The Artstyle got me back to my pokemon blue edition <3

sheetcode 2020-04-21 06:37

Oh, it didn't open on Windows 10 64bit ;/

I'm not great at pixel art but this sort of art style is something that always inspires me to keep learning about it. The art here looks great!

brian-teng 2020-04-21 06:45

I like how this game relates to our current world. There is this one pair of patients that I needed to let one die in order to let the other live -- is this intentional? Either way, it works in terms of the setting (being in a medical facility, in a dilemma where doctors have to decide who to give up under extreme conditions). Nicely done.

mikejzx 2020-04-21 06:50

Well, it's an interesting game! Takes the theme quite literally. The art style is indeed great. The soundtrack is a bit repetitive though.

steve-dragon 2020-04-21 07:06

The game really fit the theme very well. I was constantly looking around, trying to keep patients alive. The thrill of having one actually live was amazing. It was fun and I found myself playing for a solid chunk of time, trying to figure out an optimal strategy. The music was relaxing, some sound to give feedback when I changed the ventilator from one to another may have been nice.

At a certain point, I felt locked down, because I only had a few beds left, and it felt like there was no way to push to recovery there. It felt like an endless vicious cycle, especially because sometimes the healthbars jumped back and forth randomly, despite the presence or absence of a ventilator. Maybe a bug? The Windows 64 bit version wasn't running for me either.

The art style was simple but conveyed a strong emotion. Loved the palette.

The biggest bummer was the ending screen. I saved all 24, but all it said was, "At least some survived". Would've liked some sort of victory screen.

Again, really fun game!

darylsteak 2020-04-21 07:51

I like how this was to an extent, a strategy game, where you have to plan who gets teh ventilator, the person almost about to recover, or the one that really needs it? The art style and music also fit well, and overall this was a pretty solid entry

no-grapes-games 2020-04-21 08:23

I like it! Nice time management game, and unfortunately rather topical. It was a lot of fun trying to decide when to switch patients. It was a bit frustrating having empty beds that would be perfect to move patients to, and having no way to. But I understand why that is from a gameplay perspective.

One minor issue I had was the inability to switch the ventilator I was standing at back again. Sometime I realized I had made a mistake and had to leave and come back to fix it.

Took a look at the source, and I also like the simplicity of the code! Overall it's a really great entry, good job!

joamd 2020-04-21 09:36

nice art style. Simple game. Can be a bit more fun i guess

acoto87 2020-04-21 17:54

@sheetcode @steve-dragon I'll look into that issue.

@steve-dragon Yeah, I miss one text when you manage to recover all patients, maybe I update that bit later.

@brian-teng Well, it wasn't that intentional, patients without ventilation can always recover based on a random choice, so switching the ventilator back and forth may have that effect if the random goes negative serveral times in a row for some of the patients.

@no-grapes-games Yeah, I didn't do anything extra to make possible the switching of the ventilator once you are already there, I decided to leave it that way to not introduce another key into the gameplay. Thanks for taking a look at the code too!

Thanks all for playing it and review it.

love the art give me that nostalgia of playing pokemon red/blue again

sorko 2020-04-22 16:46

I also loved the art, brought my game boy back to memory! The game was quite fun, managed to save all in the first run. Music was distracting, had to turn it off.

I did like that you can actually queue the actions, it made for so much more enjoyable gameplay.

silkworm-sweatshop 2020-04-23 20:45

Great use of the theme! A simple idea that works really well. Took a while before I noticed that patients can recover and it made me switch up my strategy quite a bit. Still lost 4 patients. Some sound effects would've been nice.

banzi 2020-04-24 09:22

Awesome entry! Its simple, but really fun to play. I couldn't stop playing until I had them all cured. Good job!

greendinogames 2020-04-24 11:45

Cool game! I kept them all alive :) The music gets a bit repetive after some time, and a switch/breath sound would've been cool when you switch the air mask. Artwork looks really good. Overall impressive game.

aurel300 2020-04-24 18:48

We streamed your game with Danae: [link to Twitch VOD](https://www.twitch.tv/videos/598538752?t=02h23m49s) (approximate timestamp)

Nice game. As mentioned in the stream, the biggest problem with the game seemed to be the fact that the difficulty curve is the other way around – it gets easier (and less interesting) as the game goes on!

god-colo 2020-04-25 06:39

Recovered 16! Death 8! How could I let them die! A great and fun clicking game! The music is awesome! Greato Jobu!

epicular 2020-04-25 06:45

The first five minutes were genuinely fun, fast-paced, and stressful. The last twenty five minutes were *brutally* slow and dull.

There was one particular pair of patients - in the top right corner - who had almost no health between them, thus was impossible to get either one back to health as it seemed that they could not recover faster than they would decline. After half an hour I threw in the towel and just let one of them die, which was really sad since the room was filled with other unused ventilators.

Overall it's a solid, complete entry - you managed to keep me playing for a long time which is an accomplishment in and of itself. The art was pretty good, but I would've liked a few different frames for the player facing each direction, and maybe a simple walking animation. The music was fitting, but I would've liked a bit more variation/complexity as it got really repetitive really fast.

dabbu 2020-04-25 06:56

great graphics! it's really fun in the beginning, but after a while it becomes repetitive because there's a lot of waiting around.

amazura 2020-04-25 10:17

well.. can't save one, poor baby. so.. do i get that 'the nurse of the year' achievement for this? by the way, great game love so much the graphics

Yes, 0 deaths, I am a hero!

Great game, very up to date. The graphics look amazing and it is fun to save the lives of those who are sick. The music is pretty good too.

bilbycoder 2020-04-25 10:22

Nice game. Surprisingly fun. I ended up working on a strategy of trying to keep most of the patients fairly equal but running a couple of beds close to the wire, trying to keep the ventilator on one patient as much as possible so that they would recover. I think my only criticism was the music was a bit repetitive by the end, but how much can I ask for in 48 hours?

Serious questions need to be asked about the management of this hospital. By the end I had free ventilators and others with two patients still hooked up.

Ended up with all but one patient recovered.

acoto87 2020-04-25 22:13

@epicular I think what you experienced there is some simplistic way of seeing what nurses and doctors have to cope with nowadays. I was the goal of the game although there is lot of stuff that could be improved for the gaming aspect of the project. Thanks for playing it!

@bilbycoder Yes, switching patients to unused ventilator-beds is one of the things that could make this a real time management game. Thanks for playing it!

@yonman Yes, you're a hero!

alfadas 2020-05-05 20:33

At first a realy fun game but in the end a bit dull. Since all patients seem to tend to survive over time, just keeping them alive and conentrating on one case after another to recover was not that hard. I am not sure what taking care of a Patient means.

But it is still a realy good game for 48h of time.

barret 2020-05-11 01:03

wow, so strangely the game isn't really fun per say, but it compelled me to save all the lives. I didn't want to let a single life die. I am not sure if it's b/c of our current situation but you pulled me in and made me care about these people. Really good job on achieving that.

The music was a bit repetitive but overall gave that sense of panick that things needed to be constantly checked.

Overall I liked this way more than I thought I would, and I actually played till the end
