The game is pretty addicting, except that if you're not careful enough, the progression might stop and you'll be left with no fuel and no money. Pretty good overall though.
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD48 → Drill goes brrrr!

Very nice gameloop and a strong entry. I also already like how it looks (even though it was supposed to be temporary).
charming, is there sound? sometimes occasionally there's some sfx, but for the most part it's silent. maybe reduce the fuel cost a bit, a lot of trips are spent just selling enough minerals to refuel. I like it!
What's better to just sit and relax while drilling?
The controls could be a little better and it's a little buggy, like it's easy to get softlocked, but knowing that this is a compo game you understand that there is no time to improve the game more.
Felt very polished and well made! Love the nice simplistic art style. Gameplay was enjoyable and causal, but a tad bit tedious. Regardless it's a great submission, especially for a compo!

This game reminds me of those upgrade based flash games from back in the day, in a good way. Maybe adding some kind of (another?) sense of urgency could elevate the game even further. With games like this I also love feeling like at the beginning I can't do much and by the end I can do so much more. Even with the first fuel tank upgrade I already got this feeling a little bit. Well done!
good overall, I like the graphics. While it is effective at keeping the player engaged, the main gameplay loop is somewhat repetitive and could use some additional complexity. Still, good entry.
Fun game, I would love some sounds or music but still feels nice.
@pizzart64 Thank you a lot! I was hoping to create something engaging, and I'm happy that you find it so. I wish I could spend my time more effectively and have some left to implement proper Game Over screen
I liked the resistance of heavier metals, makes it feel good to mine the good stuff andd actually made it feel like drilling. Art looked good. Nice job, thanks
It's really nice, ended up playing for a little while. I think the fuel needs to be a little cheaper, every time I bought fuel I barely had anything left, so it took a long time to be able to get later upgrades!
@poorwill Thanks! That's the greatness of pixel graphics: it looks visually appealing with less time spent on it.
@robochase6000 thanks! Yeah, fuel could be cheaper. That's not a problem later in game, but I can see how that could be annoying at the start.
@magna thank you for a feedback! TIL the world "softlock". I can't think of any additional gameplay detail to fix this. Can you suggest something?
@luke-frisbee Thank you! Oh I wish I could make it more addictive so people would try to dig **deeper** to discover that the game has some more content to it :) Probably, "Drill the **worlds** beneath" (in bold) was not enough :)
Dug so deep the game crashed, 10/10, played this one for awhile lol
@trei oh yes! I was trying to imitate something like that, I'm happy that you appreciated it!
@romanempire Thank you! The thing is that this game **has** more complexity to it, I wish it could lure players to dig a bit **deeper** :)
Don't know why but the game is pretty additive great job ! The shop is a little confusing with all theses button, but the tooltip is very helpful.
Maybe a little repetitive but it's very relaxing. I liked it
when I first started, was thinking oh I know this game this is familiar so what. Then ended up playing like 40 minutes just drilling and drilling and drilling. I think you have captured some system that works really well. And even without the music, though I would appreciate some :) Good job man!
@pawciu thank you! One day. One day I will have time left, and skill present to compose soundtrack or tweak sound generators randomly to produce some SFX.
under_under_under_world.PNG Fun game! Reminded me of MotherLoad. I enjoyed making my drill more and more powerful, and eventually I got to the point where I could just dig straight down: refilling fuel at the start of each new level with whatever I collected while digging through the previous one. I think that it would have been nice if there was an "ending" of some sort, but overall I enjoyed my time with this game!
I think I made it to under under under under under underworld, I'm sure it continues further, but I should probably get back to work. The game loop is really well developed! I'd love to see it with music or sound effects. Overall awesome compo entry!
Started playing, suddenly it's an hour later. Good work.
Nicely done! And getting something finished in a Compo is an achievement in itself!
I had to stop myself playing this - this is the kind of game I could spend hours playing. The design is really tight and the progression very nicely tuned. I liked the graphics of the ores and the hidden kind of old-school shading. Constructive feedback-wise, I managed to got to a state where I ran out of money and could only wonder around, where there could be some mechanism to stop this. I think the drill and shop graphic could be improved, and some game juice could have been added. This has helped me in the past youtube watch?v=Fy0aCDmgnxg
Great work on this one :)
Fun little game - I missed sounds though. great work on finishing it for the compo!
Made it to the under under under under under under under under under underworld.
A nice simple game, nothing mindblowing but very enjoyable. The only thing I was kinda left wanting was sounds in the game, there seem to only be sounds in the menu.
Yeah, this was a time warp. Nicely done. I wanted to buy everything, though I didn't notice much difference between the upgrades.
Ten lines of under. TIME WELL SPENT, you monster.
Really, really fun game, I spent like an hour playing it! The gameplay is very compelling, it would have been cool to see new ores popping up in the underworlds. I kept going hoping for an ending but eventually realized it was infinite after the under under under under under under under under under under under under underworld. Very nice and impressive for the compo!
I really like the dirt graphics! Digging is fun but some simple audio effects when digging and picking up resources would do a lot for the general feel of the game.
