Apr 7 18:39:41 Deep Throat [browser] ♥ 1 My first review, let’s go! While the core gameplay could use some polish, it’s pretty unique, I see a lot of potential. The pacing felt slow at times, even with enemy respawns on the way through the body. Maybe a quick way to go from inside to outside (and back to where you were) would help, or just making the speed upgrade a default feature. Also, at max speed, the camera feels like it struggles a bit to follow the player smoothly. Even without music, I think the game would improve drastically with more sound effects. The ones that are there are so rare and specific that they feel off, even though they fit the game well. The art works great, I like the clash of styles, it gives the game a unique vibe. The only thing that I didn’t like very much was the enemies' design, I wish they had a bit more creativity. The game’s humor totally helps a lot to compensate for the flaws, and with that comes a good story. Also, the black circle simulating the camera is a nice touch! I’m not 100% sure yet, but exploring the body feels like a more unique take on the theme, which is appreciated. All in all, the gameplay loop, art, story, and humor work really well! It’s just the audio and gameplay pacing that leave a bit to be desired. Great compo entry, and even more impressive as your first LD! Well done!
Apr 7 20:11:48 1h 32m oroBOREos ♥ 1 It took me a bit to figure out I needed to go back to the surface to avoid exploding. A "how to play" would help clarify that. The controls, however, felt very intuitive. I usually find this type of gameplay really fun. The game needs some polish, but it works well as it is. Well done!
Apr 7 21:00:36 48m 48s Minersweeper ♥ 1 I was engaged. It's interesting how simple the game is, but it still works well as a game.
Apr 7 21:18:42 18m 06s Apnea ♥ 1 Wow! Splendid atmosphere! The game loses its purpose by not holding your breath, this way making the players do it willingly. I didn’t think it was possible to enforce that so effectively! That’s fascinating! You really created a totally unique concept. My only real critique is that the rewards from the dive goals could be more interesting. A coin is such a common video game reward, it doesn’t quite match the creativity of everything else. But aside from that, it’s splendid. Well done!
Apr 7 22:24:43 1h 06m Hole Punch ♥ 1 The victory sound feels a bit loud (even though it nails the vibe) especially compared to the music. The graphics could also use a bit more style. Still, everything works well; it’s a solid little game. There’s something really cathartic about jumping higher and higher, then falling back down.
Apr 7 22:33:44 9m 01s Fire Exit ♥ 3 The game is terrifying!! First meeting the elf on the stairs makes their later jumpscare feel a bit less impactful, since you’re already somewhat familiar with them, though they’re really well-made. Some of the dialogue can be hard to hear, but the effort still comes through. I really like that the player goes up the stairs instead of down; most horror games do the opposite. There’s a good amount of creative ways to scare the player. The animation is amazing, and the comedy balances really well with the horror. Great job!
Apr 8 00:02:30 1h 28m Super BAD Boy! ♥ 3 The dangers in the game need to stand out more, spikes look way too similar to the ground, and enemy bullets are tiny and gray. But aside from that, the graphics are really good. By the way, best UI! The gameplay works well enough, though I wish there was more feedback when the timer runs out, at first, I was confused about why I died. I also wish the shoot key wasn’t E; it’s a bit awkward to press while walking right with D. But overall, well done!
Apr 8 18:52:38 18h 50m DUCKDEPF ♥ 1 Falling and dodging feels really nice, and I like how Boost and Float add more dimension to the gameplay. The protagonist is adorable, their sadness actually gives you more motivation to win, and because of that, every dodge feels more rewarding. The music is amazing, and I love how it slows down on the game over screen. All in all, great work!
Apr 8 20:39:11 1h 46m Absolve ♥ 2 WOW!! I LOVE THE GAME!! The 666 meters detail is such a nice addition to an already perfect atmosphere! The description and dialogue are really well crafted! I eventually found a bug that makes hunger stop affecting you, which actually let me finish the game, and the ending is amazing as well! The gameplay could use a bit of polish and balancing. The tile placing and rotation mechanic needs more items to really feel useful. Still, it’s a solid experience overall, and my favorite game so far. Great work!!
Apr 8 21:22:31 43m 20s This Blasted Mine ♥ 2 I won! I think the game could use faster explosions, a clearer way to see where the placed bomb is going to blow up, a quicker way to restart the level, and—since the order of the TNT matters, numbers on each TNT. Even without those things, it’s still a fun little game! Well done!! kr6.png
Apr 8 21:37:18 14m 47s Eraser ♥ 1 Very well-thought-out story and presentation. Well done!
Apr 8 21:51:30 14m 12s Forest Depths ♥ 2 The scenery is nice to look at, and the game is effective at creating a tense, terrifying atmosphere and a sense of urgency when running from danger. Well done!
Apr 8 22:01:49 10m 19s BoP ♥ 2 That was so fun!! It’s such a funny premise to see a skeleton falling down the stairs. The music works really well with it, and it’s excellent! Great game! Great Work!
Apr 8 22:13:56 12m 07s Cave Escape ♥ 3 Really charming! Super fun! Well done!
Apr 8 22:25:44 11m 48s Inbetween the Depths ♥ 1 The audio’s nice and the way the fish mouths move is funny. Timing the shots and landing them feels great. Well done!
Apr 8 22:51:06 25m 22s Sammich Snatcher ♥ 1 This is so addictive, every time I died, I felt more motivated to finish the game, and I actually did! Also, the art is super cute. Well done! Screenshot_1.png
Apr 8 23:01:39 10m 33s Holy Moly! ♥ 2 It’s so funny to see a mole fighting farmers with a shovel, especially with that murderer eye expression. The art is phenomenal, the atmosphere is great, and the fact it’s a compo game makes it even more awesome. The only issue I had is that the gameplay doesn’t feel fully fleshed out, but everything else is spot on. Well done!
Apr 8 23:16:34 14m 55s Nine to Five Nightmare ♥ 2 The cuteness contrasts really well with the corporate feel it's trying to avoid. I had fun, well done!
Apr 9 02:30:41 3h 14m DESCEND with CAUTION ♥ 1 Great, original idea that fits the theme perfectly, and a compo nonetheless! Well done!
Apr 9 02:50:02 19m 21s Meanepth ♥ 3 What a gorgeous world you guys created, with such an intriguing depth of story. It’s so pleasant, I feel like I could walk in it forever
Apr 9 14:48:34 11h 58m For the last hug ♥ 1 What a beautiful little game. The simplicity of the forms contrasts with a powerful symbolic story that matches perfectly with the gameplay.
Apr 9 14:59:21 10m 47s HOLE ♥ 1 The falling animation is hilarious, I love it. The game works well even with its simplicity. However, a few more obstacle types would enhance it a lot, and since the point is to fall, I'm not quite sure what the jump is for. But anyway, it's still a good game with great music, well done!
Apr 9 15:08:47 9m 26s Rejection ♥ 2 I didn’t know it was still possible to innovate in platformers in such a unique and fun way. And the way the story works its way into the gameplay is wonderful. Well done!
Apr 9 15:19:12 10m 25s Deep Dive ♥ 2 Even though there are a lot of games about falling in the competition, I haven't found another with such refreshing realism and magnitude of depth. It adds a unique feel to the catharsis of falling. Well done! Screenshot_1.png
Apr 9 15:30:10 10m 58s The Deepest Descent ♥ 3 Wow, this is hard! I really like the variety of obstacles, it keeps things fresh. The idea of falling deeper and deeper into hell is nice, and the music fits the vibe perfectly! The intro is also hilarious. Well done!
Apr 9 16:22:05 51m 55s Diving Belle ♥ 1 Wow! This is the most fun I’ve had in the competition so far, even if most of it came from breaking the game's balance. The enemy variety is great, taking them down feels super cathartic, and the game does a good job visually showing how strong each one is. Also, the art is absolutely adorable. Well done!
Apr 9 17:17:45 55m 40s Finding Meno ♥ 0 "THIS IS IMPOSSIBLE!!" Those words came from me at the start, but that was the weak me, the non-five-gun-wielding starfish me! Now, I have become the being I was truly meant to be!!! Screenshot_4.png
Apr 9 17:25:48 8m 03s Cursor Descend ♥ 1 I think the cursor could use a bit more personality in its design. Also, maybe the space key could be slow down instead of speed up, since I usually don’t let go of it, and the game encourages completing levels quickly. Still, it’s a good little game with a charming visual. Well done!
Apr 13 18:11:49 96h 46m Crush Depth ♥ 0 It took me a bit of time to understand how the game worked, but once I did, I had fun! I love the idea that it's the depth that kills the submarine rather than the bullets, it’s a clever use of the theme. The art is lovely. But I think the bubble bar and health could stand out more, though; they blend into the background a bit too well.
Apr 13 18:14:49 3m 00s Wicked Into The Depths ♥ 1 The first challenge was hard, but only because I wasn't aware of the double jump. Although the Itch.io page mentions it, I think this page should mention it too, so the game doesn’t become too hard at the start. After that, I was impressed by the creativity and the interesting variety of challenges, each one connecting to a sin. Well done!
Apr 13 18:17:09 2m 20s Little Caveman ♥ 1 This game is super hard. I tried a lot, but in the end, I wasn’t able to finish. Still, I really like the creativity behind the protagonist and the environment. The pink bubble’s hitbox can be a bit tricky to figure out, it took me some time to get used to it. But it’s still a cool little platformer. Well done!
Apr 13 18:20:07 2m 58s DEPTHS OF HELL ♥ 0 Quite a unique idea! The page-cleaning mechanic is really interesting, it just needs a bit more polish. Maybe make the text a little harder to read, I was able to read it even without wiping the page. By the way, the monster design is super cool. Well done!
Apr 13 18:26:12 6m 05s The Final Descent ♥ 1 Quite a feat for a compo game! It's very functional, but I wish there were a few more things to set it apart from most FPS, shooting zombies and finding ammo is pretty standard, even though the elevator idea is pretty cool. The graphics are quite good; some walls could use textures, but that actually adds a bit of charm. There was a spot—after going up the tall stairs and turning right—where I couldn’t jump to get to the ammo. I think that might be a bug. Also, the ending is great! All in all, it’s an impressive and fun little compo game. Well done!
Apr 13 18:33:29 7m 17s Shleep ♥ 4 Wow. One of the best game jam games I’ve ever played in a gamejam. It’s so interesting, so unique, so cool, so charming, so cute, so awesome, so fun, there’s a good chance you guys could win the whole thing. If I had to force myself to criticize something, I’d say the wolves feel a bit out of place in the otherwise calm and wonderful atmosphere. They kind of pull you back into the "fighting enemies in a video game" mindset, even thought they fit the sheep farm theme really well, making the setting feel more complete. Also, the UI can be a bit vague and doesn’t stand out much, but in a way, that also adds to the game’s wonderful atmosphere. But those are just nitpicks. The game is wonderful. actually, more than wonderful. Great job!
Apr 13 18:41:20 7m 51s Excapade ♥ 2 The graphics are great! I like how the bombs adds a unique element to the turn-based gameplay, which gels really well with the mining mechanics. Well done!
Apr 15 16:24:47 45h 43m The Stairwell Anomaly ♥ 2 The horror atmosphere is well built, and the story gave more dimension to the place. Nice little game! The ending also caught me by surprise lol.
Apr 15 16:30:39 5m 52s Voidrunner ♥ 3 It’s a game that’s tricky at first, but it gets more and more fun as you get used to it. The graphics are phenomenal, though they don’t differ much from other space games. There’s a lot of potential here, but what’s already there is quite fun. Well done!
Apr 15 16:34:36 3m 57s Descent Protocol ♥ 3 The physics need a bit of polish, but I had a lot of fun swinging around in the game. The little animations at the end of the levels are quite charming, and they pair well with the great music and SFX. Well done!
Apr 15 16:42:10 7m 34s The Chase Beneath ♥ 1 The keys are a bit hard to see, being tiny and brown in a brown environment, but that actually adds to the realism, and I never felt lost, since they’re hidden in the only cluttered areas of the game. Sewers are a great setting for a horror game and fit perfectly with the theme. Though it was scary, I felt more trapped than chased, but that’s not really a big problem. The sound is perfect, and the scares work really well. Overall, it’s a very effective and well-made horror game. Well done!
Apr 15 16:43:38 1m 28s Keep Hopping ♥ 1 It needs polish, but it has potential, for now, it’s the cutest little game ever. Keep it up!
Apr 19 17:21:33 96h 37m Dive to Survive ♥ 1 I like the unique touch the game gives to platformers by simulating an underwater feel, right down to the really slow movement. I thought the slow pacing would annoy me, but it never actually did, it was super fun. This realism of movement also enhances the atmosphere of the game. So overall, it’s a good little game, well done!
Apr 19 17:25:45 4m 12s Down Golf ♥ 1 Quite funny. The idea of going down every golf hole to play more golf is a pretty unique interpretation of the theme, lol, and hilarious. The sounds are adorable and funny, and the game adds enough new things to stand out from other golf games. Well done!
Apr 19 18:04:53 39m 08s Ctrl + Dive ♥ 2 This is a great compo game! The atmosphere is built so well, though it's slightly brought down by the very simplistic submarine art — I wish there were a few more details — and the coins, which feel a bit out of place. However, the 'don’t touch the edges' gameplay is super well done and fun, and the HUD is amazing. Great work!
Apr 19 18:09:47 4m 54s Spear Bird ♥ 3 This game is amazing! The simplistic art is very charming, and the gameplay works mostly perfectly. The jellyfish, feel a bit unfair — I never felt like there was enough time to dodge after they appeared on-screen. The gameplay can be frustrating at first, but the more you play, the more you get used to it, and the more fun it gets. Well done!
Apr 19 18:13:03 3m 16s Song of the Depths feat. Shian ♥ 1 This has such phenomenal art and music for a compo! The simplicity of the gameplay matches the relaxing atmosphere perfectly. I love it! Well done!
Apr 19 18:44:31 31m 28s Froggy Towers ♥ 1 The frogs are ADORABLE!!! And there’s a good variety of them and of towers, and the gameplay works well. The thing that bothered me the most was the simplicity of the environment — after seeing that magnifique menu art, it feels a bit underwhelming. Anyway, I loved the game! Well done!
Apr 20 19:31:40 24h 47m Subnet ♥ 0 I like that you implemented the theme into a unique gameplay mechanic that is also really fun. And the game looks amazing for a compo entry, it’s simple, but it has style. Well done!
Apr 20 19:56:03 24m 23s Descend ♥ 1 The atmosphere and graphics are wonderful, especially for a compo game. I love the scenery as well, so creative. Great work!
Apr 20 20:35:22 39m 19s Debt Bust ♥ 1 I really enjoyed playing, there's a lot of potential, and the art is amazing! I just wish there were more. However, the SFX actually hurt my ears a little. Still, it's a good game! Well done!
Apr 20 21:00:18 24m 56s The House in the Dark Forest ♥ 1 Great game! Even though it mixes two very different graphical styles, they work really well together. All the visual details are great too, like how the walls only become visible near the player, and the shiny lights you need to reach. Great work!
Apr 20 21:05:52 5m 34s GRAFFITI TOWER ♥ 1 I love headbutting the floor! It's so cathartic! This game has a unique style for this jam, I haven't seen another one about graffiti, but it still follows the theme well. I really like this originality. I also love how fun it is to stun the enemies, and the fact that they don’t hurt you, just confuse you, is a great touch. Great work!
Apr 21 19:25:06 22h 19m The Depths ♥ 1 The music gives so much life to the game, I’ve rarely seen it used so well! The gameplay is fun, and the tutorial is very well integrated. However, I wish the interpretation of the theme was a bit more unique, since there are so many submarine-based games. Still, I liked it so much I wanted more levels lol. This is a good game. Well done!
Apr 21 22:08:53 2h 43m SATIATE ♥ 0 The eating mechanic is interesting, and blood is a fun replacement for money. The random regeneration mechanic of the rooms works well, but they could use a bit more randomness, I think random enemies would help. But anyway, I had fun, well done!
Apr 21 22:13:37 4m 44s Down the Rabbit Hole ♥ 2 This is quite a cute game! I felt motivated to play well because I empathized so much with the bunny and her problems. It’s a great and interesting topic for a game, and a uniquely creative way to interpret the theme. The Undertale-like gameplay works really well with this idea too. Overall, this game is great. Well done!
Apr 22 15:12:33 16h 58m We're at the bottom ♥ 1 That is such a cute concept — it reminds me of There Is No Game, perhaps that was the inspiration. The defiance towards the creator is fun and makes us feel free from the rules of the game. Even though it leans toward the “doors” theme, I still think the “depths” theme is used really well. The puzzles are fun and intuitive, and overall, it’s a good game. Well done!
Apr 22 15:35:04 22m 31s Swim ♥ 1 I like it! The lack of detail in the graphics is a bit jarring, but it's compensated by the character’s animation, it's really wonderful to look at and quite unique. The gameplay has a lot of potential; it just needs a bit of polish. Sometimes, when coming out of the water, I got a little stuck. Still, it’s a decent little game! Well done!
Apr 22 17:20:17 1h 45m The Nameless cave 2 ♥ 1 I think some variety of enemies would enhance the game a lot. The powers are super fun, but it's really hard to hit the flying enemies with most of them. Also, the boss battle could use a bit more challenge, to keep the pacing more interesting. I love the graphics, the way you get power-ups is quite unique and interesting, and the pale mana and HP bars are beautiful. Well done!
Apr 22 17:24:13 3m 56s Deep Zero (updated version) ♥ 2 The chasing mechanic is unique for this jam, and I like it; it's a breath of fresh air. The SFX are good, they convey the emotion needed for each part of the game. The intro does a great job setting up the story without dialogue; I immediately understood that a kid wandered into a cave and needs to escape or die. Well done!
Apr 22 17:31:12 6m 59s i have no clothes and i must clean ♥ 3 Wow!! This game is amazing! The left-right walking mechanic is so unique and fun, though the button press timing isn't as unique. Still, it didn’t take away from the unbelievable fun I had with the game. The angle of looking down is such a fun way to present the game, and by the way, the story is hilarious! Great game!
