LD47 — Stuck in a loop

Permafrost Pirouette by Junber 2020-10-07T01:06:47Z

I liked this a lot. I launched it without reading the description and the expectation of an ice skating game being shattered by the gladiator spawn made me laugh. Gameplay was enjoyable. One small complaint is that the camera movement started hurting my eyes, but that's more an accessibility issue than a game design thing.

Nice work!

Never Gonna Lose Again by harusame 2020-10-06T14:33:31Z

Amazing graphics and good gameplay. Well done!

A Short Detour by Kyrio 2020-10-06T17:39:09Z

Really great aesthetic!

For-Ever by freso 2020-10-06T16:58:00Z

I like the core concept. The visuals and sound are pretty good. My biggest issue was with the progress loss. Having 2 mechanics that cause the player to replay levels (hitting a spike, as well as the full reset of the loop completing) seemed like too much to me. Pair that with the increase in loop speed after getting sent back a stage, and I ran out of patience really quickly.

Mission ∞ by ryzy27 2020-10-06T16:29:05Z

Very nice graphics! Like others have said, the fog of war is distracting. The slow, bubble projectiles have a weird feel to them, but that could be easily fixed.

Bype by GameWolves 2020-10-06T17:19:36Z

I really like the mechanic. Graphics are great. Main criticism is that the start is a little slow. Also, it might be interesting if you had to move the cannon position with the claw.

Nice Work!

You booped me! D: by detectiveLosos 2020-10-07T01:59:52Z

Fun game. You've got a nice minimalist thing going and the controls feel good. Nice work

TimeSplitters 4 by BlueCalx 2020-10-06T15:25:39Z

I was having a hard time until I realized that you could break at any point (I only skimmed the instructions, whoops). After that the difficulty seemed fine. There's a somewhat intuitive ordering of breaks based on distance you need to travel to each point. I think that a little hand holding while introducing breaks would help, but it's not mandatory.

Anywho, great game! I liked the aesthetic, and the stages are designed well.

Flying Saucer Scramble by Reef 2020-10-06T01:27:37Z

Nice mechanic. Great aesthetic. My only criticism is that it lacks difficulty.

Tomb of the Starless Sky by toad 2020-10-06T14:50:59Z

Not bad. I think with some more fights you could have gotten more out of the loop mechanic. Maybe a fight in which each unit can make 2 actions before the looping starts.

Hung On Justice by Raphiell 2020-10-06T00:38:32Z

The lasso mechanic was really enjoyable and the art is great. One small criticism is that the screen is a bit small for how big the player is and how quickly they move. It felt like I couldn't react to things as quickly as I wanted to.

Great game!

Portal Madness by Raniere 2020-10-07T00:11:43Z

I had to bust out the notepad for this one. Fun little game.

Traveling the Wild West by Cwazywierdo 2020-10-07T00:42:18Z

Solid project. Art is great. Before reading description I just thought controls were buggy, but after reading they started feeling pretty good. Just a really nice, self-contained game.

Nice Work!

You've got a good framework here. I think you just need to tweak some aspects and add some depth. I'd suggest increasing the rate at which players earn gold, increasing map size, allowing players to zoom in and out and potentially adding time controls(1x, 2x, 4x speed). Oh, and another small issue is that when you click out of the game, it pauses, which seems counter to the idea of an idle game.

Good work, though. It has charm.

Looped Dodger by grenk 2020-10-06T00:26:50Z

@vleue Thanks for the feedback. I would have liked to get some polish in but I let the time get away from me.

@duke There's no sound. I wasn't sure how to remove the category, but I'm not too worried about my overall rating anyways. Also, In the updated version I did add a score tracker, as well as additional rings, which I believe help the player track the angles of the enemies a bit more effectively.

@koolruz I get what you're saying. The spindle is an interesting solution. I'll have to test it out to see how it looks in motion.

Thanks to everyone for their input!

Meltdown Countdown by LukeDJ 2020-10-06T22:28:31Z

Very nice! All around it was good, but I especially loved the art style

Last Lap by RoofloorWall 2020-10-06T23:23:47Z

Nice little game ya got here. I like the core of the game. A few changes that I think would improve the game are, making zombies a bit easier to kill overall (landmine explosion bigger, make the saw blades larger, make the bullets larger, etc), adding a handbrake button to get some drift mechanics (would help with aiming certain weapons as well), and getting item unlocks by progress (might as well go full super crate box).

Nice work!

Particle Accelerator by Koolruz 2020-10-06T01:58:15Z

Good game! Initially, I felt like controls were awkward and weighty, but they started to grow on me. The difficulty spike of the bowtie stage was a bit jarring, but it was also the first stage where I felt like I started to get a feel for the physics/controls. Probably just because I was bashing my head into it for so long.

Color Loop by bubbadubc 2020-10-06T02:26:17Z

Great visuals and audio. The difficulty was alright for me until it hit the 3 color speed up. It might help if you showed a move or 2 into the future so that people could queue up moves in their head instead of just relying purely on reaction time.

Void Climbers by mumaitron 2020-10-06T16:40:26Z

I like the idea, art is good. I think that it would benefit the game immensely to improve the rope physics.

Something's Changed (Minsk 2118) by Jakob Reborn 2020-10-06T18:02:20Z

I'm a bit lost, but intrigued. Visuals and audio are good. Keep making interesting stuff!

YOUR TIME by m7rk 2020-10-06T19:53:00Z

Great game! Art and music are very good. One small criticism is that because you take damage from your clone's projectiles, it pushes a pacifist playstyle. That being said, I was fine dodging enemies until the boss, but it seems counter to the style of gameplay you're going for. It might be a good idea to only use the previous stage's clone, so it doesn't ramp up so much. Just a thought.

Ghost Jammer by schreibmaschine 2020-10-06T00:18:23Z

Visuals and audio are great. Fun to play. Well done

SpaceMan by sefan 2020-10-06T18:17:46Z

I like the simple pixel art. I agree with others that you probably want some sort of indicator to help you find the orbs. Maybe pulse at the edge of the screen coming from the location of the nearest orb? Just a thought.

Anomaly by Mat Stevenson 2020-10-05T23:47:27Z

Great graphics, and an interesting concept. My main critique is that it was a bit slow. I think it would help to shorten travel time between planets, and make anomaly teleportation instantaneous. Also, potentially make it so the planet interaction menu doesn't open when you land on a planet, or maybe make it so you can click to travel to another planet while it's up. There were times where I knew that I was going to skip over 5-6 planets in a row without interacting with them and the menu continuously popping up was a minor inconvenience.

Funny idea with a good aesthetic. Well done

Great game and the ending was perfect.
