Fun game, the effect on the sattelite warpy thing was kind of really hard to look at, but I had fun!
Very cool game. I struggled a bit with the mechanics, but I really liked the drifting physics. Artistically interesting, it reminded me of some great classic games. Good job!
I have to agree, this has Very Nice Shaders.
The aesthetic is wonderful! How did you do it? I loved the TV style and all the effects. Amazing art style.
Your game is amazing, a revisit of a classic with polished art and audio, it's high art!
Very beautiful game! In the beginning, I really liked how difficult it was to pilot the ship, but I got annoyed real quick... Maybe some difficulty settings could help? There's a lot to discover, and it didn't get boring!
@rincs thank you! And thank you for streaming game :)
Yeah, that's the idea of satelite. It's expensive but you either need to hook it from a distance and lose control, or to lose sime sight. But for that you get a great reward!
@vipaka Thank you!
@mcbombadev great that my effor is noticed
@klinsmannhengles it's a CRT shader, bloom effect, chromatic abbreviation and a few other small tweaks :) Great that you liked it so much
@lagerbe pleased to hear that <3
@piko the idea is that you get enough money to get a new ship when it's getting boring.So it's kinda a built in anti-boring system, I guess :D
A small fine game, visuals are great. Movement feels a little bit too floaty, but not the end of the world. But I don't like controls, I prefer WASD to move and mouse buttons to control the hook.
Cool game! I really liked the aesthetics as well as the theme - harvesting in space is always cool!
I like minimalist visual stylization! Cool game with physics.
Oh wow, I gotta have to revisit this entry, so far I've only tried one of the ships, but it's fun to play! The space debris is very atmospheric, and so are the visual effects around the gravitational anomalies. (I could go without the strong CRT effect on the whole screen, but oh well.)
On one hand, it feels like having a more fragile ship would improve the "trying to navigate a dangerous space debris field" feeling, but on the other hand, the game might become a bit frustrating, it is already tricky enough to travel around with all this inertia and the one-directional thrusters.
The non-literal take on the theme is a breath of fresh air too.
One of the most polished entries I've encountered so far, congrats!
@tricky-fat-cat hey! Those are very classical controls. The reason it's like that is because we decided to make hook shout only forward and that's how it was all compiled in single feature :D
@wolkp thanks!
@tildecat thank you :3
@ditam thanks for such detailed feedback! I really think that when you switch ship, you would get an answer for your thoughts about ship movements ;)
@yogurtthehorse I'm ok with the aiming through rotating the ship, I mean for me as a user of 60% keyboard it's not comfortable to use arrows. But WASD and e.g. mouse buttons or space and shift is more comfortable.
@tricky-fat-cat that sounds strange for me a bit. Obviously in complete game user can decide on its own how they like, but the idea that you use mouse just for buttons sounds very strange for me...
But yeah, 60% kb are bad for arrows, that i can understand x)
@yogurtthehorse I've played a lot of shooters. XD
Why is this so addictive?? Strategizing gets surprisingly deep with regards to movement. I really like the style, obviously with the asteroids inspiration. The black hole effect is great. I was playing for a while, but got stuck in a black hole and the reset button didn't work :( apart from that, I loved every second!
@tricky-fat-cat I mean, yeah. But that's kinda not one of them :D
@bobbo great to know you liked. The problem with reset button is very strange... You are the first one reporting such problem
Nice game! I like physics and sound voices! thank you for the game
@kosmi thank you for playing and feedback!
Nice job, really nailed the space atmosphere, way better than I did with the space theme. Some of those CRT shaders would've fit so nicely in my arcade-like space game haha, definitely jealous :) I think maybe the first ship should handle better, or the first upgrade should be cheaper to obtain, now I found myself spending a lot of time with the first "bad" ship (I'm assuming the other ones handled better and moved faster) which isn't a great first experience for players if they get stuck there for too long. You want to hook the player in from the start. I think something that could've maybe improved the manuverability and the movement experience is to add some extra force when the player thrusts in a direction opposite of the one they are going to make it easier to stop/turn the ship. Ultimately the fun comes from both exploring the entire area but also to do nice movements and close dodges and I think one could've leaned more into the movement side to give that extra nice experience for new players. But seriously, beautiful polish with the graphics & shaders and the soundtrack fits the atmosphere wonderfully. Well done.
@marcus-otterstrom, thank you for such detailed feedback (is that the longest comment we have?)
Yeah, balancing is what we need to make a better game, but it's only 72 hours unfortunately :(
ok so every jam you find a couple of games that you absolutely LOVE
this one is first one like that in ld52 for me
but i have to admit i am a huge sucker for space games :D
so! very very very solid production. the minimal graphics, the vibe, the aestheticc and the postprocess fx all come together to create an unique, crisp, well designed sci-fi vibe that pleases my eyeballs and ears
the moment i realized i could have _m u l t i p l e_ grappling hooks was amazing. never before i enjoyed hauling heavy objects in space as here (and never before i took so many risks and tried to carry _way_ too much)
the subtle touch of having the "anchor" of the hook _stay_ after disconnecting is also very satysfying (and sometimes embarrasing after multiple attempts :D)
i enjoyed the freedom, and practiced a bit before looking for the blackboxes (didn't know exactly what i was looking for - at first i thought that the red boxes will damage me if i hit them so i avoided them - only then i realized the truth...)
my best was carrying 4 sattelites at the same time :sunglasses:

_this post was made by the small ship gang, why pay 10k for the big ship when small ship is clearly superior!!!!_
EDIT: and huge props for respecting the SPACE PHYSICS, NO FREE BRAKING FOR ANYBODY, ONCE YOU'RE GOING YOU'RE GOING
The graphics are really pretty, super simple but nicely stylised. The gameplay is fun, I like trying to move the stuff around without being thrown waaay off course. It would be nice to have something to drop all hooks at the same time maybe? I really had to spam the button a couple times to let go cause I threw out so many hooks. Overall I really enjoyed it, good job :)
Super polished game that really feels solid. Music, sound effects and graphics give it a almost spooky atmosphere. Looks just beautiful. Awesome job!
Fun little game, the graphics are great and the sounds nice. Apart from the eye-annihilating chromatic aberration this is overall a nice game.
Nice work! I enjoyed the physics gameplay and trying to wrangle seven or eight physics objects through a tight space. I was able to beat the game before I unlocked the last ship, and I didn't want to scrounge together enough debris for 10K credits. But what I did play was enjoyable.
I would have appreciated more progression elements. The small ship being required to navigate tight spaces made me think we were going into Metroidvania territory.
I love the old style TV effect. How did you do that :D
The music is nicely placed. The physics are good too when dragging junk around. You did a cracking job.
The only issue I had is collecting too many and being really off like slow and not moveable?
Nice work :)
@cannibalgirl wow! Thank you! So cool you liked it!
Small ship is a risky one, and while it can go to small holes, it's an easy target for blackholes (I mean, they are holes too, so...) :) While big ship is very hard to control it can simply ignore blackholes, has superiour hook and is an ultimate rescue machine
About EDIT section: God, finally someone gets it!!!
@whalejam Thank you! If we gonna continue, we defenetily would upgrade hooks and more control to them :)
@stevepixelface thank you!
@zsharpfire Thank you! hmmm.. is it so bad? Everyone liked it :(
@zungryware yeah, it's meant that you can finish game faster, but if you want to continue, you can still paly it and solve other puzzles. But if it's enough, than you don't have to. Enjoy as musch as you want to! And yeah, Metroidvania wibes are intended, hehe. This is our progression :)
@d3kryption I've answered that before - it’s a CRT shader, bloom effect, chromatic abbreviation and a few other small tweaks :)
I wouldn't call that an issue though, this is how physics and balance work :DD
Thank you!
Had a good time playing this! Almost died from a heart attack and fell of a chair when the ship got hit for the first time. :sweat_smile:
Love the eerie atmosphere as well.
Here is my playthrough:
https://youtu.be/ZHY2krSbNkw
@icxon thank you! Oh god a 40 minutes let's paly. Do we now have an official first let's play about our tiny game? Cooool!
Кстати, привет заснеженному Петербургу!
The atmosphere of this is great - the art and post processes work well together, with good audio too. I had fun dragging around as much junk as possible :)
@ani thank you <3
Really nice entry! The graphical style is amazing and the overall idea of the game is great. My one complaint would be that the controls can be pretty annoying, but that may be a skill issue. And yes, the shaders are great :)
@jakubbala thank you!
Impressive style and idea! I had a lot of fun and probably played it way too much despite the "loneliness and emptiness of vast space" there :laughing: very enjoyed those 'little puzzles' of getting boxes. Altough I only bought one space ship, and didn't feel much big need to explore more of map, getting blackboxes was quite "easy challenge" tho
Amazing visuals and effects, solid mechanics, pretty tricky! Wish my spaceship had a booster (maybe one of the upgraded ones has one? Didn't make it that far)
@chanjohann thank you! Yeah, game made in such way that you can win easily, but for rhose who want more there is a whole level to play, if they are completionists. So if you didn't want to get more - no one gonna blame you, play as much as you like
@diesdas thanks! Nope, no such ship, though the small one is very fast (good luck not crashing it every 3 seconds, though :D)
THis was lots of fun! I pelted off toward galactic southeast and just held it down till the stars were a blur, heh, not sure I even topped out on the speed.
@fromage that’s not about speed, it’s about distance x)
Oh, interesting!
(I mean I knew I wasn't really flying through space, heh)
Pretty funny and cute game!
Very good concept and idea, the atmosphere created by art and effects is also great. But it is a bit difficult to operate in actual play, the spaceship is easy to float away. It is not easy to reach the desired place or even the true direction.
A fun little game that's hindered by its control scheme a bit. Arrow keys should never be used for movement. Or anything. I'd honestly spend an hour playing this game if I could use my left hand for movement, like I do in every other game, ever.
I played for a bit with my arms crossed, and it was better until my arms got tired.
Solid game. Fix the control scheme. Or make the keys rebindable.
@yx0884 hey, thank you :)
@jumpirate thank you! Well, it's a skill game, so it's the idea of the genre. Such control makes you improve your skill and generates unique situations if you make mistakes :) There are also a two other ships with different movement properties, so if you continue playing you would be able to change that aspect!
@justin-c arrows is not a bug, but a very reasonable design of UX, so it cannot be fixed by rules of LD. The idea of such choice comes from the fact you don't use mouse in that game. Making people use it ONLY for two buttons seems a bit strange, because you would instinctively try to shoot to the position of the pointer, which only would make you confused (and we don't shoot to poinеer position also for reason)
More over ZX(C)-Arrows is a very classical scheme for 2d games that dont use mouse. Spelunky, Celeste and a lot more use it. A long while ago it was mostly Shift-Control-Arrows (like in classical DOOM), but things moved to ZX after some time. The reason it changed to WASD is that games started to use mouse with your right arm, so bindings had to move to the left part of the keyboard
There also was an option to make WASD + E + Q, but that would be a terrible UX from ergonomics view, bcs you would control the whole game with single arm, which 1) makes it weird for second arm 2) makes you do a lot of different actions in the same time with single arm which is simply harder than making it in parallel with two arms
So, this control scheme is pretty classical and have good reasons. If there was more time, we would obviously made rebindable layout, so everyone could be happy, but this is it, unfortuantely. You should be able to play without crosing your hands, though, without any problems :)
Loved the graphics! Thought the thruster particles could be a bit larger to match the rest of the chunky CRT look and the thrusters needed some SFX, but otherwise the art was really cool. Gameplay was slow and methodical, which I can respect, but didn't have a ton of patience for, so I only ended up testing one ship. Interesting little game. Couldn't see any holes in its development and it felt complete.
@thesmellofoxygen thank you! Alas, not much time for cool sfx. Otherwise there would be much more interesting effects around :)
Well done! One of the best game in this LD in my opinion. I had a lot of fun! Thank you!
Very nice vector graphics simulation, with all the bloom of real screen. Could go even more saturated! Controls are solid, even if bit too floaty and slow for my taste. At the times I felt like Wall E, cleaning trash to gain access to next area. And with all the abstract enemies/hazards this gets high rating on mood
@jormarysky thank you! Just saying, if you want to be more of a wall-e, check out LD50 entry :DD
https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/50/too-cute-for-space-fights
@yogurtthehorse I see that you might have thing for the space setting!
@jormarysky that's more of a coincidance :D
I really loved the **aesthetic** of the game!
Just one complaint I have is the drag of the ship. I saw some comments on this and I know the big ship is less floaty, but there are sometimes where I get lost far away from the map and it gets pretty hard and slow to return to the base.
Overall, a beautiful and fun game.
@oiluuuj hey! First of all, thank you. There are some navigational arrows around your ship, that should help you navigate. Or what exact problem you are facing?
Loved it! The arcade feel of it, great work with the bloom and shaders! And a cool take on the theme.
My recommendation would be on the driving of the ship, I understand is by design, but when it turn it can be a bit disorienting, not sure how can that been improved. But I would add a dash with a cooldown it been able to hit back for slowing it down.
Its a cool game and the art for it is spot on. The movement feels on point so thats great too. Also a thing that once you see you wont be able to unsee is... The first ship is a dogs face, and the second is the bears face :D. Sadly i didnt get to the 3rd ship because i felt its a bit too expensive to get and at that point, probably by my reckless driving all of the resources and black boxes ended up in the center of black holes and i couldnt get them out :(( So i would say just lower the price of ships a bit or add more parts to harvest. Other than that great entry!
Very cool presentation in this game! The physics are really satisfying, and the ability to hook as many things as you want is great. Being able to buy new ships and swap between them is really cool. I like how you can take as much time as you need getting used to the controls, before trying more challenging salvage missions. Very nicely done, all around! :)
space physics related games are always fun to play, i like the mechanic of controls, and the art is minimalist yet beautiful and polished. music was a bit too low (or sfx were too high idk) in my opinion. i enjoyed playing it, it is really a chill game since you can achieve way more when you're going slowly!
great entry, well done!
Very nice game! I was skeptical at the beginning and frustrating by the need to go back and forth. But when I realized I could use multiple hooks it was a game changing haha! Really like the classic Astroid vibe :)
Very cool concept! Love the gameplay idea, love the level design and physics interactions, love the fact you can change ships for specific tasks! Although to be honest I'm not a fan of the ships movement, not that it's bad btw just that I'd like to control it a bit more precisely, the level of extra challenge from the current movement is also appreciated (if not juuuust a bit frustrating). Very solid work, I will play a lot more of it <3
also, if possible, please go check my entry, I'd love your input!
(a bit busy for last few days, but still trying to answer everyone if I have anything to say)
@binaryprinciple thanks! Your feedback is very subjective. Like, we understand that not everyone like current movement style, but a lot also like. So it's a stumbling block, kinda. Still figuring out how it could be done in a way everone likes
@kikiriki367 thank you! We already tried to make it more economical friendly, but ballancing in ludum games in something we still need to master even after 4 jams, apparently
@chompdev thanks for your feedback <3
@amarokczukay thanks! Well. Everyone can choice their own way of palying. I personally like more fast and risky type of gameplay :)
@andy-link oh. We really tried to point on the fact you can hook as much as you wish, but seems like without some kind of tutorial it's just not possible to make easy-readable. Though, as you found out that small secret we are really pleased you liked the game!
@pedro-d-almeida wow! Thanks for so much of love to our little entry <3 I would try to get to your entry when I stop being busy with IRL activities :(
LOVED IT! Fun game, interesting mesh of concepts. And I LOVED the crt overlay and the hit effects. If only those black holes would STOP stealing my stuff!
