Managed to beat it first try! :v:
Very impressive for a 2-day project! Cool concept to fly through a tunnel of tiny (and cute!) creatures - but I'm more impressed that it's actually as fun as it sounds. I'm not sure if the short render distance is a computational limitation or a deliberate design choice but I think it works in the game's favour - there's a sense of mystery and exploration as you play.
Not a lot of mechanical depth in this one but that's OK - the game is the perfect length for its depth. That's a hard balance to strike but you nailed it!
I do wish it ran a bit better and it probably wasn't a good idea to put _that many_ tiny creatures on the screen - but it wasn't problematic enough to be unplayable and it was definitely amusing to see the school of aliens fly across the screen.
Fantastic work overall! Loved it!
@bad-fetus glad you had fun! The short render distance was more of a design choice, but it definitely helped a lot for getting the particle effects to run at a decent speed. I would definitely agree that putting that many tiny creatures on screen didn't help, but good to know it was still decently playable lol
The game is very entertaining, with sound it would be much better.
I really like the idea of testing the controls on the main menu. Loved the little creatures and the mood of the endless mist of squids. Also the dead animations its great!
Very cool game! Simple but fascinating idea turned out to be unexpectedly exciting. 😄 Death animations and atmosphere of fog from creatures give the game a special charm. I would like to hear the soundtrack, it would add depth, but even without it the game leaves a great impression! Great work for a project in 2 days! 👏
It's pretty satisfying to just fly around.
Multiple times I though I found some kind of safe-spot only to be overwhelmed by squids (they are cute btw )
I think having sound would make it a bit better, but hey this is a game jam.
Super beautiful and mesmerizing visuals. Definitely pushing what can be run on web haha. My only complains are that I wish there was music and I don't like how the asteroids are black. It makes them super hard to spot.
Wow, that's a cool game! I liked the visuals and how tension arises closer to finish, good job!
The game wass lagging as hell, but then I found out that my laptop was in power saving mode :face_palm: I turend on performance mode and beat it on the next try
Love the Squiddle and Squiddle-Worm(?) animations, the look really good!
Visual is very beautifull!
The little squid sticking to my windshield was a delightful surprise, I love that as a way to represent your ship damage!
Wow, the swarm of squids is super terrifying! I'm on an older computer, so I had to download the native build for this to be playable. I also didn't realize the game was beatable at first, maybe some sort of progress indicator would help there.
Neat take on the theme, I wish there was some suspenseful music to hype the player up or some indicator on how far the player has gone. Also the game does have some slowdown on browser. still good tho!
Loved the visual effect you had for the tunnel! The game itself was a tad boring at first, but once the difficulty picked up, it was actually pretty fun. Something to measure the progress would have been a nice addition, but for the strict time limit you had, you did very well!
@henk @neoawesomeon I definitely agree about the progress indicator, that was next on my list if I had 1 more hour to develop, but sadly ran out of time, glad you liked it though!
great effort for a solo project! Things i think need work: it's very hard to run and having energetic sounds and music would make the experience much more fun! But I do understand the time limitations :))
