this game wuas actually sick, i loved all the different creatures wandering around and i espesh liuked all the tiny unique dudes that you can throw - it didn't seem liuke the enemies could hurt my crew but it was still fun to toss them and stuff. o and the boss scene was awsome!!

I LOVE THROWING LITTLE GUYS!!!!!!!!!!

serenitydev 2024-10-08 20:59

Thank you very much for the feedback @darefus! My top priority going forward with the project is making the enemies do more damage, as it takes way too many hits for them to actually defeat your creatures. Glad you enjoyed the little dudes and boss animations that @familyneighbor designed!

verbante 2024-10-08 21:37

Incredible visual style: colors, models, animations are on point!

neoawesomeon 2024-10-08 21:39

WOE

PLAGUE BE UPON YE

I can't deny the simple pleasures of throwing guys at other guys. Took a bit to figure out what exactly I was doing, and I still don't know what makes the different colored minions special, but I had a good time! The game was a tad one note, but it didn't overstay its welcome, and the designs were great! Final level looked very cool, though I wish awesome DJ robot (I think that's what it was) did more.

serenitydev 2024-10-08 22:25

Thank you for the kind words @verbante! @familyneighbor definitely did a great job with the models of our creatures and bots!

serenitydev 2024-10-08 22:26

Thank you very much for the thorough feedback @neoawesomeon, it's greatly appreciated! @familyneighbor was quite proud of his animations for the final boss robot, unfortunately I didn't have time to properly program what we had in mind. We'll definitely put more focus on it as we continue work with the game.

This game was fantastic! I love the mechanic of throwing your little creatures at the enemies, it really felt like as the game progressed I had to be more careful with how many I throw towards a specific enemy. Gave me a lot of Pikmin vibes in that way and I mean that in the highest of praise. Fantastic job!

serenitydev 2024-10-09 03:16

Thank you so much @monado! I appreciate the kind words, we definitely had Pikmin in mind when making the game and derived inspiration from it as we worked.

shadowbrain 2024-10-09 10:57

Played through it entirely, mainly because I felt the pikmin influence a bit (which my game was also influenced by) and it looked neat, but it was very repetitive.

Was there supposed to be sound? I didn't hear any.

Conveyance was kind of poor, do different colored guys actually have different abilities?

I would've loved to see a little more autonomy in the little guys so I wasn't stuck clicking one guy over and over to kill it, I'd have preferred if I could just click a few guys onto one enemy and move on, trusting they'd take care of them.

There was also essentially no challenge, once the enemy was knocked down, they'd just stay down.

Also, when going back to the "hub" I would often mistakenly re-enter the same level, you should probably 180 the player so holding W doesn't just restart the same level.

Overall decent effort! Definite room for improvement (And sound! Unless my copy just didn't have any...)

Major thanks for the thorough analysis @shadowbrain! I appreciate some good critiques and you've stated them perfectly.

Most of them can be summed up by poor time management and feature creep. The creatures slowly get stronger: the primary colors being the weakest, secondary being the mid range, and brown being a mix of all the colors being the strongest. We have a lot more planned for this project that will tackle all the issues listed, one of which being the addition of sounds and music. Thank you again for such a wonderful and thorough critique!

alexis-brochec 2024-10-09 17:50

Really cool pikmin like. However i didn't really see the impact of the different creatures, just had to spam them and enemies could not fight back. Really cool art work and animation.

Great job

serenitydev 2024-10-09 18:16

Thank you for the feedback and kind words @alexis-brochec! I definitely should've added a bit more difficulty to the combat, that will be sure to come in later updates when we move the game to itch.io.

stormburpee 2024-10-10 11:07

I love the concept of throwing little creatures at enemies to take them down! The visuals are really well done, and the game has a lot of charm. It definitely has a Pikmin vibe, which is always a plus in my book. The boss scene was particularly awesome, and I had fun just tossing the creatures around. That said, it would be great if the enemies were more challenging—right now, it feels a bit too easy. Also, I wasn’t quite sure what made the different colored creatures special. Overall, great job, and I’m looking forward to seeing more updates!

lj-wei 2024-10-11 03:39

Love the little guys they are so strangely cute... Spent much time just clicking the mouse and wandering outside the levels, but the gameplay of throwing little figures at enemies is quite fun (the enemies are also very cool btw).

serenitydev 2024-10-11 05:33

Thank you for the thorough review @stormburpee, it's much appreciated! We'll definitely be giving plenty more challenge and fleshing out the mechanics of the distinct creatures far more in the itch.io release.

serenitydev 2024-10-11 05:35

Thank you for the kind words @lj-wei! Definitely quite proud of the work @familyneighbor put forward in making the creature and enemy designs for this jam.

bstabuu 2024-10-12 22:09

Do you like robogirls? I like robogirls too. I didn't understand what different colored minions do so I was simply burying any enemy I came upon under a horde of little alien helpers. The final room had a real menacing vibe with what I assume was the robot boss.

orbitaldot 2024-10-13 14:46

I really really love the player character's design :D Fun little game!

serenitydev 2024-10-14 00:31

Thank you for the feedback @bstabuu, and yes I would indeed say that robogirl designs are great, it was my main model contribution for the project and I am quite proud of the design. Glad you enjoyed the final boss designed by @familyneighbor as well, Much more variation to come between the various creatures in later builds!

serenitydev 2024-10-14 00:32

Thank you for the kind words @orbitaldot! I was very proud of the design when I made it, definitely going to revise and improve it further in later builds.

Cons "-" * No music, which is very sad. It's not compo, so it's even weirder.

* The game has little variety compared to the length. Three locations I just have to throw figures at enemies.

* The figures have different colors, but what do I get from that? I can't control what color I throw (or can I? Need a tutorial).

* The controls are unintuitive. The whole problem is the field of view. If the field of view was from above, it would make sense to tie the crosshair to the floor. But it just doesn't make sense in this perspective. I thought I had to throw figures, and then aimed in the air. It took me a while to figure out what I was doing wrong.

Pros "+" * Very interesting visuals, I like the pixelation and simple geometry of the environment. Definitely a like.

* The repetitiveness is also a good thing about the game. It's small, it's simple. You get pleasure from defeating the enemy.

* The enemies here have a very interesting design. The last room is especially interesting in terms of design. You should have made 2-3 levels, but with a design like the last one. It would have been a banger. I like the robot tower. Or whatever you call it?

Despite the cons of the game, I was satisfied and had fun, which is strange if you read my review. Remember that a good review of a game is a sign of quality.

serenitydev 2024-10-15 23:15

Thank you for the thorough review @buzzydev, I adore good feedback and you've provided some good points here. A lot of the issues discussed can be summed up by running out of time and these issues will be fixed in future updates.

You actually can switch which creature you throw, if you hit spacebar you can cycle through them, however with there being only minor differences between the creatures in this version I decided to avoid giving the player too much info on that as it would've just distracted them from everything else.

We'll definitely take notes of the comments you've made, thank you again for such an insightful review!
