Dec 14 03:45:00 Fire In The Hole! Nice music, but picking up the items isn't always consistent.
Dec 14 04:15:00 30m 00s Ludum Dare: The Game Hehe, I dig this. Turns out, I'm a lot more successful at making MMORTSRPGs than I am a rhythm game. Who knew!

Overall, this is a very solid entry for 48 hours, with a lot of replay value. I love the random names, the choices the game lets you pick when developing your LD entry, etc. Clearly you have had enough experience doing Ludum Dare that you were able to capture the appropriate humourous moments. :P

Definitely this could be expanded in a postjam; more choices and even have at the end of the game, a description based on the choices you are given when making art, etc. hehe that would be nice. Music's great as always. The chiptune definitely works to your advantage here.

~Random-storykeeper
Dec 14 04:32:00 17m 00s Tea Time I played this one with my sister, and we had quite a bit of fun. The cards were a bit confusing as to how their effects worked, but that was mostly due to the the amount of damage. Anywho, I understood it better towards the end.

The graphics are alright; the music is nice. Piano is appropriate for a teatime game. I'm just not really sure about the bass being appropriate for a game this simple, but I'm sure with some added features it'll fit in just fine. :P

~Random-storykeeper
Dec 14 04:47:00 15m 00s Bouncing Balls with the Boing Boing Boys My sister and I had a blast. She beat me, 2 out of 3. Next time though! :P

Overall, I liked it and it was simple enough to fool around and understand how to play. The music is fun for a game of this demeanour. It reminds me of An Untitled Story for some reason.

I found the graphics to be a bit on the busy side, what with the crazy lines and colours everywhere, but it wasn't super distracting from the game itself. It was good for a jam game.

~Random-storykeeper
Dec 14 05:13:00 26m 00s The Last Fish It was near the end when I had to resort to cannibalism that I wasn't exactly sure what I had to do. I tried eating, but it didn't restore my health much, and at times, even touching the fish just moved them around. I also wasn't able to reach fish that had been pushed to the bottom of the tank.

That aside, I did have a lot of fun in the first few stages. I love the change in music from happy to dissonant and twisted. Very fitting. The main character fish is funny looking and I like that a lot. I am curious as to how the owner of the fish was able to feed them constantly for the first few stages while remaining at his computer all that time, lol. Why couldn't he perform that same magic before all the fish died? And these seemed like regular feeding methods to me.

haha, overall, I enjoyed the dark humour.

~Random-storykeeper
Dec 14 06:01:00 48m 00s Alice in The Wonder Room This took a while to understand how to play. At first, I was trying to absorb the crown! Silly me.

The game is pretty fun, and I'm impressed at the number of levels. Some parts with the hazards seem confusing as to how to avoid them (the vertical line), but I take it you have to dash to avoid them. I like the art of the enemies and characters, and the music's fitting.

~Random-storykeeper
Dec 14 06:19:00 18m 00s Ada's Room Good use of the intro theme, love the sound effects for the first boss. I also really like the graphics - that skull creeped me out when I first saw it appear. In fact, the art on your blog post drew me to play this in the first place.

I take it that boss is the only level, but it's a REALLY huge jump in difficulty. Especially since the jumping is kind of finicky, and the ceiling boundaries shorten the length of my jumps, causing me to hit the spikes.

But I really like this idea; it needs a smoother difficulty curve, which I'm aware is because of time restraints. The boss battle has some good ideas in it, but it just didn't seem like a boss that should have started the game. Perhaps it would have been better to focus on an easier boss?

I'm also not sure if the sudden background change really alludes to the idea of it taking place in "one room". I wish we could see some more of that background of the bedroom maybe. Ah well. Nice effort overall.

~Random-storykeeper
Dec 14 06:34:00 15m 00s My Son's Adventure This game really tries my patience. I wasn't exactly sure what I was supposed to do when playing. The overall tone of the graphics and the ticking sound effect make the son's journey seem dystopian and bleak. I'm not certain if that's what you are going for.

The bottom-right panels don't make a lot of sense, particularly the one with the weapons and healing options. Is the game an RPG? The only good thing about the game, however, is the graphics. I do enjoy this minimal, simplistic pixelated style.

~Random-storykeeper
Dec 14 06:48:00 14m 00s AREA 51 Great graphics and sound effects. (I especially like the collecting money one.) The lighting is a really neat idea, but at times, but it made some of the enemies barely visible, particularly the smaller blue soldiers. I would have liked to see the enemies more clearly. Other than that, the controls seemed pretty fluid and I liked that a lot. The "one room" theme is a little lost on me, since it does look like those stairs lead to other rooms.

~Random-storykeeper
Dec 14 07:23:00 35m 00s Exam Simulator But what if the people whom I copy off of are wrong? D:

haha just kidding. This was a lot of fun to play. Man is that teacher ever creepy. Especially since losing just jump cuts to the "game over" screen and you just get a blank stare.

Woa that teacher is pretty sneaky too. At times, I saw the radar leave and then I would look, but I'd still get caught because the teacher was walking away! Regardless, it was enjoyable. XD

~Random-storykeeper
Dec 14 07:35:00 12m 00s After Party It's a little finicky to play, but the story is interesting and the graphics are very detailed, love the colours. I like the sound effects too. It was hard to tell which way the girls were facing and exactly how to sneak in.

~Random-storykeeper
Dec 14 07:43:00 8m 00s The Milu Lovely narrative! It's a shame the telescope is on the buggy side, and I think that's why it got stuck for me. I love the graphics, and overall calming atmosphere set by the music.

~Random-storykeeper
Dec 14 07:57:00 14m 00s eCubed³ The 3D was very disorienting for me. I like the audio, though. Going through the portals is an interesting idea; I particularly like the effects of the portals as you walk through them. Also, I'm not really sure if I get the theme from this game, but I guess the room is simply changing and you're not transitioning from one room to another.

~Random-storykeeper
Dec 14 08:12:00 15m 00s STEREOJO Really neat idea, love the graphics. Music's good, too. :)

The wall jumping is what made this game overly frustrating. It's a little difficult to get a grasp of the wall, as you don't seem to grab onto it unless you mess around with the jump key and hope for the best. That aside, some of the level designs in this were pretty clever and built around the mechanic of not allowing the player to control the illusion, but rather having it be done mechanically. So I liked that. I would love to see more levels and that wall jumping adjusted in a postjam version.

~Random-storykeeper
Dec 14 08:59:00 47m 00s Voyage Heh, a short but tragic story. I like the pixelated graphics, and the text changing when the days pass. It wasn't exactly clear what I had to click on in order to actually progress the game, which I would have liked to see. There were quite a few typos in the text as well, but I liked the narrative overall.

~Random-storykeeper
Dec 14 09:14:00 15m 00s Cold Light Very simple, but a well made, playable game. I like the idea of having to collect items to open up certain barriers, thereby expanding the room. The audio was quite fitting and good at setting the mood of a cold, icy area. The graphics are a bit off-putting in some places, particularly the lettering on the titlescreen is difficult to read and the flashing tiles don't really work for me. I do like that background, though. This is one of the best put together, simple entries I've played so far. Good job!

~Random-storykeeper
Dec 14 09:59:00 45m 00s 72 Hours A bit of a side note, it might be best to change the name of the link from "Web" to "Download", as the former implies that the game can be played on a browser. Unless you could, by chance, make it a browser build (which would be even better).

I'm afraid I don't really understand how "losing" works in this game. Like when I start off the game by choosing a food other than an energy drink, I automatically lose even though I have plenty of time left. But why; did yesterday's Thai leftovers kill me or something?

You did a good job with the music and the humour. The jazz feel kind of helps to make the mood comical, but also give the sense that you need to keep working because you have to submit that game in 72 hours! The sound effects are also just as good. I enjoyed what I played.

~Random-storykeeper
Dec 14 10:13:00 14m 00s Machine Blaster I had a blast. The dying sound effect makes me giggle.

I will agree that the game is a bit on the easy side, but I had fun, at least. It was time well spent. Though I will admit, the game is also a bit laggy at times and the audio has a tendency to clip every now and then. That aside, I like this game.

~Random-storykeeper
Dec 15 08:34:00 22h 21m Sam I'm at the near end of the game, but I'm not exactly certain on what I have to do. I wish I could have reread the dialogue of the robot, but I wasn't able to access it again. It's the part where you enter the room that depletes your oxygen rapidly, and you get a flashlight at the beginning of it.

Anyways, I do echo the sentiment that the music was very well chosen and it is a very intriguing story. I kind of didn't see how this related to the theme, though you did allude to it with one piece of dialogue, so...I guess that's nice. It was a bit too much to read at the beginning, but I think maybe pacing those parts with more gameplay would make it more engaging and at least I'd understand the story better. The graphics and the mood are excellent, though.

Also, just a note. When I die in the part that I am currently stuck at, I hear a respawn sound that occurs twice.

~Random-storykeeper
Dec 15 08:42:00 8m 00s I Need More Room, Meow I wish the game had some sort of indication as to what could be clicked, rather than have you click around aimlessly and hope for the best. But that aside, this was a nice, simple idea. I like the graphics, and the music fit the minimalistic style. I almost kind of wish there was more variety in the loop, as it's the only thing I hear besides sound effects while trying to figure out what to click, but the music itself was good and seemed fitting for a game of this demeanour.

For what I could click, I did like some of the ideas with the mirror, and basically clicking as the cat without actually showing the cat on screen. Thought that was pretty clever in itself.

~Random-storykeeper
Dec 15 08:54:00 12m 00s INFINIROOM Great game, the ability to instantly reload after death makes this all the more addicting. I enjoyed the music thoroughly, and the art is pretty good too. I am not the best at this game, but it does seem like a very clever idea.

~Random-storykeeper
Dec 15 09:10:00 16m 00s Alien Cube Sorting Room I managed to survive 15 waves, but the counter keeps going up even after I die. It's a pretty neat idea, though. You do need some fast reflexes to quickly pick up the correct colour block and then get it to the correct colour station. I like the consequences of parts of the floor being taken away if you're too slow. Definitely adds to the challenge.

Some music would be GREAT. The sound effects for destroying the tiles is good. I thought the design for the alien was kinda funky, and that's cool. If there's anything that really bothered me, it was the controls. WASD with E felt a little too contrived. Maybe have both WASD and arrows to move, and two keys on opposite ends to pick up and drop off blocks?

~Random-storykeeper
Dec 15 09:24:00 14m 00s Empty Hurgh, I promised myself I wouldn't play any more of these rotatey 3D games, but this one looked really interesting! I didn't get far before I started to feel queasy, but from what I had played, I thought the gameplay was really clever. The colours are nice. The controls were kind of finicky, and I was having trouble rotating where I wanted to move at times.

I'm a fan of the audio, as well. :)

~Random-storykeeper
Dec 15 10:36:00 1h 12m Claim Your Color A very fun entry. I like the competitive nature in this one. The game started up very slow at first and froze when I had pressed enter on the titlescreen, but once it got going, I enjoyed it. I agree that this definitely would make for a great multiplayer game.

Also, nice story. :P

~Random-storykeeper
Dec 15 10:51:00 15m 00s Geometry Encounters My computer is detecting your download as dangerous, but I think it's because of the site of which you host it on. Just a heads up.

I mean I was able to load up the game fine. It seems to be a shooter, but I was able to go off screen and never come back. Meanwhile, my fellow enemies stayed honing in my position, bouncing back and forth along the bottom right corner, hoping for my return.

In my second round, I started moving around, but my enemies shot me out of my existence, then they dispersed off screen too, leaving me to gaze upon that pretty background you got there.

What I mean to say is, the game is pretty buggy. It definitely needed some sort of restart button to make this more...playable. I know it isn't finished, but I mean, it's not all that bad. I do like the graphics, and I definitely think it's worth trying to work more on this game and fix the bugs that make it impossible to replay.

It's a good effort, and you should certainly keep working on this. You can do it! ;)
Dec 15 11:12:00 21m 00s Tangent REALLY GOOD! I feel like this would have been an entry for Nitrome's Pixel Love if it was a browser game (and if they were still doing that...sigh).

But yeah, this game was totally up my alley. Pixelised graphics that were super cute, a clever idea, fading out rooms here and there and having them tie into one another. A mix of puzzles and fast reflexes. I got frustrated at times, but it was the good kind of frustration that kept me playing until the very end.

And the music...ohhhhh the music. Synths and chip blips work excellently with this. I can't believe this was done in 48 hours.

~Random-storykeeper
Dec 15 11:27:00 15m 00s Cozy Christmas Village Nice, reminds me of when I played browser simulator games like Resort Empire. At first I wasn't sure how this related to the theme until I dragged around the screen and realised that the whole thing is set on a table in a single room! How clever.

I like the voices, but wish I could have heard more of that. The sound effects were alright. I love the art in this a lot, especially that little puff of smoke that comes out of those houses.

It's crazy how this was done in 48 hours. Great work!

~Random-storykeeper
Dec 15 11:41:00 14m 00s Faucet What the HECK

-POSSIBLE GAME SPOILERS-

That was creepy. I enjoyed every moment of it. Well, every moment except for the part with the lock. The thing you have to observe happens a little too fast. But aside from this, the gameplay was short but effective. It was kind of hard to recognise where certain items were. I didn't even realise I had picked up the screwdriver; I just started pressing space rapidly as I went.

Overall, the mood was great. The audio was super unsettling, as was the narrative as it unfolded. I really like this entry.

~Random-storykeeper
Dec 15 11:51:00 10m 00s Three in Room It seems your game has some sort of malware in it that my computer is just flatout blocking without giving me the option to ignore it.

~Random-storykeeper
Dec 15 20:14:00 8h 23m Bat Cave The controls for jumping and shooting aren't ideal. Pressing the Alt key to jump causes my game to lose focus. That being said, it was an alright game. I like the contrast of the bats against the more detailed cave background. The bombs and drops look a little out of place though.

~Random-storykeeper
Dec 16 04:37:00 8h 23m Glasses Guess The first time I played, I got stuck on the stairs near the part where it said I had to find keys. I tried jumping and moving, but it seemed like I was stuck there. Had to restart as a result.

But the second time through, I played and completed it. And I really like it! The beginning and ending cutscenes were so cute. The music was great, nice bassline. If there was one issue I had about the audio, it was that I don't really like how the music fades out before it loops. I love the art as well.

The hardest part about the game was the controls. I had to pause for a moment to remember which keys put on the glasses and which keys took them off. It might make sense to map them to one key, perhaps? Other than that, it was a good, solid entry. One of my favourites too. :)

~Random-storykeeper
Dec 16 04:53:00 16m 00s Glitch Room Very glitchy but very cool. It was hard to tell which glitches were intentional and which ones were not.

The game seems to have gotten stuck at one of the third or fourth waves. I do like this idea of craziness, and having the room suddenly change form at random. I especially love it when the furniture in the room shows up in the space background.

Because of the glitchy concept, it was hard to tell whether I'm stuck or I have to move around to cause something else to happen in the game.

The music is very funky and fitting for a game like this.

~Random-storykeeper
Dec 16 06:45:00 1h 52m Last Wights The use of the theme to be the objective of the game is clever. The music is fitting for a home theme, I think. The graphics were pretty good; I like the designs of the ghosts. Nice colours, too. The level pacing was good as well. An overall well done entry!

~Random-storykeeper
Dec 16 20:28:00 13h 43m Gogol I like the pixel art and music. The controls feel a little unresponsive; the movement isn't quite feeling as fluent as it should be for a game of this type. It definitely is on the difficult side.

~Random-storykeeper
Dec 16 20:40:00 12m 00s Finding Home I'm a huge sucker for these story games, and this was great. I could see it as a children's picture book or something. The art is really adorable and goes well with the story. I love the rhymes and narrative. Totally went "awwww!" at the end. The sound effects were kind of funny, but they helped serve the purpose of the story.

~Random-storykeeper
Dec 16 20:55:00 15m 00s One Room Hotel All the people wanted to use one amenity and I only had one room with that amenity. D:

Good gameplay, simple to use but fast paced controls. I laughed at the voices of the guests as well as the satisfaction feedback (references to hardly staying in the hotel room, having motion sickness XD). I wish the game would allow you to drop off guests in the bottom lobby as well. The difficulty spike seems to jump quickly though.

~Random-storykeeper
Dec 16 21:10:00 15m 00s Welcome to my Room DAWWWWWWWWW this was cute. I love the graphics; it's amazing that you hand drew everything! It really gives the game a certain charm and really sets the mood. I found the movement a little on the slow side, but I enjoyed what I played nonetheless.

~Random-storykeeper
Dec 17 07:41:00 10h 31m Mouse House I thought it was okay. Definitely short; I agree with the others. I know you said more levels meant more rooms, thus going outside of the theme, but I feel like more could have been done within the boundaries of the theme to make it longer. Like you go to the finish burrow and then the room changes slightly; this could be done in one room - keeping to the theme - and adding more content to the gameplay.

The graphics for the mouse are pretty cute, and I do like the black-and-white aesthetic overall. The cheese seems a little out of place in this style.

This game also had a pretty interesting control scheme that made it difficult at first to dodge projectiles. I would have liked to have a key pressed to restart the game upon dying/winning rather than having to click the screen.

~Random-storykeeper
Dec 17 08:49:00 1h 08m KILLOBIT I am not good at this game at all, but I had a good time. :P The graphics are fitting for a game of this difficulty; I like the use of screenwrapping and how the colours of the room change upon a replay. Oh and the fast respawn was a definite plus. This entry offers a good kind of challenge.

~Random-storykeeper
Dec 17 09:16:00 27m 00s Pest Control I seem to be unable to pick up the gun weapon, but I have no trouble picking up the other two weapons. For me, the weapon I started out with got me a lot further into the game than the slow shooting, more powerful gun.

I like the premise, and how you are able to switch between weapons freely. I also like how you slow down when you are shooting a weapon; that's a good choice for drawback imo.

The graphics are pretty interesting and the music in between waves is nice. The "pew pew" sound effects are funny, but do get a little distracting in later waves when there's tons of bugs on screen. It's a bit unsettling to see the dead bodies of bugs linger as the waves progress. :P

~Random-storykeeper
Dec 17 10:18:00 1h 02m CircL Oh gosh that was intense. The dialogue was a little too fast to read at times, but from what I picked up, I liked. The art style in this is good, but what really sets the atmosphere here is the audio. That slow building sound really gets my heart pumping. This is a super interesting concept for a game!

~Random-storykeeper
Dec 21 00:08:00 85h 50m Loft is in the air I enjoyed the game overall, although the post-compo version's level variety and music makes it pretty superior. The use of the theme was pretty clever, and I love the game's visual design and charm. The rats were the only part I wasn't fond of, as they can be unpredictable and annoying at times, but including the upgrades mostly makes up for that.

~TinyCastleGuy
Dec 21 06:09:00 6h 01m Stain This Planet With Cosmic Prism Very cute and simplistic endless game. Though there were a lot of times where I felt helpless, the enemy coming from the other side of the screen before I could get there in time, the concept has some potential to be an even bigger game. I hope you expand on this idea!

~TinyCastleGuy
Dec 25 01:39:00 91h 30m Little Knights I love how some of the cutscenes shift between the room the brothers are in and the scenes they are imagining themselves in. That was a neat touch, and I actually would have liked to see more of that. The story overall seemed fine in itself; two brothers playing with their imagination in their bedroom.

Some issues that I found that some others may have addressed, but here:

- The walking sound effect constantly loops when I am walking and a cutscene is initiated. It also loops when I'm not walking and I attack an enemy and kill them. Thankfully, the sound effects stopped when I was able to walk again.
- Walking sound effects play while jumping.
- It seems that you can jump successfully while running. For that one part with the pits, I had paused to let the enemy turn around, but the key did not respond to my jump. I ended up making a run for it and thankfully, the guard did not get there at the same time I did.
- Maybe a bit of a personal preference, but it would be nice to also have the arrow keys for moving and jumping alongside WASD.

I think overall, you had a really good premise that can use more polish. :D

~Random-storykeeper
Dec 25 05:20:00 3h 41m soup kitchen I dig the chunky pixel art, but the player's sluggish movement drains the fun out of this. The sound effects are...interesting. But overall, I found myself actually wanting the time to end to see what the game over screen would display.
Dec 25 05:47:00 27m 00s Out of Sight Geez how many beer cups does a guy need? :P

That aside, I had fun with this. The choice of music is good, especially when it starts speeding up as the guest draws closer to your room. A couple issues with detection in the game, namely how being in line with things and throwing them sometimes causes them to go on the floor.

Also since the arrangement of the items seems to be randomised, there are some instances where the broom ends up in the middle of the bed and I am unable to reach it, thus making it near impossible to get a good cleaning score. It also would have been helpful to have maybe a garbage can for the cups?

Nonetheless, I did have quite a bit of fun. :P

~Random-storykeeper
Dec 25 06:02:00 15m 00s The Mailroom There's no penalty for losing mail, which I guess is good, because later waves had crazy amounts of different coloured mail scattered everywhere and I ended up destroying a lot of packages by removing their conveyor belts.

I think this is a good idea for a game, but the networking system could use some extra touches here and there. Maybe an ability to stop the mail for a brief period of time in an effort to reroute? :P One thing I do like about the gameplay mechanics, though, is the ability to click and drag to place multiple tiles in a row at once. That was very efficient!

~Random-storykeeper
Dec 25 06:26:00 24m 00s Kiln A pretty engaging puzzle game. Interesting how multiple blocks can be pushed down at once. I like the sound effects for the most part, but the introduction sound effect is quite grating. Also the wrap around ability by pressing the opposite key to flip to the other side threw me off, but I can see why it would be a convenience.

Finally, I'm not really sure how this fits the theme, to be honest. All levels take place in one room, I suppose?

~Random-storykeeper
Dec 25 06:42:00 16m 00s Training Room Fun little game. The aiming feels a bit off, feels like sometimes your view rolls a bit?
Its pretty short, maybe it could have been like infinite until you die or something?
Dec 25 06:56:00 14m 00s Don't Stop Me If there's anything I really like about this game, it's the graphics. They set the mood well. The game itself is kind of finicky. Aiming is difficult whilst pressing a key to try and load the software, and press another key to close the windows. If anything, I wish the software loading was automatic, where simply being at the computer would simply initiate software loading. It's a big enough space that there's still difficulty in doing it. Great mood and graphics overall.

~Random-storykeeper
Dec 25 07:01:00 5m 00s Shush Prowler I didn't understand the game until it was almost over. The mirror thing was interesting.
I LOVED the 3d modeling, great job in that!
SPOILER: Didnt like how the game ended
Dec 25 07:04:00 3m 00s Hikikomori You got me laughing out loud when playing this, so good job. :P Aside from that, I wasn't really sure how to push the brother/father? out the door. It just sort of disables all commands and then I lose automatically. I love the dialogue that shows up on the side though. I just wish the method of progression was more clear.

~Random-storykeeper
Dec 25 07:25:00 21m 00s Live to Die Again The audio is a bit hard on the ears, especially having to listen to it over and over when replaying the stages. I like the character art and the random generation of stages. For the first few playthroughs, I wasn't getting any ammunition whatsoever. And once you run out of ammo, it seems you are basically screwed. Still, a variety of enemies would take this so much further. Maybe even boss battles? :P
Dec 25 07:50:00 25m 00s The Library EYYY another entry about a library! ;) :D

The music's real good. It's great to hear music that isn't so percussion based, and more emotional and atmospheric being used in a rhythm game. Gameplaywise (and this is judging from the original), I didn't really feel like it worked as a rhythm game. It is too difficult for a casual player, and the peripheral just makes it so that the notes kind of "creep up" upon you. I like the idea of this formatting though; thought it was really creative to "read a book" in the same way a rhythm game was played.

I take it the issues may already be fixed in the postjam, but because they added new features, my ratings are based on the original version itself. Which overall, is pretty well done already, in terms of the ideas for the gameplay, the graphics and the music (those two being top notch). I'll check out the postjam in a bit.

~Random-storykeeper
Dec 26 00:01:00 16h 11m levelone Overall, this is a great entry. The best parts were the humour and mood. I love the dystopian edge, where the developer getting appalled that the character has a mind of its own and wants to escape. Though the graphics are simplistic, I think it suits the style quite well and really contributes to the humour, so I commend you for that. Audio, while dark and atmospheric, is a little on the darker side. I would have loved to hear a shift in the audio, maybe from a bright and hopeful developer tending towards his more frustrated and angrier side, and the music could get more dissonant as that happens.

But generally, I love the progression of the story. I was not expecting the end part. Super well done!

~Random-storykeeper
Dec 26 06:55:00 6h 54m Through The Window A very interesting premise that reminded me of Loop, where performing the wrong action sends you back a few actions and the frustration comes from the overall confusion. I can't exactly say it was the most unexpected thing I've experienced in a game, but I found that this one tended to be more...forgiving and didn't backtrack me as much, which I appreciate a lot.

I noticed a bit of an issue with the game's controls not being locked into the game module itself - that being when you press the down or up arrow keys, the entire browser also scrolls itself. Playing in fullscreen does make this not a problem, though.

Themewise, I can see how this connects. The character is stuck in a simulation and the environment within the room he is in is constantly changing. I can buy that with the way the character stays in place as the room changes scenes.

I like the colours used for the graphics and the minimal pixel style; it sets the mood for this type of scenario. The narration itself is well done too.

If I had a minor quip with this entry besides the controls as mentioned above, it's that I felt the audio was not quite fitting for the scenario. Granted, it is good audio assuming it was created in the 48 timeframe. But I think for a postcompo version, more atmospheric audio may be something to consider focusing on.

~Random-storykeeper
Dec 27 11:35:00 28h 40m Sound Crush This is a pretty neat concept. If anything, it's missing the little touches that make the game more engaging. I would have loved to see a score counter. The instructions even ask the player to collect the circle objects, but there seems to be no value to them, so maybe as part of a challenge, they could increase a score value. Another factor of scoring could just be the time of endurance.

Once I got the gist of the game, it did become a little on the easy side, seeing as the only way to die is to touch the black edges, and as you later progress in the game, you tend to get caught in so many rows of moving blocks that it actually becomes quite difficult to die. Seeing as the game is already called "Sound Crush", I guess it would make sense and add an extra challenge if the player could be crushed by the blocks. Well, maybe that would require some difficulty tweaking and definitely a faster respawn time.

The audio is quite cleverly put to use in this, seeing as the moving blocks are synced up to the different cues in the music so as such, it is a neat idea to have the music start out more minimal and then gradually build up as it increases in difficulty. I thought this was a neat idea, and loved watching the blocks line up with the beats and different musical parts.

I know you warned about flashing backgrounds, and they didn't particularly bother me, except for the fact that they don't really seem to match with the music in the game. A flashing background would seem more appropriate if the music was more upbeat and ravelike, but I didn't really get those sorts of vibes from it. So the mood seemed a bit more disjunct.

After the music stopped playing, I was left with a black background and lots of gold orbs. The music started looping again, but no more blocks were coming. Thus, I'm not sure if this was meant to be an endless game? But since the game is dependent on using the music for its challenge, it might have made more sense for it to be beatable (or at least, make it more obvious that it's beatable). Maybe set levels for a postjam version? :D

Overall, I thought there was a great idea and connection with the music and the audio.

~Random-storykeeper
Dec 27 22:55:00 11h 20m LeDoomDevil This reminds me a lot of the game Bleed. Right click for slow motion seems impractical, though. I would have preferred to see it mapped to a keyboard key, like Shift the way Bleed implements its slow motion mechanic.

The camera being fixed to move when the player moves does make it hard to focus on the oncoming enemies.

Those things aside, I like the graphics and think that the music is pretty interesting and suits the mood. I am digging the designs of those enemies.

~Random-storykeeper
Dec 27 23:06:00 11m 00s Rebirth Really Creepy! I Jumped a bit at the end. It was kinda a pain because the character walked painfully slow.
Dec 27 23:13:00 7m 00s Bridge Brush Rush My character phased through blocks and ended up walking on water for a good portion of the game. Is that supposed to happen? I thought it was pretty funny though.

For the couple runs I did, I enjoyed it. It was funny to see the little characters pound the blocks, and I like the sound effects a lot. I'm not really sure how the words I put in to the screen affect the stages, really, but it was amusing for a bit.

~Random-storykeeper
Dec 27 23:23:00 10m 00s Defend One Room Really fun game. Also really tricky. Would be great if there was more than one tower type, or could upgrade turrets.
Dec 27 23:23:00 0s One Room Pretty interesting, but I think it would have been nice to at least have some sense of indication of completion. I like the zombie sound effects, and the music is strangely calming for a game about defending zombies, which isn't really fitting. The combat controls felt smooth, but the game was rather shortlived overall.

~Random-storykeeper
Dec 27 23:33:00 10m 00s Home Cat In that last level, the mouse did not reappear at all before the time ended. On the plus side, the game's respawn is very quick and the ground movement is smooth. The cat's sprite is cute and chunky, but the blue didn't really look suitable for the room. Some sound effects, music and more levels would have made a nice touch.

~Random-storykeeper
Dec 27 23:38:00 5m 00s Critters The graphics are so cute! Was kinda hard to feed some of the critters.
Dec 28 01:48:00 2h 10m SpaceGirl A nice little challenge, with some cute graphics and nice music. Could use some more levels and mechanics, or random generation if you're going for an endless feel.

-TinyCastleGuy
Dec 28 01:52:00 4m 00s Bruce, the escaping ant The originally submitted version is definitely very finicky and wouldn't allow movement while jumping to the left. I see that this is somewhat fixed in the postjam fix, but it's still a bit unresponsive, especially when I had to make that one jump to the switch. On my subsequent try, it appeared that my shots were no longer killing the spider, so I decided to call it quits.

I mean, I can say that the premise for this game is rather interesting. I do like the narrative, but it didn't seem to go with the art style and music. Speaking of which, because you spend so little time moving to pop off the drain plug, I feel as though music isn't really needed for that first part. Ah well.

I do like how the game starts with a zoomed in view, then pans out further once you remove the drain plug. And the art style, while I'm not really seeing how it fits in with the narrative and music, is very interesting to look at and charming in its own sense.

~Random-storykeeper
Dec 28 01:59:00 7m 00s One Room Personality Test That was an interesting, although confusing experiment. I don't see how my choice of doors reflected how I feel psychologically, but the narration was nice.

-TinyCastleGuy
Dec 28 02:10:00 11m 00s RAINWATER (is free) I especially liked the pixel art and overall feel of the game. Other than that, it was enjoyable enough though I can't see myself playing it for too long. Good effort!

-TinyCastleGuy
Dec 28 02:14:00 4m 00s Last in Time I played until I got stuck on the small island with the yellow mysterious ring. I managed to get there by firing my grappling hook at a ring, but now I can't seem to get back to the mainland. Carrying a skull, grappling hook, two rocks, the mysterious ring, a metal door and a shovel.

Besides this, I can see that the overall mood is set well by the graphics, music and narrative. The music has this calming, but with a mysterious, dark undertone, and that's really interesting. The graphics are also pretty good; I like the designs of the trees in particular. I think maybe some of the puzzles need to be a bit more clear as to what exactly can be done.

~Random-storykeeper
Dec 28 02:19:00 5m 00s Beware Of The Spiders The title screen drew me into this game, and it turned out to be almost as charming. I like that there's two different kinds of spiders, but I still feel like it could use something more to up the challenge.

-TinyCastleGuy
Dec 28 02:53:00 34m 00s Rudum Bare Well, I can definitely say that I have no idea what I was getting into. It was certainly an unexplainable experience. At least the dialogue was amusing.

~Random-storykeeper
Dec 28 03:02:00 9m 00s One Room Factory Amazing graphics, although the camera was in a kinda wonky perspective. It was hard to understand at first, and the controls arent that great. It was fun after i could finally understand it.
Dec 28 03:02:00 0s Hurry Up ! I echo the comments of some of the others. The .exe simply does not open on my Windows 10 device; I even tried to run it as an administrator. The art looks pretty neat, though.
Dec 28 05:01:00 1h 59m One room Ninja I like the idea of starting with the hard level first, then breaking it down to the basics when you die and adding piece by piece as you beat it. That seemed like a great setup for the theme.

The biggest issue I had with the game is that most of my failures came from clunky controls and not the game design itself. Jumping was very hard to execute, and even more difficult to not do twice in a row. Also landing at the ends of platforms often caused me to slide right off them, thus adding further to the frustration.

I did enjoy the narration and laughed a ton when the ninja died. I know I know; I'm sadistic. Sometimes, when the ninja collapsed, he would phase through the boxes and that was pretty funny.

~Random-storykeeper
Dec 28 05:25:00 24m 00s SLIPSTAR I like the voices for the racers, and the racing controls themselves seem responsive and fluid. It's a quick setup, but very shortlived. It needed more levels, more incentive to keep playing perhaps. I guess there is the timer to try and beat your best time, and switching between the racers to hear their voices was somewhat amusing for a bit. The racing portraits don't really fit in with the 3D graphics, but I like the colours of the overall stage itself.

~Random-storykeeper
Dec 28 05:42:00 17m 00s Flower Shop Overall, a very relaxing and fun game to experiment with. I would have liked to see more of a sense of progression, as it just seemed like the same cycle with no real way to complete the game. I'm not sure if this was the case, but it was not obvious and didn't seem possible to record a score.

I like the idea of experimenting with the different flowers, and the dialogue the customers give, even when you don't get their flower orders right. The graphics on the flowers are great. The music, while cute, didn't really feel like it suited the art style, but it definitely has that cute little flower shop vibe.

~Random-storykeeper
Dec 28 06:18:00 36m 00s Robot Retreat! The game is pretty laggy in the later levels. The momentum seems a bit extreme at times and it's difficult to control the air movement when needed. At least, it seems you can control your air movement with the thrusters. I'm not really digging the graphics; they clash too much with the backgrounds. The movement is a bit on the sluggish side for a fast paced game. An instant respawn would have been a lot better, or at least mapping the restart key to a key that you would normally use to play the game, such as the spacebar.

The choice of music was alright; I thought the sound effects were pretty good. The music also doesn't loop, as mentioned a couple comments above. But overall, I had fun for the first few levels.
Dec 28 08:09:00 1h 51m The Crystals of Gingledoof It takes a while to get used to the controls, and once I did, they felt pretty unintuitive. Preference for the keys being closer together and a separate key on the opposite end to deploy a bomb. It also didn't really help that the instructions could only be viewed on the titlescreen rather than the game itself, considering the movement keys were all spread apart from each other.

I found the text to speech amusing and fitting for a game of this title. Chunky pixel art like this could use some chiptunes in the game.

~Random-storykeeper
Dec 28 08:23:00 14m 00s Space Captive Nice concept, really fun game! The controls are really awkward, and took a while to get used to them... but then again, it was in space so it kinda adds to the game. The sounds are minimalistic, but okay.
I encountered a bug, when trying to repair the computer, it always teleported me back to the middle of the station, so it was a pain to get that fixed. But i finally finished in like 14 minutes!
Again, really fun game!
Dec 28 08:37:00 14m 00s Cranky Adventure The progress for passing Day 1 seemed so slow. I got to the part where I had to wait for the 15:00 mark? But it seemed like the time moved so slowly, and the game wouldn't even run in the background. All I could do was the tedious hit-the-spacebar and then press the sequence keys. I felt like there wasn't enough time allocated to that particular part to make it engaging.

The art itself is the most well done aspect of the game. Like the others said, animations of the main character would have really elevated this game further. But the colours and details inside the room look great!

The music is quite repetitive, but decent enough for what you could do with forty-eight hours. There is potential for this game, so I think you have a good start. It's certainly a good feat for a first game jam. :)

~Random-storykeeper
Dec 28 09:02:00 25m 00s Text Me Later I cracked up. I really did. And so did the rest of my team. The humour is solid in this. Good job. Didn't really see the theme in this though. Also the audio, man...it was really something.

XD

~Random-storykeeper
Dec 28 09:48:00 46m 00s Magic Trial It was taking me so long to defeat the rock guy until I realised that the green + values were actually a BAD thing. XD

Overall, I enjoyed it. There's a nice pacing to the gameplay, the controls are generally pretty responsive and weapon switching is simple enough. Graphics are decent, sound effects are good. It seems that when you hug the bottom edge of the area, you move a lot slower, which is a bit odd. Some music would make a nice touch!

~Random-storykeeper
Dec 28 21:49:00 12h 01m The Chore A simple game with good sound effects and a great slow, jazzy background track. Gotta love that piano and major seventh chords.

I really like the graphics, too. The isometric angle makes the straight lines look a tad on the wavy side and it's a bit strange, but not totally distracting.

As for the game itself...it's fun to click around and examine the different items, as well as figure out which items should be cleaned where and when. I wish there was some sort of time indicator or something that would display how long you have to clean the place until your loved one returns home.

Also, dumping the dude for not cleaning the place, geez. How shallow. :P

~Random-storykeeper
Dec 29 08:16:00 10h 27m Fantastical Flora The art really drew me into playing this, and I enjoyed it and unlocked all the possible plants on the clipboard. Like some of the other players, the window extended past the height of my screen and I wasn't actually able to grab the clipboard. I did manage to load the game in fullscreen, however, and it worked fine then.

It's a really great game, with fantastic art. I had a lot of fun mixing and matching different combinations of the components and attempting to grow them. I was confused about how the lighting was to be recorded, so I'm glad the clipboard kept note of the successful attempts. I also liked being able to type in your records in the clipboard itself; it definitely added a sense of completion and progress. The scrolling for the clipboard is a little wonky; to scroll down, I had to scroll up first, then down, but it all worked out in the end.

The music was a bit odd to hear at first, as I had played a browser game called Small Worlds where this music was used for a snowy area, but I think the waltz and mysterious feel help to set a good, wondrous mood for playing the game. Overall, it was right up my alley and I certainly felt like it was time well spent.

~Random-storykeeper
Dec 31 05:24:00 45h 08m Dragon The game was pretty good. I feel like the basic gameplay and ideas it had were great, the only problems were with the way they were executed.

I'll give some thoughts on stuff I noticed in the two different modes below:

Normal section:
- I liked how the pillars worked and how you could use them in so many different ways; you could shoot the black squares at the dragon, jump on top of the pillars to jump to another pillar, or jump into the white powerup to get the minigame. I liked how they were useful but also a hazard at the same time.
- I liked how you had to watch what height you were at to manipulate the dragon to be in the right position for the black square to shoot at him
- Some of the taller pillars felt too hard to jump over; if you get the tallest pillar at the start or get multiple tall pillars in a row, you're not really able to get past them
- It would be nice if there was a bit more invincibility after you get hit; it's easy to lose all your health in several seconds as it is
- Maybe make it slightly easier to hit the black squares without also getting hurt by the red part in the process
- I like the pattern in the floor that appears after you use the minigame a lot, but it looks kind of glitchy and blocks your movement in certain spots

Minigame:

- I like the barriers of lots of little asteroids, but things are moving too fast and it takes too many shots to destroy them for the player to be able to move around them
- It's too easy to get health in this area. Since you lose tons of health to the harsh gameplay in the regular section it kind of balances out, but if you made the regular gameplay fairer you'd have to make it so it was harder to get health here.
- I like how the life system in this area works. If you polished everything up I think it would be really interesting.
- The things that fly at you really fast from above are kind of unavoidable. Maybe if the player got a warning ahead of time about when and where they would appear with a little exclamation mark or something it would be better.
- The things that fly around shooting red bullets are very hard to dodge. It might work in some circumstances, but there's too many other things on the screen at a time for the player to ever be able to dodge it.
- In general this area would be better if things were slower and easier to manage. The player's movement as well is kind of erratic which makes it hard to move around in the cramped area.

Didn't mean to write so much, but this is the first game I'm reviewing. I enjoyed your game, hope you're able to make more in the future.

~ Takeshi64 (on IJZM's account)
Jan 1 06:06:00 24h 42m Rising Sun Wave 24. 248 kills. A minute and forty-seven seconds.

The game is quite fast paced and enjoyable for a bit. The gameplay on its own, as it stands, is shortlived. The difficulty is in the amount of enemies that spawn and cause the book to constantly close, so I kind of like that edge. It gets tiring to spam the spacebar after a while, but there doesn't seem to be a more effective strategy for later games as it is.

~Random-storykeeper
Jan 1 06:23:00 17m 00s One Womb Very hard game. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
I really got into it. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
I came to the convolution this is a fun game ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Jan 1 23:51:00 17h 28m Boomerang Boy Dang, this game is tough! I enjoyed it though. :D I think a game of this difficulty could do without the fadeouts in between replays. A quick respawn adds more incentive to try again and again!

I dig the sound design, and I really like how the enemies can jump and the challenge is retrieving your one boomerang. Not really sure how decimating the enemy with a weapon "saves" them though. :P

Also maybe it could use more pickups for health replenishing or just more health in general? It would allow for a little longer playtime, since there doesn't seem to be any temporary invincibility after death.

~Random-storykeeper
Jan 2 00:04:00 13m 00s Throne Room Hm, interesting little game. I made it to Day 5, but it seems that one small decision tips everything over. I like how you can see the lines of people come up to the king as you are making the decisions, and that your consequences, for the most part, seem to be affected by what the people say. I like the little jokes put into some of the dialogue every now and then.

The only couple of issues I have with the game are that the game doesn't allow you to see the last responses long enough before a new day starts, and the music is a very short loop, which makes it annoying to listen to and focus on making decisions after a while. Aside from that, it's fun to try different decisions and balance your "king"ness from your "people"ness. hm guess that's not really a word. :P

~Random-storykeeper
Jan 2 00:17:00 13m 00s hoplitelite I'm reminded a lot of Nitrome's Rust Bucket, but the stakes seem to be higher - for instance, an attack can span over multiple squares in a single turn. This is interesting and makes simpler levels a lot more challenging.

The sound effects are a tad too squeaky for me, and the art is good. I don't really see the theme in here, but I can get behind your justification a bit, seeing as you never really move out of the view of the screen. Nice level comments btw. :P

~Random-storykeeper
Jan 2 00:30:00 13m 00s Begging and Gambling I like this idea for a game, but think there needs to be more time spent for the gameplay in the minigame, especially with that fancy transition and whatnot. There seems to be some sort of glitch with the audio where a duplicate of the track plays over the current one, and one of the tracks will only stop playing when the window loses focus.

You could definitely expand the gameplay further, maybe even have different jobs or scenarios for this "beggar". Also, the music isn't exactly fitting for the game. It's a little too...romantic and serene. But maybe further expansions to the game would justify it. The beggar can establish a romantic relationship or something haha.

~Random-storykeeper
Jan 2 00:59:00 29m 00s Hephaestus Like others say, the graphics are a little on the small side. It's also a bit much text to read, but the writing itself seems quite well done. It's fun to mix and match different combinations but I wish it was easier to refer to each of the fighters' personalities. I just found it harder to manipulate the battles, as the game expects you to do. I'm not really sure if there is a way to complete the game either, or if the soldiers just keep fighting for eternity.

As for the music, according to my sister, "it sounds like Christmas music!" :P Could use some sound effects.

~Random-storykeeper
Jan 2 01:29:00 30m 00s Unbelievable Deals Of Loving Even the dog came lol

The concept is pretty fun for a bit, since the rounds seem to repeat themselves over and over. I wish the typing was a bit more responsive; I love typing games but not when the cursor can't even keep up with what you type. :P I love how the items just drop into the room and pile up; the 2D look on them makes it look hilarious.

Audiowise, the rain sounds are pretty annoying and distract from the TV music. But overall I think this is a good entry.

~Random-storykeeper
Jan 2 02:15:00 46m 00s GhostGun I'm enjoying the graphics; they remind me a lot of OFF's (particularly the player's). The sound effects are quite interesting as well. The voices are an interesting touch.

It was a quick play, and dodging is fun. Well done.

~Random-storykeeper
Jan 2 20:56:00 18h 41m Kritical Kitchen I liked the concept of this game, and the challenge presented is definitely fair. However, I feel liked it lacked the variety in enemy patterns and in gameplay to keep things interesting. It was cool to have different weapons, though. You could probably create different types of enemies that would be more effective with certain weapons, if you're planning to work more on this game.

-TinyCastleGuy
Jan 2 23:32:00 2h 36m Star Room Pretty fun game, didn't like how dying sends you to the beginning. The controls were kinda weird. The music was nice
Jan 2 23:50:00 18m 00s Smallest Dungeon The effort put into this game really shines through- the art and lyrical music are great and the game feels very polished overall. My only criticism would be that the gameplay can feel repetitive with not much player input, but that's not a huge problem with the added health boosts and upgrades.

-TinyCastleGuy
Jan 2 23:55:00 5m 00s Fishing Rod 3000 Fish AND penguins in a single game? I'm sold!

A really challenging but engaging game. I really like the art, especially for the backgrounds with the lights. Though I guess penguins don't really exist in the north, but WHATEVER I still like it nonetheless. :P

The music, while pleasant, does get rather irritating to listen to, particularly when trying to figure out the later puzzles. This is mostly because it's just a very short loop, so I would suggest expanding on it (puzzle games tend to work best with longer loops).

~Random-storykeeper
Jan 3 00:02:00 7m 00s Shenzhen Manufacturing Co. Fun game, loved the concept! It took a while to start. Really fun!
Jan 3 00:05:00 3m 00s Fish.zip A nice and simple little puzzle game from start to finish. Could use a little more levels and mechanics, but I'm very glad I gave it a try.

-TinyCastleGuy
Jan 3 00:12:00 7m 00s Eternal Repentance Gosh that ending...

I agree that the text should have been a lighter colour or the background against it lighter, but this aside, I thought the writing was fine. The graphics for the ending are really unsettling - that's awesome - and the wallpaper is fantastic looking.

I found the controls to be a bit unresponsive, especially when it came to jumping. Felt like I only jumped when I released the key rather than when I pressed it. Also, some atmospheric audio would be great for a postjam. Anywho, I'm a sucker for storybased games, and I haven't gotten to play that many in this Ludum Dare. I like the idea of having a room that you try to exit but keep ending up in; nice use of tying the theme and having an engaging story. Good stuff!

~Random-storykeeper
Jan 3 00:42:00 30m 00s RooM A boss with that attack and movement should not be in a room with spikes. :P I will give it to you that you at least don't reset the boss' health. I'm guessing this affects the score?

I like the narrative, and it seems like a good setup to something more that you can do with this idea. So I'd be interested to see how things go should you continue developing this game.

~Random-storykeeper
Jan 3 01:01:00 19m 00s Abberbury This game is incredibly laggy and it takes so long for the controls to respond. When I hit the movement keys, I end up moving way farther than I want to go.

I laughed a lot at the fact that I could push the enemies and just attack relentlessly. Also one of the death sound effects sounds like unzipping pants. XD

Graphics are good but the gameplay does not seem to be performing well. Maybe it's an issue with my computer, as it seems the other reviewers haven't had much of an issue with the responsiveness of the controls.

~Random-storykeeper
Jan 3 01:11:00 10m 00s Never-ending Spacemare The game seems to just freeze up upon death, which is a bit of a shame. I don't really like how you can still get attacked when viewing the story or the comms. I am loving the narrative of the story, though. And the art, oh the mood too. Great choice of music and sounds. I love the contrast between the foreground interior of the ship and the outside.

~Random-storykeeper
Jan 3 01:26:00 15m 00s Frosty Arena I like the art style, but the implications of blood do not look appropriate for the deaths in the style you're going for. :P

Like others have said, the movement definitely feels very unresponsive, like there's a huge delay until you get to go again. If the controls were more fluid, they would definitely feel more fitting with the music you used.

~Random-storykeeper
Jan 3 01:35:00 9m 00s Neon no Nakama That was an awesome use of colours, lighting and audio! I love games that can add on different tracks as you progress, and this game executes that beautifully. I did find the movement to be a little on the slow side, but I stuck with it to the very end. I love the additions of the mazes as different lights were collected, and how you had to use the light particles to help you light the way around. Excellent entry!

~Random-storykeeper
Jan 3 01:45:00 10m 00s Planetary Tycoon haha I love the ending pic I got. My employees starved or something and I got an embargo. Good times.

I found the font rather hard to read, so it was tough to understand what was going on and focus on making the decisions. I did like the use of the dogs; it added an edge of humour that was interesting.

I thought the only in-game track I heard was okay, but if the rest of these tracks you've included in the OST link appear in the game based on different fates, you do have some pretty solid audio to go around. The text seems like the biggest issue I have - both with its aesthetic and the proofreading.

~Random-storykeeper
Jan 3 02:47:00 1h 02m Nick Cage Adventure Quest for the One room This entry reminded me of old PC exploration games, but it doesn't have too much else going for it. I mostly ended up lost and confused as to where I was supposed to be going. I also expected the main character to be Nicolas Cage, but that's not exactly a problem :P

-TinyCastleGuy
Jan 3 04:29:00 1h 42m ANN-1E The story was a little hard to follow (possibly because of the English version's translation), but it got pretty interesting and mysterious towards the end. All of the artwork was very well done too, my only recommendation being to have a little more variety and things to accomplish gameplay-wise. But as it stands, it's probably my favorite story-heavy entry I've played.
