| Apr 15 19:04:25 | Graveyard Shift: Skeleton Dad Simulator | ♥ 2 | I really like how this game does not take itself too seriously. I had to grin all the way when playing it. And while graphics are not evaluated here, I still like to point out that this game is a good example that you can create a nice mood even combining assets from other sources. Great work! | |
| Apr 15 19:15:30 | 11m 05s | Super Pal Summoner! | ♥ 3 | What a cute and polished game! When you get a hang of recipes, it is quite relaxing and almost addicting. In the beginning it found it slightly annoying to have to constantly check for recipes but after a while you see those patterns and do not need recipes anymore. Great work! |
| Apr 15 19:24:12 | 8m 42s | Diemancer | ♥ 1 | Really good as this was your first jam! I mean super, super solid. It took me a moment to understand that the 6 dice in the upgrade window were the sides of that one die. When thinking back, this should have been obvious but since the graphic and layout was similar to the dice rolling screen, it tricked my brain for a moment. I found it quite interesting that upgrades did not cost anything. It could have been one way to balance upgrades. Now some of them seemed quite powerful and it was possible to get them very early. This seems to potentially lead to situations where you get your "ideal" dice very early and just keep rolling with it and skip all upgrades. But overall, very solid game. Looking forward to seeiog your games in the future. |
| Apr 15 19:30:45 | 6m 33s | Reverse Rituals | ♥ 1 | There is something facinating about this genre. At surface it seems to boring, yet you still finding yourself clicking, clicking and clicking. I like how you managed to create something in the genre you enjoy but what was also faithful to the theme! |
| Apr 15 19:40:36 | 9m 51s | Where is my hat, dudes? | ♥ 2 | Very cool art style. I could imagine myself playing a more feature-packed version of this with friends. Floaty movement combined with somewhat ambiguous hitboxes made the character quite hard to control. It got better over time but I think the controls could be a bit snappier in this type of game. |
| Apr 15 19:50:44 | 10m 08s | Symthesis | ♥ 1 | Actually quite intriguing. It took me a while to get hang of it but when I did I liked it quite a lot. Some levels were overly trivial though and some where very difficult. Maybe the difficulty curve was not perfect but other than that I liked it a lot. |
| Apr 15 20:05:16 | 14m 32s | Sminer | ♥ 1 | This entry has many things done right! Great overall feel and polish. Interestingly, I found myself mostly paying attention to the left part of the screen. It was quite hard to try to keep track of different recipes and your resources. So, I mostly just focused on digging as efficiently as possible. I'm sure it would require more tactical approach if I wanted to survive longer. It is an interesting design problem when the player has to divide their attention to two seemingly separate parts of the game. |
| Apr 15 20:14:31 | 9m 15s | Honorius | ♥ 1 | This is a good example how you can breath new life into (very) old genre. Very good execution and polish. It was quite hard to tell the difference between some of the pentagrams. I guess this was intentional but since Pico-8 has such a low resolution, those images are not too far from each other. |
| Apr 15 20:35:42 | 21m 11s | Summoner Showdown | ♥ 1 | Very impressive as it is your first jam game! I really like the asymmetry between two sides. I thought Hell ranged units were really underpowered but then I found out they need to be tactically played with the melee units in order of them to work. So there is some cool depth in there. Good work! Looking forward to seeing you in future jams! |
| Apr 16 06:06:39 | 9h 30m | Summoning the Demonning | ♥ 3 | Very charming game! I like that the game does not straight up tell you which icon means which ingredient. I feel all needed hints are there, and also there are not any penalties of failing so the player can do some trial and error. Probably the low resolution (no full screen option) also creates some confusion since some of the icons are quite hard to read. But overall, very good! PS. Consider enabling the full screen option in the itch game page settings. I think it should work fine as the game was (probably?) made with Godot. |
| Apr 16 09:39:09 | 3h 32m | Spring Summoner | ♥ 1 | Very interesting twist to the Vampire Survivor genre. And quite solid implementation as well - especially for your first jam. I did not really wrap my head around how moving affects the shapes you are drawing. It seems that most of the time they did not work (i.e. did not summon anything) but sometimes I managed to get something out so it was slightly inconsistent. It would have been cool to be able to learn all designs in game. Either via a book of some sort or, even better, organically in game. But it is natural that you do not have time to make everything perfect during a jam. If you keep developing this, I would consider let the player find all designs by themselves! But overall, great work! Looking forward to seeing you in future jams! |
| Apr 16 11:22:40 | 1h 43m | Blood Rite | ♥ 5 | Really solid package. Beatiful art and the core gameplay loop is there and it is satisfying to play. Some minor comments: - Holding E while using WASD is always quite difficult. Keys like Space and Shift are preferable because the player can press those while having all necessary fingers available for movement. - It was quite hard to see how much blood I had. The number above the selected minion was apparently a minion cap. I would have preferred to see blood there, although I understand the thematic appeal to show it as the vial. - I died two times to something I was not aware of. Not sure if there is friendly fire? But overall, this is a solid entry that could have potential with a post-jam update! |
| Apr 16 11:51:45 | 29m 05s | NECRO'EVOKE | ♥ 3 | Once it clicks it is quite a solid game. Some things never opened up for me - for example what determines the numbers (bones?) I get to my hand. But that did not matter too much for the overall experience. Trading health for summoned minion stats was a neat idea. Overall, a very solid entry! |
| Apr 16 14:33:18 | 2h 41m | SAKURA | ♥ 1 | The beautiful logo got me to click this game. :) There is a lot of stuff in this game. Lots of cool art and even other content in the form of difficulty modes. Difficulty modes are quite a rare sight in jam games but they are actually super useful since a wide array of different players will be playing your game during the jam. If you were to keep working on this game after the jam, I would add improved feedbacks. Now, it was quite hard to follow what was going on in the battle. I really needed to pay attention to keep track of everything. But other than that, a very solid and beefy entry! |
| Apr 16 14:40:33 | 7m 15s | NECRO RUSH | ♥ 4 | Very cute art style! The game is also quite decent, I really liked how each difficulty level did no just up the difficulty but also introduced new mechanics/minions. Running away from the enemy seemed to be slightly too powerful of a tactic. It separates the enemy necromancer from its minions and your minions can easily take the necromancer down. This seemed to work on all levels. But overall, very solid entry. |
| Apr 16 14:57:42 | 17m 09s | Devotion - A fairytale | ♥ 1 | Superb artwork. It feels very consistent package and nothing sticks out - very rare sight in game jams! The puzzle solving has similar vibes as old classics like Monkey Island. It gets a bit brute-force'y at times but what I liked about this entry was that there was never too many options available for the player to discover. When the options are so limited, it makes solving the puzzle a lot easier - almost like there was no puzzle at all. I have often called this "restricting the puzzle space". Overall, well done! |
| Apr 16 19:29:57 | 4h 32m | Path of Aratron | ♥ 1 | Even though I'm not a Pico-8 developer myself, one of my favorite things to do each jam is to go to Itch and see the newest released LDJam Pico-8 games. In their all simplicity, these games are just often charming. And this game is not an exception. Good polish all around and lots of content. |
