| Oct 2 16:57:57 | Space Limiter Warp Drive | ♥ 0 | Really interesting idea. I got a feeling like I was a surgeon doing a precise surgery. It took me a while to understand that only the middle circle is not allowed to hit red orbs. After I realised it, the game actually became a lot easier. I found myself thinking more about getting closer to orbs rather than avoiding the hit. In that sense, it is not a traditional bullet hell game by any means - it feels original. | |
| Oct 2 17:03:02 | 5m 05s | Space slug | ♥ 2 | It took me a surprising long time to understand what was going on and what I needed to do. And even in the end I'm quite sure I did not fully experience what the game has to offer. While I like the art style, it makes a bit hard to understand what some objects are and how to interact with them. Adding a short tutorial or organising the level in a way that the player gets to interact with all of game's parts separately would go a long way. I think this game has potential but it takes a bit time to open up for the player. |
| Oct 2 17:08:26 | 5m 24s | Micro Golf! | ♥ 2 | This game has a really chunky feel! It encourages me to just smack the ball around. After a couple of levels, I quickly found myself just trying hit directions, resetting, moving a bit and trying again. It did not feel it would reward my skills getting better - I just just smacking the ball and hoping for the best. It was still fun though - feedbacks and sounds in this game are really good for a jam game! |
| Oct 2 17:14:09 | 5m 43s | CosmoTrasher | ♥ 2 | This is a solid package - unique idea, cool art and catchy music. I liked how everything felt quite snappy and all wait times (e.g. waiting for the trash pickup) are visually indicated to the player. Sometimes it was slightly annoying that when an asteroid when outside of the screen, it was not able to latch to it anymore. I it would have felt cool to do a last minute pull when the target was just exiting the screen. But overall, a really solid entry! |
| Oct 2 17:21:13 | 7m 04s | Perilous Platforms | ♥ 1 | Capture.PNG Very interesting game. At first, I was thinking I could destroy the other robots but when I realised I cannot, they started to feel more like "opponents". I liked the pushing mechanics as a tactical tool. However, in some cases I feel that the outcome of the push was too unpredictable - I did not always end up to a square I left from. Towards the end of the game, the game feels slightly too out of your control. At that point, the map consists mostly consists of narrow corridors and bad luck can easily end your run. But overall, I really solid jam game! |
| Oct 2 17:31:39 | 10m 26s | Sheep Birder | ♥ 1 | At first I thought the controls were a bit too hard. But there is a learning curve to controlling those birds so I think it grew for me at least a little. Hardest situations were when new birds spawned from opposite sides of the map so I needed to first gather them somewhere and then start moving sheep. I think this is maybe unnecessary. It is always cool to see upgrade systems implemented to jam games. Unfortunately, I was not able to decipher what each upgrade does. Some of the changes were so minimal so it was not possible for the player to interpret what they all do. But overall, a solid entry! |
| Oct 2 17:40:41 | 9m 02s | Moneypit | ♥ 3 | That was cool! There were multiple things I really liked about this entry. Firstly, the damage mechanic is really elegant and fresh. It also ties in nicely with the fiction as it resembles anxiety. Very good! Secondly, I liked how a simple color change between levels give them completely unique mood. This is especially smart in a jam setting where you won't have time to implement tons of unique levels. Possibly here it would have been slightly easier to understand if colors would have gotten darker for each level but this is just a nitpick. Overall, a really solid entry. Bonus points for the leaderboard - it is always nice to see those in jams! |
| Oct 2 17:46:46 | 6m 05s | Mind the Gap | ♥ 1 | There is a spirit of Super Monkey Ball in this room - and I like it! I think the game would have been slightly better if you stayed away from levels that require jumps. They just did not feel as good as the movement in general. All levels that did not require jumping were standouts for me. While you did not make the music, I still want to praise the music selection. I think the sets the mood perfectly for this game. If it was any more hectic, it very well may be that I would have given up earlier. This is a cool contrast to Super Monkey Ball that has more upbeat and higher tempo tunes. As a side note, the people talking behind the music track kinda broke the immersion but this was just a small nitpick. But overall, I solid entry! |
| Oct 2 17:52:33 | 5m 47s | Bathtub Buccaneers | ♥ 3 | For some reason I got slightly nauseatic from this game. Maybe it was the high mouse sensitivity that I was not able to adjust. Mouse controls are always a pain to deal with in jam games since you will never have time to tune them and implement all settings for them. But the game itself was fun! I liked the juxtapose between serious pirate stuff and bathtubs. The highlight for me was the sinking animation - it was a joy to watch enemies sink! Overall, a really solid entry and it has a lot of meat that many jam games do not have! |
| Oct 2 18:00:52 | 8m 19s | Robot Demolition Program | ♥ 3 | This game as a very polished feel to it - graphics, sounds and movement all feel very good! It took me a while to understand what I need to do and in the end, I'm not sure I still understood everything. There was probably part of the game's fiction I did not get and that's why some of the mechanics felt odd to me. But I still played the game for a good while. The controls are very snappy and playing it just feels good. The only nitpick about controls is that the "1" is not a good place for the dash - at least for me. I need to lift my fingers from WASD to use that key and it takes away some control I have. I would prefer something like "Shift" that many games use for sprints and dashes. But overall, I very solid and polished entry! |
| Oct 2 18:38:03 | 37m 11s | Going Up | ♥ 2 | This one was really good! Hilarious but engaging at the same time. A good amount of content as well and I think the difficulty ramp is balanced pretty much perfectly to keep the flow going. The goofy art style has its downsides too. In this case it is sometimes hard to see what spaces the person is actually filling. Sometimes this surprised me pleasantly when I was able to cram one more (let's be honest, it was always the granpa) person in there. But sometimes I was not while I visually thought I was able to. But this is nothing you would not be able to iron out with some updates after the jam! Very solid entry! |
| Oct 2 18:45:33 | 7m 30s | Keyslinger | ♥ 2 | Very solid art. The game idea is very interesting and I think there is a lot to explore here. The challenge with this is that it is so confusing to the player at first. All players have those movement controls imprinted to their genes it is feels very off when they are altered. Maybe for a jam setting it may be a bit too much since many players only play these games just a couple of minutes. I would maybe experiment with keeping the movement controls as normal and let the player to rewire other controls like shooting etc. But besides that long comment, I still enjoyed the game and it really challenged my brain to think differently than usual. It was also a cool touch that you could stack same directions to gain more speed. Feels like something that could easily be a bug during development but ends up being a feature. Overall, a solid (mind-bending) entry! |
| Oct 2 19:14:07 | 28m 34s | Just why? | ♥ 1 | That is very tough. Too tough I would say at first but then I realised how the checkpoint mechanic worked. It is really tight but you can make it a lot easier (and, less frustrating) to yourself by setting your checkpoints smartly. Really solid compo entry. I will probably come back to this at some point. |
| Oct 2 19:22:29 | 8m 22s | RatTrap | ♥ 1 | It took me a while to get going but once I got a hang of it, the game was ok. I especially liked some of the sections where moving mine carts provided me light at right moments. Not sure if I should have had a torch at that point but I found it a nice touch regardless. Extra props for the mood. I think you have used some of the most used assets on the planet well to create something that feels original. |
| Oct 2 19:30:44 | 8m 15s | Denpo | ♥ 2 | I spent way more time on this than I'd like to admit. Usually physics games like this just don't end up working because physics are not solid enough. This hits the feeling of physics and objects out of the park! No bug and everything just works as I would expect them to work. Some of the massive chain reactions were my favorite. Very solid entry - one of my top entries thus far! |
| Oct 2 19:32:33 | 1m 49s | Keep Sailing | ♥ 1 | Waiting for the HTML version! Looking forward to testing this! EDIT: And just I was typing this, it was released! Playing right now! |
| Oct 2 19:37:12 | 4m 39s | Spell Crafter VR | ♥ 2 | If someone actually goes through the effort of making a VR game during a jam (yet alone during compo), I better be ready to also go through the effort and setup my rig to the it. Already downloaded, I will test this later today. |
| Oct 2 20:10:19 | 33m 07s | Pocket Crypt | ♥ 1 | Really cool aesthetics. You really managed to nail that GameBoy feel. Despite the theme this feels and works very similarly to those classic auto scroller space shooter games. The major addition is that now you also have to navigate through the level. In some cases, I felt that I did not get enough information before I had to choose a path. Maybe that was greedness from my part and I player too far forward. Overall, I really solid entry. Bonus points for the retro aesthetic! |
| Oct 2 20:17:18 | 6m 59s | Project Distress (Prototype)- GO TO ITCH.IO FOR WEB GAME | ♥ 1 | Glad to hear you were learning Godot this jam - it is definitely a good choice! Maybe consider adding a HTML build to itch.io? It is very easy to export that from Godot after all. |
| Oct 2 20:30:09 | 12m 51s | Floodwater | ♥ 1 | The highlight of this game is the masterful pacing in level design. New things were neatly taught to me and never I felt overwhelmed by any of the levels. Well done! |
| Oct 2 20:39:12 | 9m 03s | Forklift Frenzy: Limited Space Edition | ♥ 0 | This game really nails controls of the forklift. It moves very realistically and predictably. Also, the sound effects came a smile to my face. Perfectly fitting but yet they feel so homebrew. Well done! |
| Oct 2 20:43:31 | 4m 19s | Tetrominated | ♥ 0 | Well, what is limited space if not tetris! Also, a very nice twist on the classic. I was left hoping some quality of life features that are common in modern tetris games. Like wall kick and lock delay. But understantably these kinds of features are very hard to implement in a jam-setting. Overall, a solid entry! |
| Oct 2 20:52:15 | 8m 44s | Super Earth Spacer | ♥ 1 | Very cool take on the theme! Building the battlefield yourself is a neat idea and it opens up a lot of tactical opportunities. I think the difficulty of the game is on the lower side. Early levels do not really pose any threat to the player and they feel quite long when enemies just spawn and instantly die. Everything will get harder as the progresses but I think the pacing is slightly too slow for a game jam where people will most likely only spend a short time with your game. It would have been cool to be able to reposition tiles during the building phase. Not old tiles but the ones you were currently placing. It would have opened up more tactical opportunities when building. It took me a while to realise that you can switch what tiles you are about to place. But overall, a very solid package. Neat graphics, good sound (selection) and interesting mechanics! |
| Oct 2 20:57:13 | 4m 58s | Age of TinyVillage | ♥ 1 | The "engine" gets going quite quickly after which the game feels quite easy for a while. Really polished effects - sounds, feedbacks etc. Overall, a very solid entry! |
| Oct 2 21:02:33 | 5m 20s | Turn it ! | ♥ 1 | Very polished and complete package - especially for a compo entry. My only major nitpick is that some of the levels felt more like a test of finess than a puzzle. In these levels, it was maybe a bit too clear what you need to achieve and there were too many possible solutions to it. And this means that the player just has to execute a long series of turns to get on top of a platform etc. I was left hoping for more obstacles or restrictions in these levels to keep me thinking. But overall, this was one of the best entries I have played thus far! |
| Oct 3 06:44:07 | 9h 41m | Packed to the Gills | ♥ 4 | Just a very solid package. Very simple idea that stays interesting way longer than it should on the surface. A neat mix of graphics and music create very distinct mood. A solid entry! |
| Oct 3 07:27:14 | 43m 07s | Space! Ltd. | ♥ 1 | There is a lot to unpack here - it feels like a complete game instead of a jam game. The thing I like that most is that the player is able to solve blueprints one by one in any order they wish. It gives a really neat tactical layer to the game when the player is constantly scanning the available pieces and then trying to figure out what blueprints they should try to form next. When there were only a few blueprints left, I was hoping to get a better understanding of what kind of pieces could come next. Not entirely sure how I would implement this but a better knowledge of the stack of pieces would be cool. Overall, this is a really solid package. Impressive jam game! |
| Oct 3 07:32:33 | 5m 19s | Jam-Pack | ♥ 0 | Well, you said it in the game description - it feels cozy! Quite a relaxing little game. Some of the levels felt a bit too easy. I basically just dragged everything in and they fit nicely so I basically did not make any decisions. Or maybe they did not fit after all? In some cases it was confusing what the came counted in and out. But overall, a solid jam experience! |
| Oct 3 07:43:35 | 11m 02s | Space Ltd. | ♥ 2 | That is a pretty grim game. Building all that setting in the beginning definitely made the simple game to feel more meaningful. I understand the feeling of controls from the fictional perspective. But I think the game would have been slightly better with snappier controls and then implementing other mechanics to support the drunk fiction. But at least laggy controls managed to get me into the mood of the game. Overall, a solid game. I respect that you decided to use some of the development time to focus on the story building in the beginning. I think it really uplifts the simple game idea to higher levels! |
| Oct 3 09:41:45 | 1h 58m | MadCap (Alan the Archeologist) | ♥ 1 | Really nice mood through the art and sounds! Building statues was slightly confusing though. I just kept throwing pieces at it until it formed. I also encountered a few bugs where my character was in the "platforming mode" in the map screen and I was not able to proceed. This often happened to me when I came back from a level without any parts. As a side note, the game does not load for me on ldjam.com. It is weird - I have never had this kind of issue with Unity players. Itch.io player loads just fine. But overall, I really cohesive visual style. And I think it fits the theme well! |
| Oct 3 10:47:28 | 1h 05m | Firewall | ♥ 2 | Very impressive to see a NES game made during the jam. Extra props for the trick you did to get the music playing! |
| Oct 3 13:24:10 | 2h 36m | Gacha Fever | ♥ 1 | This is quite a polished game for a game jam! Very flashy and poppy effects. The game loop is fast and satisfying. The only effect I really did not care about was the motion blur. It seemed a bit excessive and jarring to my eyes. Very solid jam entry! |
| Oct 3 18:52:00 | 5h 27m | Parry Hotter and the Stilosopher’s Phone | ♥ 1 | This was a very solid package - especially as a jam game! I enjoyed it for a good while. There would potentially be some improvements to balance here. After a got a certain dice, that was the only dice I ended up using because it outshadowed all other dice statistically. This could potentially be fixed with having a cooldown for dice or "a dice deck" of some sorts. But I still think this is a superb jam entry. Well done! |
| Oct 4 06:17:27 | 11h 25m | FELL OUT | ♥ 2 | Very impressive and polished art style. The game had some issues at times at keeping me engaged. Multiple times I found my mind wandering and not staying immersed and focused into the game. These types of story-driven games are very hard to do in a jam setting, so I would still give this a very good grade. But I just thought it would be interesting for you to know as a feedback. Overall, a superb jam entry! |
| Oct 4 06:50:05 | 32m 38s | Art - Official Intelligence (an AI fever dream) | ♥ 1 | Interesting experiment! I must be very hard try to keep everything looking consistent when it is difficult to give any context of the previously generated assets to the AI. If I would do this myself, I would probably pick a few models for different purposes. Midjourney alone is just too general purpose model and you will run into difficulties to get it to generate specific things on a decent quality (like icons). But overall, I think the end result you have here is quite good! It still has that AI vibe but you managed to hide it surprisingly well. |
| Oct 4 08:45:11 | 1h 55m | Sip & Slime | ♥ 2 | I had quite a difficult time to get the game to fit on my screen. When full screened, most of the UI elements on the side are outside of the screen area. I had to zoom out in my browser to get it all to fit on my screen. But about the game, what a charming game with quite relaxing mood. I like the juxtapose of relaxing music and hectic task of filling orders. It took me a while to understand how all of the parts work but when I got going it started to feel pretty easy. Overall, a very solid and polished jam game! |
| Oct 4 08:54:39 | 9m 28s | HEXAK | ♥ 1 | Very simple but polished jam game! I think it lacks on the feedback side of things a bit. At first, it was really difficult to understand what was happening because aside from the "+X score" display, it seems nothing is happening when you place tiles. In my mind, I constantly had questions like "Was that a good score for that tile?", "Was that a good or bad placement". But when you start understanding the basic idea of the game, it definitely gets better. Overall, a very solid jam game. Definitely has potential for more if you keep developing it after the jam. |
| Oct 4 09:06:22 | 11m 43s | Void Hunter | ♥ 1 | Graphics feel very polished and they bring the original Binding of Isaac to mind. Very neat! The combat is ok but could benefit from slightly better visuals and feedback. Now it is quite hard to get a sense of your range and when you are hitting the enemies. Also, getting hit is hardly noticeable and I often just suddenly died without realising it. The player health bar is quite hard to read since it is not apparent which color is a fill and also it rotates with the player sprite - making it quite confusing to read. But overall, the basic game loop is there and it is fun! The art is definitely the standout of this game - it is very well done! |
| Oct 4 18:23:48 | 9h 17m | InvenStory | ♥ 0 | Really solid, polished package. Very rare to see this quality of a game in a jam! There is not much to critizise about the game. The base loop works really well and fiction is wrapped nicely around it. My only major nitpick is that the instructions sometimes do not feel fair to the player. There probably should be extra tips after a failed delivery so the player does not have to keep trying and trying if they are not getting the requirement of the mission. But other than that, very solid game! |
| Oct 5 14:27:48 | 20h 04m | Packing | ♥ 1 | Jam games that have a voice over always have a soft place in my heart. You never appreciate those as much when playing "regular" games but when someone puts them in a jam game - oh boy do they matter. Even though scary games are totally not my thing, I think this game managed to create very immersive experience. Well done! |
| Oct 6 16:56:18 | 26h 28m | Escape from the clutches | ♥ 1 | Really interesting. I'm a big fan of fighting games and this really nails some key aspects of that genre while still doing something different. Presentation is awesome. If I would improve something that would probably be the feedback for each action player takes. Now it feels a bit delayed each time due to how animations work in this game. I'm sure it is also an artistic choice but it probably hindered my experience a little. But overall, a superb entry! |
| Oct 7 09:15:27 | 16h 19m | Clockwork Express | ♥ 3 | Very solid game! The puzzle aspect gets lost a bit when most levels are solved in a same manner. You just put one element there permanently and swap other until the timer runs out. Extra props for the music. It has a neat retro feeling to it - almost reminds me of Roland MT-32 which I had when I was a kid. Thanks for the game! Awesome entry! |
| Oct 8 11:44:02 | 26h 28m | Prickle | ♥ 2 | Just a solid jam game - both design and aesthetic-wise. The level design is perfect for a jam game. Levels constantly challenge the player to think about the mechanic in new ways. Very solid entry! |
