| May 1 04:51:39 | The Pigeon Post Principle | ♥ 11 | Screenshot 2023-04-30 234735.png That was tough! I was able to make it through every level though with some persistence. Every level felt really well thought out. I was surprised none of them felt like throwaway levels which is very common in LD puzzle games. The music is probably some of the best I've ever heard in a LD entry. While I was playing I was thinking to myself "Wait, does this music ever loop?" | |
| May 1 05:43:54 | 52m 15s | Space Delivery | ♥ 1 | Great game! I liked how delivering in the wrong order was allowed but just cost you points. I think the skill ceiling could be raised a lot by adding a line showing the initial trajectory (not any of the bounces though). The shape of the ships matching up with the package order was a really neat attention to detail too. |
| May 1 06:02:29 | 18m 35s | Cassie The Carrier Pidgeon | ♥ 4 | I really got hooked to the core game loop. I was able to make it to 1039 points with autofire and I think 6 fire rate upgrades. At first I thought it was a bug that such insane numbers of enemies spawn at the edge of the map but once I grinded enough upgrades I was able to push closer to the edge and complete those hard delivery routes. I really liked the sense of progression gained from getting closer to the world edge. |
| May 1 06:22:22 | 19m 53s | Seedling | ♥ 1 | Very relaxing gameplay. I felt like I could just chill playing this for a good while. I was able to get all the upgrades and made it to about 47,000km. I really wanted to see how high you could go. I think the birds make falling back down more of a waiting game. I'm not sure why you collide with them going down but not up. The intro cinematic combined with the music was really well done too. |
| May 1 17:22:20 | 10h 59m | LD53: House Delivery! | ♥ 2 | Nice aesthetic! Really fun but simple gameplay too. I do wish the difficulty increased more as time goes on though. Definitely a chrome dinosaur sort of game. |
| May 1 17:32:28 | 10m 08s | Crystallium | ♥ 4 | Nice game! I liked the incorporation of the crystal drop-off system and the score being on the car itself. It did take me a while to piece together how it all worked though. Some more feedback when you gather/drop-off crystals could have helped or some tutorial hints. |
| May 1 17:41:58 | 9m 30s | Mt. Deliverest | ♥ 11 | I really like the climbing mechanic a lot in this. I think a game like this could benefit much more from pre-made levels though. The random placements were sometimes borderline impossible to traverse. The falling rocks could also have a bit more of a warning window. They always took me out in the end. |
| May 1 17:58:12 | 16m 14s | Bundle Dumper: Florida Edition | ♥ 2 | Lol the random Florida theme makes this hilarious. The way the alligators just swoop in just looks comical to me. The gameplay is absolutely tough as nails though. I really struggled just to get to level 4. Great job on your first Pico-8 entry! |
| May 1 21:21:49 | 3h 23m | Elite Delivery. Pizza Dangerous | ♥ 1 | I really like the fancy almost 3d effects you pulled off in Pico 8! The gameplay hook was really nice and the shooting mechanism was a unique take to prevent mindless button mashing. The only part I had trouble understanding was the range at which you’re too close to the planet to continue delivering pizza. It felt way too soon and for a while I thought some other mechanic was prematurely ending the round. Other than that it’s a solid little infinite arcade game. |
| May 2 03:24:56 | 6h 03m | Freight and Furious | ♥ 1 | Wow this gets super chaotic super fast, and that's a good thing. The rails adjusting to your input is honestly a really novel approach. |
| May 2 03:55:36 | 30m 40s | Pack It Up | ♥ 11 | You guys should absolutely publish this as a mobile game. The control scheme is perfect for it. The art and animations were 10/10, I especially liked the particle effect when you jump, it just was so well animated. My only bit of feedback is that these particular sorts of wall jumps with spikes on the walls felt unfairly hard compared to the much better feeling platforming in the rest of the levels. Lining up the jump height perfectly with them was more trial and error than anything. Screenshot 2023-05-01 225341.png Overall an excellent concept and execution I would love to see turned into a full game on mobile. |
| May 2 04:12:26 | 16m 50s | Machine Meltdown | ♥ 1 | A nice bossfight! And the story setup was really high quality and humorous. I played on a controller so no complaints with the controls. I think taking damage from just touching the boss didn't feel quite right. It did pad out the difficulty enough to take me many attempts to finally beat though. The overall aesthetic and art is all really top notch! |
| May 2 04:48:26 | 36m 00s | demaker.s game | ♥ 1 | This is an incredibly original concept! I think gameplay improvements can be made as others have said but the core idea and aesthetic is really something special! |
| May 2 04:57:10 | 8m 44s | Octo Arms Deliverance | ♥ 1 | Really stylish aesthetic! The whole octopus thing with being able to hold lots of guns is a great concept. I don't really understand why there are invisible walls though. That was really the only issue I ran into. Other than that, great entry! |
| May 2 05:10:48 | 13m 38s | Isles Express | ♥ 1 | Great job on your first Pico-8 game! I can't really think of any flaws with this one. It accomplishes exactly what it set out to do. It's extremely difficult but that definitely seems to be the intention. It's cool how with enough practice I was really able to develop much better control of the movement. |
| May 2 05:22:31 | 11m 43s | IceCream Van | ♥ 1 | Another charming and straightforward Pico-8 game! Gameplay wise it's simple and accomplishes exactly what it intends to. The water effect is really awesome too. |
| May 2 17:28:34 | 12h 06m | Time for Lunch | ♥ 1 | Such a unique spin on platforming having to protect the basket! Just the right amount of difficulty and a cutely animated owl! |
| May 2 18:02:41 | 34m 07s | PARCEL ROCKET | ♥ 1 | It took a bit to get used to but after lots of practice, the drone controls actually become really enjoyable! I agree with the other comments that the lighting is too dark. It actually took me quite some time to realize there's more stuff up above. I just kept delivering to the first green pad and thought that was it but I'm glad there was more! |
| May 3 17:38:59 | 23h 36m | 30 Minutes Or Your Potion's Free | ♥ 1 | I really liked this! My only feedback is that the game itself needs more feedback to make it more clear what's going on. Early on it was hard to visualize what everything was doing and the enemy moves in particular. Since this is a compo game though I totally understand there wasn't any time for that. The card synergies felt really well thought out and coming up with a deck to beat the final enemy was really fun. He seemed almost unfair at first since he doesn't ever have resting turns but it made figuring out a strategy much more fun. Here's the deck I used in the end. My strategy was to sacrifice health on the first few turns in order to draw lots of cards and build up mana. Once I had enough cards, I kept using lightning strike, channel and preparation to keep the king permanently stun-locked Screenshot 2023-05-03 123802.png Overall I really enjoyed the strategy in this! |
| May 4 17:24:27 | 23h 45m | Deliver the Cube | ♥ 1 | A really innovative idea! I really think you should take it further. I really love factory-builder games and having a factory builder where you make a travelling factory is a super cool concept. The only part that made getting started confusing was the use of conduits. I think just having a global energy pool for the entire cube might have been more intuitive. |
| May 4 17:34:18 | 9m 51s | Stork Exchange | ♥ 1 | Cool concept. The momentum when you drop the baby added a bit of challenge. My only feedback is that it's too common to get a pattern that there isn't a house for. |
| May 8 17:15:50 | 95h 41m | The Envelope | ♥ 2 | I think you definitely succeeded with the atmosphere. I was actually pretty spooked the whole time. The dialogue was a bit longer than it needed to be, and the mechanic of hitting the monster felt a bit clunky but that's all understandable for a 3D compo game. Overall great job especially for a compo game! |
| May 8 17:30:16 | 14m 26s | Pixel Stranding | ♥ 0 | Works pretty well as a rage game actually! I was able to make it to level 5 before giving up. |
| May 8 17:41:25 | 11m 09s | Delivery Witch | ♥ 1 | Congrats on your first game jam! The solution to the puzzle is pretty clever and I definitely could have seen the mechanic being expanded on if you had more time. Good job and jiji! |
| May 9 02:08:06 | 8h 26m | Spirit Mail | ♥ 1 | Definitely the best art I've seen in a compo. I have no idea how you made it all from scratch in such a short time. Really impressive! |
