I didn't expect a beat-em-up for this theme. Nice job making a fully fleshed-out beat-em-up with multiple moves, funny writing, and very good pixel art!

LMAO, I love how you included the theme into the game. Well done.
This was a fun beat-em-up! I enjoyed the variety of moves and the interesting theme of being able to only kill with the color you have. It did feel pretty punishing to fight all of them with the same moveset, but you massively made up for it with the checkpoint against the boss, and it was impressive you had a boss!
Pretty well done!
The game was really fun to play. It really reminded me of playing those flash games back in the day. Moment felt good, the difficulty scaled nicely, and even though I did die at the last fight, it didn't make me have to redo the entire game which was nice! The audio was good, hit the game very well. A really unique take on the theme!
"I hope it doesn't end up being a cult" <- famous last words
This game was super fun, and I loved it! The animations were very expressive and ridiculous. My favorite was the guy that bounces around the room doing spin kicks. It felt very difficult, but I ended up beating it on my second attempt so it's probably not *that* hard. It probably just feels hard because of how intense it gets.
Woah hey cool game! I was surprised to see so many different attackers with funky unique attacks. Big fan of the animation for the floor spike guy. Theres a lot in this! I didnt get very far in terms of progression i think, its pretty tough an I had a hard time telegraphing where an attack would be sometimes (mostly the explosions).
Big fan of the sounds and music!
Super nice graphics and animations! It felt like I really felt like I was playing an old school handheld. I would have loved the ability to change keybindings though, but I know that is a bit ambitious of a request for a jam game lol. Good entry and I hope to see more from you in future jams!
amazing art and polish! juggling enemies is very fun
music was a lil repetitive but that sorta matched the style... nice overall art and gameplay
Cool game! Cool art! Cool music! Cool battles!
I didn't use the crouch, so I found it a useless move in the game. And after being hit the player should have a period of invincibility. There are some combos that are quite overpowered.
I would only change that.
Congratulations on the game!!!
really loved how u incorporated the theme onto the game- also found the intro funny lol. I really had fun fighting!!
This game is gorgeous! Very polished graphics for a jam game. Pretty to look at, and no issues with readability - very important for a action game.
The way the theme is introduced via the dialogue is funny, and the humor was on point in general - “I hope it doesn’t end up being a cult”.
The only thing I would change is the crouch - like the commenter above I couldn't find a use for it. I thought it would make a lot of sense in the final fight with the boss being smaller but it didn't seem to help there (might be a skill isuse on my part, not sure ). This is not a major flaw though, it's easy to ignore the action after all - but it would help add more variety to add one more useful action as I ended up mostly spamming z/x depending on the situation.
Enjoyed this a lot! Fantastic work, very well done!
Thanks for your comments, everyone! I love seeing all your reactions and opinions.
@euler-moises and @bad-fetus both make a good point about the crouch, since its purpose is never explained. Crouching modifies both the Z and X attacks, reversing their directions and changing the orb's position, so the player actually has four attacks. Those attacks do help in the final fight, just like you originally thought.
If I make a post-jam version, I will definitely make that clear in the tutorial.
Thank you all for your feedback!
What an incredibly polished little game, it's a shame i am absolutely terrible at these sort of games but damn is it well made. Veeery good job!
Very cool! Wicked enemy abilities and movements. This was impressive. I really enjoyed the super tiny creature boss fight at the end!
You did that alone !?!? Amazing introduction, pixel art and mechanics. Loved the discrete tutorial very well done, as well as the sound. Great game, polished and definitly interesting
This game has all the hallmarks you come to expect from the beat-em-ups genre. The control feels great and the visuals are solid. But I'm not sure if I would agree with the theme. Having creatures represented by small shapes and telling me they're creatures doesn't feel right. I think more of the experience should have been centered around the creatures aspect.
But this is great for a compo project. Nice job!
That was great!
The movement and controls all felt really fluid and the animations and sound effects made everything feel really satisfying and punchy. You absolutely nailed the retro look and feel!
I also really liked the little intro scene at the beginning, it was really funny and was also a nice little surprised, it's not often you see a fully scripted intro cutscene in a Ludum Dare game. The variety of enemies with their different movesets was also really fun.
The only beat'em up I saw and one of great quality too! No idea how you managed to it all by yourself in such a short time!
Amazing short game and not too punishing, thanks for bringing it to the stream :) https://youtu.be/vVlmo-FYgm0

Nice little beat'm'up. My current key set up makes it a little hard to control. Just upper-cut and keep them in the air 💪✊✊✊✊✊
Very fun beat em up and very polished! I used a controller and the controls felt great. Also it was very generous letting us restart at the boss, eventually I'll try to do it all without any restarts
