I managed to enter the altar but didn't understand what to do

sariiger 2024-04-15 20:34

Neat little puzzle game and funny ending! Hope your wife also enjoyed the game! :)

incd021 2024-04-16 11:55

@xahon the alter is the last place to visit. It's a puzzle game so go explore the town for clues  figure out what coffee to buy and where to place them. But thanks for giving it a shot. @sariiger Thanks for playing  Glad you were able to finish the game! I wasn't sure I had put in all the clues needed to solve the puzzle.

xahon 2024-04-16 13:51

@incd021 oh, I got it, I should just press return key when came to a house. Last time I played I was just walking around and nothing happened

incd021 2024-04-16 16:26

@xahon the controls might not be optimal. But I do hope you can use all keys works as intended. Thanks for giving it another try.

qubit 2024-04-16 20:39

Neat puzzle game! There was just enough information to piece together the correct solution, but not so much as to make it obvious. Love the concept.

Btw, disagree on the Latte being the ultimate cup of Joe ;)

commanderstitch 2024-04-17 03:39

Wow. interesting map with little houses and a giant circle. I really gave it all my all. I just couldn't understand how a few statements made by little coffee shops explained which coffee to buy or which placements in the circle they would occupy. The math didn't let me understand how the numbers were to line up and the line about assembling using the first letters wasn't able to make it anything other than 'magic' but there wasn't enough money to make up the the letters hehehe. Maybe I just thought about it too much. nice work.

incd021 2024-04-17 14:03

@qubit Thank you so much for playing, and validating that the puzzle can be solved with the information provided. The Latte.. Was meant to be a joke  That's why I tried to make the "a Latte" part of the line, small and inferior, compared to the rest of the line. But then again I don't drink coffee, and know nothing about coffee, so I guess that for some a Latte IS the Ultimate cup? Thanks for playing

tudvari 2024-04-17 14:07

Well, I tried my best but I think I need some help ^^ I only know the hint regarding the Americano. Everything else is total blank for me. :D Thanks in advance! :)

incd021 2024-04-17 14:11

@commanderstitch First, thanks for playing and giving it your all! 😊 It sounds like you were VERY close to solving it, with only one clue missed. It's my first try at making a puzzle game like this, and I didn't want to make the clues too obvious. However, for a small game jam game, they might be too subtle, as people won't spend much time contemplating which information is relevant and which is not. Thanks for playing! 😊

incd021 2024-04-17 14:54

@tudvari First, thanks for playing and giving it your best! As I mentioned to @commanderstitch It’s my first try at making a puzzle game like this, and I didn’t want to make the clues too obvious. I was thinking about making the hints/relevant text, a different color, but I that would have made the game way to easy. But that might have been OK for a jam game. Did you get both the Americano hints? 1st, that's it's relevant, 2nd it's placement. I don't know it you got both. trying not to spoil anything for anyone else

Thanks for playing! 😊

tudvari 2024-04-17 15:19

@incd021 Okay, I'll give it another try and if I fail again, I'll PM you at Discord, how about this? :)

zirrrus 2024-04-17 16:12

Neat! Took me some tries to find the actual arrangement, but I liked the clues. It was obscure enough to produce an Eureka-moment for me when I figured it out.

jhax 2024-04-17 17:38

I'm glad I tried again after reading the comments and realising the shopkeepers were giving you clues. Good fun trying to puzzle it all out once I was starting down that path!

fabula-rasa 2024-04-17 19:52

The ending made me literally laugh out loud. I LOVE coffee, but latte... latte is not coffee  And the voiceover - superb!

The puzzle was amusing and enjoyable to solve, even though on the easy side. If you just start by going to all the shopkeepers and seeing what they have to say in order, the solution is right there. Still, I had fun playing, it's a neat combo project, but definitely not my favorite game of yours (that 'honor' goes to the 'Last Trip of the Monorail' and 'Triangles...').

The graphics here are kinda jarring. The color choices make everything seems a bit muddy and dull, instead of warm, earthy and inviting like a good cup of coffee  Would definitely be better off with some beige-coffee color scheme.

All works well and I didn't meet any bugs. Cool! I had just enough money in my pocket to summon the barista - how fortuitous

incd021 2024-04-17 21:32

@zirrrus So glad you figured it out  And enjoyed playing it. Thanks for playing

incd021 2024-04-17 21:34

@jhax I thought it was very obvious that the clues was given in the shops as they are the only once giving any info in the game. But I see it's not obvious to everyone. Thanks for playing and for the comment, thanks.

incd021 2024-04-17 21:40

@fabula-rasa Glad it made you laugh, and glad you got that Latte was meant as a joke. The graphics.. yes.. What can I say.. and you mention the "color choices", not really choices, more random than anything. Guess I'm just glad you liked some of my older games. I could give you 100 excuses, only one valid one was I've been sick since Thursday, so haven't delivered anything near what I could have. But I don't think the graphics would have been that much better. I just not good at graphics unless it's cold sterile squares.. THAT I can do.

Thanks for the feedback and for playing, thanks

jhax 2024-04-17 22:46

@INCD021 I think it's just a bad habit of slightly glazing over when reading merchant text in video games generally :stuck_out_tongue:

kirsybuu 2024-04-18 02:58

Nice game! Puzzle was not too hard but not glaringly obvious, and nice calm coffee-shop feel with the music and art. I liked it a latte!

balimaarthebassfish 2024-04-18 06:18

This puzzle game is fun! By piecing together three key clues, I was able to crack the puzzle and breeze through the rest of the challenges. The gameplay was straightforward yet engaging, and I had a blast solving it. A neat little game that brought a smile to my face!

frank-gevaerts 2024-04-19 20:37

It took me way too long to figure out that a pentagram has its own order and is not a circle! I guess I should have had coffee *before* trying this :)

A nice puzzle! The one thing I kept bumping into is that I kept pressing escape to get back to the map screen, and that's not how it works...

incd021 2024-04-20 08:51

@frank-gevaerts I did think about the ESC key, and it actual started out taking you to the map, but changed it to info screen, thinking it would always help you. But I myself still press ESC to get "back". You are the 3rd that got stuck with the circle instead of the pentagram. Maybe I shouldn't have the circle in the graphics. Thanks for the feedback and playing

incd021 2024-04-20 08:54

@balimaarthebassfish Thanks for playing  I'm very happy to hear that the game is "easy" in some players eyes. I was starting to think it was way too hard.

incd021 2024-04-20 09:06

@kirsybuu Thanks for the feedback and for playing, thanks

balimaarthebassfish 2024-04-20 10:07

@incd021 for me there were enough clues and half hints. the fellow who gave the hint about the lines and the other with the word basically told me most of what I needed to know. I did feel good about solving it as, despite being a D&D DM and am constantly setting puzzles/traps, I struggle to solve anything :D

fractal 2024-04-20 11:54

Pretty difficult for me, but after reading some of the comments here I figured it out :) The "it goes down from here" clue was a bit confusing as it doesn’t actually go down.

jiri-hysek 2024-04-20 14:02

I did it! I was confused at first but then I read I needed to search for clues. And suddenly it started making sense and it was fun! I needed a couple of tries placing coffees in the correct order but the clue was clear (I just ignored it at first :) And the ending was hilarious :)

yngvarr 2024-04-20 20:53

I laughed so hard at the ending, holy cow! XD

I've never made a puzzle game, but in the TTRPG world there is a saying that if you want players to actually solve a puzzle, make it a more obvious than you think is too much. And then, a little bit more obvious. Still not obvious enough... a bit more... here... That's better, right! Keep going... Yes, like this. Nice.

!> Maybe, it's only me, but it took long enough to guess the right word alone. It took me extra effort to get that the correct order of letters is based on a star shape and then a little extra push for noticing that I got it backwards. Really got my cogs turning, which I appreciate, but may be too much for a game jam.

That said, I enjoyed this little adventure. Voice acting is hilarious, writing is clever and music didn't make me want to turn it off. :) And by the way, I've noticed that our games fit each other perfectly! XD

incd021 2024-04-21 17:26

@fractal ā€œit goes down from hereā€ it should go down from there? From the top down along the line and not clock wise as so many tries (yes I should have removed the circle). Thanks for playing and the feedback

incd021 2024-04-21 17:33

@yngvarr @jiri-hysek So glad you enjoyed the game  I forgot all about a winning state, so it was added very late, but glad I did. People seem to like it. Tho' not all agree the Latte is the ultimate cop of coffee. (It was just what my mind came up with when making the recording... I know NOTHING about coffee! Please don't tell Phil!... I'm happy you both solved the puzzle in the end. Thank you for playing

frank-gevaerts 2024-04-21 18:22

@incd021 I'd sat the circle instead of the pentagram is user error. The lines are right there! :)

incd021 2024-04-21 18:29

@frank-gevaerts I know, but so many only sees the circle. Maybe just chop up the circle?

pawciu 2024-04-29 15:39

Yaay I did it

dyingwolfwood 2024-04-29 19:28

Wow. That probably took me way longer than it should have! I figured the word out pretty quickly, and of course I had one letter locked into place from the hints, but sheesh did I spend far too much time trying to figure out the order. Reading some of the comments here I see I am not the only one, so that's good. :)

incd021 2024-04-29 19:42

@pawciu Thanks for playing and rating

incd021 2024-04-29 19:45

@dyingwolfwood thanks for playing. I see a few having everything right except they follow the circle and not the pentagram. It's something I would change if I would ever open then game-code again (not very likely!) Glad you did figure it out  I would like to play your game but, I'm on PopOS (Linux), and it looks like you only have a windows version. So, sorry but I can' play or rate you game. :~(

dyingwolfwood 2024-04-30 00:09

No worries, sorry we didn't get to release a linux version. We're new to Godot, so still learning. :)

incd021 2024-04-30 06:54

@dyingwolfwood I'm also new to Godot. I did figure out how to make release for windows and Linux. But as I'm using Godot 4.x and C#, sadly there are no web version yet. I do hope this is something they figure out how to fix soon :crossed
