LD46 — Keep it alive

Princess Ribbon by Goutye 2020-04-21T01:13:21Z

Charming little game with a good amount of levels to showcase ideas. Enjoyed how they progressively showed off more mechanics, however the levels themselves didnt really feel like they were getting more difficult. The graphics weren't super, but the simple music was nice. 7/10

A drop of light. by cowa 2020-04-21T03:56:36Z

Nice art and simple game, very good. I find it odd you used the space bar for picking up an object though, since im used to that being for jumping.

HOLY SHIT I accidentally shot my friend in the stomach by unima9000 2020-04-21T02:08:58Z

The character art here is great, i really love the style - I wish the other objects in the game were made to teh same standard. The mechanics were really finnicky, i had to repeatedly try and click drag something for it to register, apart from this it was quite a funny looking game! (also the black canvas that shows up after you complete a level doesnt fit the whole screen, theres about a pixel of height on the bottom)

Tiny Fragments by Daniel Moreno 2020-04-23T17:19:23Z

Small reminder to make sure you get your own "ratings given" up to at least 20!

This game is quite fun and i love the unique card-like mechanics!

MACHINA by Harry Alissavakis 2020-04-21T02:32:32Z

Very impressive game, thought the difficulty curve between level 2 and 3 is quite high, especially with the rng cards every turn.

Spirit cave by smiley 2020-04-21T02:47:23Z

Pixel art and music were very nice, though im not too keep on the mechanics - looking after the crystal became quite tedious, I dont feel like it fits mechanically with the platforner genre. Very good attempt though!

Lucid Drifter by taxiderby 2020-04-21T02:01:14Z

Great game, much more polished than others I've played here. I found myself wrestling with the controls, but i assume thats because im terrible at this type of game. Nice sound effects, nice art, and i really liked the level transition clouds. Eventually i caught on that at the end level looped itself (or at least it felt it did). A solid 8/10

Lich Clicker by Fictions 2020-04-21T00:35:47Z

I really like the art and sounds, some mechanics felt pretty useless though - like how the temple thing does 2 damage every second, not much point in a game that doesnt last long enough to warrant putting the souls in

Theft of the Inferno Heart by MarkoPoloDev 2020-04-21T01:29:43Z

Really solid game mechanics and pixel style. I dont know if this was intentional or not, but you can move the heart around, practically allowing you to speed run it to the finish, but also if its bumped off course its likely to get stuck and needs pushing off of obstacles.

Pylorus by Five Side Studios 2020-04-21T04:08:59Z

Fun game, though when the humans attack they can push you into water, which pretty much perma stucks you.

Pals 'til Death by DanyVk 2020-04-21T03:19:34Z

The start was pretty funny, and so was the concept of the game. Whenever the player hit the ceiling while jumping he would go a bit funny for a second or too

MegaCorn - Strategy / Economy Simulator by KittRangers 2020-04-21T00:57:23Z

Interesting concept, done a good job with copying the communist art style.

Reasonably Safe Working Conditions by CooperJKnapp 2020-04-21T01:00:44Z

This concept looks like it'd be really fun to do with friends! Alone though i cant offer much response other than it looks fun

Blobbysitter by Jake Marks 2020-04-21T03:43:55Z

Funny and quirky game, i love the voice acting.

Dragon Egg by Heiach 2020-04-21T03:47:45Z

Levels get harder as you progress which is nice, though sometimes the egg would glitch out and move away on its own, and the loading screen after dying is unusually long.

∀nts - The virtual ant farm you never knew you needed... by scabbage 2020-04-21T03:27:48Z

It's a shame you we'rent able to finish it, nonetheless what is there is good! (though my ants have a habit of floating through the undug dirt). Also it didnt stop raining so my ants house just flooded completely.

Orbshot by Michael Horst 2020-04-21T03:15:59Z

Nice simple concept, nice relaxing music, the only gripe i have is how the distance arrow bobs up and down when im dragging it out - game design wise the player needs to be able to see how far they're going to push themself. I'd suggest instead making the arrow change between two colours. Apart from that, pretty nice and fun game (you've even got a menu!)

Rogue Janitor by stolen_biscuit 2020-04-21T00:51:52Z

Charming little game, reminds me of Viscera cleanup (which i loved playing)

Medieval Messenger by Courtmac 2020-04-21T02:38:43Z

Nice and simple game with pretty decent pixel graphics, the fire lizards are pretty annoying though, and the bat flies for the top of your head rather than in front of you, making it difficult to hit as the sword doesnt slash that high (bat also glitches out a bit when directly over you)

Blue by tri11paragon 2020-04-21T01:20:58Z

Like the music and the idea, wish there was more content to explore. The collision was a bit finnicky, but overall i liked the feel of the game!

Potato Down! by Naomi 2020-04-21T10:37:26Z

Nice and simple, albeit a tiny bit glitchy. I would add the ability to allow the player to move backwards as well as forward, but have the camera fixed moving forward (akin to mario) as there were countless times where i had accidentally overshot where the potato was going to be, only to not be allowed to move back (which made my character slide forward). If you did this, I think you'd have a pretty solid mini game!

Deep Root by Fever Dream Johnny 2020-04-21T00:45:05Z

Fun and pretty game, it was a bit confusing what was going on though, as the tutorial messages left my screen quicker than i could read them.

SaverTato by LebbyFoxx 2020-04-21T08:58:37Z

I understand you didnt have much time to make this, but at the very least you did manage to get the theme on point, well done!

Karot Fetus by Dawide 2020-04-21T03:04:01Z

I like the story idea quite quirky, and i just love the pixel art. Thought the core mechanics were nice, it would of been nicer if there was more there than "put this in mouth, dont put this other thing in mouth" until you get bored. 7/10

AntOhNo by Rednaxelus 2020-04-21T02:57:35Z

A very simplistic game, but to the point for the theme. GJ!

Boid Survivor by Pumpkikin 2020-04-21T01:16:50Z

@tri11paragon building mac and linux builds now, though i cant promise they'll work as intended.

Boid Survivor by Pumpkikin 2020-04-21T01:48:55Z

@tri11paragon all done for you (hope it works!)

Boid Survivor by Pumpkikin 2020-04-21T02:49:55Z

@grinnij That crash is unfortunate - though, if i hazard a guess i'd say it was to do with the players shooting mechanics, logic isnt my strong point and i ran into a lot of issues with arrays out of bounds around that part, I barely made it stable earlier today.

Boid Survivor by Pumpkikin 2020-04-21T04:13:31Z

@RooftopDog were you on the windows build or linux/max? enemy blue guys should get all their shots back after they've ran far enough away from you. (At the very least did losing all your lives kill you)

Boid Survivor by Pumpkikin 2020-04-21T08:40:53Z

@shaolin-dave ah I'm using the most upto date unity 2019,i don't own a mac so I wouldn't be able to tell what's wrong - the source file is included however so if you have unity then you can play it in the editor (though I know it wouldn't be the same). Oh I didn't realise I set it to Windows on here, I'll change that - thanks

@tarnes ah yeah the game is built around the resolution of 1920x1080,i forgot to force resolution scaling (and its too late to update now). Good shout on the clipping plane though, I didn't think about that!

Boid Survivor by Pumpkikin 2020-04-21T08:44:27Z

@xeno-software ah yeah, the music was added literally 20 minutes before I uploaded the project, it was the only music I had on hand. I really really wanted to put eerie music in it instead, just didn't have time.

Boid Survivor by Pumpkikin 2020-04-21T17:46:04Z

@png Ah shucks, so it turns out when i was patching some bugs during the extra hour I managed to turn off player death. I'll fix that bug in a little bit

Boid Survivor by Pumpkikin 2020-04-21T22:24:07Z

Just uploaded a couple bug fixes in relation to whats been mentioned here (par from the random crash comment)

Boid Survivor by Pumpkikin 2020-04-21T23:08:50Z

@stolen-biscuit thanks for your feedback! If your health reaches 0 the application shuts, if you had full health then the random crash was likely caused by my botched job at fixing some array issues (it happens semi-rarely, so I've resorted to just giving up fixing it for now)

Boid Survivor by Pumpkikin 2020-04-22T10:31:19Z

@shaolin-dave Thanks for figuring this out for people! If its not too much trouble could you link a fixed version of the mac game? And i'll upload it inplace of the current mac ver on my itch.

Boid Survivor by Pumpkikin 2020-04-23T11:09:23Z

@flookz @eckkert Thanks for the feedback! As stated in the description, if you loose all your life then the application will shut itself down (hence why no error message). This is because i didnt get time to code a death/restart system, sorry!

Boid Survivor by Pumpkikin 2020-04-27T09:51:29Z

@bjornkri thanks for the feedback! the game is about surviving as long as possible and managing your boids so you dont use them up(you earned more by killing enemies), so once the boids are all gone there is no way to get them back!
