LD29 — Beneath the Surface

unTouchable by Ekanaut 2014-04-28T03:16:00

Fantastic art, but I can definitely tell that nearly all your effort went into it.

RGB - Beneath the Surface by pixelpun 2014-04-30T02:36:00

Beautiful visuals, decent but floaty controls, but no sound. The last part really killed me, even just some simple ambiance would have made me enjoy it way more. Really fantastic job on the visuals though.

Like a Bird in the Sea by Volute 2014-04-28T21:05:00

Enjoyed exploring underwater. The art style was adorable.

Advanced Cave Crawler by josefnpat 2014-04-30T00:06:00

Reminds me of the old dungeon crawlers. I was sad to find that you couldn't see the monsters and felt like I couldn't really do anything to change the outcome of the fights...

Ground control to major Tomashevsky by drnick 2014-04-28T23:45:00

Nice job. Took me a few tries to not just crash straight into the surface...

Acceptance by zatyka 2014-04-29T03:09:00

Interesting concept. Sweet and concise.

Go Below The Ground by DevWouter 2014-05-03T22:59:00

Entertaining little game. Has some jumping issues when trying to jump on tilted platforms but otherwise didn't have anything a little polish wouldn't fix. Nice job!

Contagion by SeriousCreeper 2014-05-02T23:58:00

Solid roguelike. Liked the consistent graphical style throughout.

Hollow Shell by Moist 2014-04-28T23:01:00

Really nice feel to the shooting. Only issue I had was that I couldn't tell how much damage I had taken/could take before I died.

sirtet by ahnt 2014-05-03T00:01:00

Very interesting idea and a very unique take on the theme. Great job!

Kyle the Caiman in: Kyle's Dreamland by Gravity Games 2014-04-29T03:14:00

I liked the way you handled switching between two worlds, but I was sad at the abrupt end to the game. Oh they joys of limited time :)

GroundBreaker by Figglewatts 2014-05-02T23:37:00

Solid game all around. Had issues getting back into the shop a lot of the time though :(

Gubble Quest by Somfunambulist 2014-04-28T21:48:00

Really cute game. Only thing that bugged me was that all the text was through windows dialogue boxes. Great job!

Village By The Lake by KJScott 2014-04-28T22:49:00

Nice job. Best way to describe the game would probably be a little unsettling. I really liked the little details in the lake world.

The Golden Bean by Greg Power 2014-04-28T04:02:00

Really interesting concept. Took me a little while to get the hang of moving away from enemies by separating myself from the movement (jumping).

Firefish by Snicklodocus 2014-04-29T03:05:00

Really great job! I decided to try and micro all the fish as fast as I could, which quickly made the game very difficult but still very fun! Unique concept, hopefully you'll work on a post-compo version :)

Mine[ing] by MrBlade 2014-04-29T23:06:00

Decent try, keep honing those skills!

Cave Mining by Moochoomon 2014-04-28T23:12:00

Has the feeling of cookie clicker mixed with minecraft. Sprites were really tiny, I feel like they probably would have looked nicer about 2x the size.

Atlantis Explorer by Integershift 2014-04-30T03:18:00

Solid job all around.

The Last Beacon by Katamori 2014-04-29T00:28:00

Really liked the visuals. As other people have mentioned the breaking through blocks took a while and my laser kept seeming to get stuck so I'd have to repeatedly fire it to get through multiple blocks.

The Missing Potato by DragonMaster21 2014-04-30T00:16:00

Probably one of my favorites so far. Nice job with the lighting, and the consistently styled pixel art helped add to the moody aesthetic. Overall great job!

Miner Problem by Zednaut 2014-04-28T23:39:00

Really nice pixel art! I was a little sad there was a time limit because I wanted to explore the level more :(

Pig Cave by isaaccarpenter 2014-05-02T23:29:00

Adorable pigs. The issue I had with playing it for very long was that the game window felt really small.

Sail by DrPrettyPatty 2014-04-28T03:59:00

Reminded me a lot of Legend of Zelda Wind Waker (looks like you emulated the water texture too). Only problem I had was that right click diddn't work so great for the web version as it kept bringing up the browser menu.

Me & My Metal Detector by WeaselZone 2014-04-28T23:04:00

Adorable visuals/audio. They gave the game a really relaxed aesthetic.

Rolly-Polly-29 by benmcnelly 2014-04-29T00:07:00

Thats a pretty sweet MS Paint cookie. Also thanks for messing up my vision for a few minutes with that effect.

John The Miner by iceferret 2014-04-28T03:07:00

Met the lag room as well. Don't really know what was going on in there :(

Onca by cheesepencil 2014-05-02T23:53:00

Very interesting concept. Enjoyed eating little animals :)

The Monastery by petrih 2014-04-29T23:28:00

Great job! Game reminded me of a roguelike version of Might & Magic. Graphics really reminded me of 8 bit rpgs.

Flipper by zed0 2014-04-29T02:59:00

Pretty blatant ripoff of the flash game Dolphin Olympics. Decent job otherwise.

DeepGlow by SzRaPnEL 2014-04-28T21:17:00

Needs a little work on pacing, I felt it went really slow until it almost exploded with activity. Also, I don't think ripping the Metal Gear Solid alert sound effect counts as your own assets :)

Ores! by TinyMeteor 2014-04-29T23:11:00

Decent idea, but the game was a little easy. Also found the shoot sound to be horribly shrill.

Monster Caves by Strandmullen 2014-04-28T21:13:00

Its a decent start to a roguelike, but you really really need some terrain and escape abilities or something. It felt like being thrown into a blender to see how long you can survive without being able to escape from the enemies.

Undermine: A lesson in Middle Management by quantumpotato 2014-04-28T23:51:00

Interesting idea, but I feel like the player that if a player always chooses 6, as long as the other player chooses not 1 a few times, the 6 player will win...

Also had a bunch of the text cut off for me in the web player.

Xen'Juru Adventure by micdoodle8 2014-04-29T04:29:00

Nice job. Major complaint was that the controls felt really floaty. Would've been a little bit hard to deal with if your laser had the same limited range as all the enemies (thankfully it doesn't). Otherwise it was fairly solid!

Deep Maze by hexabeast 2014-04-29T00:16:00

Graphics style was simple but well done. Some sounds/music would've been nice, but otherwise well done!

Effin' Rats by sputnikgames 2014-04-28T03:53:00

It would be an all right peggle clone, but the time it takes for the balls to settle is excruciating.

Cave by fueelin 2014-04-28T23:59:00

Interesting twist on the roguelike genre. I really like having that path showing you the way but letting you explore off of it. Nice job!

When Mutant Cells Attack Melons! by shubshub 2014-04-29T04:19:00

It was a decent start to a top down shooter, but I felt the bullets moved way too slowly for the speed of the onslaught of enemies. It almost felt like I didn't have enough bullets to handle all the enemies coming my way. Breaking up the enemies into waves would also help to avoid the frantic rush for the shop button. Solid start.

LD33 — You are the Monster

Oranges In Love With My Fly by ViliX64 2015-08-24T03:52:00

Loved the graphic style, liked the story, but the gameplay felt incredibly slow. I don't know if it was the scale of the units or what, but compared to every other line battler I've played that was almost glacial in pace.

Misunderstood by catchthefloaty 2015-08-24T02:43:00

Really liked the theme. I was sad to see it end so quickly. Great job.

FROGCASTROPHE by psyduckfreak 2015-08-24T02:39:00

Good art. Sound mix was a little bit loud, but otherwise solid.

PONY! by Phil Strahl 2015-08-24T03:05:00

As someone who also had a game that definitely didn't get finished, I still found this very amusing. You definitely rocked the graphics, and the world reminded me of a certain counterstrike map. Keep up the good work :)

Imperial Accountant by Ilseroth 2015-08-24T02:55:00

Graphics were definitely unique but on some of the later floors I found myself getting turned around with the lack of a map/compass. Otherwise great job!

who' s the monster by IronSquirel 2015-08-24T03:44:00

Tutorial box definitely took a while to disappear, but then I felt insignificant as the giant wave of red dudes crushed me and the two other blue dudes. Not sure if that was intended or not, but I feel like this game is a decent explanation away from being enjoyable.

Harold - The Overly Destructive Flying Monster by Ethan Allwood 2015-08-24T03:24:00

For those who don't want to install, you can always just extract the contents using something like 7-zip.

Anyways, game seemed solid, but the hyper restrictive view and the amount of health the enemies had meant I kept dying rapidly.

StoneWalker by Jamie Guillemette 2015-08-24T03:11:00

Seemed interesting but I was unable to really play it due to the massive lag (even with the native client running on my gaming pc). Looked good from what I saw though.

Dungeon Brawl by Ekibyou 2015-08-24T03:16:00

Looked interesting, but was unable to play it as I have no gamepad. Tried rebinding controls from the menu, but it wouldn't take any sort of input from the keyboard/mouse for the movement axis.
