Pretty fun! Took me back to when I used to play D&D Warriors of the Eternal Sun on the Genesis

mobslicer152 2024-04-15 01:35

Neat game, the graphics are nice. I was a little confused about whether it was 2D or 3D, though.

ick 2024-04-15 03:11

I love the graphics!! Cool game

ollie-d 2024-04-15 03:14

the real winner was the spirit of easter all along.

Fun submission, still not sure what all of the ingredients were but the game looked solid and played smoothly!

Fun game! I love that the mini-map works, and the card-based combat is really cool

altaf-creator 2024-04-15 08:03

Very interesting art style! Really like the combat system! Good luck!

Short but sweet game! Loved the unique 2.5D look. Sounds were simple yet satisfying. Balancing might need to be done so you don't just spam healing cards (making health not a concern). Overall really great work!

Hi! Loved!!! Incredible mood, just cool ambient music and style. Gameplay was on par. Wanted more levels to keep going!

robowarrior1982 2024-04-15 11:03

Nice dungeon crawler engine ! The cards mechanics is very good and innovative for this kind of games. Old school graphics is nice, that really remember dos game era ! rituql coplete.jpg

Looks and sounds great. I'm not very into the rogue-like controls, but it works. Decently fun to play, though I didn't really enjoy hunting for the ingredients.

dzejpi 2024-04-15 17:35

I love the artstyle, it creates a very interesting mood, and feels very properly old school. I have to take a look at dithering myself, because I realy love it. :) I think assets like cards could use it too, so that it would all fit together more nicely, but that's no biggie. Maybe some head bobbing to, because when you walk through long straight hallways, it feels like you don't walk at all. Great to include the minimap too. Nice entry, loved it!

leorean 2024-04-15 18:31

The idea of a 1st person dungeon crawler with fighting cards is awesome :bulb:

pres2300 2024-04-16 00:27

I did it! This was fun to play. I could see it being expanded upon easily for more content as the base mechanics seem solid. I liked the grid style movement. You did a great job with the sound as well. Good work!

locksmitharmy 2024-04-16 01:01

Dangit, now I wanna play that hover game from windows 98.

great throwback, thanks for sharing.

vidim888 2024-04-16 01:06

Nice well-rounded submission! The graphics looks great all together, the sounds are complementary and mini map helps you to not get lost really fast. I got confused at first by what WASDQE controls meant  I liked it though, reminds me of Might & Magic games

The battle part with cards is good as a concept, but with the current balancing you can just spam middle card and win any fight because it doesn't really matter with amount of healing you get.

owtuvammo 2024-04-16 02:11

I totally didn't realize you could move around at first, expecting some sort of conventional card game, but this was a cute little dungeon crawl.

I couldn't quite tell if the combat was turn-based, but I found myself going through cards really quickly to try and kill them before they killed me.

adamg 2024-04-16 03:36

I love this style of game. The cards to do combat were a fun idea.

pebkac 2024-04-16 05:43

Looks great! Not sure if the cards add anything though. I could just play a Water if I had a hand full of them in the hopes of drawing Fire, and in combat I've had a hand full of Fires vs a Fire Spirit... The system would need more depth to make the player feel agency over it.

rob6566 2024-04-16 07:06

Loved it! The music is fitting, and the art fitted the game style. As someone above said, it took me a minute to figure out that A and D were strafe, not turn. Was very short - if you have random map generation, another level or two would have been nice. Great work getting this together in 2 days.

cute game, great concept, wish for more content

shaneshanekavanagh 2024-04-16 10:54

Great work!

frib 2024-04-17 12:40

Got the bunny :D

Fun game! I liked the cards twist. I did experience the giant room bug, that turns it into a completely different game lol. Two games in one! :D

fumybulb 2024-04-17 17:29

Well made fun dungeon crawler! Glad to see a game in this genre, thanks!

Idea 1: It is better to end the introductory briefing not automatically, but after a click, so that you have time to read. To be honest, when I first started the game, I admired the voice acting, and therefore was in no hurry to return to reading the text.

Idea 2: it would be cool to add some restrictions on the use of cards (limited number of them in the deck? maybe a mana cost to use?). Now you can spam cards without thinking twice.

Idea 3: What if the fire card healed the fire demon instead of dealing 1 damage? Or even enhance the demon's power!

Anyway, it's a great little cute game

henk 2024-04-17 20:40

I like it! It's neat to see an entry with procedural generation, and I think the visual style and sounds work well, too. I wish the play time were a bit longer; the single small level left me hungry for more!

A small thing, but I think it'd also be nice to have the map fill out all the squares in the player's field of view, rather than just the ones the player is standing on. It might make it easier to see which areas are still unexplored.

batisdark 2024-04-17 21:16

I summoned the bunny! yay!

patrick-pang 2024-04-19 03:13

Very creative design, the whole game looks abstract but full of fun. Also, the sound effects of the character talking at the beginning are really funny hahahaha

local-minimum 2024-04-19 12:28

Short and sweet game!

I really like the concept of it all and there's an obvious path to extending it into a proper dungeon crawler deck builder.

I think some minor tweaks could increase the drama a whole lot, like taking longer time to draw a new card so that it wasn't really possible to lazily click the same all the time.

I also got the feeling that they were drawn at random with a flat rates. While if it worked more like a deck that gets shuffled, it could have been really stressful drawing 3 healing cards in a row, because wasting them means there will not be any new healing for a while.

Controls were nice and dungeon camera perspective felt perfect to me (though I'm no real connoisseur).

I think the cauldron perhaps should not be a tile where enemies could go, because it made it quite confusing there in the beginning. Especially since their corpses lingers.

I think I would have liked the game a bit larger. Perhaps not that the level would be larger, but I think there might be something to this idea that ought to be expanded.

Short, sweet, and to the point. Just what you want from a compo game. Nice job, my compo compatriot <3

milq 2024-04-21 16:44

What an amazing game! The mood of the game is fantastic, the atmosphere is excellent, and I love the artistic style—it reminds me of Wolfenstein 3D but with a unique twist. I appreciate the help with the map, and I like the strategy of attacking enemies with water or fire depending on their type. The game combines exploration with combat in a short but very entertaining gameplay experience.

It would be cool if the ingredients collected could be used to cast new spells, adding a bit more depth to the experience. For example, if I pick up a tomato, I could use it to attack a specific type of enemy guarding another ingredient; this would make the exploration much more interesting.

But hey, this is just a small suggestion because creating this game in less than 48 hours is truly admirable. I loved it; great game!

Ooh, a dungeon crawler, it's like I'm in the wrong jam all of a sudden!

Felt really good, automap was cool, but could have used a bigger / less linear map to really take advantage of it =). It seemed I was invincible? My health got to 0 in the first battle before I'd quite figured out what was going on... I would have liked maybe just some reason not to just spam all my cards - if the matching element healed the enemy, then maybe I'd at least have been encouraged to turn and shoot the matching cards into space, if not find someone better to shoot with them.

Nice and short and sweet, and I made it to the end, and summoned quite a terrifying demon.

chuckiee 2024-04-24 09:47

I really like it, it's kinda hard to know if an enemy is within range. Graphics = top tier! Good sfx too. Kind of short but also a very solid entry! GJ!

mibi88 2024-04-24 16:25

The Wolfstein 3D vibe is great, it was fun and impressive. It's a really good entry!

yellow 2024-05-01 07:49

It makes me feel like I'm back to those games on the SNES platform back then. That was really a beautiful memory! Thank you! Well done!
