LD55 — Summoning

Devotion - A fairytale by daandruff 2024-04-17T01:23:55Z

I loved this game so much! It was a lot of fun and I loved how it got step by step darker. The graphics were incredible, I loved the audio, and I would honestly love a whole game like that expanded on this! Really well done. I did get a little stumped by the book so I appreciate the spoiler-free walkthrough!

Summon Elements by mdotedot 2024-04-16T04:29:12Z

I think this was a super interesting concept! I didn't try multiplayer but there were some issues with getting the Solo mode to start. It was a couple of loops through selecting "start" then "Solo" then "Solo1". Understandably making an Undo or Restart would be difficult in multiplayer and that's what you started with, but Solo would have been much more user friendly if one or the other were implemented. It feels very discouraging to get through 85% of a level and then having to restart from the complete beginning. I do like this form of puzzle a lot but the difficulty in being able to repeat things made it hard for me to get into. The music was great, however I did need to turn it down after a while. I think this was good for a compo! A little bit of polish will go a long way if you want to keep working on/improving the game.

Riot in Hell by tthe 2024-04-20T04:57:17Z

This is a really great game! I was worried there was something wrong with my speakers because there was no sound but other than that the graphics were really good! I was really confused at first because there was so much going on around the screen and it just immediately started playing, but I was able to figure it out eventually. Like many others said, you can get the Faith to automatically be collected. I'm not sure if that was purposeful or not, but regardless it helped immensely! Thank you for your game :)

Honorius by BitLuderRb7804Fr 2024-04-17T01:11:07Z

I think the game was incredibly well made! It was difficult in a way I wouldn't expect which provided a nice challenge. However, it was super nerve-wracking that we only had so many lives and if you are unlucky you can lose 4 of them before you can even get any pairs right. Not to mention the match 3... Still, really cool game!

From Below by Pincushion 2024-04-17T00:02:52Z

I really enjoyed the concept of the game! It was just a bit tedious in practice. Having so many cards with 2 defense and less than or equal to 2 attack made the game drag on for a long time. However, I think that is something just a little balancing would fix. The overall mechanics of having to sacrifice cards to summon a card of the same type was really cool and could make for a very fleshed out game!

Claws and Conundrums by LocksmithArmy 2024-04-16T04:07:19Z

The graphics felt very Elder Scrolls which was nice! I like that the page turning was smooth but it would have been nice to get more controls. I read through the whole thing, and I love the lore. However it seemed like only the last few pages were necessary to connect the dots. I skipped to the end and figured out what the culprit was before I had finished, and then I went back to read the story.

The SUMmoning by Astrydax 2024-04-17T01:51:41Z

@kroltan Thank you so much for the link to play the game as well as the instructions. As for the game itself: The core game play was really interesting, but it was hard to understand with no controls or anything. Even with the embed that kroltan provided, it was still cut off unless you went into fullscreen, so the added "summoning points" info just wasn't there at all. As a note, you are allowed to edit your page to fix issues like this, so it would definitely be worth it to reuploading it. Adding controls to the description would be good too.

Mathemagical Sum-moning Battle! by DaSquid 2024-04-17T01:38:40Z

I think this game was really cool and innovative! It was fun and I liked figuring out all the patterns as I was playing it. Getting the answer wrong was a bit rough and there was times that I felt rushed, but it was still a lot of fun. Training my brain to automatically see it as a subtraction problem was interesting and took a bit... Also, while I enjoyed the music, it got super distracting when trying to focus on the math. Overall though, this was an incredible game and I could totally see this as an educational game that kids play to learn and practice.

Saturna's Hand by parkuhrmd 2024-04-19T23:30:22Z

I loved this game! It was so interesting and well-designed and also it has a lot of cool mechanics! I like that summoning the demon is not the same as building up said demon's strength and it requires balancing both! I also liked burning the candle to singe the cards. The graphics, music, and overall mood was really amazing!

Bendirat by Enad96 2024-04-17T22:44:24Z

The game was a lot of fun! I love story based games and this one was super interesting! I really enjoyed the graphics, the ambience, and the bits of humor here and there. I did solve the puzzle but I don't actually really know "why" I solved it. I really can't for the life of me understand why that position ending up working... regardless though I think this was a really well-made game and I would love to see more of it. Also I really loved the Kishōtenketsu reference. I had to look it up but it made me chuckle after the end of it.

Infernal Interns by Richard Ortiz 2024-04-16T05:18:59Z

I loved this game! It was really fun and silly and I really loved all the artwork. It has a lot of replayability. I got up to 4 gold reviews before I decided I need to move on from it. All of the different combinations and stories were a lot of fun. The only issue I had was sometimes the items would get stuck and I would have to click other ones before they would unstick, but other than that everything was amazing!

Cat Summoning Terminal by Patrick Pang 2024-04-17T00:56:09Z

The game was short and sweet! I like the command terminal a lot. My team also created a cat summoning game, I'm glad other people had similar ideas!

Pokoe The Forest Summoner's Day Off by Mavvy 2024-04-19T23:35:39Z

The game was super cute! I was a little confused in the beginning before I realized that how to shoot stuff but it was a lot of fun. The music and graphics were wonderful. The only problem for me was having to line myself up properly to aim correctly but other than that it was very fun. Well done!

Where the Hell is my Lawyer!?! by brettbubba03 2024-04-19T06:49:55Z

I really enjoyed playing the game! The artwork was fun and I loved the music/sounds a lot! The humor was amazing as well. I played 4-5 rounds and I think the most won I got was 2. At first, it felt really complicated. There was so much visual feedback happening at once that I didn't know what to look at. I think it might have helped if there was more time to read everything that was going on before it all disappeared. I didn't realize the other side took damage based off a certain attack until the second round, just because the numbers left before I could read it. I realized that the lines were mostly just fluff and then things got easier because I was mostly focused on the icons in the box. I think given the time limit that it makes sense that all of them was random, but it did add to the confusion. All in all I had a lot of fun and think it was a really well made game! The mechanics seemed really cool, just a bit hard to understand.

Lonely Hearts Demonology Club by The Lame Brain 2024-04-17T00:19:31Z

The game was pretty fun! I liked the little intermissions seeing people's interpersonal affairs. The intermissions seemed to be a bit random, like it was a random generator and there was not a lot of consistency. I was expecting to see relationships evolve, but in such a short time period that would be really difficult to do. I really enjoyed the music! It was very calming.

Hellish Military Service by Anton4ik-dev 2024-04-17T04:12:37Z

I liked the game but it should have had instructions. It took a few tries but I did figure it out. If they have a disease that is listed on the clipboard, they are unfit and you use the blue stamp. But if their appearance or any detail on the passport is incorrect, they are lying and you use the red stamp. If everything is perfect then they are fit and you use the green stamp. That's pretty much the only info that you need to play the game, but we didn't get it. The font was a bit difficult to read so I can't imagine what it was like for people with a smaller monitor or dyslexia or something. With all that said, I really did enjoy the game. It was fun after getting the hang of it and I loved the art and sound. Good work!

See You Again by TomatoOmelet 2024-04-17T02:51:27Z

Wow that was super interesting! I liked the little twist about "needing to see them again" and finding bits and pieces of the story throughout the house! It's really cool that you did all this in 48 hours!

Cupcake Summoning by mmayans 2024-04-16T02:15:30Z

Forgot to reply when I played it a couple days ago but it was super cute! Amazing job :hearts:

Part-Time Familiar by MatthewDrake 2024-04-16T09:20:19Z

I loved this game! VNs are absolutely my thing but I've seen a lot of bad ones... this game is not one of them! I loved the artwork and the story. It was a very sweet story (At least, for endings 1 and 2). I might play the last two later but I'm really happy with what I saw! The definitions were an awesome touch and I like that you added the "Soulsea" mode for later play throughs. <3

Summoner's Dilemma by sudocoffee 2024-04-17T02:33:55Z

I think the game was really well done considering the amount of time that you had to make it! I also like how you laid out your thought process in the main post. I only got to floor 2 and I was a few seconds away from floor 3 but like you said, the game has some pretty steep difficulty issues. Most of the criticisms I had you already addressed in the dev log so I don't have too much to add other than that. I really liked the concept, it was cute and I enjoyed playing it even though it was too difficult for me to get into it. I think that goes to show that you had a really solid core loop and it just needs some extra polish and tweaks :)

Rune Craft by Anifan gelati 2024-04-17T23:08:22Z

This game was super fun! As soon as I started the tutorial I immediately got Inscryption vibes! The 3D models and overall art was wonderful and I loved the sound effects a lot. I agree with others that a skip dialogue button would have been good, but overall I really enjoyed it! It would be nice to see how you would expand on it if you continued in the future!

POLLY by Spica 2024-04-16T23:50:09Z

I loved the game! The mechanics are solid and even took my messed up circles! Super cute and I absolutely loved the graphics. I think it would be really great as a full game :)

Crossworld by XRy 2024-04-19T07:08:59Z

I think this is a really interesting idea! I liked how responsive things were for the most part, although I kept finding myself stumped a lot of the time. I'm not a huge fan of word games, so I wouldn't be the target audience but I think this is really cool and would be awesome to flesh out. I think games that are easy to understand but hard to master are really good pulls for people and I could totally see this being successful. I ended up playing for quite a while before I decided to stop. Really well done!!!

Warlock's Apprentice by WestEastStudio 2024-04-16T08:41:58Z

I really loved this game! I'm a sucker for alchemy type games where you get more and more added to your collection the more you complete things so this was right up my alley. The art work was adorable! I will say though, there were a couple of bugs. One, after you summon an Epic Monster, and you go back to continue collecting more monsters, if you summon another Epic monster, the text on the screen overlaps and does so over and over again if you continue making Epic monsters. Also, I realized that it only required one Epic material to summon one of the Epic monsters, not two/both of the materials. These are edge cases and more nitpicks than anything, but I figured I might as well let y'all know since I found them. Also, I tried every single combination possible (like I wrote them down and crossed them off), but I still didn't unlock 5 of the monsters. It was driving me a little crazy. I also took screenshots in case you would like to know which ones were missing. This may or may not be a bug, but also just figured I should mention it. Thank you so much for your game! It was a lot of fun and super enjoyable!

Flickering Hope by Domenixius 2024-04-17T00:46:06Z

This was really cool! I really love spooky atmosphere games that do not have jump scares! The lighting was really good and I enjoyed the unique puzzle mechanics!

A Dearth of Cats by Saprina289 2024-04-17T21:52:19Z

Thank you all so much for the feedback. This is my first game jam ever, and I'm so thankful for all the positive responses! Also like to update that my teammate is feeling better! I've been sure to let them know all the well-wishes <3

We Blessed Few by koloquials 2024-04-16T03:34:31Z

I thought the game was super cute! I can tell all the detail that and effort that was put into everything. I think it was really creative and I liked the mechanics. I was a bit confused for the first playthrough because I just clicked "summon" without assigning a prayer because I didn't know how to do the assigning, but after that it was a lot of fun!!

Conjurer's Game by zoranac 2024-04-17T03:17:21Z

This was a cute game I really loved the graphics! Haven't played go fish in a long time but it was fun with the extra personalities and such! It looks really well made!

Caluce Jasa by Ceci 2024-04-16T07:13:28Z

I think the concept was very cool and the art was wonderful, however it was very difficult to play. Not having any controls means that I was lost for a very long time. Since I didn't know how to play, I couldn't make the first jump and there was a bug where the game didn't end, you can just continue moving forward. Also there isn't an easy way to quit the game other than Alt+F4 or Alt+Tab and closing the application. I tried this a few times before I discovered that you can pick up those three balls ("E" if anyone is wondering). Then I was able to get further. And the animations were incredible! I really loved what you did with the hand and the tail and everything. But I was really close to never experiencing those aspects of the game because of lack of knowledge. Also, I was never able to use the final ability. I'm not sure I made it to the end, but I would have liked to see the animation for the wings, if there was supposed to be any. Also the music was wonderful. It was rough, but I'm happy I got to experience the game.

Hoops by Alex4101 2024-04-16T02:23:50Z

Super fun! I liked all of the different shapes and sizes and having to learn how the gravity will affect each object

Psychic by LucioUUwe 2024-04-17T23:15:08Z

Hi just want to reiterate what the above person said, it looks like there are no links to the game! Would love to play if possible.

Papa's Summoneria by Yaro0 2024-04-16T08:50:35Z

Hi, just wanted to let you know that the game will not open. For unity games, you have to zip up the entire build folder, not just the .exe. I would love to try your game if you can get it working!

LD56 — Tiny Creatures

Tiny Baking Simulator by Sarah 2024-10-08T20:13:30Z

The game is super cozy and cute! I was a little confused at the start but once I started making things it started making sense. There was a little bug were when I tried to decorate a chocolate cake the fairy used a vanilla cake for the top, but other than that it was super fun! I loved how everything was automated. It worked pretty well although it was just a little bit slow.

Creepy Crawly Mansion by frozenfire92 2024-10-08T20:42:43Z

I really liked the minigames, however it took me awhile to understand the last two. The candles one makes sense in hindsight, but during it I couldn't understand why they weren't lighting up. I agree with other people who said there should be an indication for *why* they aren't lighting up. I also think the cauldron one was well done, but maybe the UI at the bottom of the cauldron could be a bit bigger. I didn't notice it until I had already clicked quite a few objects that were unnecessary. I love the pixel art and the spooky vibe!

The Pasture by Fis 2024-10-08T19:38:43Z

I loved the game! The tiny bunnies were so cute and I loved the animations! I appreciate having enough lives to keep playing even when the right veggies aren't available, however 30 was a lot! I didn't play a whole game because it would have dragged on a long time but I really enjoyed the time I spent playing it!

Nectar Nomads by Aaron Huggins 2024-10-07T23:19:15Z

I love the game! Its very cute and a nice little idle sim. I did manage to find a bug. If you pause the game and go to the title screen and press start game again, you cannot click on the hive to spawn a bee! You have to completely restart the game to continue playing. All-in-all, a fun little game! I love the bees!

Spider-Meow by FunnyPumpkin 2024-10-08T20:01:26Z

I loved the game and the spider-cat is so freaking cute! Happy that I got to save his little cat girlfriend. The sound effects and art and everything is super well done!

Tiny Takeout by Saprina289 2024-10-07T23:35:40Z

I added instructions to the description! There were also the controls and some hints in the "manual" tab of the main menu! @teroflups and @gaudy thanks for pointing that out!

Tiny Takeout by Saprina289 2024-10-08T19:01:47Z

@Pigeonescu and @aaron-huggins thank you for bringing up the white squares! The bug fix is now live!

Tardigrade Travels: A Tardigrade's Terrifyingly Terrific Traversal Through Time! by Plasmak 2024-10-08T20:31:53Z

I really enjoyed the game! I was a little confused about the ending. I wasn't sure if the space part with the other tardigrades was the end so I spent a long time in that area. I think more direction or a game complete screen would be helpful for that. It would also be good if there was a way to exit the game without having to tab out of it! Very cute little experience.

Fear Unbound by duca.ad 2024-10-08T19:53:20Z

I tried for a while to figure out how to progress but I didn't understand how. I stayed for a really long time at all of the flowers to see if they would bloom more but they didn't. The art is nice and I like the concept! Execution wise there are a lot of little bugs.
