I like the simple concept and controls. Very nice!

arthurddev 2020-10-06 00:09

Nice game, great for mobile

vleue 2020-10-06 00:12

Nice, would have been great with sound effects and a way to keep track of score or progress

darthdeus 2020-10-06 00:18

Perfect hypercasual 1 finger game for mobile! :D

raniere 2020-10-06 00:26

Creative and simple. Well done!

grenk 2020-10-06 00:26

@vleue Thanks for the feedback. I would have liked to get some polish in but I let the time get away from me.

astrid 2020-10-06 00:44

The idea is really nice, would have been better with a score and tutorial :smiley_cat:

heho 2020-10-06 01:03

Well done! Its aesthetic works really well.

curruff 2020-10-06 01:30

The idea's great, but it could definitely use some polish. Some graphics and sound effects would be great.

ryzy27 2020-10-06 16:44

Cool game.

Very intuitive controls. I didn't read the description, but easily figured it out in a few seconds.

Core loop (hehe) is there, you could build a nice mobile game from this.

Cheers!

lukedj 2020-10-06 23:07

At first I didn't think this was something I'd be able to get better at, but in the end I managed to survive for quite a while! Great controls too, well done!

ruddiculous 2020-10-07 01:56

simple as simple gets. a good thing in some ways and unfortunate in others. the simple mechanic here is solid, soooo much you could do with it! just wish there was a little more personality and feeling of reward to it. this is just missing that next layer in my opinion but it's moving in such a nice direction, great thinking, great execution of what is here - just more! nice work

raphiell 2020-10-07 02:30

Simple, and fun to play around with for a few minutes.

Congrats on completing a game for the jam!

etrealjunior 2020-10-07 10:30

I liked your game my congratulations, I also did one if you want to know, and give me your feedback I am very grateful, this is the link https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/47/resurrection

kate90 2020-10-07 16:13

scoring system and off you go for mobile release!

weine 2020-10-07 17:31

The barest possible loop game! I like it for that circular zen feeling, but I miss a scoring system.

annie-owl 2020-10-07 21:41

Nice little game! I only wish there was some sort of a score system. Something like "you survived for N seconds" or "you dodged 10 bullets, congrats!"

patrick-sweeney 2020-10-08 02:00

Very literal interpretation of the theme haha. Very cool game!

Also I agree with others. A scoring system would be dope. And you could add powerups like star mode or slo-mo!

tino 2020-10-08 14:49

It is actually harder than I would have expected! Add a nice music and a scoring and you have it!

thegerry 2020-10-10 13:07

Nice usuage of the theme! I like how simple it is to understand and especially with the added score system it makes fun to try getting new highscores!

duke 2020-10-10 13:11

A novel concept but really harder than it looks. The trajectories of the the falling blobs and your own character are really hard to predict. I didn't have any music or sound but you're ratings for audio are available. Is this a mistake or is there an issue with sound with the original web version? Also, would've been nice to have some kind of score or timer :) Just to keep track of your own high score at least.

All in all, the game play loop itself works, but everything aside from that is still lacking a lot. But kudos for creating something new! I haven't played something quite like this before.

koolruz 2020-10-10 15:00

Interesting game! The post-jam version with a score and more effects is shaping up nicely, it'll be intersting to see where you go from there! :)

One thing that I found a little bit unintuitive was how I would speed up when entering the inner loop, or slow down when entering the outer loop. I understood that this was because I had a fixed angular velocity, and that one loop would always take the same amount of time, but I had expected that my character would move at a fixed speed, and simply complete loops faster on the inner circle, and more slowly on the outer circle. One way to address this without changing the underlying mechanics might be to put the character onto a revolving spindle, which would make it more clear to the player that their character isn't moving at a fixed speed, but is instead moving inwards and outwards on a line which revolves at a fixed angular velocity. Please forgive my hastily edited screenshot to demonstrate what I mean:

Hopefully that makes sense. Overall though, this is a cool concept and a pretty unique mechanic! :)

grenk 2020-10-10 17:07

@duke There's no sound. I wasn't sure how to remove the category, but I'm not too worried about my overall rating anyways. Also, In the updated version I did add a score tracker, as well as additional rings, which I believe help the player track the angles of the enemies a bit more effectively.

@koolruz I get what you're saying. The spindle is an interesting solution. I'll have to test it out to see how it looks in motion.

Thanks to everyone for their input!

mrbamboo 2020-10-10 23:03

I think it's the simplest concept ! Really nice !

arad-hamidsamiee 2020-10-17 09:07

Literally, stuck in a loop  post-jam version is good.

thegreenworm 2020-10-23 22:47

Simple, yet effective. Some sort of score counter would be nice !
