Not used to auto-aim+fire in this genre. It works well here. The ability to physically block enemies from getting to the heart is interesting and I definitely haven't figured out how best to use it yet.

It's also just *really fun*. There's a certain amount of time I usually spend on a game before leaving ratings and moving on, and I've been playing this *way longer than that*.

This is pretty fun at its core, I wish there were sound effects, would have added a lot considering the music is pretty good.
Liked the concept, the game is well made. It confused me a little in my 1st playthrough since I though I'd have to be close to enemies to kill them and later on I found out I shoot projectiles lol.Though with games like that, it requires a lot of balancing and even though the game is really forgiving and your heart tanks a lot of damage, I feel there isn't enough level-ups in the beginning to counter-attack the later waves of enemies. All in all, a solid entry.
Was very enjoyable to play, the green ones get really overwhelming fast though :D Tried multiple plays to get a better score.
To me I initially thought I have to "swallow up" the black enemies by going near them, and it seemed to work because I didn't even see the bullets fly. Maybe some impact of the bullet (sound, little knockback on the enemy before they die, some impact graphics) would've made that more obvious. But overall great how much you achieved in just 48 hours!
This was my secondary idea during planning stage, really like the concept
Art and music fit together thematically well. I like the take on the theme. It was a little hard for me to understand what the numbers on the upgrades meant other than "bigger numbers are better!" but it didn't stop me from having fun.
This is a lot of fun! Very simple concept, but the upgrades and being able to choose really elevates it and adds a lot of replay value.
Fun to play! I found that getting around my own heart was the most annoying aspect of the game, but I want to replay to get better, which is a good sign of a solid entry!
I like that there is a leaderboard. I am interested in how you set it up, I'll go look at the github page.
@dhim the leaderboard relies on https://dreamlo.com/ for the backend - all I'm doing is managing API calls to it. Thanks for playing!
Well done concept with art & music, but sometimes it is too bad that i cannot go through barrier and should walk arount to reach the enemy. Maybe should rebalance abilities cuz they value is not equal.
this game is kind of funny ,wish for more content to play, and more weapons to get
@bad-fetus, I had indeed found it in the code, which by the way means you are leaking a secret...
@dhim true, I didn't have time to look into excluding that from the repository. FWIW I don't think it's too difficult to sniff it out either, just have to trust nobody abuses it
Nice take on the theme! I would welcome some extra effects for hitting enemies; at the beginning, I thought I had to hug the enemies and only then I figured out that I am auto-shooting. I wanted to complain a bit about me sucking, but I gave it another try (which is a job well done with the game) and managed to hit some semi-decent score, ha!
Secret leaking is a huge issue on GitHub/GitLab, and it is a hard habit to take to never ever commit one to a repository because once on GitHub, it can not be removed easily :(
But the system is cool, I have always wanted to have a leaderboard, and that's now a goal for my next LD. Thank you (also I have unabused of the system)
Funny enough, I also thought about making a game about body defenses and parasites when I saw the jam's theme. Guess great minds think alike! The game is really fun, and the upgrades are a nice touch. I can see this turning into a full game with some more work. Great job!
I like the mutations feature, fun and simple game!
14379 so far, will have to come back to it later. :D It's super satisfying when you get a good one going.
Really nice job! The mechanics were really easy to understand, and everything felt smooth and polished. I actually really liked that you could collide with the enemies, it was fun to be able to push enemies around and physically stop them from reaching the heart while wait for a shot to charge
Really cute game, was fun. Although, the music became really repetitive early on.
Cool game with nice enemy variety!
The attack projectiles could use a tiny bit of juice.
It would be nice to be able to select upgrades with the arrow keys or just the keyboard in general.
Would be fun to have an option to clear all currently spawned enemies with a blast instead of upgrading (or have this as a regular option that comes up sometimes), this could feel like a satisfying way to get out of losing sitations.
Great game! 🎮 The idea of auto-shooting and blocking enemies is very interesting, adds strategic depth. It was fun to experiment with tactics, although at first I was a little confused with the controls 😅. The graphics and music create a cool atmosphere 🎶. I would like more effects for hitting, but anyway I enjoy the process! Great job for 48 hours! 💥
Cool and simple idea. I loves playing it
This game is so cool! I loved it!
Pretty fun vampire-survivors-like game! It took me a few goes to really get it, and I didn't realise I could push enemies; I was just avoiding touching them until I saw people talking about it here in the comments.
Very fun game!
I like seemingly simple mechanics that have a big impact on the game, such as the heart blocking both your bullets and your movement.
Choosing one of three upgrades is a common trope but works very well in games like this. Even if they are not all equally useful (they don't have to be), you can always feel the difference, which is very nice.
As for suggestions, I'd like the gray enemy spawn circles to be more noticeable. Blue enemies hitting you was sometimes disorienting; a smoother push rather than teleporting the player might feel better. These aren't huge issues, though.
Interesting enemy concepts too. I'm curious to see what else you'd come up with if you had more time.
I love a good challenge, couldn't resist trying to take the first place in this one. Had a lot of fun doing so.
Great job!

@drinlan Wow! Insane score, wasn't expecting anyone to obliterate the leaderboards to that degree. I'm glad you enjoyed the game enough to accomplish that.
Thanks for the feedback - slowly working on a post-jam version (small in scope, QoL improvements etc.) - should be able to incorporate those.
I wish I was a cell
I had a ton of fun! I'm pretty terrible at these but the movement was slick and the gameplay was pretty fun! I could get lost here for hours!
Fun game, I tried to make a run, but had a couple runs with no attack speed boost till it was too late. Still played for like 30 mins though!
Thanks for submitting your game to the stream! If you wanted to watch it again in the future heres the vod of the stream (timestamped to your game)

Also Wanted to ask if youre fine with me using gameplay from the game in this LDs [score chasers tournament](https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/56/$405421/ludum-dare-score-chasers-qualification-begins) intermission video. (Would play in the breaks of the tournament on my stream). Last year for reference https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YuddhZScWxo
@ategon please do! :smile:
