LD54 — Limited Space

Actionmart at the Awesomemart: Starring Action Matt by MrTroy 2023-10-16T00:43:57Z

Nice survival game! I liked the PA system for funny hints about the resources. The mouse wasn't always easy to use to aim correctly, especially when zombies come up close or on the edge of the room where the camera doesn't center Action Matt. Maybe a laser line effect showing where bullets will go could make it easier.

Prisoner 32 by commanderstitch 2023-10-13T21:48:25Z

Loved the chaos and silliness of a gunfight in such a colorful crowded room. Jumping was pretty useful for dodging, at least at the start. Difficulty was not too easy but I was able to win after a few tries. Watching the command line output alongside the main game window was a nice bonus as well.

How many sheep can you fit? by Yngvarr 2023-10-13T21:59:54Z

Fun and cute game! Love the low-poly models and music/sound effects. In my playthrough, I ended up mostly being in the bottom part of the map where the camera is a static wide shot rather than elsewhere where it is dynamic and more interesting. Maybe would be nice to shrink the static area or have other views to pick from manually.

This Robot Wizard Game Is Taking Too Much Disk Space! by jandourek 2023-10-15T21:04:56Z

Love the concept of this game! Kind of awkward to switch windows between game and file explorer, but fun puzzles and build around a solid & aesthetically nice platformer.

Kefnac, the Word Grid Game by Greytyphoon 2023-10-13T20:58:15Z

I enjoyed your game! Some tricky moments to find something that fits but never got stuck; felt like there is strategic play and not just luck. I like the unique "color the grid" goal for something like this too. Lots of potential!

Loot Goblin by Tudvari 2023-10-13T21:38:28Z

Nice game! Aesthetics were pleasing, though I wish I could see little icons for all the items. I ended up taking a pretty greedy approach to the strategy, which was to use potions to tank the extra damage from weight so I can just maximize gold/weight ratio of items. I like the idea of risk-reward idea of weight causing issues but maybe a more complex system is needed to encourage varied strategies. I only needed to replay level 3 once to get enough gold to buy the potions I needed to beat the game, so I felt like the balance was good.

Cavin' by Daxtear 2023-10-13T21:20:50Z

Nice game! Movement felt good and wall kicks were fun to use. Cutscenes and dialogs were great and worth looking forward to when rescuing a new character. The cave was a bit large to navigate, maybe if there were some landmarks or color variation or pickups/enemies to clear out then it would be easier to remember where I'd been and where to explore later.

Metagirls by MetaGen 2023-10-13T21:07:44Z

Fun game! Second character was hard to use since the rings are easy to miss/lose visually in the bullets, but first character felt like a nice balance of challenge. The game put a surprising amount of strain on my decent graphics card, maybe worth looking into potential performance or GPU resource usage issues.

ROLLiE and the Desert Drive by civmaniac 2023-10-16T01:38:28Z

Love everything about your game! Fun, cute, silly, and strategic with lots of possibilities. Most UI improvements I would suggest are in the post-jam version, so good job on that! It would be nice to visually clarify which program goes first (yours or enemy's) when they both end on the same square in the timeline.

Awesome Spaceship Dude! by BangKerpow 2023-10-03T01:52:49Z

Very awesome indeed! I had lots of fun building an epic ship. Not sure if it is intentional, but I found out you can split the ship into parts by dragging away a ship hull piece in the middle of the current ship and the attached guns will still fire, letting you set up little floating turrets around the map! They get kind of buggy to drag but could be a good feature with polish!

First Day Working at Freedomsoft Ltd. by kirsybuu 2023-10-03T21:43:22Z

Thanks for the feedback so far! I agree there should have been indicators and/or tutorials for interactions, sorry for anyone who didn't chat with the characters on their first playthrough! The broken elevator is the end, sadly I ran out of time to make a boss encounter. I would definitely address both of these in a potential expanded post-jam version.

First Day Working at Freedomsoft Ltd. by kirsybuu 2023-10-10T02:49:19Z

Thanks for playing everyone and glad to hear your enjoyment!

@bangkerpow I appreciate the playthrough, and sorry the tables weren't graphically different. I didn't see you chat with the characters either; it should have been clear in-game that it is possible. If you haven't yet, consider replaying and interacting with everyone!

First Day Working at Freedomsoft Ltd. by kirsybuu 2023-10-17T18:47:02Z

Thanks for the continued feedback! I have added a note to the description about the abrupt ending for future players.

SlimeTastic! by Alpha Wolf Studios 2023-10-14T03:05:32Z

Interesting idea and artistically well done, but like others had no idea about the controls or combination mechanics. Beyond text or a tutorial, an indicator of selecting a slime would be nice. It's also not clear what the goal is, I guess just to not fill the grid all the way? I beat level 2 by doing nothing, so maybe needs some balancing too.

Pickle Packer by Tiseno 2023-10-15T19:33:58Z

Enjoyable game, very good fit with the theme as the room fills quickly with pickles. Kind of odd how every jar costs $15 but some are so small you can only fit like $6 worth of pickles; I could see it being fun to add multiple size options to pick from of different costs which might be more useful in different situations. I see a lot of potential!

Unlimited MACE by Yoss III 2023-10-19T02:12:18Z

Fun hectic game, once you get a feel for the controls. It seemed like the spin was pretty overpowered compared to trying to manually swing the mace using physics, could be fun to balance things so that is a more viable strategy.

Space Ltd. by Jon Curtin 2023-10-15T19:54:10Z

Fun game! I appreciated the tutorial and enjoyed controlling the ship. I didn't notice the asteroids reacting to the tractor beam enough to cause me problems, but they did get in the way enough on their own to be a nice challenge.

Reborn----I am the king of APP by Saumon 2023-10-16T04:54:08Z

I like the concept. As others said, it would be nice if the info about an app was presented in one place with clearer explanations about their purpose. Sadly never got to see new apps get installed, I was efficient with my space until I overshot and got a game over.

LD55 — Summoning

Fire Festival by commanderstitch 2024-04-18T01:21:06Z

Unique font and art style! Took a few tries but I became a winner for real(?) with score 5632542. Not sure if there is a good strategy but I think most of the sheep got eaten before they could reach the farmhouse anyway... those wolves track you well and are hard to hit/defeat.

Whip it up! by recursiveanomaly 2024-04-19T22:35:41Z

I had a pleasant time playing your game! Might be nice if there was some sort of mini reward for completing a recipe, like a bigger/animated artistic rendering of the dish or flavor text about the food or person summoning it.

To do magic, please dance by Yngvarr 2024-04-18T04:06:14Z

I'm not usually into rhythm games but I found yours approachable with a nice music track. I didn't notice there was no penalty for mashing, like others said, so I beat it fair & square and didn't have much trouble. The hit detection seems very forgiving if you press the button late but not early, which wasn't expected. Also wish there was more time to watch the animations rather than the arrows! Could be fun to add bonuses for success streaks or something as well. Good job!

Race to Kaiju by binroot 2024-04-19T22:01:36Z

Nice game! Simple mechanics but surprisingly deep strategic thinking with the cannons, limited connections, and ship stealing. Music was also a big plus for me. I could see this being a fun 2-player game too.

The ultimate Cup Of Coffee - Summoning The Barista by INCD021 2024-04-18T02:58:02Z

Nice game! Puzzle was not too hard but not glaringly obvious, and nice calm coffee-shop feel with the music and art. I liked it a latte!

Treant Wars by Tudvari 2024-04-19T21:04:20Z

Well done on this game! Almost perfect balance of moments where I feel like I'm gonna lose but then barely making it with clever planting, treant summoning, and some luck. Last level I would have lost but the boss got softlocked chasing a spreader-derived treant that accidentally spawned in the wall so I was able to use ranged units to finish it off safely.

Also I did have a similar issue to @ntimi. If you are currently in the planting mode and then click the treant button (or use the hotkey) then it changes the mode but doesn't put the icon under the mouse cursor.

Help of the Cthulhu by Jiri Hysek 2024-04-19T21:28:23Z

Let me say I enjoyed your game! All aspects came together well, especially the Cthulhu. Curiously I found each puzzle a bit easier than the previous one; I think the first one did a good job teaching the basics and then the rest gave some approachable challenges of those skills.

TrollDoom by Milestone Games 2024-04-18T00:56:09Z

Enjoyed the spell mechanics and atmosphere! Extra challenging because my mouse cursor drifted downwards whenever I was using the drum, and when I first used a new spell the game lags for a few seconds -- maybe because I tried playing in Firefox? It would also be nice if the cursor was automatically centered on the drum when you open it so you can start tracing the pattern right away. Still, very impressed with it overall!

Cutie Oh! by kirsybuu 2024-04-19T05:43:20Z

@binroot Glad you liked the camera angles and music! More actions per turn could be nice if balanced well, I agree.

@lelek-hunor-kadosa Thanks! I'm not very practiced at drawing but I'm happy how they turned out too.

@wakobu Yeah I suppose that is a pretty good strategy! I would definitely want to do more work improving the balance and giving more complexity to the card mechanics so hopefully it wouldn't be too easy.

@timidger Happy for the detailed comment! Sorry about the confirm button and lack of opponent message. My original idea was to have the text next to the table be a log with a confirm button in the 3D world somewhere below visually but I didn't get around to adding that complexity. I like your idea of changing the view for animations. My goal was to let you see all the cards easily in case they were too hard to read and so my high-res art for both players' cards can be seen more up-close. Never heard of Gemusetto Machu Picchu but glad you liked it!

@balimaarthebassfish That is another good strategy, as long as you can win that race! Glad you enjoyed my game.

@tudvari It was tricky and I had to scope back my ideas for the cards a lot, but happy you liked it.

Familiar Quest by BalimaarTheBassFish 2024-04-18T03:35:13Z

Lovely game! The art, music, and writing all came together very well, making it worth playing again to see alternate endings. I got a ghost whale my first time, but then I got fire elemental twice in a row! Chaotic choices have the same ends sometimes I suppose. I see lots of pun-tential for a bigger game with different scenarios, choices, and summoned familiars, maybe even continuing the quest after you get your first familiar (?!).

LD57 — Depths

Dig to the Earth's Core by kirsybuu 2025-04-08T05:09:48Z

@welshdivision Thanks! Spam buying is a valid strategy, but it does mean the shop should stick closely to the initial distribution of upgrades since you aren't being selective. You can try other strategies that shift the distribution by showing a preference and see if it'll give you a faster journey to the core (or not!).

Also, I did intentionally shy away from compacting the numbers since I didn't want the focus of the game to be on doing careful calculations, rather on the spectacle of big numbers and quick decisions. I also wanted to show off my hard work on a custom big integer class powering everything! Either way, I would consider adding it as an optional setting in the future.

@andrewkennedy Glad you had fun! That is good progress but the numbers do keep getting a lot bigger if you want to try to reach the bottom of the depths...
