(Loved it <3. Controls are very sensitive though. Kept seeming dying at the last level for no reason until I realized that the boss was spawning on top of me XP.)
I like this one! The cat is cute and the 'wall stick' maneuver feels satisfying to execute. Seconding that the controls feel very sensitive, especially in the air -- it's easy to mess things up by just nudging a box over a tiny bit or something without meaning to, especially if you just jumped off a wall or something. (Also this might just be me but the boss's hitbox in the last level felt a tad unfair :stuck_out_tongue:)
I like what you did with "every 10 seconds," you got a lot of mileage out of it, with the spikes that go on and off and the white blocks that disappear. I especially liked the 'puzzle' level where you had to let the box drop down onto the other box once the 10-second interval hit, that was cool.
Cat's movement animation looks very polished! But the movement controls, as others said, are sensitive. Overall a fun experience!
I think a good addition to this game is a level restart button.
(Sorry for double comment)
You had me at "Cat"!! I just had to come by and I must say I adore your slimey feline friend ᓚᘏᗢ The graphics are simple and consistent, I love the animation and particles effects you added! The music only compliments this and really sets the mood for the overal vibe you're going for!
The last level was real a real treat. The music was amazingly done (good job LightningSplash!) I liked that the walls changed their color to white for this room as well. It indicated to me that it was going to be different. Unfortunately the boss really values their personal space and gobbles me up if I get within 5 ft. within it, which had lead to most of my deaths being by not moving at the very start of the boss run (;´д`)ゞ
When I am running away from the boss the game starts to feel kind of like a side-scroller. In this type of level I'll usually be running and only really stopping to grab a collectable. But there's this one box near the end that forces the player to get out of their flow of going fast (see image). Screenshot 2022-10-03 113259.png I had to make an effort to stop here each time and then instantly speed away from the enemy. There are other ways to add difficulty to a level without forcing the player to get out of their flow.
But for a game made in under 48 hours, it's well done! So good job, I look forward to seeing more of your work. ♪(´▽`)
fanstastic game, one of the few games I genuinely wanted to finish and had fun playing, great mechanics, cute art, cuter cat!
@zubi thank you so much! This is actually my first time making a platformer so level design isn't my strong suit so i really appreciate the amazing feedback ^w^
@cassowary thank you for your kind comment :D the controls are sensitive by choice as i was trying to mimic a light gooey creature! Tho i did think it was a bit to sensitive myself
Took me a few tries to get used to the controls but after that it was fun to play!
Although sensitive cat movement made me annoyed, it is a very polished game. The minimalistic graphics I'd see in the CGA days are perfect for my taste. This white cat that is made of a few pixels is very cute and lovely.
Interesting game, played many times.
I love the cat animations, this game is really fun. Well done.
My main gripe with the game was the fast movement speed, which while it's not an issue by itself, I feel it doesn't really mix well with the friction-y weight-y type of movement when decelerating or falling especially, in a game like this where precise input is required. Some of the other issues like the boss' hitbox have already been mentioned in previous comments I liked everything else though: art, music, kitty. The walljump is cool, and I feel like you could make some interesting levels designed around it, should you choose to expand on the game in the future.
Game was a ton of fun! Real hard, but the cute slime cat and the music made up for the frustration haha
nice game :D is there a way to restart a level?
The game is pretty hard but he still have a part of fun and the art is really cute :D + 1 for the music !
Very cute game! Kept seeing your game on the front page and was very excited to finally play it. Super cute art, like the music a lot too! Great job!
I love the art, music and level design a lot in this one! Only feedback is the movement speed as others have said, and a reset button would have been helpful on a few levels, but other than that this is a really solid game.
@velaachlorine yes Im new to making a platformer style game (more a top down kinda dev) Although the friction is hard on porpose i do realize now its way to slippery if that makes sense
i now know for next time ^v^
Super cute, and definitely enough challenge to keep me engaged!
Duck loves cat, duck doesnt like to wait 5 seconds every time he restart last level. good game
The little kitty is adorable! Wall climbing feels surprisingly great and it fits well with the slime cat. The art style is simple but complete.
The control is smooth, though the movement of the cat was a little too fast and it was extremely hard to reduce momentum mid-air, which caused me to run into spikes from times to times. The gameplay could have been better if there was some minor adjustments.
Nice entry after all!
pretty fun platformer, as others have said the movement is kinda slippery though thats kinda to be expected since the cat is actually made of slime. you also shouldnt sell yourself short by calling the game short, there was quite a large amount and variety of gameplay here for a jam game.
I feel the theme was a bit against the pacing of the game, I felt myself waiting for several seconds to be able to continue only to die and wait again in the same spot. That said, the cat animations and feeling is very nice, and the art though simple worked nicely. Good entry!
Very good game! The slimey cat animations are adorable, the controls feel challenging and fun, and the music is super catchy.
It was really hard :D I loved how the physics of the characters were made, really fited the title, haha. The music was nice as well. Very cool entry!
Did feel the slimyness of the cat~ I finished it under 5mins. Would be nice to have coyote Jump to help players buffer that input and reaction. Cute Catty!!
I wanted to like this game, I like the art and cats will almost always get me. However, the controls are WAY too damn sensitive to the point where you feel like you have none. The levels are well designed, but the sticky walls, the boxes that move at a baby's breath, the hit-or-miss jumping, and the random death panes from getting what seems to be random locations away from the boss make more than half the deaths feel un-earned and unfair. BTW, you can fall out of the world at many locations and soft lock the game, which is triply annoying because not only do you have to restart the level, you have to restart the game, and there is no quit button (ALT+F4 should never be the only way to exit a game).
All that being said, once again, it looks very nice and the music is good, and on a lighter note, it is far from the worst platformer I have ever played.
@infinitycore senstive on porpose! its a slime cat hehe
and its a rage game as said at the start althought ty for the amazing feedback :)
It's really a cute game!! Almost all assets are made by your self! coooool! The gameplay is not that innovation but the level is great! Not hard. If the jump input could be saved then the hand feeling will be better! Just as @zubi said, the box in final boss level is wield.
I actually really love the movement controls. They're a bit weird, and take some getting used to, but it's responsive and snappy, and most importantly: Consistent. On the final level, I had some weird issues with invisible platforms that let me sort of cheese the level a tad. Art is great and really cute. There's a few gripes I had with the level design in some parts though: There are some areas where it's easy to mess up and then have to wait out the timer for a reset; adding in a room reset button would fix this. There's also a couple spots where you just kinda feel like you're just waiting for a while. Also making it more clear the boss was popping out. All in all, I think it's pretty good, just needs some minor tweaks. Also a quit button.
Really nice game! The graphics are nice and the cat slime looks really cute ^^ I would make the slime stop more instantaneously. Also the last level had a very different flow that the others. I pushed through to see if there would be something else, but it was not that fun compared to the other levels. You could also add a ceiling to the first level, since you can scale the walls andjump out of bounds ;) All in all you did a really good job on thins one :)
