LD56 — Tiny Creatures

Tiny Mutators Descend by Urfoex 2024-10-16T00:53:30Z

You managed to deliver a short, fun game, congratulations!

Art is simple, but nice. I liked how the cave entry looked. The voice line scared me, I didn't expect it.

I wish you had more time to create more levels, I see you had good ideas going on.

What happened to the tiny creatures that I left behind? Will they be ok?

Tiny Baking Simulator by Sarah 2024-10-10T00:38:06Z

Nice pixel art, the fairies and ingredients look great! I wouldn't have known you were new to this if I hadn't read the description.

I like how you decided to show the instructions, it made the baking process pretty straightforward.

It's unfortunate that you ran out of time to complete your initial idea... Maybe you could try to make a post-jam version, it sounds interesting.

Also, playing this game made me so hungry, damn.

My best cake slices:

Tiny Paws by EX3D0 2024-10-16T00:43:45Z

I love WarioWare, so I had a lot of fun with this game. The microgames are easy to understand, although I didn't expect to get a new one when I was at 30 points. I barely had time to react to what I had to do. I guess I was unlucky...

Art, music and sounds are nice. Well done!

If you ever make a post-jam version with more microgames and bosses, I'll make sure to try it!

The Battle Of The Pixels by elZach 2024-10-18T05:24:00Z

I had a lot of fun playing this. Even though the player interaction is simple, it still managed to get me very invested. Every battle was unique, since each player evolved their creature differently. The music was cool, although we may need more tracks if people keep adding creatures and the game becomes longer.

I really liked your idea. Have you thought about making a post-jam version? I'm curious to see what you'd come up with if you had more time.

My Drinlan army was unstoppable. We constantly rose from the dead and defeated everyone, including our clones.

Snake Rolls by Mars 2024-10-10T15:44:05Z

Fun game mechanics. I like the graphics too.

I wish you had more time, I can see you were going for a bigger level, but unfortunately it ended up unused.

Music kept me motivated to break the record.

Snake Rolls by Mars 2024-10-10T21:10:44Z

@mars I can't resist a good, fun challenge. I'm surprised someone managed to break it, my run was pretty much perfect... I don't think I can take it back.

Space Invaders by Jiri Hysek 2024-10-14T00:41:42Z

What a cool idea, very well done in such a short time! It was a nice challenge.

The mechanics look hard, but once you play a few levels, you get used to it and it's very fun. Those robot insects won't dare to attack again. I loved stomping them.

I think hotseat multiplayer is a great idea as well, both coop and versus could be very fun! I'll make sure to try it again if you add that.

Survive The Night by Dan Davis 2024-10-11T17:43:17Z

Very cool graphics. The atmosphere was dark and creepy until I saw these tiny, cute demons. I wanted to pet them, but I only had a sword, so that had to do.

Like other commenters said, it would be nice if there was an effect when hitting an enemy.

I went all out, killing everything in sight. And I ended up dying.

During the next runs, I made sure to hide, and I managed to survive. At least I showed those monsters who's the boss (when I wasn't hiding). It was fun!

@kadokta The highest score? Not for long. It's mine now. That church is definitely a nice place...

Highway Crossing Frog by jcbeaureg 2024-10-14T00:17:58Z

Damn, I felt so powerful playing this game. Nothing could stop me, I just punched my way through everything.

Graphics are nice, your presentation with that cover art and those gifs are so cool. I wish the game was longer.

Three Tiny Toblins by NightmaresDev 2024-10-13T01:41:42Z

I was taken by surprise when I started the game and heard the characters' voices. For a moment, I felt a bit schizophrenic, but then it turned out to be very funny.

Even though the red and green toblins were chubby (since the yellow one kept telling them they were heavy), I managed to progress through the map until something terrible happened: a cube fell on me and glitched the character, forcing me to restart everything.

img.png

Luckily, I pressed R and got saved from the wall. It was nice to have that option. After that, everything started working fine, and although the last puzzle required a lot of coordination, it wasn't too difficult. It would have been great to have some background music, but it's not a big issue. Once again, the detail of including the voices was very entertaining, I loved that!

Good job, I'd like to see a post-jam version. Here's my final pose:

The Fleshfather by ThorPalsson 2024-10-14T15:12:34Z

What an interesting atmosphere, both creepy and funny. It's a weird combination but you managed to pull it off.

I had a lot of fun taking care of my children. Jessica behaved really nicely, I just hope she stops having those seizures (she might need a doctor). I have to admire Long John Silver's dance, he's so talented for someone so young. Jeremy is so curious and creative, exploring satanic rituals with the unborn babies. Bartholomew, however, must stop smoking immediately. That's not good.

The textures, models, faces, music and sound effects, they all work together so well in this game. Great job!

I think I deserve some congratulations. I took care of all my creatures, whether born or unborn. Just look at this:

Shadow of the itty-bitties by Kaish 2024-10-15T13:38:00Z

Wow, I loved the pixel art and how it's complemented by the screen shader effect. It looks great.

I destroyed all the tiny bugs, but man that final boss was fast. It felt like a real battle against an actual mosquito.

Overall, the game feels very polished. It's a short but complete experience. I enjoyed the music too, nice work there as well.

Also, my favourite weapon was the almighty chancla, without a doubt.

Moments before the Big Foot incident:

Head'quarters by YogurtTheHorse 2024-10-15T15:18:58Z

Wow, the setting is very interesting, the atmosphere you built really piques my curiosity. I expected it to be harder to understand, but the game mechanics were quite straightforward.

Very fun to play! I loved the graphics and music. Despite the game's title, I didn't notice we were inside a head until I was halfway through the game. I guess the tiny creatures in my head were working on something else.

I tried to be as fast as possible, but I couldn't get the top record. At least I showed up in the leaderboard!

Kwakerz by wheelsx 2024-10-09T01:02:22Z

This one got me hooked for many rounds. I ended up filling everything with traps, but even then, smashing ducks with the hammer was still the most satisfying part.

Void Creatures by KaDokta 2024-10-09T01:47:29Z

This reminds me of bullet hell games, which I love, so I had a lot of fun! It starts easy, then it gets progressively harder, and that challenge kept me engaged. The moving zones caught me by surprise, but one tiny creature survived, so I managed to keep going. That was exciting.

I got to stage 18 twice. I really would have liked to keep trying, but in order to reach that stage again, you have to go through everything from the start, which feels a bit slow...

Does it go on infinitely, or is there an actual end? If there's an end, I might try again.

The core idea seems fresh and original, I haven't seen anything like it before. Very interesting.

Great work!

Ants Save The Queen by Filip Vannfält 2024-10-15T21:16:33Z

Very fun game! Nice art, I liked the enemy sprites. I loved the music too, especially the boss theme!

Interesting mechanic, having the ants be both health and ammo. I sure lost a lot of soldiers during the war, most during the final beetle battle. But in the end, three ants survived and saved the queen. I hope she rewards them for all they went through.

By the way, I got so many fire rate upgrades, I had the ant machine-gun.

PEPE's wall of pride by Wouter52 2024-10-14T19:18:03Z

I am the ultimate doomscroller. My pepe god is satisfied with my work.

Very original idea, I had fun playing this game! I see that the post-jam version addresses the main issues, so good work!

Loved the voice acting, it made me feel very immersed. I'm surprised pepe didn't ask for tendies at any time, just random memes.

img2.png

The post-jam scores seem to be much faster. I wanted to try that version, controls felt better, but some bug occurred and my mouse kept drifting while the mission was empty... That's creepypasta material right there. I'll make sure to try again if that's fixed. Great work overall!

PEPE's wall of pride by Wouter52 2024-10-14T21:59:29Z

@wouter52 Nice, good to see that you managed to fix it. The controls do feel much better! Have you thought about expanding the game with even more features?

img2.png

Magical Girl Danmaku Dandelina by alpacalypse 2024-10-09T14:16:04Z

Cute and fun game! I loved the art and the music.

On my first playthrough, I missed all the power-ups, but luckily I still managed to finish the level. The next time, I managed to collect them all and got to fight the boss with lasers.

Have you thought about making a post-jam update with more levels and bosses? I'd love to see that.

Very nice work overall. I enjoyed it!

Bee Hold by Defrag 2024-10-11T01:37:20Z

Interesting concept, I love being overworked by my beloved queen, I hope she notices me someday.

It's annoying having to deal with those bully wasps who punch me and steal my pollen as soon as they see me, but it's fine because I call my gangster friends to beat them up. So that's great.

I ended up losing, since I was a few honeycombs short for the winter. Still, I got through it in a second run, without any help from my homies because I can do it on my own, as the hardworking bee that I am.

The music makes me a little nervous, and it was tedious to have to redo everything the first time I lost, but the second time I went all out, carrying 4 jars of pollen on each leg. Definitely a great experience. Good job!

Wink and the Fae by Pious 2024-10-15T09:33:05Z

Beautiful art, very cute. I had fun killing monsters to befriend them. Or maybe they were trapped inside the monsters, I'm not sure.

I love the calming, melancholic music, and how it becomes more intense as you progress. Very cool.

I couldn't resist doing a conga with my tiny friends.

img2.png

I was having so much fun that I forgot to bring them back home. Look at all the friends I saved!

img3.png

Goops by Arsvarg 2024-10-10T21:03:19Z

Nice puzzle game, I enjoyed all the levels. The music, art and gameplay work together really well.

The goops twerking is the icing on the cake.

Congratulations on your game, it's great!

This is my favourite goop. I think it tried to twerk, but couldn't :(

Mooovement Game by MarkAis 2024-10-11T01:08:43Z

I had never seen such an epic trailer before, I needed to try it immediately after seeing that cow with steel udders sliding around. I imagine the tiny creatures are the little cows.

The mechanics remind me of surfing in CS, quite satisfying and fun. It's a shame for all the baby cows I lost along the way while trying to fly towards nirvana, but I enjoyed it!

The space level was quite challenging but I like that. Good game and great humor.

In the 4th level, I struggled to find my third baby cow, but I never found it. I hope you make it back home someday, Gustavo.

Mooovement Game by MarkAis 2024-10-14T02:48:17Z

Just the update that I needed. I have found my missing baby, flying around in the sky.

And I can also dominate the leaderboard. Thank you @markais ! Great moove

the Last Leukocyte by bad_fetus 2024-10-10T14:57:26Z

Very fun game!

I like seemingly simple mechanics that have a big impact on the game, such as the heart blocking both your bullets and your movement.

Choosing one of three upgrades is a common trope but works very well in games like this. Even if they are not all equally useful (they don't have to be), you can always feel the difference, which is very nice.

As for suggestions, I'd like the gray enemy spawn circles to be more noticeable. Blue enemies hitting you was sometimes disorienting; a smoother push rather than teleporting the player might feel better. These aren't huge issues, though.

Interesting enemy concepts too. I'm curious to see what else you'd come up with if you had more time.

I love a good challenge, couldn't resist trying to take the first place in this one. Had a lot of fun doing so.

Great job!

Please Find Them by AdamLenglen 2024-10-15T20:14:43Z

Wow, this game is so polished! The pixel art is amazing, the difficulty is engaging... I liked the background music, too. Thankfully, it wasn't distracting me from the tasks. The voice acting was pretty funny. That poor kid, I hope he didn't get into trouble.

I ran out of time in one level and I noticed the hints were different. I thought the creatures were always in the same position, but it seems like that's not the case. I'm impressed you added that feature, along with everything else, in such a short time. I had a lot of fun playing this game. Congratulations!

And yes, I found them all! I hope they learned their lesson and never show up again, those microscopic monsters. Where did they even come from?

Drinlan Madness by Drinlan 2024-10-11T02:12:57Z

Thanks for your comments, everyone! I love seeing all your reactions and opinions.

@euler-moises and @bad-fetus both make a good point about the crouch, since its purpose is never explained. Crouching modifies both the Z and X attacks, reversing their directions and changing the orb's position, so the player actually has four attacks. Those attacks do help in the final fight, just like you originally thought.

If I make a post-jam version, I will definitely make that clear in the tutorial.

Thank you all for your feedback!

Stacoon by Wesel 2024-10-14T17:06:52Z

Interesting concept. Cute raccoons. I had fun playing the levels. Puzzles were challenging, but not too much, good job!

It was funny to extend the purple raccoon and launch another one to infinity. I wish you had time to add pink's ability that you mentioned in the comments.

I noticed that you can switch characters while they are walking and they keep going, that made movement feel faster and overall better. Nice!

I just wonder, what are these raccoons trying to accomplish...
