone-axe was for. I assume the campfire is just for light. I also love climbing up higher, it reminded me of climbing things in breath of the wild. I am sad you didn't get around to the sound effects, I would of loved hearing the birds and water. overall impressive for a compo game indeed.
Apr 23 00:54:52 14m 21s Beat Savior ♥ 1 oh wow I didn't realize you could use your own music when I first saw this gmae. I totally jammed to some A day to remember and that was awesome that I could use my own music. I tried the different difficulties and did easy then decided to try hard and I lost so badly haha. I would of loved to see blue blocks that you needed to right click or something. I'm curious if that was an idea that you all had but didn't get it implemented in time. Also the video/voice tutorial in the beginning was pretty cool. I don't think I've seen a tutorial like that yet in this ludum dare.
Apr 23 01:11:20 16m 28s Companion ♥ 1 had fun playing the game. I did have trouble sometimes when an enemy was right on me, I couldn't really hit them away. I loved the knockback when hitting enemies. but overall it was fun, it was short and sweet. the graphics were pretty crisp
Apr 23 01:27:40 16m 20s Coldman ♥ 1 I liked the concept but I couldn't figure out how to use the axe. I picked it up with spacebar tried to use it on wood but it didn't do anything. I was able to drink water successfully after pressing space several times. I can see the potential but since I couldn't figure it out , I didn't have as much fun.
Apr 23 01:51:08 23m 28s Olive and Kale ♥ 2 the game had a lot of charm and super cute. I am a horrible farmer though haha. I did successfully grow the apples which was really satisfying to see a big old apple tree. it was a little hard to keep up with everything. I felt like the timers were a bit too fast but maybe it's just me
Apr 23 02:19:51 28m 43s Squatch Watch: Keeping The Myth Alive ♥ 2 lol so this game made me laugh. I felt like I playing ape escape mixed with metal gear solid. However I couldn't figure out how to beat the second room and ended up walking outside the level haha. But overall it was fun and definitely had the PS1 aesthetic going on
Apr 24 23:02:30 44h 42m Junior Juggle ♥ 1 lol this game made me laugh. And I think by playing it on a laptop with a touchpad made it even funier b/c it was not easy to get very far, but I did enjoy juggling dangerous things to save junior. I'm sure it would be way easier with a real mouse. I can't even really think of much to really add. The only thing I can think of is if you were some how able to get a bomb that cleared all the items every increment of a time you survived so if you were barely hanging in there you knew after 20-30 seconds a bomb would clear it, but then different items would spawn and maybe even random different items
Apr 24 23:55:14 52m 44s Savior ♥ 2 the game was pretty fun. At first I didn't read the part about the meter haha. Also love the visuals. this game looks very pretty. I would love to play a game like this with a gamepad. I was on my laptop so I didn't have one if it did support gamepad. also the music was really fitting as well and I appreciated that you had checkpoints and didn't have to start all the way over if you failed.
Apr 25 00:01:18 6m 04s Cheat Or Die ♥ 2 lol the art reminded me of rick and morty especially the boy. Which is one of my favorite shows so I was already won over. The teacher is crazy shah, ties up the students for cheating. I felt that when the teacher was tying up a student I should be able to swap notes without getting caught, but it seemed like that idea didn't work. Either way really cute and funny game. I didn't beat it, but losing was fun b/c of the funny story telling.
Apr 25 00:09:22 8m 04s MELT ♥ 1 probably one of the best games I played. the only issue I had was for some reason when I first played I couldn't even make it to the fire you shoot so I kept dying over and over and I was like I do not get this game. I restarted the game and then bam I had enough flame to walk to it. I dunno how to reproduce the glitch. Anyways the sound effects and music and graphics and mechanics just all shined very much in this game. I feel like this has the potential to be a full game.
Apr 25 00:16:52 7m 30s Captain Molly ♥ 1 the little kittens were so cute. Loved the art style. I played the web version but maybe I'll try out the gamepad. I do enjoy gamepad controls but I'm on my laptop atm which is mac so that's why I did the web version. I dunno if you get other weapons or not, b/c I accidently did the touchpad gesture to hit the back button after I saved a few kitties. but I feel like a shotgun would be awesome in this game if one doesn't already exist
Apr 25 00:24:38 7m 46s Keep Morality Alive ♥ 0 I'm very bad at this game. Took me a while to figure out that pressing the letter made it continue to rise. I also wasn't sure if the color of the balloons mattered or the order? I think I just need to get them to safety
Apr 25 00:32:13 7m 35s Katastrophe ♥ 1 this was a fun little platformer. All though I didn't learn how to use the barriers right away but then when I did it was really cool to defeat an enemy with one. It was short and sweet, my main complaint is that I wanted to play some more levels b/c I just figured out how to use the barrier and thought it was a cool mechanic. Either way really great jam gam. Feels like it could totally be expanded upon
Apr 26 02:58:31 26h 26m No crime will happen here! ♥ 3 so I am horrible at clue haha, but wow you had all these rooms and guests moving around and searching. A lot of stuff to fit into a jam game. My only problem and maybe I missed something was that I wasn't sure which rooms were which. I had found a murder weapon in a room but couldn't figure out which room it was to accuse. The graphics 3D and 2D were really quite polished for a jam game. I loved the bio cards for all the suspects The music was a bit repetitive, I think that song could of worked with a little more variation. and I would of loved to have heard sound effects like walking around hearing guests chit chat. I think there was a noise when I got the murder weapon. but I imagine sound was the last thing put in the game which happens a lot with me too haha.
Apr 26 03:10:00 11m 29s Yoda Eternal ♥ 1 so playing game on a laptop with a touchpad is probably not the best idea lol. at first I didn't realize the concept of not losing your ammo and I was like why do I keep dying, but then I got a grasp of it and I was able to last 2 minutes and 18 seconds before dying. I actually felt like the enemies were going after me more than today, which I'm not sure if that was just b/c I was trying to shoot them so maybe I agro them. Either way this game is pretty silly and provided some fun. The main complaint I have is that it was to know I was actually losing HP without keeping a constant eye on my hp. It would of been nice to have some kind of visual feedback. If there was I didn't notice it.
Apr 26 03:42:56 32m 56s The Birb ♥ 2 I love the art style and the birb animations are pretty fun to watch. I did appreciate the little tutorial signs to teach you about the double jump. I do wish there were more sound effects in the game. but overall it was pretty fun. I liked how you get different items and such. It was very short but it had you doing platforming and solving puzzles which is pretty cool to see in a jam game. I had fun with this one.
Apr 27 01:45:51 22h 02m Root Quest ♥ 1 so I first tried this game on my macbook pro and it just was really bad preformance. I don't know why. But I tried on my desktop pc and it worked just fine. I was determined to play this game b/c the initial guiding your root to the dungeon mechanic felt and looked so cool. I also loved the animation of our main character. They reminded me of a mix of earthworm jim and clayfighters. The dungeon gameplay was limited but understandable b/c of a jam game. Might of been cool if there some obstacles to avoid on the way to the dungeon that moved or something. Overall this was one of the coolest games I played so far
Apr 27 15:11:53 13h 26m Blood and Snow ♥ 1 fun little game it really remindsd me of the hunting segments in the oregon trail. I'm not sure if much changed as each day passed but would of been cool to see it get more challenging as the days go by. maybe it does and I just didn't notice. Also the web version would of been nice if it had a fullscreen option, but I was still able to play, some text was hard to read at the smaller size but nothing made the game unplayable. I liked the concept that you slow down if you are carrying more things. would be cool if there was some kind of wild boars, wolves, or bears that would try and attack you so if you were moving slow you'd be at risk
Apr 27 19:46:13 4h 34m Leap Of Faith ♥ 1 this was really fun. I didn't beat it, but I appreciated all the different things the fish could go in. Like the fish tank and toilet and such. I also liked how the fish swam when in the water. I also liked how the camera zoomed out when you did a big jump , and that you could do bigger jumps when in the water The only bug I think that happened was the music stops for a period of time, but then it starts over. I guess it's not totally looping.
Apr 27 21:03:56 1h 17m Keep the Love Alive ♥ 0 I had some weird issues with the web version being small , but it didn't effect the gameplay really b/c the art was very clean and easy to read. I loved how you made the boxes stretch out when jumping, it gave them a lot of personality and then the sound effects helped with that too. Sometimes it's amazing how much that stuff can make a difference even though it's just a box. I didn't last that long b/c I had an ai partner haha, Kinda impressed you had that as option for solo players. Most co-op multiplayer jam games I see don't have that option.
Apr 27 21:15:32 11m 36s Remnants ♥ 1 Reading the comments I feel I'm not alone. I didn't exactly know what I was doing, but it didn't matter I was having fun and getting new cards. I was increasing my population and hull. I started figuring out what the cards meant the more I played. However when I got to the final level I just got ultimately destroyed where the levels before I thought I was doing well, but maybe I wasn't doing well and that's why I got killed so quickly in the end. either way it was a fun game and the last level music is totally jamming. I started bopping my head listening to it hahha.
Apr 28 14:20:16 17h 04m The man who watches the time pass ♥ 0 I think this is the first narrative style game I've played for Ludum Dare so far. I liked the story it was cute and sad at the same time. In the ending when he fell down I'm guessing he died, since he talked about dying there. my main feedback - The text could of been a little bit bigger so it would be easier to read. especially since the text is one of the main focuses of the game - knowing which parts of the room lead somewhere else was mostly by trial and error. It would of been nice to have some visual representation of a door or passage so you'd know you could go that way.
Apr 28 15:07:34 47m 18s Catastrophe: Wildfire Firefighters ♥ 3 ok so I don't think the way I beat scenario 1 is how you properly do it, basically my entire forrest burnt down but I protected the buildings. I would love to see a dev playthrough of the proper way to play. It felt hectic which is how I imagine a firefighting game would go. I really liked the concept. I had watched this forrest fire fighting movie called Only the Brave and after watching it, I was really fascinated with all that goes into taking out a fire. they litereally had like war planning to try and figure out how to tackle it, and I had no clue one way to fight the fire was burning areas so the fire wouldn't cross. It's a really good movie. Here is my way I won, but I feel this shoulnd't be th eolution, but maybe I'm wrong. I just couldn't seem to stop the fire from spreading Screen Shot 2020-04-28 at 10.50.24 AM.png
Apr 28 15:53:53 46m 19s Keep It Powered ♥ 1 hardest game I played so far. I was convinced level 13 and 14 were impossible aat first. Took me so many tries. But I was determined to go through to the end. Everything was solid but I felt some levels as I mentioned 13 and 14 were a little too tight, but I guess they are some of the last levels of the game so it makes sense they are harder. Funny enough I passed level 15 on my first try which was honestly a relief after 13 and 14 haha. thanks for the fun/challenging game
Apr 28 16:06:42 12m 49s It's About Slime ♥ 0 I got to the score of 1085 I dunno if I was playing correctly I was mostly just circling the tree and occasionaly setting off the bombs. I see what you mean about the web version being slower. There was so many enemies on the screen that the game could barely handle it. but I am on a mac so it was the only way I could play, but I kept in mind the game would slow down so I don't count that against you. Over it was pretty fun but I'm not sure about the proper strategy.
Apr 28 17:58:00 1h 51m Soulectron ♥ 1 prett fun little game. It kinda reminded me of flappy bird, but wayyyyy less frustrating haha. I like the cute art of the game. It looked really nice and the controls were fluid
Apr 28 18:16:16 18m 16s Keep Him Alive ♥ 1 pretty fun little game. I wish it had some sound effects but hey it's a gamejam game and sound is always the last thing to consider usually. But overall felt pretty smooth. I didn't beat it, but at least made it to the 2nd level. My main feedback are that I didn't realize how much health I had and the screenshake when defeating enemies seemed way too strong
Apr 28 18:47:56 31m 40s Gregg ♥ 1 was playing with a touchpad so that's probably my first mistake haha, but overall it was pretty fun. I really enjoyed the lighting of the bullets and how they bounced so you could do some cool trick shots to take out the enemy turrets. I believe I only found one powerup that gave me more plant life. I wasn't able to find the teleporter after a few tries, but I still had fun with the game. my main feedback was the jetpack or double jump seemed like it was very touchy, sometimes I would jump high enough sometimes not. I was probably just missing something. I realize the level is dark to show off the lighting and b/c of the environment. but it was a little bit difficult to naviagate at first. after awhile I got used to it
Apr 28 19:28:16 40m 20s Cold Front ♥ 1 either I'm very good or the game isn't that challenging haha, but the good thing was that I was having fun playing the game. I played like 5 games in a row and won them all. Funny enough in the beginning I didn't even realize how the numbers worked, then I realized they are for the positions up, down, left, and right. once I started to understand that, it was more fun b/c at least I knew what I was doing. I think the first game might of been pure luck. It would be cool if you convert every single card to ice that something special happens. If something did happen, it wasn't impactful enough b/c I didn't notice it.
Apr 29 18:04:05 22h 35m Save the FOX! ♥ 3 I really liked the art style. At first I kept dying but then I figured out a decent strategy. I also thought it was cool the owls could pick up the fox. I was curious if the owls are the only enemy type or if others spawn as you get further. I didn't make it far enough to see any other enemy types if they exist. but I'd love to know what they are if they do exist. A few things I noticed - the tutorial just seems to be a black screen (guessing it had to be cut) - when you feed I didn't realize it worked at first, maybe some better visual representation - some of the jumping didn't always work to get to higher platforms. maybe coyote time would help @
Apr 29 19:48:28 1h 44m Message ♥ 2 so this one was very short. I dunno why but it took forever to load the game, which is suprising since it was so short but once it loaded up I was able to get to playing. I felt like the camera was zoomed in way too close. you could barely see where you were going. I was compelled to keep playing till I beat the game which is always a good sign. I also didn't realize at first that the boss you just have to dodge their attacs and you can't really attack the boss. but you got a game with a start and finish so that's a major accomplishment.
Apr 30 15:21:29 19h 33m Cats In Flats ♥ 2 lol the intro about him loving his cats but loving his goldfish more made me chuckle. That voice over work was really nice and funny, totally felt like it fit the theme of the game. I tried using furniture as blockades and the cats flipped over the furniture which was pretty funny to see. I also appreciated how you use water to get the cats away from the goldfish and cat treats. I had a few issues, for some reason the first time I played I couldn't seem to access the shop, I dunno if I was not positioned correctly, but it worked afterwards. Also the movement felt a little slidy, but I think it might of been my macbook struggling to run the web version . But for the most part I could control things well. I had fun playing and enjoyed the charm and humor of the game
May 1 14:16:06 22h 54m What the Firetruck!? ♥ 2 wow I am so sad not many people have played this amazing game. Most games after I play I'm like ok I'm done, that was cool. But this game I actually played several times just b/c it was so fun. I love the cute art style and the bouncyness when you hit the buildings and such. Also thought the gameplay mechanics were really good. You were frantically running around trying to put out fires, but then you gotta save the people and then take them to the helicopter, but also have to manage your water. It sounds like a lot of things to keep track of, but it all just flows together for a very nice gameplay loop. I loved the little touches how when the people got ran over by a car a tombstone popped up. Also the beginning tutorial was simple and effective, I really liked how it was basically the intro screen. The music felt like it fit the game and the sound effects were cute too. About the only thing I can think of was that while you hear the initial crashes you can assume there is a fire but if you miss that you might not realize there is a fire. I dunno if burning sounds would of helped this or some visual indicator (maybe an animating flame icon in the hud, or directional arrows to the fires). The map is somewhat small so it's not a huge deal b/c you just drive around the city and if you hear a crash find the fire. The only real issue I had was not major, but I was trying to rescue some guys and they went into the bottom collision barrior so I couldn't get them, but eventually they left it and I was able to pick them up
May 8 21:20:18 175h 04m Save the Timetree ♥ 0 I really wanna know how to beat this game. I was able to use scrolls to unlock doors, use the later to get the shovel, but the boulder would always hit the tree before I could do anything, so I must of been missing something. Sadly I didn't have much fun, but I could see how there were lots of different ways the items work together and reminded me of old adventure games. If you ever end up putting a playthrough video I'd love to see how to properly play the game.
May 11 00:20:05 50h 59m Mycelium ♥ 1 wow I love the art in this game, it's full of charm and the color pallete is amazing. I also love the mixing of a top down shooter with tower defense. I was curious can you actually beat this game or is it more of a try to beat your highest score? I loved the different tower types and how you could use them together. I had a lot of fun with this one
May 11 00:29:36 9m 31s Disco Boy ♥ 0 man the main menu music is the jam. I was bopping my head and took me like a minute to start the game b/c I was just appreciating the tunes haha. First level I didn't realize you hold with right mouse. Once I understood that I was having a blast. It's a simple game but I wanted to keep going till the end. I also thought it was really cool that you can shoot the bullets. it doesn't destroy them, just pushes them out of the way
May 11 00:35:13 5m 37s Dungeon Feeds ♥ 0 I loved the art style, but I felt the level was a little bit too zoomed in. I would of scaled it back a little bit and gave the player some platforms to help dodge the baddies. Over all the idea is pretty fun even if I suck at the game haha. I had fun making burgers and feeding the blob. It looked really cute
May 11 00:44:28 9m 15s Rebooting Flowers ♥ 1 I kept thinking I was breaking the game and didn't realize the flower had a health bar that I had to keep watering lol. once I figured that out I was able to get to the next part but I died very shortly after. I did like the 3d models for the flowers they looked pretty. bummer you weren't able to get some sound effects and music but I understand.
May 11 01:03:29 19m 01s Keep Them Alive ♥ 1 wow, so strangely the game isn't really fun per say, but it compelled me to save all the lives. I didn't want to let a single life die. I am not sure if it's b/c of our current situation but you pulled me in and made me care about these people. Really good job on achieving that. The music was a bit repetitive but overall gave that sense of panick that things needed to be constantly checked. Overall I liked this way more than I thought I would, and I actually played till the end
May 12 19:37:01 42h 33m Night of the Killer Beetles ♥ 0 I wanted to play the game but sadly it seems the itch link was dead and I tried going to your username on itch but the game wasn't there
