LD53 — Delivery

Watching by Jajo 2023-05-01T15:26:12Z

The enemies are super creepy and I really want to shoot them all. I would like to see what this game would be like after developing it further.

A couple of points of feedback for you: 1. I think this would be better with mouse controls rather than just keyboard. Along the same lines, the enemy hit boxes seem too big. I think changing to mouse controls and tightening the enemy hit boxes will go a long way toward improving the feel of the game. If you want to keep keyboard controls, consider adding some smoothing to the motion. 2. It gets repetitive pretty quick. Understanding that this was made in a very short time, if you develop this further, I recommend adding more variety of enemies, weapons, etc. to keep it interesting. 3. The transitions are a little harsh, particularly when the scene changed. Also, I think the boss fight could be improved with some signaling to let the player know what type of attack is coming. When it changed from the sweeping attack to the targeted attack, there was no indication that the behavior was going to change. As a result, it felt a little cheap when I got hit by the first targeted attack.

Days on the Lake by nardandas 2023-05-03T03:56:28Z

I love the pixelated graphics combined with the water physics. The boat was genuinely fun to drive, and the upgrades were pretty well thought out. I was not able to buy the gun or the cannon, though. I had enough money, but clicking on either one would do nothing. Not sure if I was doing something wrong or if it's a bug. Still had a ton of fun. Great entry.

Drone Diner Dash by Lex 2023-05-06T05:17:21Z

This is a fun game. I played for longer than most other games I have played so far. The controls are simple to learn but difficult to master.

FredEx by ScrapMetal 2023-05-03T04:07:09Z

hilariously difficult. I managed to get to the third guy, but I think his TV fell off at the beginning, so all I had left was a mattress. The art style fits the mechanics perfectly, as do the sounds.

Special Delivery by Ismael Rodriguez 2023-05-02T05:26:51Z

Great game. I love the pixel art, especially all the animations and little details. The audio is really good too. It fit the game perfectly. The mechanics are simple to learn, but harder to master. Very well done.

Supply Heroes by SvenErik 2023-05-02T04:51:03Z

I am not very good at it, but it is a lot of fun. The game looks great and has great sound effects. It is an interesting interpretation of the theme also.

Winged Delivery by Ninnec 2023-05-02T04:29:41Z

Fun, simple game. Good job

Skyway Delivery by Pincushion 2023-05-01T15:37:52Z

I like the looks a lot. The colors used in the buildings are especially nice. I think it could be even better with some attention to the lighting. The camera pointing to the next objective is a great touch that helped keep me oriented the entire time. I feel the pausing/locking the player controls until I press enter is unnecessary. As others have mentioned, the controls are not immediately obvious, so giving the player some instruction at the beginning would go a long way.

Merge Barge by ashashza 2023-05-01T14:52:11Z

This game is great! There is a surprising amount of strategy required to manage the space and fuel. The audio fits the game really well too.

One small nitpick is that it is a little jarring and confusing at first when the game stops if the mouse hovers over a smog cloud. It would happen at random times as the smog went under my mouse, and for a split second I would think the game froze. Maybe you could just pause one time at the beginning to introduce the smog. This is a nitpick though. I really enjoyed the game.

Parcel Panic by icch_howw 2023-05-03T03:16:36Z

This is a fun game. I made it to 2:44, and it felt very panicky at the end. The gameplay is well done, and the audio is really good.

Thou Lines by VeniTheRich 2023-05-02T04:14:38Z

I also had the idea of this interpretation of delivery, but I could not think of a way to make a game out of it. This is a fun game, and it has a good range of difficulty. The hardest level is really hard. The music is also very catchy.

A good, fresh take on a classic. It's a fun game.

Supply Line Simulator by mlists 2023-05-02T05:16:05Z

Fun game. I did not consider a strategy game with this theme, but it works. Some indication of when a unit is running low on supplies would be helpful

The Silver Fleet by KyleTheCoder 2023-05-01T16:20:26Z

This is a fun game. Good variety of enemies that are visually distinct from one another, and the upgrade system is a nice touch.

Harpoon Lagoon by Adam Gallina 2023-05-02T04:23:20Z

This is a very chill game, and I like it. I could listen to the music for a long time without getting tired of it.

Le Laitier by Calcopod 2023-05-01T08:36:28Z

I like the sliding mechanics. The atmosphere is really good, too.

AstroNews Dispatch by Draconic Rabbit 2023-05-01T08:27:02Z

I like this in general, but I find the motion of the background disorienting.

Spirit Mail by Fabian Denter 2023-05-01T16:02:53Z

Amazing! Beautiful world. I love the entire concept behind the story, and the ending is very touching. I have no idea how you created this in such a short time. Bravo.

Minor nitpicks: some of the interact prompts are difficult to activate. Also, the signposts could be improved by displaying the text without activating them.

Controls are difficult, but interesting. Really like the art style. Good choice of color palette.

Red Planet Rendezvous by csimpson 2023-05-03T12:39:43Z

@sean-spiggle thanks for the kind words! My goal was to have players be able to land after several attempts. Once you get the hang of it, it then turns into a game of landing as close to the target as possible. I knew going in that the game would be harder than I think as a developer, but I guess I still feel victim. I'm glad that at least it's not frustrating to try again.

@calcopod it makes me very happy to hear that you like the audio! I have never written music or sound effects before, so that was as much of a learning experience for me as the rest of the game. I was surprised to read that this was also your first jam. Your game is one of my favorites that I have played.

@seurimas I'm glad you like it!

@jm-studio Oops, it is not supposed to be possible to land with the rover retracted like that. The win condition requires both the rover and the sky crane to be in contact with the ground. Looks like I have some adjustments to make!

@sodoj It's definitely more challenging than I meant it to be, but maybe that's a good thing. I made some adjustments throughout the development process to make it less frustrating for me to debug again and again, so I guess that translates into a less frustrating experience for the player too.

@peterfiftyfour lunar lander was my inspiration! I initially had the same art style, but couldn't make it look good, so I finally went with the only type of illustration I have any experience with. Glad you enjoyed it!

Red Planet Rendezvous by csimpson 2023-05-03T13:13:03Z

@farfadet46 fair enough haha. I'm glad you found it pleasing

@adam-gallina I definitely underestimated the difficulty. Glad it's fun to try again though!

@pincushion Happy to hear! (You're not supposed to be able to land that way btw!)

@ismael-rodriguez I'm glad you like it! I think I bankrupted NASA with all of my crashes!

Dispatchers by Shiiigear 2023-05-03T01:33:31Z

This is a very fun game. The difficulty really ramps up! I think the levels are really well designed, and I like that the player has to take the length of the paths into account to solve the puzzles. The music is very relaxing too and highlights the casual nature of the game. Great design and well executed.

As far s feedback, I agree with others that allowing the player to delete the paths we place would be a nice qol improvement.
