LD44 — Your life is currency

Lifes to Spare by theStartlestare 2019-05-08T10:37:52Z

Great game when it comes to animations - especially the frogs. I kind of felt like the deaths were not really meaningfull apart from the northern puzzle + the teleport puzzle feels like guesswork.

Ocean Ecobalancer by TheCrittersCove 2019-05-08T11:05:30Z

very relaxing, calm... I like that the loss of energy over time is very small - it slows down the pace of the game.

Untitled by Josh6680 2019-10-14T10:33:32Z

It took me a while to figure out that I need to press the >Spacebar< and THEN the arrowkeys. I thought they were supposed to be used simultanously at first. It feels unfinished and sort of raw. Good job that you made it functional in time though

Fields Of Amplidi by godsboss 2019-10-13T14:31:07Z

the rotating controls are interesting, but make it really hard to keep track of where you are and where your workbench and furnace are.

Bathtub Admirals by shide 2019-10-14T10:15:18Z

Shame, it took so long to find a lobby I just gave up :/

You Gotta Be Kitten Me by Silas Reinagel 2019-10-12T20:37:52Z

The intro is a bit long, and there is no option to skip. The game was pretty fun though - the dashing felt right and snappy, though the normal controls were problematic. The fight agains turrets on moving platforms was disorienting and challenging. I'd say more challanging than the final boss - which although had plenty of nifty attacks, didn't really feel satisfying due to it's stillness. The mice were a very cool thing to put at the end too!

Planet 7: No Data by Belonzik 2019-10-14T12:42:36Z

The music and SFX are wonderfull, the minimalistic graphics work really well too. I had a rather hard time finding the scanner though, so I couldn't figure things out without the tutorial... And what fun is a puzzle once you know how to solve it... Overall pleasant and really cool. Congrats on pulling it off as just a duo :)

Necros by TwinGhosts 2019-10-12T20:54:29Z

A really neat one. I adore the pixel art style. The Start/end screen particles were really cool. Particularly enjoyed the big skeletons and their smashy animations. The music was really well made as well. I can only complain that it wasn't really well visible when my necromancer was taking damage and the controls window at the beggining doesn't scale well into 4k resolution.

Necros by TwinGhosts 2019-10-12T21:07:49Z

@twinghosts I think it's just a retro remix of Holst's MARS, or at least reminded me a lot of it. I'm not sure about healthbars as such, I was thinking more about some sort of visual displayed on hit - like the sprite going red for a few frames or something like that

Froog by reBTF 2019-10-14T13:08:17Z

The map generation/loading reminds me a lot of bastion (Looks great!) - also makes the player constantly play attention to the map. The animations of little frogs are really cute too! The tiny fall of the main frog after each jump felt really well - It rally improved the overall feel. The camera rotation was neat and I'm impressed at the amount of different tiles, both at the ground, the sky - there's a ton of them and they all look realy nice. The perspective was a bit tricky when there were platforms at different heights (such as on the last sky level) When it comes to the fire stage - I'm sort of dissapointed that the fire tiles were just a texture, without any fiery-damaging properties (but I understand time was short) I noticed the layers on rocks and grass are a bit visible, so there's this to complain about. I'm blown away you pulled this off all by yourself. Seriously impressed.

P L A G U E T I M E by bruins 2019-10-14T13:27:45Z

Overall a lot of fun! Graphics are cute (the slimes! :3 ) The block placing system is really cool, though the walls feel too expensive to be worth the time. You can mash left click to launch an insane amount of arrows (each dealing full DMG I assume) I went the whole map left to right and there was only a total of 6 iron ores out of 8 needed for a sword, so it was impossible for me to unlock it :/

Entertain Your Damn Self by RedHermit 2019-10-12T19:39:48Z

The window resizing is so weird at first. After 3 resizings I finally realized it's intentional, and actually preatty neat. I liked the little POP sound effects. The bassline is a bit too quiet in my oppinion, and I feel like the window should resize a few more times before stopping the growth.

Blueprint Blast by Tui 2019-10-12T19:49:59Z

The cardboard style is bloody marvelous! Great idea to keep the designs of players as other racers - to whoever made the stockmarket car - thank you. I'm pretty impressed at how other cars are almost capable of actually driving. I assume there was a lot of inspiration from HillClimbRacing, I liked the addition of Nitro, though the car rotation was.. somewhere between unresponsive and slow. I still had a blast though.

Cuber by BankSho 2019-10-14T11:00:36Z

For a first jam entry - what's important is - it mostly works!

Monks Can Into Space by skill347 2019-10-12T23:23:00Z

got to 10k score on my second try. The song game is nice, the meditation game is wonderfull (the popping animation is brilliant). I couldn't get the plant watering game however.

Also what's with the space, since all those things aren't really space specific?

Alone by Harksa 2019-10-12T23:46:36Z

Oh the mood! The mood was incredible! The trail effect felt good and the colour/light usage was brilliant. The hitboxes on the enemy and the player felt a bit off though and I couldn't really figure out the very high jumps, so there's that. Normally I would complain about a floatiness in a platformer, but didn't really bother me in yours.

Survive in Neon lights by HakierGrzonzo 2019-10-12T23:14:47Z

@redhermit yeah we planned on captioning the buildings, but didn't manage to throw them in in time :/ The zoom is actually in the game (scroll wheel), just takes a while to scroll out

Survive in Neon lights by HakierGrzonzo 2019-10-13T19:47:50Z

@mikeliosus thanks for such plentiful feedback! We're adding the building captions in the next build :) We're already working on fixing the bugs and I did a bit of rebalancing, so that the game is more challenging.

Survive in Neon lights by HakierGrzonzo 2019-10-14T12:49:13Z

@mikeliosus I think the biggest problem are lag spikes when dozens of enemies are loaded at once. Sadly, not much we can do there. I'd say that Deleting the particle emmiters once they stopped emmiting helped minimizing the continous lag. Also we avoided the extremally laggy .Find command, so that helped too. I think the timer which made the blood spills fade away over time is malfunctioning, so fixing that would remove a lot of lag-causing objects. Generally speaking - probably moving some memory heavy functions from FixedUpdate to a coroutine called every 1/4th of a second or so would help in most cases.

Survive in Neon lights by HakierGrzonzo 2019-10-18T17:12:57Z

@chuchuw on one hand I agree that a seamless tutorial is the best, though I wouldn't say it would be easy to pull off properly in this case. Nonetheless thanks for feedback, I agree that walls of text are awfull :)

Desert by Pedroso 2019-10-13T19:42:53Z

As stated, it's hard to call it a game as such... It's not much fun, but I understand that fun wasn't the goal here. I adore games that focus on the emotional layer and carry more meaning than plain "shoot everything that moves" I don't really think that it's possible to pull one of these masterpieces in such a short time. Your game is without a doubt the most powerfull experience I've seen on this LudumDare, but it comes short when it comes to maintaining the players attention. It feels monotonous and plain boring after picking up a few items. Nonetheless it is impressive.

Find the Controls by NunoRibeiro 2019-10-12T23:35:08Z

The backgroouuuund was not helping at all :/ The one way/two way movement felt a bit underdeveloped, also a few enemies glitched at the edges of platforms. The sound effects were nice though and the aesthetic of the power-up orbs really felt powerful. I also didn't feel lost, which is often an issue in the whole metroidvania kind of games.

The Unknown Nude by romes 2019-10-14T14:13:04Z

I mixed excercising with meditation in about 50/50 ratio, but the merchant didn't want to sell me anything untill I died. So much for fun I guess  Not really much in the way of gameplay as there's pretty much just 2 things to do, so I didn't really feel compelled to play. I didn't experience any major glitches though, so that's something to be proud of on your first entry :) . Don't worry, no first entry is incredible. Keep improving and try again on the next jam - you will be much better on your second go, trust me.

Redbeard's Return by civmaniac 2019-10-12T19:31:32Z

Overall a cute experience. The art style really worked here. The floating boards were a nice detail too. As others said before, the music loop was way too short and it got repetitive very fast... Other than that, the game doesn't go full screen properly in my 4k monitor, so I couldn't see 1/3rd of the screen on the left side.

Started from the bottom by thor1 2019-10-14T14:24:20Z

What was that?! I have no idea, but it was hilarious ^^ My notes: >the guitar hero'ish minigame's controls were really confuzing - maybe go for QWER instead of WSAD? >The rap battle... i had no idea what was even happening The graphics were all over the place - it felt like just random things thrown together, which although fits the overall crazy theme, feels just... wrong. Anyway probably the most innovative/humorous thing I saw during this jam, so you pulled this off well for the first jam. Next time I recommend getting a small team for a jam - you can do a lot more this way ^^

LD46 — Keep it alive

Crashlanded by Teh_Thanos 2020-04-30T14:23:30Z

Solid game overall I think the game would really benefit from an improved balance, since it's basically a resource management game. Getting the atmosphere right was really expensive and didn't seem to change anything. Especially the atmosphere impacts the health decrease and there's just an option to heal the alien - so the atmosphere is kind of redundant :/ The graphics were solid, though the audio loop felt way too short or just monotone. You nailed the theme, so good job there ^^

Cells by Gaming Night 2020-05-04T12:49:04Z

All 5* reviews from me. The sound and graphics were brilliant and the gameplay was engaging. I'd expect that from a big team, not a single entry. The balance is great too. For future expansions, I guess some sort of synergy system between different cell types could be interesting, or perhaps that if you connect multiple cells of the same type with each other, they are boosted.

Save the Earth Initiative by AljosaCT 2020-05-04T12:08:35Z

Great idea with protecting the earth. Juggling the different tasks was pretty fun ^^. The explosions of asteroids were a nice touch. Some more sound effects would be cool, but it's solid as is :)

Chip and Run by Elektroney 2020-05-04T13:18:59Z

Ridiculous idea - good job there. I liked the audio and style, but the level design was somewhere between hard and confusing - I'd advise to work on the layouts and play testing a bit more in the future.

The Spark by Le Don 2020-04-30T14:37:01Z

Now this one. This one is fun! The stealth gives the game a lot of tension. Graphically it's really solid. It's not pretty, but the minimalist aesthetic works really well (I appreciate the shadows ^^ ). My only two complaints? The enemies have no cones of vision, which would really help in my oppinion, and you can complete the game pretty much ignoring the tables completely. Still, I had a lot of fun. Great job!

Judging from the screenshots, the game looks really well made - I like the wood mesh especially. Sadly, I'm running a 4k screen, which seems to create some issues. Nonetheless, your screenshots look cool :)
