Interesting approach to the topic, cool!
Nice game, like the music!
I didn't wanna chill with sloth so they farted on me and almost drove me insane. I ate a pill and felt better, but I did hear sloth farting for the rest of the game. That is the kind of emergent narrative I want in my games!! This was a really cool entry. The character art combined with the background and music created a really weird atmosphere that was cool to explore. The unique music for each character was a nice touch. A lot of the dialogue made me laugh too. Great work, thank you for making it!
Emotional Depth is a fun take on the Theme, we had some thoughts in that direction but ended up playing with height instead - this was some good fun, main critique no visual healthbar? or maybe there was and my tired brain just missed it XD
Regardless when I died I was in shock as I thought I had not yet been hit, was the hearts dangerous? if so maybe make them more spiky to indicate danger as hearts is typically something you want to go for in games.
Regardless, good work! meeting my therapist gaining pills in this game was much more fun than real life version!
@kluvenlaroplan For some reason if you do not expand the window, you can't see your sanity meter (kinda health bar). Thanks for palying
Nice game ! I like the unusual gameplay ! The visuals are a bit clumsy as well as the mechanics but it's a great interpretation of the theme :) good job
I admire you that you went into the depths of human mind! I wasnt sure what I am doing - if I answered positively, i was being left alone and if negatively, I had a hard time to run away from them.
But I was playing it longer that I expected which means it has some charm to it.
Thanks for the entry.
Cool, the background is crazy hypnotic! :
I went insane. 10/10
@snory Thank you for feedback!
You can either deny your Vanity Demons and fight them one by one, or they tempt you to ignore them - only to ambush you during the final fight.
A very nice interpretation of the theme there! Well done
Nice take on the theme, it was cool figuring out the premise. I wasn't a fan of the visuals. but the dynamic music switching was nice.
Great take on the theme. The difficulty was a little bit high for me and I didn't figure out that I should run the game in fullscreen until after I've read through other comments (now I can se that the info is on the page as well, duh!). Art is fine for me, good job with the music changes. Thanks!
very emotional FIVE STARS!
I was chill with all my demons till bro try to take my shoes.
I really liked the abstract visuals and the music was genuinely so well done and implemented, was really impressed. Maybe something to improve upon would be more variation on attacks and visual confirmation on whats been upgraded with the guide. Besides from that, great game!
I liked the graphics style! The paper-like characters combined with the lighting looks mesmerizing! Good entry!
Nice game! We need more people to go to therapy and think about being better people, so it has a good lesson in it.
Gameplay-wise I wish there were more abilities to get, or small buffs after defeating the vanities. Circle strafing while shooting or running away while shooting got boring towards the end (especially after the chanting ability, its so strong). I also didn't know what the safety blanket did; make me more tanky?
Anyway great submission for a game jam! Excellent music too, but the graphics are very simple
Emotional Depth? Interesting take on the theme, some of the dialogue was funny too, good work!
Great concept! Love the idea I have to say and it managed to have an emotional affect on me. Good job!
@kenevil1 Thank you, I agree - music and atmosphere feel like strongest parts of the game - my friends did a great job with those.
Wanted more variation of attacks, but had to deal with a lot of bugs and performance issues due to overengineering the base code systems - definitely learned my lessons there :D
@antagonistbob Agreed, we wanted to leave a positive impact, and balanced the heavy topic with lighter dialogs.
Gameplay definitely needed more love, but I ran out of time for it - made early mistakes with game systems that cost too much of it.
Safety blanked halved damage taken - definitely should have communicated that better :)
So funny sounds in game!
Very interesting concept, but the eyes get tired of looking at the floating background. I would like a little more interesting boss battles, maybe some improvements. Overall, very good!
This game is what word madness really means
I really like the visuals, simple and strange but really funny ! Kinda hard for me haha
I got nothing but appreciate for this. Well done.
Had some fun chatting with the demons and when the time has come - was smashed by them in a splitsecond. Not an easy thing to face yourself :D Awesome that each "demon" has its own music theme - really enjoyed that. Also, characters design feels simple but somehow appealing. Good job guys!
I like the idea, the only thing is that the background stands out a little
It was weird but funny. I appreciate the artstyle. Had a good time with the inner demons :D
I like your take on the theme here, and quality graphics ! Took me some time to grab on the concept and objectives but it was an original experience overall :)
I like the artstyle, the player sprite is my favorite.
@kamuniaft Thank you, glad you enjoyed it! Final fight should be much easier if other demons have been already defeated - maybe you were tempted by too many of them... Can't blame you though, they can be quite difficult to resist ;)
@nonumbersgames totally my fault, I shoudn't have been so suggestible :D
Not sure if I miss something but it's a bit difficult. But the game is ok!
Nice! Had fun to different approach with encounters
WTF did I just play XD. I was first quite repulsed by the animated background and the overall sketchy artstyle, but it was oddly satisfying with the music and it all built up to a really good atmosphere. It also fit the theme very, very well. Very original and weird.
Such an interesting idea
Funny game
The sketchy art-style was a bit weird at first BUT it grew on my as I kept playing - I love it now
Overall oddly meditative, felt pleasant vibes all along!
Also the music really sold it - 11/10
It's fun seeing your interpetation of the different vanities. One of them wanted my shoe, so I didn't give it to them
The embed isn't working on itch, i advise you to disable caching in player settings and possiblig using gzip for compression. I had the same problem. I didn't expect much, but it was somewhat funny and whacky lol. It's somewhat easier to fight the boss fight with all the vanities alive than fighting them alone, the space is very tight. Also at the start I went down and got lost, maybe block off that way lol.
I didn't really understand this game, collisions are often not obvious, sometimes there is a feeling that the game is unfair. Good work, but it didn't hit me
I really enjoyed the character art. They're memorable and, along with the music, make the game stick in my memory.
The music was a nice touch. The kisses and farts and piano themes add humor and personality.
The fighting was rather rough for me. It swung back and forth between being too easy and too difficult. Also, one time a vanity simply vanished when I went out of range and didn't come back. Was that supposed to happen?
I finally decided I'd just not fight the vanities... Only for them to get me at the end (which I deserved).
While I like the idea of exploring the depths of my mind like a literal web/maze, on my second playthrough I found myself getting annoyed with being lost. The layout isn't too difficult, but once rooms are cleared there are no markers to remind me where I've been. Perhaps for a future iteration, some room details could help? (Depends on the vibe you're aiming for, though. If you want players to feel confused and lost, ignore me ;) )
The writing was bare bones, yet still managed to be funny.
This game has character. I'm glad I got to play it.
While I was playing, the background made me mentally ill. excellent
What a nice presentation of the theme ! The game works fine, i had to fight everyone in the middle cause everytime i was talking to my demons they didn't want to fight me hahaha. Thanks for the game ! Good Job ! =)
Fun little game! Presentation was a bit messy but gameplay was intuitive and worked alright. On first playthrough I just went straight up and fought what I assume is the final room and completed the game like that. But then I went back and tried the other rooms too and it made more sense. Maybe a better way of forcing the correct progression would have worked better, making sure players see more of your content. Overall funny setting and dialogues. I think art worked ok though it was quite minimal. Decent entry!
@bartholomheow Thanks for the tips, updated the build in itch!
Yeah we kind of overscoped a bit and had little time for testing gameplay balance - bigger rooms would have helped for sure...
@mikemikemakes Good feedback, we really appreciate it!
Vanities should definitely not disappear when out of sight - but the codebase was a real mess by the end of it, so I'm not too surprised things like that happen ;D
Map would indeed have helped a lot - initially we had scrollwheel for zooming in and out, but it malfunctioned on web build and we didn't have the time to investigate, so had to just disable it without providing alternative. Like the idea of markers for cleared rooms, will keep it in mind! Room details would also be nice, wanted that too but as with many things, time was the primary constraint :)
Thank you for the kind words <3
@nyxkn You are probably right, at the very least the boss room should probably have been a bit further away, to show player there is interesting content to explore.
Thank you for your feedback, appreciate it!
Honestly, sometimes it's unclear when damage is being dealt — there's no indication at all... But overall, it's a simple and fun game. Good job!
@thegreatcarpet Fair, probably needed a on-hit animation and melee hit effect

That's gotta be the weirdest game I played, but it felt oddly relaxing with the music and visuals. Also the dialogues and sound effects were funny.
@vladimperator Hmm, "weirdest game"... I'll take it, thanks! ;D
Well that was weird! I didn't get the concept right away but as soon as I tried to fight myself and all the monsters in the map spawned at the same time and swarmed me, it was immediately obvious! That was unintentionally very funny, so was getting to the end after beating all the monsters and killing my bad self in 4 hits lol. I really like this idea of beating all the mini-bosses in a map first in order to make the final boss easier, that's a good way to encourage exploration! I liked the music too, felt appropriately surreal. I guess the only thing that's missing is polish, the art is alright but stretched out or aliased in some places, the collisions in the hallways are kinda wonky, the sounds cut off way too soon, there's no feedback or healthbar to know when you get hurt, no feedback for what the pills and the chant/blanket too, they're a bunch of small things that add up, but ultimately I think the core of the game is pretty fun!
I stumbled into the final fight basically right away and beat it with... surprisingly little effort. Might be a little bit easy? ^^() But it's an interesting concept and the music wasn't bad.
The mood was set up well and I think the concept works well.
I like the narrative and how well it is put. Nice set of characters.
This game is very weird. And that's great. The psychedelic background and music fit very well.
The first time a Psychiatrist ask me if I'm insane I denied. But that changed quickly :D. Well done!
I don’t even know what to say, but you managed to make me play and keep playing this wonderful creation! How did you do it? ))))
@fupi Thank you very much, glad you enjoyed the intended experience! The game could definitely use some polish - some rough edges really need attention. We do want to make a post-jam release, will see how that goes :)
Really appreciate your detailed feedback, will help a lot to have a clear list of what are essentials to work on <3
@mamboman sooner or later we have to admit our own craziness ;D Thank you!
@coda-highland difficulty of that fight kinda depends on how far from the boss you initiate conversation - it is either impossible or too straightforward with kiting in a circle. Definitely need to work on balancing it better. Thank you for feedback!
@ammonit Really appreciate the kind words, they mean a lot! <3
If I had to guess the strongest part of the game I would say the vibes - music and characters. Certainly not my combat gameplay, which still needs a lot of work :D
> it is either impossible or too straightforward with kiting in a circle.
Circle-kiting is exactly what I did.
This was really well done, amazing that you implemented so many enemy types for this. really cool that you had you fight yourself at the end! The fights did feel a bit easy just leading the boss' down the hallway and shooting. Maybe make the battle spaces larger and lock the player in there with the boss?
Great work!
the best psychological shonen of thuis jam
@braeden Thank you very much, really appreciate the kind words! Good idea about closing boss arenas, we did that for the final fight but not for others. Combat balance also needs quite a bit of polish...
@darefus That's high praise, thank you very much! :D
