An excellent puzzle game. The rules are simple, but flexible enough to create satisfactory levels. Superb.

Hello! The game is really cool I loved it.

prologi 2022-10-04 23:35

This is so good! Very polished nice puzzle. I really liked it! Thank you for that masterpiece!

merlinperlin 2022-10-05 11:38

got stuck at this game for a lot of time, so much fun, great game, well done

puhan 2022-10-06 07:33

How does this game so little ratings, it got superior quality for a jam game, love almost every aspect of it!

oakhardt 2022-10-06 14:34

Really cool game! Felt pretty polished.

This is one of the coolest games I've played on the LD51. The idea is a very original mix of various styles of games. I insist on playing to the end.

Very well polished. Music, art, gameplay. Everything fits perfectly.

I didn't find any bugs.

Really excellent work!

Nice! Claimed a high enough spot in both the leaderboards for now. 🎉 drillbill.png

At first I thought that it wouldn't really work as a score game but after few runs, it did trick my lizard brain to getting addicted on claiming a higher and higher spot on there. Still don't really fully understand how the scoring really works. The combo doesn't really seem to play a big role in how much you score but it might be speed instead. Dunno really. Well, don't die at least, that much I got.

The controls leave a bit more to be desired. The character just felt kinda stiff and too jerky on those platforming sections. Especially so if you had to shoot the at the same time like on the second to last level. Those two lava jumping levels were also quite big run killers for this exact reason. Very nice to see multiple different schemes supported though.

Loved all the little flourishes! Very nice attention to detail. Like the bounce of the clock and the fail crusher or something like animating the background based on player movement which made it feel a lot more interesting and dynamic. Even the score UI had a nice "glowing" animation which didn't go unnoticed. The pixel art was nice as well, weirdly the player character was the graphical element in the game given the least love. Even though all the other nice details were indeed nice, the player character should really be given at least the same treatment. That's where the player is mainly focusing anyway.

Very nice touch as well to represent the "current" color on the background pipes. Even though basically you really had to memorize the whole pattern before starting even.

The music was great and fitting, the sound effects served their purpose well enough too, didn't get repetitive or annoying at all even with how many times I did play it.

Other big run ender for me at least was the shooting "accuracy". It just didn't feel fair to pretty much see the sight connect when you're shooting just to realize that you're barely scraping the wall. Especially didn't feel great when you had to do those lava shots and only noticed way later on that you missed when you weren't even looking at it. Just kinda feels unfair. Even though it isn't really. 🤷‍♀️

Some of the levels were annoyingly tight and had practically no room for error. I'm mainly looking at you level 29. It also felt bad when time was up and you just froze in place waiting for the crusher. Having been able to still move and sometimes making it barely before the thing hit you would have felt amazing. Wouldn't have changed the gameplay or balancing at all, just how the player would feel near the end of the timer.

As it was a score based game where you need to replay loads, would have made sense to have a restart button. When fully score chasing and messing up even once, it meant a full restart. And it was super demoralizing when I restarted via full page refresh, started a new run and only after getting over half way done flawlessly to realize that I was on casual.

Good job! 👍

Overall

Very polished brick-breaking platformer shooter with excellent music.

Fun

Really enjoyed the combined puzzle + platformer aspect of the game. I think the controls worked very well and everything felt good with regard to shooting and moving in the game. It was also fun to kind of "think-through" the level before you started, trying to map out where and when you needed to shoot each color of blocks.

Innovation

Fairly innovative, level based platformers aren't anything new, but doing a sequenced color block puzzle was something I hadn't seen before. I also think the setting of a steampunk temple security system was unique as well, I don't think I've seen that before!

Theme

Good use of the theme. Solving a level in 10 seconds is one of the main "types" of games that came out of this theme and I think this game did it very well. I think the looming threat of the giant spring, and timer was a good way to keep the theme a clear focus of the game.

Graphics

Fantastic graphics, probably one of the best I've seen so far. The characters, levels, UI, lighting and effects were all wonderfully detailed and polished. Even the "outside of the level" background looked great. The animations were very well done too, I would say visually this game is ready for release.

Audio

Great music. I love the electronic soundtrack and the music composition was really enjoyable. Sound effects in general were good, though I don't recall hearing any sounds for moving / jumping I may have just missed it due to the music. I would suggest having either a different instrument in the same melody to change it up between levels, or a few different songs to cycle through to break up the monotony of the song though.

Thanks for showing this to me on [stream](https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1618839154)! A really cool twitch puzzle game.

Some more visual cues to show that you're running out of time would be handy.

I really enjoyed the puzzles and found them challenging but possible. Well done!

I beat it on casual! The art is very good, and I really liked the visuals and the level transitions. I did have more trouble with the platforming than I liked and dreaded any level with precision jumping. I think I would often slide off into the lava, or when double jumping just miss the platforms by a little bit (probably by hitting the wall). I really like how you can see the level before you started and you could plan your route though, I enjoyed the levels where you had to figure out the correct order to shoot or to go the most. Great job!

amarokczukay 2022-10-09 12:27

woooow this game is EXTREMELY polished! incredible job on everything! the concept is great, puzzles are good, it's nice to be able to analyse the situation before each level.

it looked that sometimes i wasn't able to perform a double jump, and that led me to losing the level. but apart from that, as i said before, game is incredibly polished!

yanrishatum 2022-10-09 17:20

Surprisingly fun to play. Giving player time to consider how to solve the level was a very nice touch, compare to just throwing player into the level with no preparation. Making it work as both a minor puzzle (what and in which order to shoot) and an action-platformer. Also I suck at precision platformers. Hate the damn lava levels. The clock animation progressing in a stepped manner felt a tad distracting, however. Personally would prefer it to just move smoothly.

Overall it's quite polished gameplay-wise and fun to play.

mtabasco 2022-10-10 14:21

Very smart game and original idea, one of my favorites so far! I love how the game mixes puzzles with action-platformer mechanics. The audio is top-level and the graphics are great too. Perhaps the platforming sections were a bit too difficult, but I appreciate that levels start paused so you can think about your path beforehand.

Really good job, congratulations!

serxiolas 2022-10-10 22:46

Very interesting mechanic: a fun combination of hability, platformer, puzzle, SimonSaysLike, shooter and maybe I forger another genre XD

tuile 2022-10-11 16:00

A 10/10 entry. The tutorial is the most immersive one that I've seen this jam, and the art had me wowing the whole time. This is the level we (at least I) aspire to get to. Enjoyed the progression of how the mechanics develop, and it was a joy to play.

Thanks for making and sharing this!

pianoman373 2022-10-11 17:11

Really well thought out and polished entry. The core mechanic of the game was very thoroughly explored and some of the puzzles really surprised me in the ways they utilized the color mechanic. The sheer number of levels is also not something I see often in game jams. I do feel like the first half of levels were much more thought out than the second half though. It felt like the difficulty increase between each level rose at a steady rate, but at a certain point the levels started to feel more like bonus levels. Not really a bad problem to have in a jam game though, usually its more common to have too few levels in a puzzle game.

Overall a really clever and polished entry that I could easily see being turned into a much larger game.

rincs 2022-10-13 17:21

It's crazy that this game is a jam game! It's so well-polished! I'd love more levels!! I got pretty stressed, but still fun!

tarnop 2022-10-13 21:28

Insane levels of polish for a jam game. Great feedback, sounds, effects. Really solid work here, congrats

glaciereclipse 2022-10-14 17:08

Wow such a well polished and interesting puzzle platformer game, I got 37,330 in casual mode. I liked it all, the level design was really great juggling between puzzle oriented to more platforming to just plain fun seeing the blocks break, just a really well thought design I really enjoyed it! The audio and graphics were amazing and it just felt really fun to play. Overall an amazing entry, Well done!
