Might want to put the objective, I was not really sure what I was trying to to or find. Can you dig? I loved the music!

Strange. Could you tell me whereabouts you found that you got stuck?

epskampie 2010-12-20 08:27

Awesome! I had a lot of fun figuring out how to play the game at first, and then solving the puzzles.
Very original game mechanic.

epskampie 2010-12-20 08:34

In response to the above: it's a bit silly to have the "bring all of your robots to a checkpoint to activate it" AFTER you actually already managed to do that. :)
This got me stuck on my first attempt, as I marched my first robot to the crystal, then the second, then wondered why it didn't disappear.

This is incredibly well thought-through and well-implemented. My only gripe being that there's no grace period for being out of range, as sometimes deaths in the middle of a complex layout come due to misreading the edge of the light-cone. Death is pretty punishing in fact, and I'm sure there's a way you could make it less so. Which I'd like to see, because this is an excellent idea. It would probably work well for some kind of spelunking with ropes instead of lights too.

I also really liked the aesthetic.

squax 2010-12-20 19:19

Neat. I had a bit of trouble working out what to do at first, but after experimenting I managed to get it. Great stuff. Love the music as well.

eli 2010-12-20 20:41

Really great game. Super consistent, completable, and fun. I did need to read some of these comments in order to not give up, though.

danielzoran 2010-12-20 20:57

Very nice!

ladron 2010-12-20 21:42

Great, well-executed idea!

alexlarioza 2010-12-20 23:05

Wow! This was a brilliant idea.

the-jack 2010-12-21 03:22

I want to eat your brain.

wlovas 2010-12-21 05:46

That penultimate puzzle was a doozy! I agree that the "Bring all robots..." message comes a moment too late. As for the punishing deaths, i found them frustratingly motivating :)

Well done.

wizbane 2010-12-21 06:13

Fantastic execution! Good audio and a really challenging puzzle mechanic. I had a little trouble figuring out what to do at first, and you might want to just get rid of the C key as jump, I hit it a few times on accident and died. Aside from that, I really enjoyed this!

xra 2010-12-21 06:26

solid! I really enjoyed this, my only complaint is the pacing being a bit slow at about half way through, I found myself wondering how far I was. It could be as simple as swapping to an interior section, going into a hole in the background that changes to a narrow stretch of cavern, then exiting out of that back into a new section of open cave, both having their own bgm (like the pipes in super mario bros for example). Another thought for escalation is certain types of moving hazards that can break the energy beam line of sight.

Love the atmosphere in this, although I found myself fumbling with the controls. The robots are really cute.

korywazhere 2010-12-21 14:00

It took me a while to figure out what was going on. Very neat idea. I keep doing stupid stuff and getting killed though ;P

johncolburn 2010-12-21 15:56

Very cool game. As others have mentioned, the controls are a bit odd, but that doesn't stop it from being a lot of fun. The core mechanic is pretty original and used well for satisfying puzzles.

The graphics are limited but used perfectly. I'm rating the graphics very high because many games with flashier graphics do not have the overall artistry seen here. It's not how many pixels you have, it's how you use them.

Some people have said the BGM got old... I didn't feel that way. It's well chosen for the feeling and pacing of the game. A little repetitive, but it's hard to expect a full soundtrack in 48 hours.

Anyway, overall great game. Could be improved in a lot of ways, but it's already impressively complete for 48 hours.

arielsan 2010-12-21 16:30

Great game!! love the music and art style.

plams 2010-12-21 17:49

Very addictive. Kudos! Only missing some save option, like [enter code word] in old games or such.

sos 2010-12-21 18:03

Jumping with C is annoying, but besides that, a one well made game!

excitemike 2010-12-21 21:15

Nice atmosphere! The puzzling was not especially challenging but still kind of fun.

One minor issue I had was that the text about bringing ALL your robots to a checkpoint didn't show up until after I got both of them there, which had me stuck for a while. I also kind of felt like resetting all your robots when you take one out of range was a bit too punishing, but I'm not sure there were any better ways to handle it.

deepnight 2010-12-21 22:38

Wonderful game, I really took lots of pleasure to complete it :)

It took me some time to figure out the "checkpoint validation" thing, maybe missed a message or something...

Good job ! This would deserve a more complete version :)

refrag 2010-12-21 23:55

Really great entry. I loved the core mechanic. One of the most enjoyable titles I've played so far.

entar 2010-12-22 02:02

A little tough, but fun! Good idea, nice music.

starspell 2010-12-22 17:54

Wow this is a really challenging game! I loved the level design and the puzzles. The graphics are alright and the audio is pretty cool. Not sure now I would connect it to the theme but the gameplay makes up for that. XD

starspell 2010-12-22 23:13

I forgot to reiterate what others have already said change the jump button to the Up key please!! C is a really bad choice as that part of the keyboard should only be used for controlling the beam, not movement in general.

brighterorange 2010-12-23 05:14

Loved this one. Very nice idea and execution. Just the right amount of information to figure out what to do. Good music and mood. The biggest frustration was that I would confuse the jump and switch-robots buttons, and it often kills you to press the wrong one. Played through to the end, and it didn't get tiresome. I think both of the last two puzzles can be solved with only three robots, though?

danik 2010-12-27 17:27

Clever game!

localcoder 2010-12-27 22:41

Great music. I enjoyed working out how to play and getting through a few challenges. I didn't finish though.

elbowroom 2010-12-29 00:19

I signed up to comment on this game. (and a few others)
This game is very inspiring. I think it is thematic in its own way and the puzzle style gameplay brought back memories from classics like Lemmings.
I greatly enjoyed completing this mini adventure and found it was balanced and challanging in the right amount to keep you interested without frustrating the player.;)

The level design was superb to flesh out what could be achieved with this concept.

Thank you for an exciting gameplay experience.

endurion 2010-12-31 16:12

Very nice idea!
It feels very solid, albeit quite tough. A grace period would be nice, it's annoying being so close to a checkpoint and just jumping out of a light circle to be sent back.
Other than that nice idea and well designed.

sol_hsa 2010-12-31 20:32

Something about the control scheme was awkward to me, but otherwise - excellent work!

jovoc 2011-01-07 01:43

really nice. Clever, fun to figure out what was going on. It got a little tedious when there were three robots. Nice music and style.

jimlefevre 2011-01-31 14:20

Thoroughly thoroughly enjoyable and well worked out game. I felt very pleased withmyself finishing and would happily pay to play more.
