LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Dimensions by Tarcisiotm 2021-04-27T20:22:41Z

Looks good and feels good to play. While the graphics could use some more variety, they do their job and look good as they are. I like the dimensions mechanic, and I can see some very cool puzzles being made with it. Together with an original interpretation of the theme, a good entry, with great potential for expanding.

Rocket Philosophy by Cambryx 2021-04-27T16:05:44Z

A simple concept yet executed extremely well and very fun to play. I like the extra challenge the remote destruction of blocks poses. Overall great game.

Beans in space!! by INCD021 2021-04-29T21:03:36Z

I like the retro feel of the graphics and audio, its simple but I find it looks good. Overall its fun to play and I the puzzles are good, though reverting to the start of the level instead of the beginning would have been nice, perhaps with a score reduction to balance it. I also liked how all mechanics are explained to the player through level design instead of an explicit tutorial.

Coffin Drop by cdunham 2021-04-28T06:18:29Z

I agree with previous commenters on the controls, but other than that it seems well polished. I like the concept and I think it has a lot of potential.

Veiled Depth by zchangvx 2021-04-28T20:09:15Z

Awesome atmosphere, both graphics and sounds are excellent. Superb entry.

Gloomby's Misadventure by don.shinski 2021-04-28T15:55:17Z

The idea seems cool, but I find the controls somewhat clunky. I also do not know what the green spheres do, some additional explanation would have been nice. With some more polish I think this could become a very good game.

Crumbling Caves by Andreas Roschal 2021-04-27T15:29:47Z

Overall, a good game with a solid concept. The graphics are good and have a consistent aesthetic, and the sounds compliment that well. I liked the concept of building a level for yourself, although the collapsing of the mine seemed a bit arbitrary at times, maybe a 5- or 10 second countdown would help?

Final point, the button to continue from the instructions screen is a bit non-obvious, with the player focusing on the rest of the UI closer to the center of the screen (though it might just be me). Perhaps having it pulse like the button in the construction screen would help?

Drill goes brrrr! by BOOtak 2021-04-27T20:30:50Z

good overall, I like the graphics. While it is effective at keeping the player engaged, the main gameplay loop is somewhat repetitive and could use some additional complexity. Still, good entry.

Who runs the world? by Vladimir Smolin 2021-04-27T17:00:44Z

While the concept is good, I feel that the mechanics are too simplistic. Furthermore, I was somewhat confused what I am supposed to do at first, a tutorial would help.

Sergei the Salvager by kankje 2021-04-27T16:32:14Z

Overall a good game, love the atmosphere. The graphics are a bit simple, but the audio really sells it. Maybe add some extra details to the seafloor? Great twist as well.

The Deep North by buckmeister 2021-04-27T15:56:56Z

Cool game, a solid foundation you could expand a lot on. On the level design, I would suggest some form of path to give the player a direction to go in, since you cannot see the whole area you are in at once. I found myself walking along the edges of the map trying to find the last group of enemies.

Speaking of the enemies, they tend to group up, allowing the player to fight an arbitrary number of them as if it was a single enemy. Ranged enemies could help with this, or having the current ones try to surround the player once the get close enough.

Overall though, the aesthetic is great and, together with the audio, creates a great atmosphere.

Substrate Mining Co. by Steve Dragon 2021-04-27T16:46:32Z

I'm glad so many people are enjoying the story!

@jes-draws We were thinking about multiple endings but unfortunately time put a stop to that.

Elevator Goes Up? by Generic Games 2021-04-27T20:51:04Z

I agree on the height being used as money being confusing, but it was fine once I figured it out. Certainly an original take on the clicker genre, and overall a good submission.

Afraid to Turn by rhoff95 2021-04-28T20:20:01Z

Nice art, and good audio. Sets the mood really well. The gameplay is simple but effective, and I enjoyed it.

Mandragorae Somnus by Victor Andrade 2021-04-27T20:40:52Z

Overall very good, both the graphics and sound fit very well and the whole game has a good atmosphere. I agree that using the scroll wheel for control is a good idea, but otherwise nothing to complain about.

50 Step Treasure Hunt by Not_AS_Artistic 2021-04-28T15:44:05Z

I like the main mechanic, though I feel like some more complex puzzles would have made the game more engaging. Overall a good entry though!

The Unbeaten Path by Alyson Betz 2021-04-27T20:14:58Z

While the concept is good, I feel like you ran out of time making it. The art looks good but the lack of lighting breaks the feeling of being in a forest, and no goal is set out. The game ended somewhat arbitrarily, if its a time-based ending then a countdown would have been nice. I like the interpretation of the theme, but the forest is too sparse and homogenous to give a feeling of going deeper.

However, its not bad for a first attempt and with more experience I'm sure you could make some very good games.

Dwarven Depths by steelax 2021-04-27T15:43:33Z

Great graphics, the levels are well designed and although the second one is a bit dark, there are enough lights to allow the player to know where they are. I do agree that the hammer could use some more force behind it though, and possibly more sound effects.

Finally, the inertia in the controls took a bit of getting used to, but it was fine after a while.

Dangerous Depths by Mololo 2021-04-27T06:18:14Z

Overall, great first attempt. I like the models and the sounds, though I also think the uniform 2D background is somewhat bland, especially given the more detailed models in front of it.
