The game mechanics in this game are amazing. Figuring out that you could jump to different sides of the window just made it better. Really well done with this, outstanding work!

dankypants 2017-07-31 15:58

Really interesting mechanic, well presented and executed!

xonic 2017-07-31 16:10

This game looks, sounds, and plays great! The idea and execution is perfect. The gameplay is fast and addicting! Very fun and creative idea!

kippllo 2017-07-31 16:34

Really cool! Really Hard!

sarah 2017-07-31 16:39

I felt really bad about trying to corrupt family photos! This is a really nice puzzle game. It's challenging and has sweet mechanics :) I like the music a lot and just the whole game. Great job on everything!

nintendoeats 2017-07-31 17:06

Please don't ask for donations for LD games.

That was great! really creative mechanic, well executed. It was very challenging in spots, but in a way that made me want to keep going. I can see that there is potential for many more levels. The energy mechanic felt a bit tacked-on. The music was nice but got a little irritating after a while.

pitpony 2017-07-31 17:35

Very clever game. I think the window adds a lot to the already tight game mechanics. I also really like the audio and the story elements you've added.

Great job, one the best entries I've played.

impbox 2017-07-31 18:38

Wow! That is an awesome puzzle game you've got there! A bunch of great mechanics that fit together very nicely. Simple art that is easy to read (although I think it'd be good if the player was a different colour or stood out more). Music was the only disappointing thing in this game, it didn't really suit, something energetic would be better I think. But anyway, awesome work! Best one I've played so far.

amras0000 2017-07-31 19:05

Very nicely done. The visual aesthetic reminded me strongly of 1000 amps, with the clean monochromatic squares. The puzzle mechanics are well-designed and your levels utilize them to a thorough extent; the undo feature takes a lot of the edge off any frustration I might have for the later levels; the progression in difficulty is very smooth.

I'll admit I was a tiny bit disappointed that none of the buttons on the window header worked, and that there weren't any puzzle elements to do with resizing the window, but in fairness this way probably worked out for the better. And using a non-microsofty window layout would have clashed a bit with the script kiddie storyline.

Music did get a bit grating, just because of the vibratos and offkey/offrhythm aspect. Would have preferred something a bit cleaner for a game like this. And maybe the tile graphics could have used some work when it comes to overlap; it was difficult to tell when a tile with a padlock was covering a solid tile and when it wasn't, without moving the window around. But these are both very minor issues. I loved my experience with the game.

chaseplays 2017-07-31 20:25

This game is incredible! Everything about it is perfect for Ludum Dare - the graphics, story, gameplay, and theme. The music could have been a bit less repetitive, but honestly I probably wouldn't have noticed it without reading other comments. The graphics were pretty good, especially given that this is a Ludum Dare game, and the simplicity must have made it a lot easier for you to focus on gameplay. The puzzles were really strong, and the window moving mechanic reminded me of Managore's Windowframe, while putting on a new puzzle spin that made the game feel completely different. The story fit really well, and I absolutely loved the last line of the game. Finally, all of the mechanics are taught really well, which was a HUGE step up from Calor, which tried to throw all of the information at you at once. Amazing job!

phlip45 2017-07-31 22:14

This is an amazing puzzle game. Not quite sure if i've seen this concept in a puzzle game really. Music was perfect, ambient and slow to match the turn based puzzles. Graphics worked within the context of the theme and the story line to explain new mechanics was useful. I like how you used the running out of energy as a kind of anti-frustration feature, as well as a way to add challenge. You don't let someone run around in circles forever and just kinda stumble into the answer, since there are only a limited number of moves.

For a suggestion, an indicator when you are on a locked tile (just an outline of the lock symbol over your square).

cg-fred 2017-07-31 22:21

Wow this game is the best I've played on Ludum Dare ever, very good game. Excellent tutorial and also a nice increased in difficulty over the levels. Love puzzle games and the design of this game is very clever.

Hope to see it further developed.

drewg8 2017-08-01 01:30

A lot of interesting mechanics that work together well together. The theme could use a little more incorporation into the story, but other than that, a really well thought out game!

tinykidtoo 2017-08-01 02:47

This game is absolutely fantastic. Each of the mechanics works so well together, and the levels are designed quite well. I particularly liked how the running out of power mechanic was incorporated, making each of the levels more satisfying for the added difficulty. The undo was a particularly nice touch for when I got a bit lost on the later levels.

Overall, a fantastic entry and one of the best puzzle games I've played in recent memory.

moaz-ashraf 2017-08-01 03:46

Pretty cool and innovative puzzle game. I love it! The hacking concept is really good. Also nice audio and art for a compo game! The humor was good too and it followed the theme perfectly. The levels were well thought and designed as well, even though I got stuck in some levels for a while. The only thing was the lock symbol that appears on the window frame is not really noticeable so it was a bit annoying at first; A suggestion would be to put it besides the power bar on top and make it visible.

Other than that, it's all good!

seanw 2017-08-01 04:02

One of the best games I've played for this Ludum Dare! The puzzles were very well designed!

elit3dgaming 2017-08-01 04:31

Very fun game, puzzles are fantastic and I love the mechanics. I like the level design alot. Nice work!

crabman 2017-08-01 09:25

Wow, that was annoyingly good. Love the mechanics (the window jumping in particular), music, writing... Amazing how polished this is. Respect!

rombus 2017-08-02 01:33

woooooooooooooooooooo, I love this game. It's awesome, you really cranked up the innovation in this one. Congrats man!

How many levels there are?

stevenjmiller 2017-08-02 02:21

@rombus Just the 15, I originally was going to make more and actually had plenty of time for it, but I decided that adding more would make the game a bit too repetitive.

alex-tantum 2017-08-02 12:48

The mechanics are impressive, the idea is wonderful, the levels are interesting and the music is also good. Excellent work, I liked to play this game.

unoion 2017-08-02 19:01

Nice puzzle game with simple mechanics and calm soundtrack, one of the best entries I've played on this LD!

krp 2017-08-02 20:04

This game is going to win the Ludum Dare.

torcado 2017-08-02 22:45

ooohh boyy i loved this one. its perfectly polished with very good puzzles, a storyline, and lots of content. the visual style is very nice too. my only gripes would be about the kind of out of place humor, and that things get a little confusing when tiles overlap. if there were a way to show tiles slightly differently so you can tell multiple tiles at the same spot, that would be nice. Really nice job!

josehzz 2017-08-03 02:15

Incredible game, the puzzles are extremelly polished and well done, its amazing that you could do this in 48 hours great job!

diptoman 2017-08-03 04:06

The theme is kind of crammed in, but it is an excellent and unique puzzle game otherwise - so props for that! Some of the puzzles are genuinely fantastic, and I do not recall seeing the "moving window" mechanic before, so yeah - great stuff!

gumboot 2017-08-03 07:27

wow! This was so good, the puzzles were interesting and gave me a lot of satisfaction to figure out. The little chat dialogue was a nice break in between levels too. Great job!

mr-chelnoque 2017-08-03 20:04

Not much to say other than game mechanic is very elegant, game feels complete and polished, hax0rman is just a beautiful person. One of the best games from this LD I've played yet. Great job and thanks.

shabap 2017-08-03 20:42

Reminded me of the puzzle games I played throughout my childhood in miniclip, armorgames and many more. You really managed to find a good mechanic and also excelled at level design and story.

saintheiser 2017-08-04 03:22

Love this game, really! Awesome puzzle machanics!

bveeramani 2017-08-04 06:25

I really admire the game you've created. It's incredible that in just two days you were able to implement such a complex and innovative mechanic. And even beyond the gameplay mechanics, the art and dialogue and everything just feels cohesive. Wow!

theflyingkeyboard 2017-08-04 11:43

Really amazing and original idea of gameplay. Graphics look simple, but nice. Really like the concept of dragging windows to move player, some levels are challenging, but not impossible. It would improve the fun, if the buttons on window could be interactable. Great Job!

skullpixel 2017-08-04 19:59

This idea is super original and very innovative. It is also simple, and well-developed, which are necessary for a successful jam game. Well done on your submission!

On a side note, the haxorman dude that talks to you is hilarious. "We could corrupt his family photos or something. Nah, I'd feel too bad."

mike-cullingham 2017-08-05 22:32

Definitely my favourite so far. Very original and challenging puzzler. Love how you got so much mileage out of a small moveset. Only minor critique would be to make the player stand out a little bit more from the target nodes (which might be a real challenge given the aesthetic). It's not an issue later in the game once you're really familiar, but for the first level it could help I think. Excellent job. I'd buy this for mobile with more levels.

drums 2017-08-06 22:38

Coolest mechanic I've seen in this competition!

elgregos 2017-08-07 14:10

Best game I've played in this jam. My only comments are that the player position is not always obvious, and that a locked cell should look different when on its own, or when over another cell, which function gets confusing for now. But well, it's a jam, and for the rest, I loved every part of your game. The concept, the humor, the calm and eerie music, the very well crafted puzzles, the mails moments that bring a fresh break between puzzles (and reminded me a bit Gunpoint)... Excellent work!

eremiell 2017-08-08 16:29

Looks just like my kind of game, but can't run it on Linux. :( I'd love to try out, if you could export a Linux64 version.

stevenjmiller 2017-08-09 02:00

@eremiell I just uploaded an HTML5 version on Game Jolt, let me know if it works. From what I can tell, only one small effect at the end of the game doesn't work as well, but other than that, it should be exact.

tmpxyz 2017-08-09 04:32

Very well implemented design, the puzzles are well designed too.

morphine 2017-08-09 16:24

Nice job! Amazing game.

mufinmcflufin 2017-08-09 19:16

A notably different puzzle game that understands and works with and around its own mechanics in an interesting manner. Clear difficulty progression that leads to good flow. Teaches the player everything they need to know about the game without being obtuse about it. Graphics maintain a well-defined style, although some of the sprites don't overlap very well together; it was difficult at times to see which tiles were what when overlapped by locked tiles.

Personally, I feel the theme wasn't very well incorporated, as it didn't very much convey "Power". This same game could have easily been changed to call the power, "Life", "Distance", "Seconds to death", or a plethora of other names while still working in the same manner. Name aside, this mechanic felt like it only really half contributed to the puzzles. Running out of power did mean that whatever path you were trying to get to a new node was the wrong one, but that's all it ever felt like. "This is the wrong, find a more optimal path." This made it feel more like an inconvenience to run out of power.

Theme aside (as that's only a minor part of the ratings) the rest of the game was very well executed. Overall 5/5 from me.

dustyroom 2017-08-22 03:40

Great entry. The concept is new and interesting. But the most I liked the narrative.

dustyroom 2017-08-22 17:56

Congrats on the 4th place! It's well deserved!

stevenjmiller 2017-08-22 18:19

@dustyroom Thank you!

2022-09-20 02:24

The idea and execution are perfect. The sound is very [quordle](https://quordlegame.io/) impressive. This is my first time reading your post. It's very good and interesting.
