LD46 — Keep it alive

Protect It by Laaph 2020-04-22T21:36:08Z

Pretty tough game, but it never got that frustrating, which is a hard balance to strike. I wish you got a second longer in the beginning of the level to get into position - the main part I didn't like was that you had to be holding down the correct arrow buttons right at the start of the level and didn't have much time to adjust. Overall though, successful game!

Will of the Wisp by johnfn 2020-05-11T18:20:20Z

Hey @fabula-rasa ! Did you try pressing X instead of Space? A few users have reported the same issue, which stemmed from our slightly strange control mappings... We realize they're not the most obvious, something we're hoping to fix in future versions.

Will of the Wisp by johnfn 2020-05-11T18:25:42Z

@archimagus Thank you so much for the comment! We actually felt the same way about the mushrooms, and implemented chain-bouncing a couple days later.. Unfortunately it didn't make it into the jam. If you're interested in playing that version, though, you can do that here: http://138.197.213.214:3000/

Will of the Wisp by johnfn 2020-05-11T18:40:07Z

Hey @mykola, have you tried pressing X? The controls are a little unintuitive (see my above comment), sorry about that!

Space to Party by Levi 2020-04-22T21:30:33Z

Nice, this game was super fun to play even though I sucked!! I actually loved that the controls were difficult to use - kind of felt like I was a drunk host trying my very best to be a good (not-drunk) host. I think the difficulty should have been ramped up - it felt really hard not only to grab the items, but to find their person afterwards. It would also be nice to have some kind of auditory/visual cue when time starts to run out, like beeping and red flashing on the screen. Also, I think that an arrow that points in the direction of the angry party-goer would be useful, so you don't have to spend most of your time finding them! Overall, it's just little polish things though, I loved it!

The Little Bakery of Horrors by RobotsAndMuffins 2020-05-11T21:14:46Z

One of the better theme interpretations I've seen this jam - nice job! The graphics were perfect and the style was incredibly strong and consistent. With a bit of development, this could be a really addicting resource management tycoon-style game, which I'm a huge fan of. The main suggestion I have is for more feedback - both visual and auditory. It was sometimes a little hard to understand what was going on. Overall, though, amazing work!

LD47 — Stuck in a loop

Do-While-For by primitive-concept 2020-10-13T01:24:03Z

I really liked the sfx and art style. The post processing effects were really well done, too.

Good Morning, Beautiful World by Miyolophone 2020-10-10T00:41:49Z

@crazybot Hey, thank you so much for playing & giving feedback! Just a note - there actually is audio (from the third cinematic onwards), although you might have to refresh your page or play it in a different browser to hear it (Chrome is very particular about auto-playing sound).

Good Morning, Beautiful World by Miyolophone 2020-10-10T23:58:20Z

@justcamh We had a ton of fun watching the stream, thanks so much for playing & giving feedback!! Glad you enjoyed it :D

Aboard by Chris Mulholland 2020-10-10T04:12:59Z

Nice job! I absolutely loved the style of this game. The colors worked really well. I wish it was a little harder though :)

The Witch's Tower by SparklyRainbows 2020-10-09T03:38:21Z

First impressions: The game feels rapid and responsive & the art is really really nice, style is really consistent which is pretty hard to do in 2 days. The only thing that didn't seem to fit as well was the font, but that's pretty easy to switch out. I ran into some bugs with the loops too, but overall the loop overlapping was pretty impressive - kudos. If you guys keep working on this, it would be cool if there was also a mode where the enemies followed the paths :)

Nice job though, gobears!! :bear:

Infinite Dynasty by daidiimon 2020-10-09T03:30:30Z

This is awesome! Felt kinda lost at first and made some ~~questionable~~ decisions, but got the hang of it really quickly. There's one bug I encountered a few times where on the second loop, the "management" UI would disappear and I couldn't figure out how to progress. Would love to see you guys take it even further! Some ideas I had - more map geometry (lakes, rivers, mountains), "smarter" random events (getting 10 soldiers on round one is kinda OP), seasons!

PS: "The citizens grow displeased for some reason, I can't think of anything" is actually golden.

10/10 gobears :bear:

Skicret Agent by SachaWitto 2020-10-09T19:31:56Z

One of my favorite games I've played so far this year, huge kudos!! Everything about this game was simple, clean and effective. I liked the cadence of switching between playing & observing. If you continue working on this game, would love to see things like checkpoints, more slaloms, and the ability to jump/spin/etc through obstacles in the air.

Side note - my favorite thing about this game was the ability to time movement with sound cues. IE: tracking what melody/pitch is being played during the observation phase, and waiting for that to play in the real game before evading something. Would love to see that developed more, I think it's a really rewarding mechanic.

Ghost Jammer by schreibmaschine 2020-10-09T03:45:56Z

Yo this was super nice - it felt really unique. Loved the mix of 2d and 3d graphics, the track that changed color, and the triangulation effect on the screen. Felt a little hard to me but maybe I just suck at these kinds of games. Tbh, how did you guys make this in one weekend????

Oh, and the ghost effect was SICK. Big kudos all around!

Ayy Leon: An Eggistential Crisis by Corrupt Spaghetti 2020-10-10T01:53:35Z

hmm, I wasn't able to go to the city or forest - I feel like I was missing something :(

Pacxit by randomLockNess 2020-10-09T03:51:47Z

Nice job! I felt like the game was a bit hard at first - maybe an intro level where the ghosts spawn one by one would have helped players ramp up to the main level.

Star-Dogged Moon by Ree Rolph 2020-10-10T02:04:34Z

Really unique game - I had a good time playing through it :) Some impressions: - The art was great, and fit the music perfectly. The overall mood of the game was amazing - kudos! - It was strange that the dialogue you chose was repeated on the screen after you clicked on it. It might have felt better without it. - The punctuation/grammar was a bit off sometimes, and sometimes the dialogue was cut off. - It was unclear what was clickable/unclickable, some hover effects might have helped. - Story was really interesting, I wish it was longer :D

Star-Dogged Moon by Ree Rolph 2020-10-10T02:25:35Z

@ree-rolph It was the screen that started with "While we no longer act in support of ..."

The first line ended with "I have a young girl who would" and the second line ended with "You draw your power from".

Yeah, might just be a resolution issue but thought I'd let you guys know.

The Seed by yalynx 2020-10-06T02:12:38Z

It's fairly simple but still fun to play. Just goes to show that you don't need a lot of fancy art, music, etc to make an exciting game. There were a few bugs, mostly regarding collisions, but that's to be expected in a game jam... Nice job overall!! :D

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Far Fetched by johnfn 2021-04-29T16:26:43Z

@juliestrator thank you so much for playing on stream and all of the feedback!! our team watched the vod together afterwards (timezones unfortunately didn't align) and had a ton of fun catJam \o/

we're working on a v2, with some boss hitbox improvements and additional content, it'll probably be on my itch.io soon!

Far Fetched by johnfn 2021-05-01T23:08:10Z

@chrissx2 hey thanks so much for the feedback!! glad you enjoyed it :DD regarding the audio issue, we're aware of it! seems to be a browser-dependent thing, so it only happens in some browsers. we're going to push a fix for this soon! thanks for the feedback on the text bubble clipping, looks like we should be able to fix this with some scaling.

Debate Time by NidzaKornjaca 2021-04-30T01:00:03Z

nice concept!! i feel like executing an abstract idea like this is a lot harder than it looks. especially balancing meme-iness with gameplay. i think some of the timing could have been adjusted - i couldn't tell which person's tweet i was beating up. i also wish your turn automatically ended when you used all your action. but both minor things, nice work overall!

THIEFEUS: Rynth, Repeat by Dorkulon 2021-04-30T01:58:01Z

whoa, this was super polished. i found it a bit confusing at first but as soon as i got the hang of it it became really immersive. the soundtrack was really great too. nice job!

Me:Tree! - New Roots by Groggi 2021-05-01T23:27:59Z

really nice job. games like this remind me that a huge part of art isn't just drawing out hundreds of super detailed assets - it's about the overall colors, theme, animations, and cohesiveness. one suggestion i have is to automatically zoom out as the tree grows bigger so you don't have to scroll up and down to see everything. i also think there's probably a way to make better use of the horizontal space here, given that this game is primarily vertical, but most screens are horizontal. (this could be a good thing - in my opinion, this would make an awesome mobile game) overall though this game is so soothing and beautiful, really enjoyed it, congrats!

Kicks'n'Relics by Valden 2021-04-30T02:10:34Z

those animations were AMAZING, holy shit i have no clue how you did that in one weekend. i loved the backgrounds too, really gave me Journey vibes if you ignored the mummies and literally every other part of the game. i do think the backgrounds and main character clashed a bit stylistically, even though they were both awesome on their own. the fighting felt snappy and good. nice work!

Dream: The Temple Within by dominikscholz 2021-04-30T00:49:55Z

very pretty game! it's like how i imagine minecraft would look if it was made in 2021 instead of 2011. i found it a little too easy to get mobbed and wish the movement system was a little more complex, but overall this game felt really polished and i could really see you guys building something awesome out of it!

Bunny Bunny Dig Dig by ZakAmana 2021-04-28T01:29:53Z

this game is /ridiculously/ polished, holy shit - amazing job getting everything done by yourself in 48 hours. this game is so addicting i could easily see myself sinking 3+ hours in a single session if the mine went a little deeper. that's actually my only piece of criticism - the game feels very short for the amount of progression available via the tech tree. overall though, amazing stuff.

The Life Aquatic by Cary Stanley 2021-04-30T01:47:18Z

this game was pretty fun! the voice acting was a nice touch, although after i stopped finding any fish on my 8th i started to miss it. some encouraging voice line would have been nice. i thought the "crash" sound effect was a little harsh and wish that it was easier to see the direction you were moving in (like if the camera panned to give you room in the direction you're moving in). nice job overall, had a good time playing this.

Asteroid Breaker by GibsS 2021-04-30T01:28:53Z

whoa, I wasn't expecting to like this game as much as I did but I almost couldn't stop playing. there's something about the feeling of jumping around, controlling your momentum, and dodging badbois all to a really soothing soundtrack that was just ... incredibly addicting. did you make the music? i actually thought it looped really well, actually. definitely one of my favorite games from this LD. awesome job!

Derelict Dive by tetrapteryx 2021-04-30T02:24:07Z

beautiful art! everything fit together really nicely and the whole game felt cohesive. the music was a bit repetitive but fit the setting well.

Terminal by Squidsheep 2021-04-30T01:09:59Z

this game looked really polished and cohesive - i especially liked the color palette. i think little things like sound and particle effects would have gone a long way, along with music. pretty amazing job given you only had 48 hours!!

Nostril Navigator by Xenon27 2021-04-27T16:49:08Z

this may be the best take

in the depth of cheese by araz vakili 2021-04-29T01:53:22Z

nice first entry! it would have been cool if the blocks followed the rhythm of the song a bit more (but i found myself following it anyway)

LD49 — Unstable

Jingoku by Skyeward 2021-10-06T00:11:30Z

polish on this is insane, and huge props to whoever designed/implemented that UI! congrats!

Lab Panic! by GibsS 2021-10-05T19:07:37Z

yo nicely done! game feels really complete and polished, and the levels have a nice ramp up in difficulty. i do wish there were a few different hints per level (maybe increasingly obvious) for people like me, who aren't the best puzzlers :) but i still had a lot of fun!

Mars Colony Alpha by Falzock 2021-10-05T19:21:25Z

classic concept and good execution! i do wish it was a bit easier to visualize status of each of the different nodes as well as health of the humans. sometimes i was caught off-guard (but maybe that's part of the difficulty :) ) - anyway great job!

Timmy's Very Bad School Day by Miyolophone 2021-10-04T23:06:34Z

JankenMaho by aaron1_cabj 2021-10-05T19:23:29Z

simple concept but well executed - really love the artwork and punchy animations. nice work team!
