Interesting concept, I like making the loops and the music is good. I'd say the money you earn is too slow, making longer trips makes more money but it takes a lot more time. For an idle game you want the early game to go quickly and then slow it down. Anyway good job to both of you.

Nice work! Good concept. Would be nice to refund money for removed rails. Quite slow and a few to do for now. i suggest adding some interaction with trees/rocks, for example, a sawmill building, which can be build only near tree and adds some value to a loop

Cool idea! It could be designed as a management game than an idle game. But this is just a personal suggestion. GJ!

I agree that some kind of interaction with the trees and rocks would be nice (at its simplest, perhaps the passengers pay more for seeing nice scenery?)

It would also be nice if the game kept playing when I open another window, but I don't even know if you can do that within the limitations of the engine and webpage.

Overall the game is smooth and does what it sets out to do, nice work :)

A solid foundation for a good game! If there were further challenges like passengers that could be picked up for additional money at the cost of more rail that would be interesting. Really like the music as well, good job.

I really like the art in your screenshot but I can't play it :( Unity won't load.

kurt-roembke 2020-10-06 13:40

Nice music! Good work doing everything yourself!

Building railway loops, nice idea!

I really like the art and music, the money sound effect turned out great.

A way to interact with the game during the early stages of building would be nice to speed up the idling process. Maybe clicking a train gives it a short speed boost? (Additionally, the web version unfortunately paused whenever the game was not focused)

I love train / transport simulators and your game is really reminiscent of an early prototype of any of the big transport simulators. Good job!

You've got a good framework here. I think you just need to tweak some aspects and add some depth. I'd suggest increasing the rate at which players earn gold, increasing map size, allowing players to zoom in and out and potentially adding time controls(1x, 2x, 4x speed). Oh, and another small issue is that when you click out of the game, it pauses, which seems counter to the idea of an idle game.

Good work, though. It has charm.

Fun game and a good idea! I ended up doing a ton of small tight loops since there didn't seem to be any benefit to longer tracks (you get more money linearly it appears but it also takes linearly longer cancelling out!). Even with this strategy it took a bit long to get started. I think one improvement would be to make the amount of money you get increase greater than linearly the longer the track so you are incentivized to make longer tracks. I also thought at first that the trees and rocks would maybe make me more money by being more "scenic" but after some experimentation didn't find any increase in profitability from going by making it more scenic. There is definitely a good base game here with a lot of potential!

Wow, that are a lot of lovely feedbacks. There are many aspects which motivates us to develop a post jam version. Thanks all so far!

probeprob 2020-10-06 20:45

@marbles for me it only load in chrome, not in firefox. Maybe you have the same problem?

cammellocalypse 2020-10-06 20:56

I always love these kinds of games, and you have a really strong connection to the theme here! Would've loved the progression to be a little faster (helps when people are previewing jam games) but I enjoyed it, nicely done!

Good job on making this game!

Felt like a simple idle game, with satisfying graphics and soothing train movements.

Start was really really slow though. Most idle games let you act on early stages of the game, such as clicking on something to gain money. It is also hard to understand what you are supposed to do to optimise money returns without testing, and testing takes way too long.

Thanks for the game and keep up the good work 💕

Hey, I got ya on stream, thanks for submitting! Here's the vod if you wanna rewatch it. https://www.twitch.tv/videos/763143712

Great tycoon game. The art is nice but I don't think the music fits the theme. It would have been nice if we got half of the cost of the item when we remove it because I had to restart the game multiple time because of having no money to spend.

drsomma 2020-10-09 19:13

@justcamh thanks for playing the game and the good hints :)

@leo-red thanks for your comment. What would have been a better music? Maybe 8-Bit? And yes, you're right. Removing should give some money back. :P

leo-red 2020-10-10 04:03

@orpartlu Yay 8- bit will work really well with the graphics. Maybe because I am obsessed with 8-bit music.
