| Oct 3 04:28:04 | Machine Learning | ♥ 1 | I really like the creative use of backtracking through the level after gaining an upgrade to reach new areas. The puzzles were clever and left me wanting more levels. The platforming did get a bit frustrating at times, and the area right after getting the boots felt nearly impossible. Great game nonetheless! | |
| Oct 3 04:38:44 | 10m 40s | Crazy Ball | ♥ 2 | This has no business being so juicy. It feels really satisfying to play. I feel like the theme could have been integrated into the gameplay somewhat to make it more unique. |
| Oct 4 00:22:48 | 19h 44m | Birdwatching | ♥ 1 | Oh my gosh why are bird names so hard to type lol. I liked the random facts between birds, very charming educational game. |
| Oct 4 00:30:39 | 7m 51s | Shuffle Hustle | ♥ 3 | Very creative concept! You should really add a leaderboard. That would really boost the competitiveness. |
| Oct 4 00:37:47 | 7m 08s | 10Flap | ♥ 1 | Wow the music is so groovy. I love how well it synchronizes with the visuals and getting to hear the second verse after surviving a wave is so satisfying. I'm not sure if there's a mechanic that I didn't figure out but to me the flapping felt inconsistent. I would sometimes have to press spacebar quite a few times before even taking off from the ground. Not sure if this is a bug or some hidden cooldown. |
| Oct 4 00:47:36 | 9m 49s | Bug Out | ♥ 2 | Great take on the theme! I feel like shifting the exit every 10 seconds was a bit frustrating though. |
| Oct 4 00:59:22 | 11m 46s | Slime cat! | ♥ 1 | I love the art, music and level design a lot in this one! Only feedback is the movement speed as others have said, and a reset button would have been helpful on a few levels, but other than that this is a really solid game. |
| Oct 4 01:11:25 | 12m 03s | Cute Little Spider | ♥ 1 | Wow I had to double check this wasn't a jam game. The visuals and audio are so high quality for compo. |
| Oct 4 02:26:46 | 1h 15m | The Internship | ♥ 1 | The art and atmosphere is just top tier. I really liked it overall. |
| Oct 4 02:54:07 | 27m 21s | Time Surge 3: A Giant Leap Too Far | ♥ 0 | Wow this was way longer than I expected any jam game to be! Some of the puzzles were really well thought out and stumped me for a good while. Excelent job! |
| Oct 4 03:08:39 | 14m 32s | Choo Choo Crossing | ♥ 3 | Just wow. This has got to be the most complete and polished Ludum Dare game I've ever played. It really felt like a level of a fully released indie game. The art and visual design is amazing and the music fit perfectly. Absolute 10/10 entry. |
| Oct 4 03:43:58 | 35m 19s | Beardadette and the Eternal Hiccup | ♥ 3 | I really like the art style and sounds the character makes. I did have a lot of trouble figuring out the puzzles. It always felt like I had to cheese them or I just had to happen to get lucky with the timing. I ended up getting stumped by the puzzle with the two lizards and the pillar that goes up. No idea if its just about timing your hiccups to line up with theirs? |
| Oct 4 03:50:19 | 6m 21s | 10 Second Testing | ♥ 1 | It funny. |
| Oct 4 04:45:21 | 55m 02s | Snowy-Drive | ♥ 1 | I really like this take on the theme! Really neat seeing the concept of windshield visibility applied to 2D. Also I was able to embed my PICO-8 game fine on the Ludum Dare website so I don't think it should have any issues with blacklisted calls. You may have put your html file inside a folder inside the zip which would keep the site from finding it. The html file needs to be at the root of the zip file and not inside a nested folder. |
| Oct 4 05:04:35 | 19m 14s | Stoked | ♥ 1 | Very good atmosphere. The art, story, and sounds are all simple but effective. Gives me Journey/Monument Valley vibes! |
| Oct 4 18:11:39 | 13h 07m | Cold Coffee in 10… | ♥ 1 | Amazingly polished for a compo entry. It’s very simple but addictive and feels complete in every way. Definitely my favorite compo entry so far! |
| Oct 5 03:05:25 | 8h 53m | Tecton Inc. | ♥ 1 | Really creative idea! The core loop is solid and the game feel is really polished. The lava is great and isn't an effect I've really seen much in pico-8. I definitely feel like taking a look at the source code to see how you pulled it off. |
| Oct 6 00:21:46 | 21h 16m | Hourglass | ♥ 1 | Good concept. I feel like it could be explored more if the game was developed further. The 10 seconds aspect does a good job at sticking to the theme but doesn't really have any function as it could just be an instant button press. |
| Oct 6 00:40:40 | 18m 54s | Swamp Wizard and the Fight for Wizard Swamp | ♥ 2 | I love the classic adobe flash game vibes this game is giving me, even the music reminds me of old web games. Simple gameplay but great mood. |
| Oct 6 00:51:42 | 11m 02s | Potat-OS | ♥ 3 | Very creative set of minigames! The overall vibe is on point and funny. It did take me a bit to realize the arrow keys move the champagne bottle until I saw the gifs below on the itch.io page. Those gifs really help if someone is stuck. |
| Oct 6 01:02:15 | 10m 33s | It's balling time | ♥ 1 | Neat take on Arkanoid. The random modifiers all felt great although I wish gravity had just a little less gravity so it could still go higher. I think adding a very small window of slow motion when the modifier changes would give the player time to react especially when it changes to the fast version. |
| Oct 6 01:09:27 | 7m 12s | Microgame Mayhem | ♥ 1 | Excellent interpretation of the mini game formula. The juice in each of them really makes the game and the transitions feel so good. I only wish there were more minigames. |
| Oct 6 01:20:55 | 11m 28s | Sub-scured | ♥ 2 | I know the whole concept of sonar in games isn't anything new, but the way you implemented it here is so new and original. The way the terrain goes from blocky to triangular when you get really close just blows my mind. The music is nice too, I happened to get a collectible right as the beat drop so it felt great lol. |
| Oct 6 02:05:21 | 44m 26s | Anxiety | ♥ 1 | Wow what an eerie but atmospheric game. Very artistic both not just in the art itself but the story. The world portayed is disturbing but intruiging. |
| Oct 6 02:30:13 | 24m 52s | Untitled Cat Game | ♥ 0 | Really fun puzzle concept. I also had trouble realizing you could get out of bed diagonally but after that the puzzles were smooth from there. |
| Oct 7 19:35:06 | 41h 04m | Hostile Climate | ♥ 1 | I think graphics and game feel wise this is super solid and you definitely nailed how to implement good game feel in Pico 8. The UI feels especially slick for a Pico 8 game. I agree that deaths can feel pretty sudden and unfair but knowing the upcoming event would have gone a long way. Oversights like that happen a lot in compo and doesn’t detract too much from the core experience. And if you ever want to take the game further you’ll already know what works and what doesn’t. |
| Oct 7 23:47:51 | 4h 12m | Dodge48 | ♥ 1 | Really unique take on dodgeball! I really like the ability to slingshot the balls around using the dash key. Seems like it could have a really high skill ceiling once two players really get competitive into it. |
| Oct 8 00:01:51 | 14m 00s | Bug Zapper | ♥ 1 | What a unique idea. The core gameplay is solid and it gets really hectic trying to find all the targeted bees in time. I think the difficulty curve as the waves go up was a bit inconsistent, some of them being way too easy too far into the game. I think the hitboxes could also be bigger to put more focus on visually identifying the targets instead of having precise aim. |
| Oct 8 00:09:52 | 8m 01s | Atomic Finder System | ♥ 1 | I really like how the matching system works. I didn't get it until I read the hint on the page but after that I started getting into the groove. |
| Oct 8 00:30:18 | 20m 26s | The Ariadaeus Run | ♥ 1 | Nice and simple arcady game! Dodging the lasers is definitely the best part. It's challenging but once you get the timing down its satisfying. Not to mention you still have to keep your eyes on the road so that you don't hit a rock when you boost. |
| Oct 8 00:45:13 | 14m 55s | 10 Seconds To Avoid Death | ♥ 1 | This says a lot about society. Truly one of the games of all time. In all seriousness great job on the voice acting and funny vibes of the game. |
| Oct 8 01:08:24 | 23m 11s | Cursed Kingdom | ♥ 1 | Really fun puzzle game. Some of them were pretty challenging and I did get stuck on a later puzzle, but they're definitely really well designed and made me go "aha" whenever I solved them. |
| Oct 8 01:57:50 | 49m 26s | 1000 Meters to Shade | ♥ 1 | The graphical style really makes this. I've never really seen anything like it before. Very creative! |
| Oct 8 02:06:58 | 9m 08s | 10 Seconds, 9 Lives | ♥ 4 | Very nice implementation of the mini-game format. I especially liked how the rocks minigame gives you a heads up when one is about to fall. |
| Oct 9 17:02:04 | 38h 55m | Groceries Please! | ♥ 2 | Really charming entry. I enjoyed the story and the gameplay was very fun. I love how rage inducing the customers can be. I had a customer walk in, spill a drink, and immediately get mad I wasn't at the counter while I was cleaning it up. |
| Oct 10 23:18:21 | 30h 16m | Geometrical Clock | ♥ 2 | The bullet patterns were very nice and didn't feel unfair. Sometimes the color changes would make it really hard to see the bullets and overall strained my eyes a bit. Not really a factor on the gameplay but the shooting sound is kind of ear piercing. Overall its a good, fun entry. |
| Oct 10 23:25:33 | 7m 12s | The Hardly Fair | ♥ 2 | Great take on the "10 second minigame" concept and good creepy/humorous atmosphere. I encountered a bug though where the pop-up mini games would take a good while to load when the timer started, sometimes giving me only 3 seconds to solve them. |
| Oct 10 23:49:50 | 24m 17s | Tenjutsu | ♥ 2 | Top notch art and presentation. I had to double check this wasn't a jam entry. Overall the gameplay feels solid and the enemy variety is really great. I found the kill marks system to be a little more frustrating than it needs to be. Losing unused killmarks between each timer loop felt really unsatisfying. It might have also been better to never waste killmarks on a bigger enemy until you have enough to kill them completely. Other than that this is an extremely well polished compo entry. |
| Oct 11 00:08:09 | 18m 19s | Residence Among The Stars | ♥ 1 | Great graphics and I like the visibility mechanic of having to hide in the shadows. I'm not sure if its just me but the difficulty is really high. I tried over and over but couldn't get very far. The visibility cones are so high that the robot from the next room would always notice me. I really liked the gameplay and wish I could make it further into the game. |
| Oct 11 00:43:26 | 35m 17s | ITTTNOALTSFATWWAMPTJBANCKSUE10S! | ♥ 1 | Very unique and interesting entry. I actually enjoyed listening to the lecture story. I agree that there should have been more feedback on serving the customers though. |
| Oct 11 03:20:53 | 2h 37m | Rush Hour | ♥ 1 | Really nice art! It was just the right amount of stress trying to count up all the ingredients. The only feedback is that its hard to keep up with the number of customers and they just continue to pile up. |
| Oct 11 03:59:51 | 38m 58s | Spacemine Defense | ♥ 1 | Wow that was really great. I'm not usually in to strategy games but I really like factory builders and this seemed like the perfect blend of both. I can't think of any problems with the game at all. It really felt like a fully realized game, complete with even a leaderboard. |
| Oct 11 17:11:41 | 13h 11m | DRILL BILL | ♥ 2 | Really well thought out and polished entry. The core mechanic of the game was very thoroughly explored and some of the puzzles really surprised me in the ways they utilized the color mechanic. The sheer number of levels is also not something I see often in game jams. I do feel like the first half of levels were much more thought out than the second half though. It felt like the difficulty increase between each level rose at a steady rate, but at a certain point the levels started to feel more like bonus levels. Not really a bad problem to have in a jam game though, usually its more common to have too few levels in a puzzle game. Overall a really clever and polished entry that I could easily see being turned into a much larger game. |
