LD56 — Tiny Creatures

Chanterune by Kerdelos 2024-10-13T20:41:47Z

Amazing game. It actually reminded me of the Shantae for the game boy color due to how you have to use directional input to complete other actions! I really enjoyed the art and sound of the game as it pulled everything together nicely and created an atmosphere that reminded me somewhat of the melancholy of games like hollow knight. The use of the theme was nice, but really kicked in during the boss fight. I can sing praises on nearly every part of this game. Great work to everyone. 5 stars across the board.

Critical Mass by Almax 2024-10-13T21:00:22Z

I'm kinda sad there wasn't more. Once the population hit 6, there just wasn't more I could figure out to do. There is definitely the bones of something here though. The art and music of the game is lovely though.

Karma Keepers by Nazariglez 2024-10-11T19:18:55Z

A nice game. It reminded me of a farming game of sorts. The game is pretty rough in the early game as the minions you have do so little. I wasn't even able to start making much progress until getting the Eternal Grace upgrade. The game also took a very long time to win just due to how much was on the screen. But these small gripes aside, I had a good time, and I'm personally very impressed on the performance of the game. Hats off to the coding! Good work overall!

Ah, the classic catapult game. Reminds me of good times playing flash games. While there wasn't anything too innovative with this, it was still a great time. I managed to get to 295.43 on my best run. I absolutely have to give my complements to the art and sound of the game. Both were very charming! Nice work.

Tossed and Found by SleepyStudios 2024-10-13T19:50:19Z

While it was on the simple side, I still enjoyed the puzzles. The leaderboard was a good touch too. It was easy to soft lock on the first level with crabs, but the restart function solved all of that. Basic but solid.

Algie's Adventure by Jonathan Fischer 2024-10-08T19:41:34Z

Very pretty game, both in terms of music and visuals. Had to turn all of the settings to minimum to be able to play it though. The actual gameplay felt a bit clunky, due to anything with an animation locking you into that action for the full duration, even after the effect of the action was finished. It could use some optimization as well a little work in the code to make actions blend together better, but this was otherwise a nice experience.

Three Tiny Toblins by NightmaresDev 2024-10-08T23:12:02Z

Very charming game. I love puzzle platformers, and this game satisfied that part of me that used to play flash games all the time. I also encountered a bug that forced me to reset (box landed on Kort) but I had a good time. I also love that all of the characters made their own sound effects, it was very charming! Stor is my fav of the Trio! Great work!

Hardened Chitin by Stames 2024-10-08T21:05:32Z

Very well made if a bit simple. I was expecting there to be card mechanics, that's on me though for not realizing they were just cool buttons. The gameplay is a little simple as you can easily just spam the ant's attack to win, but I liked it and the game has a lot of charm. Y'all did very good!

Flea Patrol by Sviborg 2024-10-10T21:24:54Z

Simple but effective. While I the game was meant to have a puzzle aspect to it, most of the levels can be brute forced pretty easily. Still, the artstyle was great and it was still fun to play.

Love the idea. The camera angle and the AI were a little weird to get used to, but the gameplay was very good. I love all of the detail that went into the destructible items. A bit tricky, but overall a nice, quick experience.

Astral Plunge by Adam Gallina 2024-10-13T21:27:58Z

Loved the visual effect you had for the tunnel! The game itself was a tad boring at first, but once the difficulty picked up, it was actually pretty fun. Something to measure the progress would have been a nice addition, but for the strict time limit you had, you did very well!

Bugtallion by goodwincek 2024-10-09T21:38:21Z

This was a good time! A simple but well made concept that became something pretty fun by the time I figured it out. I'd love to have a 2 player option at some point, as this looks like the kind of simple fun game you can hop on with a buddy and play for a while. I do wish the AI was smarter, as there isn't much replay value right now due to its low intelligence. Great stuff! Another favorite of the jam.

Tiny Tiny Tribes by James Wilson 2024-10-09T20:03:46Z

This was very well made! The game did seem to break when I got far enough (got stuck in the shop), but I had a good time! the art and sound were great and really tied the whole thing together. Fantastic job here!

Grablin Battle Festival by HaaYaargh 2024-10-10T22:04:17Z

This is probably one of the best games of the jam. The use of the theme is great, the audio fit well, the art is nice, the mechanics are simple yet still have depth, and there is actual skill needed to beat the game! A fantastic entry for sure. Though to show some fairness, I did have an issue with telling the units apart due to the random nature of their cosmetics. While the variations were a welcome touch and all looked great, perhaps reigning them in so certain units pick from a couple of looks rather than all of them? I couldn't tell who was who past the archers. But, small nitpick aside, this is a favorite of mine from this jam and I think more people need to give it a shot.

Beards, Hats, Guns! by Alexkik1515 2024-10-08T19:02:28Z

I couldn't figure out how to play. The bullets never seemed to have any effect, the enemies(?) never did much besides crash into each other and run away, and when the beat dropped on the music, I just started flying upwards forever. Is there a particular way I'm supposed to play this, or is the game unfinished?

Let it Bee by Skeltor 2024-10-08T22:48:10Z

Fantastic work all around. The music was nice without being annoying, the art was good (even if everything had its own artstyle), and the gameplay was wonderful. I had a very fun time exploring all of the interactions in the game. I must lament your choice of color usage though, as making the movement markers green and p[lacing them on a green background made it very tricky to see where I could go. Outside of a visual bug here or there, the game ran great as well. Fantastic work! One of my favorites I've tried thus far!

MICROSLAYER by jellyfishhunter 2024-10-08T18:56:33Z

Simple, but nice. The music was also pretty good! The visuals got a bit busy in some sections, as it became a little difficult to see the player character under all the pixels above them, but it wasn't that big of a deal. Nice work overall.

Hivemind by NeoAwesomeon 2024-10-08T21:12:59Z

Wish I could reply directly, but thanks for the comments so far! I unfortunately didn't have time to optimize everything, so some lag spikes can still occur. However, the game caps the number of spawns at a limit of 30 enemies, so the game wont break, but may need better hardware to avoid lagging.

Not sure what to do about faster controls for the player, outside of speeding up the minions more. I wanted to have the minions be slower and less effective than the main body, but I could see if that makes them somewhat unsatisfying to use outside of command mode.

Also, there is a spin attack that doesn't need to be aimed. Just right click!

Also also for anyone who reads this you can animation cancel by using Command Mode, lets you "bee" more agile! Haha!

DRONE BRIGADE by Gaalsien 2024-10-09T00:05:19Z

This game is good. You have to grind a lot in the first level to stand a chance in the later ones though, as you literally don't have the time to do everything necessary to survive without plenty of upgrades. Everything worked well, even if it was tricky to figure out. Art style was also very well executed. As great as the game was, I have to lower my rating for the use of any AI generated content in the game, as I personally feel it goes against the spirit of what a game jam is.

Candyland by GonnaFlyMethod 2024-10-13T21:48:44Z

While the game was cute and the art was charming, it took a couple tries for me to understand just what was happening. It doesn't seem possible to survive for too long, as you can get swarmed pretty fast. Honestly if the enemies either had some more variation to them or the game ramped up a bit slower, this would probably get a higher ranking in my book. Only real problem was just the game feeling one note. Good job overall.

Stolen Colors by The Spinning Sofa 2024-10-10T23:22:18Z

A lot of my sentiments of are mirrored by what others have said. I think there is genuinely something very fun here, but the brutal difficulty of the game and the ridiculous amount of luck required to win gets me very frustrated. Level 2 is possible if you get lucky and the boss doesn't use their stomp more than once, but the second time I made it to the level to boss, it just stomped 3 times in a row and everyone either died or had nothing left but a single hit. Besides those factors though, you genuinely have something great here. Y'all should be proud of making something this technically impressive under the constraints, and I think this is one of the most well put together games of the jam. Looking forward to that balance update.

WOE

PLAGUE BE UPON YE

I can't deny the simple pleasures of throwing guys at other guys. Took a bit to figure out what exactly I was doing, and I still don't know what makes the different colored minions special, but I had a good time! The game was a tad one note, but it didn't overstay its welcome, and the designs were great! Final level looked very cool, though I wish awesome DJ robot (I think that's what it was) did more.
