Jan 9 05:18:06 Real Harvest or not??? ♥ 2 Great job on your first Ludum Dare! The art style and player animations look really nice. I think the interact button would have been more convenient on a mouse button though.
Jan 9 05:27:44 9m 38s Barn Game ♥ 2 Great idea about moving the barn around to protect it! The potatoes attacks are perfectly suited for this mechanic. My scarecrow ended up dying way more than the barn though. I kind of wished the scarecrow had infinite health and all you had to protect is the barn.
Jan 9 05:46:21 18m 37s Pomodoro Panic ♥ 1 Wow this was super fun to play. Level 4 took me a few tries before I narrowly made it. I can't see how level 5 could be possible. It was so difficult. The frantic gameplay was very fun and addictive though. I really liked trying to figure out ways to go faster.
Jan 9 18:36:46 12h 50m Moon 2023 ♥ 1 Simple and well executed! I liked being able to swing by each harvester to collect resources quickly. The breaking mechanic was also a great idea. I only wish there was more content!
Jan 9 18:48:02 11m 16s Last Harvest ♥ 1 I really like this concept. Really creative take on the theme, and well executed. My only issue was that the difficulty was far too low and the game ends too soon. I was able to win a match without placing any turrets at all which doesn't seem right. I think all it needs is a higher number of watergrass that you need to collect to win. I would really love to see an expanded version of this with more levels and higher difficulty.
Jan 9 18:59:32 11m 30s The Circular Reaper ♥ 1 I really like this idea, nice way to shake up the bullet-hell genre. I agree that more feedback when hit would have been nice. And maybe a different button to harvest instead of pressing E, or just have harvesting be automatic. The tutorial was really well done and not something most people have time for in a compo. Well done!
Jan 9 20:31:21 1h 31m Harvest Tataki - Whac-a-carrot ♥ 1 I really love the amount of polish you put into this game! The title screen intro is especially slick. I was only able to make it to 49 points. It really does get hard near the end!
Jan 10 01:47:19 5h 15m URSA MAIOR ♥ 2 Really cute little game! I haven't really seen a short story game like this in pico 8!
Jan 10 01:57:07 9m 48s Nesting ♥ 1 Really nice movement system! The animation change when you carry too much was a nice touch. Just wish there was something to signal that you beat the game. I was kind of confused at the end.
Jan 10 02:08:46 11m 39s Power Spud Harvest ♥ 0 Cool little game! I thought it was funny how the music stopped whenever the player did.
Jan 10 02:21:49 13m 03s 'Arr-vest ♥ 1 The cannon upgrades are my favorite part. You could have just made them shoot more in the same direction, but the different spread patterns make shooting interesting. The number of enemies got chaotic really quick but I was able to make it to 68 kills before dying. My only main complaint is the camera is a bit dizzying and an audio bug caused the music to keep restarting every time I shot. Other than that, pretty fun entry!
Jan 10 06:41:57 4h 20m Agent 001 ♥ 1 Ooh I'm a sucker for these 3D pixel art games. I absolutely love the aesthetic. The weapon modification feature was cool but never felt entirely needed. It just felt a bit tedious swapping out components. I really like the idea though and hope it gets expanded.
Jan 10 07:07:01 25m 04s Adelie - Water Under the Bridge ♥ 1 Really great job on the art! The title screen and the intro cutscenes are all great especially for being in pico 8. The gameplay was straightforward although definitely pretty unforgiving.
Jan 11 06:03:34 22h 56m HarvesTurnip ♥ 1 Really nice game! The art style and mechanics are great. I like how you were able to achieve such a high skill ceiling with only a few basic mechanics (some of the scores on the leaderboard are insane).
Jan 11 06:25:32 21m 58s Gun Harvester ♥ 1 Great art style are overall game feel. Shooting felt satisfying and the gun upgrades kept me playing for a good while. The mechanic of planting plants you then harvest is a great idea but in practice felt a bit grindy. You can farm roses very easily because of their consistent attack pattern. This combined with the gnomes not being much of a threat made it feel more like a grind to get as many points as possible. Other than that everything else felt really polished and it did manage to keep me hooked for a good while.
Jan 11 06:35:57 10m 25s Grow Golf ♥ 2 Wow this is a really great concept! It's definitely very challenging but addictively so. The art and sound are also really well done and overall feels like a fully polished entry. My only minor nitpick is how hard it is to get a good match rolling. It might have been easier to start with more than one golf ball. Or maybe have that as a difficulty option.
Jan 12 03:16:42 20h 40m Druid's House ♥ 1 Wow I'm really impressed at how addictive this game becomes once you learn it. I really like figuring out different ways to move to maximize the scythe damages. Getting more and more overpowered also felt great. The only issue is that the early game when you have only one scythe isn't quite as fun. The enemies feel like they have way too much health for one scythe to manage. After getting the second scythe everything is fine, but that took me a couple tries to get to. Overall I think getting the second scythe is the point where the game gets really really good and it should be a bit quicker to get.
Jan 12 03:31:39 14m 57s Cake Sweeper ♥ 1 As others have said the art is great. It did seem hard initially but lining all the cakes up and pushing them all off the edge together made it really easy. The isometric perspective made it hard to tell exactly what tile a cake was on though, and I would frequently miss them or misalign a row of them.
Jan 12 03:48:28 16m 49s Hortirata ♥ 1 This was definitely really hard to wrap my head around. A good tutorial or a better description of the mechanics could probably make it much more manageable.
Jan 12 03:58:58 10m 30s Plantome ♥ 1 Really chill game with a great atmosphere. The mechanics took a little bit to figure out but after that everything was straightforward.
Jan 12 04:06:36 7m 38s Thrown Harvest (for LD52) ♥ 1 Nice concept! It's pretty straightforward and was simple to understand. The only thing that took time to figure out was needing to press up arrow to throw. I was thinking it would just be spacebar.
Jan 14 02:35:38 46h 29m Space Harvester ♥ 3 The movement combined with the goal of slingshotting around the planets is really satisfying and fun. I found the enemies a bit too difficult to fight though. I eventually figured out that you can let them chase you, slow down and flip around to shoot them which felt super fun and satisfying. The only problem is it only takes one missed shot and its over. I think if the player had more health it could let them figure out this srategy of fighting the enemies.
Jan 14 02:46:21 10m 43s Inked Garden ♥ 0 Wow the animations on the character attacks are so well done! The scythe harvest animation is just amazing. Good presentation and pacing overall. The only part I felt was a bit clumsy were the attacks themselves. Felt a bit weird having them lock you in place.
Jan 14 02:55:15 8m 54s THE HARVESTING ♥ 0 Really fun reversal of the common tropes of this theme. Overall an enjoyable little wave shooter. The movement mechanic, when used right, really adds to the experience and feels like much more than a gimmick. There are a few bits of information in the game that are hidden from the player though that probably shouldn't be. Namely the cooldown for moving again, and how strong an enemy is. Enemies seem to have random amounts of health and some visual way to distinguish a 3-hit enemy from a 2-hit enemy would be great.
Jan 15 06:42:57 27h 47m Big Aussie Harvest ♥ 2 Of all the things I was expecting to see this jam, Australian Outer Wilds was definitely not one of them.... Very surreal and humorous. I'm definitely impressed with how this was pulled off in 72 hours. I was able to beat the game, the only trouble I had was figuring out how to fly the motorcycle. The directions the keys move you just seemed to not line up with where they should be sometimes. Overall very funny and bizarre.
Jan 16 18:59:53 36h 16m DeadLyft ♥ 3 I really enjoyed the writing in this. Some pretty emotional stuff learning more and more about Mike and seeing him realize he's dead at the end was really well done.
Jan 17 03:05:55 8h 06m Super Plant Farm ♥ 1 Really great job on the effects and overall feel of the game! Everything feels really satisfying overall and the gun variety is really great.
Jan 18 02:07:07 23h 01m Strange Garden ♥ 1 Really innovative idea! And great effects and music! The visuals and feel of the game seem as complete as they could be. Really impressive for a compo game. It did take me a few tries to realize that "next to" meant the 8 nearest tiles instead of 4. After that I was able to understand the strategy much better.
Jan 18 02:41:33 34m 26s It was all for the Tuna ♥ 2 Really top notch art direction! Everything just felt really consistent and cozy. The reeling mechanic might be the best I've seen in a game but it was only used to its full extent in the early game. Big fishes were unintuitively the easiest because you can get right up next to them and catch them instantly. I would have liked to see the upgrades compliment the reeling system rather than giving speed boosts which lets you cheese around it. Besides that , the gameplay really had me hooked (pun intended) until getting to the end.
