A very interesting premise that reminded me of Loop, where performing the wrong action sends you back a few actions and the frustration comes from the overall confusion. I can't exactly say it was the most unexpected thing I've experienced in a game, but I found that this one tended to be more...forgiving and didn't backtrack me as much, which I appreciate a lot.
I noticed a bit of an issue with the game's controls not being locked into the game module itself - that being when you press the down or up arrow keys, the entire browser also scrolls itself. Playing in fullscreen does make this not a problem, though.
Themewise, I can see how this connects. The character is stuck in a simulation and the environment within the room he is in is constantly changing. I can buy that with the way the character stays in place as the room changes scenes.
I like the colours used for the graphics and the minimal pixel style; it sets the mood for this type of scenario. The narration itself is well done too.
If I had a minor quip with this entry besides the controls as mentioned above, it's that I felt the audio was not quite fitting for the scenario. Granted, it is good audio assuming it was created in the 48 timeframe. But I think for a postcompo version, more atmospheric audio may be something to consider focusing on.
